pipe cleaner looking metal, which im seeing more and more often, that may be fine

though you also dont actually need that much water, so the mist function on garden hoses are ususally good

but this honestly only really works if you're in a desert or whatever environment

if it's too humid, it doesnt work as well

usually if you're in a hot and dry enviroment, there's often a swamp precooler for the coils for maximum efficency

though that's going to add maintenance costs (pumps, wicks, etc.)

also the float valves fail pretty often because of how cheaply made they are

also try to avoid misting your AC as much as possible; only use it in case of very very hot days or (if you have a system with multiple fans on the same condenser) if one of the fans on the condenser fails, and you need to keep the AC running

over time you can damage the coils

if your AC isnt running as well as it used to, get your coils cleaned

Tons of window ac have a "slinger" tip on the condenser fan to benefit from evaporative cooling. Worst case, given water's specific heat, surface tension at temp, and latent heat of vaporization, I can't imagine it'd hurt more than help.

When in that surface is probably a 4050 or 3050
