These aren’t too bad, I have 4 of these running in raid 0, all 4 are 1TB so I have 4TB of SATA space that is as fast as nvme space

gaming lol, I have 8tb of ssd space.. 4tb nvme space across 2 1tb nvmes and 1 2tb nvme, then the 4x sata nvme. Also Raid can either protect storage being redundant storage in case a drive dies. No, they dont need to be the same drive. However it is probably preferred that you do use the same drives.

it doesnt matter if the other drives are slower, the raid system chops up the data for the drives individually at the same time and waits for the drive to complete its data writing.

like for raid 0 it chops the data up, in my case 4 pieces. so each drive it goes
block 1 2 3 4
block 5 6 7 8

and so on
