$300 is what Intel would charge around 4th gen to 11th gen(?) Intel. Up until Ryzen, probably like half of that for double the cores (FX CPUs, which core count is arguable). And then Ryzen rolled around. Intel was expensive with non-competitive performance and still would charge maybe like $100 more for like three quarters of the specs (and it didn't perform as good)
