I looked into a b450
Unfortunately shipping was the same cost as buying one of the mb I got
Gigabyte=Aorus
Only b550 I've bought was $40
aorus
ok
^
My old pc was mostly gigabyte stuff
mine was asus
I have a second PSU(on accident) for MY build
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 5500, GeForce GTX 1080 Ti
"on accident" does kinda make sense as the opposite of "on purpose." I can't find a great explanation as to why it's technically "by accident" tho
My MIL bought them through Newegg, and she ordered 2 and never noticed
how the hell do i do this lmfao
Prog
how do I avoid MSI Afterburner from doing something like this
that's the rtss app. I would just turn it off completely unless you actually need it for diagnostics. There might be a per app setting for it but I can't rememebr
tf, we doing AM3+ all over again
π³

Can't wait for Phenom VII X6 600 black edition

βBuy am5 muh upgrade pathβ
But why make a new one
Does it not have enough pins or
Hmm
It seems like they just thinking thats the case xD
Am5+ is not on amds roadmap.
But if thats the case still xD sad am5 users.
U only need to change mobo for starter.. since am5 will be compatible in a am5+ I think.. but not vice versa..
Same as am3+ and am3 situation..
U can delay your cpu upgrade xD
Still stuck on a lame ol 9900k smh
hey it's not so bad π
was about to say that too
what u mean lame xD 9900k pog
nvm i change my mind
its quite close to my 3600 xD
with higher tdp and higher price but again its older gen that doesnt matter maybe up to 14900k soon?
What game is that?
It's the game
arm is the future go brrr
It could be... if ARM doesn't do a stupid that ruins it.
If they push too hard on the licensing fees, it might be RISC-V instead
they are not stupid even if they get vuln in the future
its called oversight
like none of them thought it could happen its an avoidable
the last of us part 1
cant wait for part 2
i dont want to buy console xd i just gonna wait it on pc
πΏ
or i could play it on ps3 but the graphics π¦
Lol
im already pampered with the pc version graphics
Iβm currently working on revamping the pc and the console setups
Real
It's crazy how emu development has drastically slowed down after the x360
Only now have we seen a PS4 emulator in its very early stage
Console came out over 10 years ago lol
stage of emulator they start by emulating rpg games at 1st .. focus on it for a year xD because those takes less shader to run.
shader supports what slows down the emu
because in day 1 any game thats new release wont boot
unless they update their emu to work on it
Switch emu happened the same year correct?
u know what i have huge respect on people making emu xD they really have to tear up their hardware
pun some jumper pins on it
just to see how it works
input output
must much on their software side
And the programming...
Ludicrous
It's gotta suck when your project gets shut down by some company
All that work, vanished in a day

The NVIDIA GTX 1080 Ti is the Greatest GPU of All Time thanks to a mix of value, performance, and timing on a market teeming with excellent choices. It was an era when the AMD RX 580 was largely competing in the mid-range with the GTX 1060, Vega hadn't yet launched, and Intel Arc didn't...
impressive for 2017 flagship
RDNA1 was unique after vega
Legit dunno what vega is really meant for
Probably a highly experimental card
How much joules should I get?
Depends on how valuable the thing you want to protect is
My personal formula is like 1 joules of protection per $2
Idk how to calculate that tbh, this is my PC. I just want tt to be 100% safe against a surge. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/bbxmHG
Part List - AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, Radeon RX 7900 XTX, Phanteks XT PRO ATX Mid Tower
There's never a 100% protection
But proper quality surge protectors often give you insurance for up to their rated capacity
And will replace your equipment if it fails to protect against a surge of that amount
What does the Joule amount do to protect it?
Is that like how much surge it can take?
Yes
And most can only protect against a short surge of less than like a second or smth like that
There are some surge protectors that can protect against power surges that happen for a long period of time
But those are extra expensive
whats a good brand of clear loop cooling liquid brand/model
Water
By god
u mean
Dihydrogen Monoxide
Make this at home using supermarket and ebay ingredients
Otherwise you're paying like
$30 a litre
200mL might only fill your reservior btw

What would be the right channel for asking for help regarding overheating? (Sorry to interject)
w-what
My loop takes something like 700mL
its concentrate
1.5L
1:5 is 6 part
1250ml water + 250 ml concentrate
that's loop cleaner
π
you should like come over
Have a look at the link I sent tho
I'll drain it if I get to take part of it home
i need biocide too
yes
Glycol + Stabiliser is the inhibitor
I've used it in my loop for a long time now, no issues
It's just way cheaper to homebrew it
I ain't payin like, $50, then $50 in shipping on top
for 1L
Watercooling is cringe af here, unless you can find the ultra cheap stuff in the right places
unfortunately if i want to make the ggf pc usable again i need to do all this cooling crap
since im draining everything and not using blue coolant anymore
ooo i found some Thermoplastic xD i can now fix the crack on my headphone
i use yarn to bind it xD so the crack wont spread
wow that came loose really easily... weird
I was talking to my buddy who's an electrician and he said that I'd need a 1500w UPS to protect my PC from a surge and anything below that is useless. That's like $500 tho π what do you guys have your PCs plugged into?
your computer needs 12.5 amps?
A power board
And a three phase surge protected main line
My PSU is 850w idk how to calculate it
surge is rated by joules xD dont matter about the w part i think
it was labeled on the box
how much it can handle
I have my pc plugged into just a normal wall outlet rn which is 110v which I was told was kinda stupid
what w matter is on how long it can sustain ur pc during battery mode
large the longer of course
my pc only eats 250 on the wall xD maybe 300 if i play triple a games
xD
Do I need a UPS or can I just use a surge protector? A $15 Amazon surge protector has a higher joule rating than the $500 ups I saw
why stupid?
Cuz I don't have any protection apparently
Also is it safe since my pc is 850w but the outlet is 110v?
Idk I'm rlly dumb
its optional tho xD unless you work from home?
Some days
people that work at home really need ups unless u can tell your boss that power went out.. ill be back a bit
xD
ups and surge protectors do seperate tasks, and both are important imo
Yeah we did lol
ups prevents short power outages from making you lose your work, and need to restart, or corrupt files due to the system suddenly shutting down
surge protectors prevent things from being overvolted and get destroyed
Yeah I just care about the not being destroyed part.
Idrc if I lose all my files tbh
power surges happen less in my area, so a UPS is more important to me
ups provide clean power output for your beloved pc
not really
most consumer UPSs are line interactive, so they dont do any power filtering under normal use
So if a surge happened and I didn't have a UPS but a surge protector would my pc be safe in the sense it would still work but I might need to like fac reset?
depends
anywhere from your os being corrupted due to like, a system update happening at that moment, to it just being completely fine
i think u really want it
get something like this its cheap and its puresinewave
mine is cheap.. its not pure on battery mode xD
its fine i just need it for shutdown
I spent so much money on my pc I don't really want to drop another $500 unless my pc is at risk of breaking entirely tbh lol
Much easier than 13900KS was
PowerMac G5 is probably the coolest sounding computer I've heard but its loud as heck lol
personally speaking, just from a convenience standpoint, a UPS is absolutely worth it, but if you dont want to spend the money on the UPS immediately, the surge protector is definitely a good investment
ups is insurance
ups comes with surge now adays ..
what u need to avoid is
plug surge to another surge protection
xD
i dont know why but they say dont
Idk if you can see this but
This is one I had lying around. Does this work. I think it says max watts 1850
hmm
eaton and some other companies recommend it
you just need a good quality one
might just be the current rating
not the surge protection rating
hmm 16A
those cheap "surge protectors" aren't reliable as far as im aware, and also dont provide any insurance
they also often avoid the term surge protector
it seems like APC is the one saying that you shouldn't put it on a surge protector
though APC is more of a consumer/small-medium business brand
so they might be worried that some people may use low quality surge protectors?
I'd be willing to buy that APC one I linked earlier if that would protect my PC from getting destroyed
nah, redundancy is good, the reasoning APC put was that the surge protector might not have a good ground
but any good surge protector should have been fine
surge protection that says... "made in china" and "military grade" xD
quite sus sometimes
no no xD cyberpower gang xD
jk apc is fine i just dont have experience with them
let me know
The cyber power one I saw was like $500 ππ
I'll spend like 150 max
Idk I'll prolly just end up going with the APC one, it's prolly better than what I have now at least which is nothing
A UPS is designed to provide backup power when main power fails and provide low-level, minor transient protection. Significant surge events, such as a lightning strike, are beyond the capacity of a UPS to manage. The best way to divert this excess energy and dissipate its harmful effects is to do so before it gets to the UPS. All major surge events should be handled before reaching the UPS input side. Placing a surge suppressor in front of the UPS isolates it and its connected equipment from major surge events.
i hope ur psu is not bothered with it
just get a good surge protector for that then
Is there a required wattage/amps/volts/joules I still don't know the difference ππ
This more confusing than building my pc for the first time
you dont need to worry about the amps or volts, since they should all be able to handle 120v15a
at minimum
some psu has this active fpc .. when u have simulated sinewave.. it think those gap are "power outage" xD but some psu even with active fps can handle it.. depends on the implementation
you just want to look at the supression rating and how long it can handle, and also what type of power surges are most likely to happen
ordered a backordered card and it got delayed multiple times and is now out of stock
should I cancel the order or just wait?
if the order was confirmed, then just wait unless you need a card like within the next day or two
I would use a more reputable brand
Who's the best
https://www.amazon.com/Tripp-Lite-Protector-Right-Angle-ISOBAR6ULTRA/dp/B0000513US/ here, idk if it's the best or anything but at least it's from a brand that has existed for decades, and is owned by eaton
"Premium protection for essential network workstations, telecom systems, point-of-sale equipment and audio/video systems, the ISOBAR6ULTRA Isobar 6-Outlet Surge Protector features a network-grade surge protection rating of 3330 joules to defend your sensitive electronics against even the stronges...
And unlike the one you sent, I'm fairly confident that this should actually handle the rated surge
$50,000 Insurance sheesh
there are some with higher
but there is fine text
the insurance only applies if the surge protector fails at UNDER the surge suppression rating
Yeah that def looks better. It says 120v tho and my outlets are 110v is that a problem or just how much it could take
110v-120v is standard
Also what's the max wattage? I don't see it. Would I be able to plug my pc, 2 monitors, and a light into it?
240v gang xD
well a standard 110v or 120v wall plug in the US is on either a 15amp or a 20amp breaker
what might help you to know is part of Ohm's law
Watts = Amps x Volts
so the max wattage on a 15amp breaker is either
W = 15amps x 110v
W = 15amps x 120v
20amp would be
W = 20amps x 110v
W = 20amps x 120v
Does every outlet have its own breaker?
oo so my 10A is 2400w
so 1650w, 1800w, 2200w, & 2400w respectively
typically not
there are some things that by code are supposed to
for example, I think in new construction a refrigerator should have a dedicated circuit
kitchens & bathrooms often do
kitchens should be 12awg & get a 20amp breaker since that's where you tend to use a lot of power for microwaves, toasters, etc.
other circuits use 14awg & get a 15amp breaker
the easiest way to tell if your outlet is 15 or 20 amps (if actually done correctly) is to look at the neutral connection
a sideways T for the neutral means it's a 20 amp breaker
btw that applies whether the duplex receptacle is decora (rectangular one in the picture) or the regular type like
the hell is this sorcery xD
theres a cross on it
that means it's supposed to be for a 20 amp circuit
Yeah all mine are just normal
that looks fancy
So I guess 15
cuz technically, an appliance that can run up to 20 amps should have a plug in part that looks like this
the diff on 10a to 15a i think is the thiccness. because when i plug 10a prong to a 15a it just slide off xD
so it can't be used on a 15amp circuit
you can check your panel. The amperage for each breaker is written on it
Ight. Is there a way to tell if all the outlets in my room are on the same breaker?
I have 4 one on each wall
I use a window ac unit in the summer, I haven't used one with my new pc yet tho and I know those take a ton of power
the point being, I dunno much about UPSs, but I do know that 1500w is a lot of watts lol
technically 1500w is like two horsepower lol
they only take a ton of power to start the motor inside of it
& not really because it needs a lot of power to start, but because it's driven by magnets & for like a fraction of a second before the magnets energize, there's basically no resistance
do you frequently lose power??
Nah not really, every so often couple times a year they'll be a storm which knocks down a tree on my road or something for a couple days
ah okay
Knock on wood hasn't happened in a couple years but on average I'd say it's like twice a year usually
what tasks are you primarily trying to back up?
I just don't want my pc to get destroyed by a surge
it's generally pretty mediocre but OneDrive auto save on Word, Excel, etc. has bailed me out of some crappy situations
Idc about data or anything as long as my pc itself stays safe and doesn't break
can't you use a typical surge protector? like power strip type thing?
Yeah probably this, but all the wattage and joules and circuit breaker stuff is confusing π
sad winky π¦
I think that one is good enough but now I'm concerned that my total power will exceed the circuits for the outlets in my room
Especially if I have a window AC during the summer
i mean if that happens the circuit breaker will just trip, so it should fail safe
I've had a dehumidifier window AC and my old pc on at the same time before and everything was fine so idk
Oh ok good to know.
π
circuit breaker is designed to be the lowest "specced" element of the wiringβthe physical connections, wires, in a properly-built household can exceed their max amperage by a decent margin and be fine
wouldn't rely on it day-to-day, but, you should be good
you could plug a light into the outlet & turn it on then go to the panel & find the breaker that turns off the light
then plug the light into different outlets in the same room & see if any turn it on
^
if it turns on while the breaker for the other one is off, you have multiple circuits in the room
ya exactly. Code requires 14awg is on 15A breaker; 12awg is on 20A breaker; & 10awg is on 30A breaker
they should always because of the motor startup
if you look at the NEC ampacity chart tho
14awg is good for 25A; 12 for 30A; & 10 for 40A
most factories will have this, this is basically what we use for everything besides APC
because they know people tend to rig things up in their homes, they make electricians waste copper lol
also depends on waht year the house was made as well if it's a house π the one we just bought what fun
brb setting up an arc welder in my kitchen
my dad when we redid the house which he bought in 1994 he redid the house from cloth wire and installed 12awg is on 20A breaker for all lines π
but for the furnace and ac
lol true because aluminum has lower ampacity & older wire has crappy insulation lol
what insulation π
THHN (standard) is rated to 90C but old wire is rated as low as 60C
lol you had super old school knob & tube???
just after that although there was remints of the knob & tube still in the house
run wires in pipe? grounding/bonding? decent insulation? NAAAH
we had the wiring after that
just... just put some ceramic crap so it doesn't set wood on fire np
ah the aluminum cloth wire?
that stuff sucks for many reasons, not the least of which is copper & aluminum don't like to hang out together so you need special wire nuts called alumicons to connect them together
lol ya I'm glad you replaced that
and newspaper for wall insualtion π
The wiring in my house came from a lumber mill that was demolished 20 years ago
there are these panels... I think they're called FPE or something that if you buy a house & it has FPE panels, you won't get a mortgage because you can't get homeowner's insurance if you don't replace them
the house was only around 3k when he bought it so ya..
Zinsco no good either
I've come across a lot of electrical issues during home inspections. Federal Pacific panels were widely used in residential and commercial buildings throughout the United States from the mid-1950s to the late 1980s. Manufactured by Federal Pacific Electric (FPE), these panels were known for their low cost and reliability. However,β¦
heck
I think I might have to send some of these wiring pictures to my uncle. He does inspections on that kind of stuff.
you know what's kinda weird to me
o wait the house was built in 1940
to use various materials (panels, breakers, conduit, wire, etc.) for electrical work, they have to have UL certification
guess who makes 3dmark
huu
if you're building a house these days, whats the recmmended standard to install for ethernet?
is it still cat 5e?
Underwriter's Laboratory. same company
cat 5e is fine
ngl I dunno code for data
it's a lot less strict than for electrical tho lol
also, it's against code for different voltages to share the same box
maybe in the city for Cat 6a but you never will get to 10gb a sec
so data heckers take up all the good spots for boxes? you're hecked
i mean if i had the money i'd probably do conduit with pull cables
although it might be possible now for fiber
true, seems to be coming down in price
My uncle is an electrician and his last name is a term used when talking about electricity. I'm not going to say his last name since he's the first person that shows up when you search it.
Nominative Determinism in action once again!
conduit is great for upgrading later
your uncle is Mike Holt!? lol
Billy Joule
ohm π
ohm my god
hay might be related
I just noticed there's a new wegg staff on discord
No, he's not a well known person but he is pretty high up at a big electrical company
opps added a E π
ah okay
I dunno the electrical field that well
plus I've been out of it since mid-2020 lol
Pike? lol
Nope
Well, E=W/Q is a good start
He does electrical inspections
I was gonna apply to Pike. You can make six figures doing line work
if working around up to 500,000 volts doesn't bother you
I just remembered "W=AV" & moved around the numbers accordingly lol
damn
900 for 4k oled
factory calibrated
this is basically a professional monitor with gamer specs
I never really learned much about resistance. it matters a lot in DC I think but AC doesn't matter except like ground rods have to be below a certain resistance or something
just gotta remember this thing
I actually don't know who my uncle works for. I just know that he makes a lot of money and is very respected in his line of work.
My brain would forget all that within a day
just remember the important ones
Only time I learned any of that was in auto shop in highschool and we only used like 2 of them
could isntall one of these lol https://www.homedepot.com/p/Leviton-15-Amp-Commercial-Grade-Tamper-Resistant-Decora-Duplex-Outlet-with-Surge-Suppressor-White-R00-T5280-00W/206126043
or really, get an electrician to install a whole-home surge supressor
That looks great but I'm too dumb for that π
just knowing P=ExI gets you thru like 98% of things
fr
i remember it as P=IV tbh
most houses here in thailand have trash ground lmao
or whole home gfci
i forget the name, it's not called gfci though iirc
i get slightly shocked when i plug in usb devices into my laptop while it's plugged in
I didn't realize how expensive houses in big cities are till I visited my rich uncle's house and noticed it's the same size as my house.
have you considered that you are the bad ground
actually nvm, no it's not. how many wires can go inside a 3/4" EMT conduit? heckin voltage drop. Every electrician has a code book in their truck cuz remembering it all is impossible lol
maybe
I think newer code requires AFCI (Arc Fault Circuit Interrupter) in bedrooms or something
idk old or new code so i cant say if you're correct or not lmfao
no matter which device
lol that's not good. Maybe you have strong load imbalance causing backfeed on the neutral
or bonding is not good
foxy is just a really good capacitor
lol
or some hecker installed the green screw in your panel even tho it's only supposed to be installed if the panel is the FIRST DISCONNECTING MEANS
lol no one understands that for some reason I swear
like ya just put all the neutrals & grounds on the same bar no big deal
the house we bought i kinda don't want to mess with it
lol don't unless you have to
I was working at a Chevy dealership and the laptop at the oil change station would zap you if you got within a cm of the tool box it was on
asbestos insulation?
it's heckin dangerous
i see electricians do that all the time
ground? no, just wrap tape around it
it's not even connected to the ground
if you're getting zapped, it means there's stray current that should be causing a breaker to trip but it has no low impedance path back to the source
This
suh
There's also another 240? breaker to the garage
that's not bad. Is that an ATS? fancyyy
damn i assume you got a standby generator
(Automatic Transfer Switch for a generator)
i also get noise when i used a phone with headphone jack
Ya it came with the house with the solar system
plugging headphones in while it's charging causes noise lmao
lol all those pretty nice panels & the heckin light is plugged into a receptacle at the bottom of the panel all not safe
stop capacitoring so much LMFAO
Eddy currents love Foxy ig
1 farad rated capacitor:
LOL
Ya don't know why they put ot that close
if it rains during totality on monday i will lose it
the other day I had to figure out why a 120/208 3-phase delta system with a high leg gave me 208v to ground on phase B but still gave me 208v from phase to phase
something about triangles & transformer windings
i mean, everyone has capacitence, you just have a strange amount of static lmfao
perhaps
i mean, sometimes you just need power
if you wear like sandals with socks in a very low humidity place
that's cold
you're basically a taser
thailand is a pretty humid country
i have an outlet like 10cm away from the breaker panel as well
though without conduit, it's all just bare romex
Coaxial cables is another story as well
well, not bare, just uncovered
lol romex isn't legal in commercial applications
I never liked romex. It's so hard to make it look nice
lmao
i can assure you that it doesnt look nice in my house either
the spiderwebs dont help
lol
lol Romex is basically a glorified extension cord tbh
lmao
not talking crap about your electrical system, it's probably in like every house in the US
yeah i wouldnt say that my electrical system in my house is great
this one is in the garage with no cover..
I do kinda like Romex tho cuz it almost always has solid wire in
& solid wire is a lot easier to make it look good inside a panel
wait
Giant pool though and pump system
oh nvm im just reading words that dont exist lmao
it's funny cuz like most of construction, when people do it really well it's just to flex on the other trades
cuz the owners don't care
& often don't ever see it
how do you get 460v service
i wonder what does 48v car electronics system even benefit em
unless that is a commercial building
lol what the heck? your main feeders are like 4/0 or larger for that tiny panel
The ones who built house where Rich then 2 or 3 families down let it rot and turned the sub pumps off when it flooded or before it did
in USA it's 277/480v
I think Canada has a system that has over 500 or something crazy
you don't want a 277/480 service tho cuz you'd need a transformer for everything but like your lights lol
i see 480v at the factory i worked at, but never in a residential building
This house isn't normal
yeah it's just such a high voltage lmao
ya it's great to have 277/480 for big machines
cuz you can run high wattage with lower amperage
save on wires lol
what I never understood is why they haven't slowly tried to move to three-phase systems for residential power
three-phase is more efficient
complexity of balancing iirc
wait theres even more 2 breaker boxes outside is one for outputting on solar?
plus if you have three-phase power with a motor that uses all three phases, you have to get phase rotation correct or you could make the motor spin backwards
ah yes the scary noise of wrong rotation of an AC compressor
eh that looks like a main disconnect & a meter missing the meter part
its on another pole
I'm old enough to remember when the power company actually sent someone to read your meter
they still did that for mine
They still do here
in the winter you can see the footprints of someone wading through the snow to our meter lol
really? I thought they just read it remotely somehow
ya with the new meters, ours was changed last year
they havent changed my meter at my house afaik
so it's the same one from like a decade ago
and maybe longer? idk, it's digital
though somebody comes to check
i've never seen the person come to check
just the footprints
Almost all devices would have to have a phase monitor/sensor built in to them. And then a switch to switch two phases out if it didnβt match how your home has it
do they have to read it monthly?
really? hmm I figured since you still get 120v on a single phase it wouldn't really matter. ig you do lose like 32v phase to phase tho
supposed to π
they where kinda just estimating for a long time where i live although i forget how they do it but ya after new meters, price rose
cuz phase to phase voltage on single phase is just PA voltage + PB voltage but it's like A+B times square root of three or something I forget
lol
now we have peak time and low times now started last month
If you were using a single phase device it wouldnβt matter, only if you wanted to use a three phase motor or something
in my parents' neighborhood awhile back they swapped all the high pressure sodium street lights to LEDs. That sounds great but the light output sucks
if we did have 3 phase as standard for every outlet, i'd imagine the wiring to have been standardized to be in a specific phase rotation, with a specific outlet type for ensuring the proper phase wiring and connection
ah okay I figure what @velvet summit said was a big reason. on a single-phase system your 2-pole for your oven is like 50A so when the oven is on you'd have high draw on like phase A & B but not C
Or an air conditioner/heat pump. Helped install one at work where it came with a phase monitor, and it prevented the heat pump from running when the phases were wrong
oh nice
I remember installing generators we'd have to test phase rotation from the utility company for like elevators & what not & make sure the rotation matched on backup power
no idea why it doesnt seem standardized, every single installation of 3 phase devices i've seen always requires the installer to check to see the phase rotation on the wires
That would be the ideal scenario
does anyone else's discord mobile app randomly like tell you what people you often interact with are talking about in [whatever] channel
I find it strange lol
I think it's an AI thing for mods on android?
its not just for mods
ah ok. I've never seen it, but i'm on ios
I find it annoying
is it? I just noticed it a few days ago & it tells me about other discords where I'm just a member
also tbf they could design (and they might already exist) ovens that use 3 phase balanced, but that also poses problems like, now the companies need to design devices that balance the load on all 3 phases as well, so we're just shifting the effort to other people, which still means more cost
you can disable it in settings
or something
per server basis
Thinking about it, it would be really inconvenient for the power company to get three phases to everything. Currently they can run three phases on poles down a main road and split a single phase down the side streets, but with all the phases it means more wiring and more work, and more expensive transformers
yeah I did that... had to manually disable for each of 200 servers... annoying
also yeah more wires required
well, iirc in european countries, it's more common to see 3 phase in houses?
or maybe those were still just apartment complexes
I wonder how long the cost would take to be offset by the power savings you get from three-phase
heck I dunno
I think Europe uses pretty high voltage no?
i mean, considering that power costs like pennies where i live, probably not enough to be worth it, at least not for like 5-10 years at least
I know like Japan uses only 100v & iirc, that's only for like half the country too
230-240V single phase iirc for eu?
Think about if you had say a vacuum or something, three phases, wye windings. Thatβs five wires youβd have to have at a recep. Three phases, neutral, and equipment ground
we're 230V here in AU/NZ
would you need a neutral for a vacuum
eh it has a spinning motor
640v π
Depends if itβs perfectly balanced three phases
hmm
I guess it probably would be
actually, do you even need to have a ground for a plastic body vacuum cleaner
Delta goes phase to phase
I wish USA used 240 per phase so I could get bigger PSU lol
most single phase vacuums i've used are just the 2 prong
oh but doesn't Europe use 30hz or something
i do have to say its kinda nice to have solar
er maybe 50hz
50 sounds more right
Really? The ones Iβve used (metal Kirby at home, and others for janitorial work) had equipment grounds
*plastic
commercial ones with metal exteriors have grounds yeah
Oh π€¦ββοΈ
i've used like 1 commercial grade metal vacuum and like 20 different consumer grade plastic vacuums lmao
I forget but what the heck difference does that make anyway? I know hertz is how many times the electrical charge goes from positive to negative or something like that (hence "alternating" current) but
motor speed in the case of 3 phase
i think?
though i guess that depends on the winding configuration?
hmm i actually have no clue about this lmao
Yes- different windings have different speeds under the same loads, but theoretically by changing the hertz you can change the speeds. Motors designed for VFDs are just that, the variable frequency drive takes the 60hz in, turns it into DC, and modulates out a sine wave at whatever hertz you choose
outside of that though, are there any other differences
devices using 50hz vs 60hz
on 3 phase specifically
stock market is ironic
"oh no it lost 3%, we're doomed"
i guess being one yacht short of money is bad
Lenovo launched its Cobalt Co-45 gaming desktop build in China on March 31 with an initial price of 3999 Yuan (~$560). The system is powered by the Intel Core i5-12400F CPU and NVIDIA GeForce 1660Ti 6GB graphics and runs Windows 11. Key features of Lenovo Cobalt Co-45: The CPU, i5-12400F, is a 6-core 12-thread processor [β¦]
huh
china only
laptop but not
uses framework's board
you can actually order just a framework board
and slap it into the case
1660ti? tbh I don't even know how good/bad those cards are. my laptop has 1660ti but it's a thermal disaster so I never really took advantage of it
how does 1660ti do against 3050?
they're the same
pretty much
it's basically like the 3050 has more vram and rt/dlss capability
3050 6gb is slower than 1660ti btw
only the 8gb is equal lol
lol 3050 6gb should be like 3030ti
it's a 1060 all over again
it literally identically performs like 1060 6gb
i wish 4050 had 8gb
it's kinda sad that it's got 6gb
6 is still ok but the 92 bit bus
makes it fall behind 3060 laptop
ouch lol
i hope 4050 desktop gets 8
but i wouldn't be surprised
matching laptop variant sounds like what nvidia would do
it's better than the 3050 8gb i guess
3dmark on my laptop with 4050 at 140w gave me a score near 1080 desktop
I'm currently watching YouTube on an Xbox 360 because I was playing Forza Horizon and was too lazy to switch consoles.
Is there any way to make HDR not be garbage. There's just like bright spots on my pc and it makes my monitor warm/orange :/
I need it on to fix a couple issues but it's actually painful playing with it on
@viral heron turn it off and also turn it off in game
As I said before, the other half of the fix is just not using hdr and it's likely fine
Or you can find a way to alt tab without the screen going black (i.e whichever window option you use that works)
Ok. Do you think pressing the windows key instead of alt tab would trigger the same thing
it would
Maybe ur monitor is not hdr certified xD
It is
Idk either I either have to restart my pc every 2 hours or play with HDR on and my screen stays orange
try to not alt tab a lot
HDR just makes SDR content look washed out on my monitor
(it also makes screenshots look awful)
i need help
can someone rate my build
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 5600, GeForce RTX 3060 12GB, Thermaltake V250 TG ARGB Air ATX Mid Tower
How much is a 6700xt
Cuz thatβs a lot better than a 3060
not available in my city
the place im getting all the parts from doesnt have the 6700xt
ive also checked other pc stores in my city none of them sell the 6700xt
its more $
do they have a website
ye
drop
on pc partpicker the cheapest 6700xt is 1.5k
and the cheapest 3060ti is 600$
au price are crazy
@wary fjord so?
@mighty hazel so?
Maybe 4060 ti or 3060 ti/ 7700xt if u can afford them
If not get the 3060
tbh
go with what you want
people have given you advice many times before
i think at this point you have an idea of what to look for

It's a legitimate disease
It's far worse than rabies
I've only really used the free portion of it and it does what it needs to
idk I installed it because my cousin installed tlauncher on my pc
and I wanted to b sure
ran a full scan it said that it's alr
idk if I should keep it or not
6090 is crazy
I have no idea what that launcher is but I trust malwarebytes a fair bit. the other virus software I use is virustotal.com to scan suspicious files I download
Only $80
Tlauncher basicly cracked minecraft
π
homie got mad bcs I signed out of my Microsoft acc so he couldn't play
you already know
that's how I roll
xD never encounter that episode yet
only slightly related but i want a forklift
for myself i mean
or actually
a front loader would be more useful
?? π
riding forklifts is fun
my dad has a few at his job
has anyone watched Shin godzilla?
i am forklift certified... i've only been on a forklift once lmao
oh
didn't know that was a thing
I learned from the workers there
asked dad if it was cool for me to ride it and he said whtve
who cares
fr
almost no company completely complies with osha as long as you are being reasonably safe
I was just riding it around the place
the only time we comply with regulations is when there is an inspector
yeah
they b annoying asf
and then every team leader goes "take off your headphones and put in ear plugs, the inspector is here"
lmfao
ohh that's cool
I wana start working this summer
staying at my dad's job makes no sense
I'll work as a waiter π
It's from the episode "once bitten"
why everyone beats intel now adays
are u guys considering arm soc as your main soc in your future gaming pc?
Probably still arrives in better condition than any delivery driver
I would love it if I had a mobile device with arm soc that can just replace my desktop completely
hope cyberpunk becomes our reality
emulation might be nice if we go arm
Install pc directly to brain
yes
Bro asking the real questions
Do you think this is to much bend for coax cable?
looks fine
Thanjs
In some places they are almost there. Go to new york, chicago, philly, etc
Uh, the only thing that looks like cyberpunk in New York is tall buildings, wym?
hydro
Deleted Version
Cyberpunk 2077 Russia meme video
I mean, I guess we're almost there
go to times square
its so bad
i don't want cyberpunk future
What's bad?
everything
smells like garbage, you got naked people in the streets, you have elmo and cookie monster mugging a guy that didnt pay for his selfie
tourists blocking the middle of the street
That sounds like poor organization and management, not cyberpunk
- the sheer amount of screens and bright lights is equivalent to night city
I guess they didn't really have flying cars in cyberpunk (lol) but at least there were cool body mods
how to say you know nothing about nyc without saying it
What you describe is not equal to cyberpunk but equal to the 1984 movie escape from New York
Forgot to mention the national guard in the subways checking people's bags and the illegal gangs that formed from the influx of illegals
horse
Guess you could say 2077 is like korea mixed with american cities, but the real future over here is an even more degraded version of american cities
This country will turn into brazil in like 20 years
Philadelphia is a scary place
hey yβall
YEAHHHHHHH
hi T3k
One wrong look will turn you into Swiss cheese

Don't forget about the maintenance
Oh god

I'm sorry, do whatever, I'm not your mother

Looks nice + uses that same reliable engine that they been using for a while while being even more efficient than last time
When it doesnβt kill itself
RAHHH THE NEW 4RUNNER IS REVEALED IN 2 DAYS
Luckily I think 2017 A4 is not plagued by timing chain issues
Big redesign
Big downer with that TV screen
Awful
Yeah not much of a fan of it either
Go offroading, bump on a big hole and hit the 65 inch TV mounted 20 inches from your face

look at this interiors
its so cool xD

Oh they're definitely cool
I will never understand people living in a van
At least the ones that live in a van and drink Starbucks every morning
And have like iPhones and Macbooks with a Starlink and solar panels on the van roof
Like sure if you have a clapped out old van and live in it because you don't get another option that's understandable
But some people really just want to look oh so fancy while wasting time and money
Gonna be cheaper than rent
I'd live in a van rather than spending the market rate on renting a studio here
And I would kit it out to make it not be as miserable to live in too
Like that van in the post
That stuff ain't cheap
You've blown tens of thousands on the fancy crap in it
At least
You can likely get like a 60 square meter house for the price of that van
They said it cost them 23.2k USD for it
"freedom to go where you want, whenever youwant and live in luxury"
Aaaaaaand there's the problem
Lot of stuff can be considered luxury if you compare it to living on the streets in the most dangerous place on the world and only getting a single piece of bread a week for food.
Quite frankly I'm buying that if they get sponsored for like most of the furnishing and stuff
That van wasn't just a living place
Those furnitures were the expensive kind
I'mma be real I know what the size of that van is
It's roughly my room
They ain't fitting 4 people AND cooking AND bathroom in that
No effing way
They have a company where you pay them to come convert your vehicle of specific specs to a living space
Not a CHANCE
I'mma check this out
if u like traveling
it will make sense
like its boring to live on one place sometimes
and ur life is not that long u know xD might aswell venture what earth can offer
I really appreciate the spelling error that was made. "No hecking wax". I just like to think that wax is the only thing that makes or breaks luxury.
Hm?
