craggy shoal
#

I mean maybe you can find one online but good luck lol

copper fable
#

I know a different method lol

#

I already hackintoshed my main computer haha

craggy shoal
#

oooh gotcha

copper fable
#

I just recentely switched to the RTX 3070

craggy shoal
#

I wonder if it would work with a 5600G

copper fable
#

So I can't do that anymore

copper fable
dusk knot
copper fable
#

You mean the CPU right? I have the 5800X

craggy shoal
#

ye CPU

rancid juniper
#

lol no bios button

craggy shoal
#

don't tell me how to do it here given that it's illegal(?)

velvet summit
#

I don't think hackintoshes are worth it anymore

copper fable
#

It worked for me with my RX6800XT and 5800X... just need NVIDIA for the CUDA cores and NVIDIA Broadcast lol

copper fable
surreal kernel
#

Antena moutning points too

rancid juniper
#

you dont want to get a board with an old bios

copper fable
#

Which European country has the lowest prices for pc components lol

surreal kernel
rancid juniper
#

just use a usb stick, add latest bios, plug it in, press button and wait

#

thats what i did before i installed my 13600k on MSI Z690

velvet summit
#

afaik

rancid juniper
#

i thought it would brick and game over

velvet summit
#

i'm pretty sure it can but im not 100% that all of them can

rancid juniper
#

heh

velvet summit
#

at least the msi one can

#

idk about if any other bios flash buttons on other boards can

rancid juniper
#

afaik ryzen boards may come with an older bios, and since you bought yourself a Ryzen 5000 chip you want to make sure the board is updated @surreal kernel

surreal kernel
#

and how do I do it do I install the file into a usb

velvet summit
#

yeah

rancid juniper
#

you just go onto the motherboard's website and download the bios file, format your usb i guess and then drag and drop the extracted files

surreal kernel
#

and then plug the USB once the pc is off and hit the button or what?

rancid juniper
#

i think the pc has to be powered on from psu

velvet summit
#

you need it in a specific usb slot

surreal kernel
#

pc won't boot if bios isn't updated ?

velvet summit
#

also the bios file needs to be named something specific

rancid juniper
velvet summit
rancid juniper
#

ye

surreal kernel
#

my psu has no switch btw

velvet summit
#

i mean switched off as in you didnt press the power button to turn on the pc

#

the psu power switch should be on

surreal kernel
#

oh

#

so I should probably grab a 2nd usb

#

now

#

for the bios

#

since the other one has the windows install

#

in it

velvet summit
#

bios usb doesnt need to be empty

#

it just needs to be formatted as fat32 (maybe exfat? idk if your board requires fat32 or if it can do exfat)

surreal kernel
#

I'm lost

surreal kernel
#

usb that I use for the windows installer

#

idk if that would work tho

velvet summit
velvet summit
#

dont use the same drive as the installer

#

uhh

surreal kernel
#

Gigabyte B550m Aurous Elite

velvet summit
#

right click the usb and select properties

#

oh the board

surreal kernel
#

yeah

#

If it needs exfat or fat32

velvet summit
#

it's in the manual, lemme see

plain stone
#

can i post a forms survey here? it's for school purposes

#

and not surprisingly my classmates can't be bothered to answer so I'm asking if i could post here lol 😭

surreal kernel
#

wondering what the chances r that these old usb

#

that I found have viruses

velvet summit
#

ok confirmed that you need fat32 or fat16

surreal kernel
#

should I plug them

plain stone
#

thank you tomie

surreal kernel
#

usb?

velvet summit
#

i mean, i cant since im not physically there lmsao

#

lmao

surreal kernel
#

leme plug these USB in

wary fjord
velvet summit
#

btw you need to have a drive under 32gb in size to format in fat32

#

or you can create a partition that is 32gb large and format that as fat32

surreal kernel
#

under 32

copper fable
#

@craggy shoalAn update about the laptop: He bought it from Best buy...

#

So it will probably worth more lol

velvet summit
#

as for the bios file, you need to name it as "GIGABYTE.bin"

#

and put it in the fat32 formatted drive, not inside of any folders

copper fable
surreal kernel
#

I think my usb is 8 gigs

velvet summit
surreal kernel
#

this other one is dead

velvet summit
#

ive never tried formatting anything large into fat32

surreal kernel
#

only found a

#

old one

copper fable
#

That one worked for me

surreal kernel
rancid juniper
#

Fat64 when?

velvet summit
young matrix
copper fable
#

It was just the UI I guess

velvet summit
#

hmm

surreal kernel
#

these dates

#

wtf

wary fjord
#

u can force fat32 64 and 128 gb drives on powershell @velvet summit

format /FS:FAT32 F:

#

but it will take a long time

copper fable
#

So yeah you can actually do that

velvet summit
#

honestly fat32 should just be obsolete

you're not supposed to open it

surreal kernel
velvet summit

yeah
well, im following the instruction for qflash plus, so it should be that name, but if it doesnt work, it wont write to the bios because it wouldnt even find the file

velvet summit
#

now copy it to the usb drive

#

leave a copy on your desktop just so you can do a checksum since you're worried about it not writing properly

surreal kernel

done

#

i dragged it

velvet summit
#

right click your desktop and click "open in terminal" (idk if you have that option in windows 10)

surreal kernel
velvet summit

just try, if not, then we'll have to do some navigation

type in cd .\Desktop\

now get-filehash GIGABYTE.bin

should i copy it

craggy shoal

oh so this is just an old CPU that he's using. gotcha

that would be correct if so

yes

below algorithm its sha256

proud jackal
velvet summit

alright, now open another powershell window, and this time type in cd D:\

now ti says

now type the same command as earlier for the file hash

surreal kernel

this

Sometimes this server says stuff like "I live in Houston and it's 29F outside. The power is out and my computer is on a UPS. Can I update the BIOS from a floppy drive?"

gleaming sedge
#

how hard is it to code a app or something that can look at photo data like the file format and the date of it and have it check a folder and if there is not a file that matches the type and date then it copies it to that folder?

craggy shoal
#

Or if you want to code, you can probably just learn Python real quick and code a program to find the meta/exif data

gleaming sedge
craggy shoal
#

Gotcha. I wouldn't know

#

I actually do know but it would take too long to explain and I'd probably just do it in a self-hosted server-based automated way anyways

craggy shoal
wary fjord

By verbally saying youre fat 32 times. XD jks aside is floppy rewritable?

wary fjord

U can do it night i believe in u

grand kernel

my PSU failed and I'm powering my PC with a wireless charger, can I update the bios from a cassette tape?

wary fjord
#

Hmmm xD

#

Even if thats possible i wont trust it.. the tape is so fragile

#

Might have corrupted one

gleaming sedge
wary fjord
#

Yeah just do it with python.

#

Loop, read, match, do something about the match results. And repeat.

#

I failed to see the point of your program xD does two images are same but one is updated one?

#

Can u just copy it over and skip all duplicate

gleaming sedge
#

its to backup data and make it where i dont have to sit here for a long time going through folders checking if its there or not then going and copy them over.

#

then i can clear the sd card and have a nice empty sd card

wary fjord
#

Why check time and date

#

Not file name

#

Surely its different each take

gleaming sedge
#

file name would not be a good way since like if i got a new camera the file names will start to be the same

wary fjord
#

So is the date

gleaming sedge
#

dates do not repeat

wary fjord
#

Have u tried hashing it instead xD

gleaming sedge
#

04/04/2023 vs 04/04/2024

tranquil pebble
wary fjord
#

Yeah but if u take a picture. The name in the sdcard is final unless u change it

#

I failed to see why will it change

#

It only Change on newer taken photos

gleaming sedge
#

thats why i dont care abou the name

pliant berry
#

I just have a separate application to import new photos and rename, renumber or enter metadata of the photos for certain events

wary fjord
#

Aight then do it

#

Thats alot of loop ngl xD

pliant berry
#

Most cameras only reset the naming sequence every 10000 photos

gleaming sedge
#

ok got it theres no point in backing up data and not spending hours just doing it your self

#

just another one of my stupid ideas

wary fjord
#

So you looping on sdcard.. and also looping on the backup folder.. u looping on backup folder each increments on the sdcard loop. U see how is it extensive xD.

gleaming sedge
#

im sorry you cant actually understand what id like

grand kernel
wary fjord
#

Index ur backups folder maybe

#

That can narrow it down

gleaming sedge
#

i have my backup folders set up nicely

pliant berry
#

Usually the way I do things is use my typical import process copying all photos to hard drive, sort through them and copy the ones I want to a dated folder structure handled by lightroom, after a few months after taking those photos and editing them I copy the dated folder to a backup server and delete the original full import of all the images from that month. I don’t have any fancy automatic backup since I usually just have to check the dates of the catalogs that are on the backup

wary fjord
#

I will just compare it by hash.

gleaming sedge
#

ill just have to deal with sitting here for 6+ hours doing what i have been doing

this is what part of my structure looks like, all raws in one folder, catalogs all separate

wary fjord

Thata alot of images and folders

#

Dont run your test code on your backup folder yet xD .. test it on other dummy folder's

#

Might accidentally wipe ur entire collection

pliant berry
#

yeah that's a little complicated I used to do something similar back in the day. now as i said all the actual photos (except for exports) are in a single dated folder for each company so like 2023 -> 2023-10-5 and then lightroom catalogs in that company directory in format 20231005 - (Location of Event) - (Descriptor of Event) and all the catalogs access the same raws folder.
so like 20240101 - Home Studio - New Years Concept Shoot that way I just scroll through or search for the approximate date and event of the shoot I am looking for

gleaming sedge
#

i guess i just like having things really sorted but also i dont have a way to make money off the photography so i probably really dont need anything fancy

pliant berry
#

yeah honestly it's easier to organize when you have work cuz you are kind of forced to come up with something to minimize time spent at the computer. my first paid shoot took me over 4 hrs to organize and sort because I didn't really have a methodology to it, now it takes me 30min-1hr.
I also changed how I did photos for family events and such since a lot of them were one offs. now ill dedicate a day or half a day to shooting something for testing and turn it into a project of sorts

velvet summit

Most power outages last for less than 10 minutes, and the ones that last for longer, there's not really much point in keeping the server up

pliant berry

yeah it's too expensive to run that kind of equipment for a long period of time on battery

gleaming sedge

ours have been lasting 5+ hours

If you know that you need it to stay on, you'll need to invest in a standby generator, either diesel or lpg powered

You can get a old consumer ups, and mod it so you can add more batteries in parallel

#

May need to add a fan and heatsinks to some components though because they may not be designed for long cycles

ancient swift
# velvet summit Tho 10 is quite a bit

What do people oftenly have their E Cores handle? on a Single screen handheld I just see you putting discord on it and maybe game launchers. which would be nice to offload, but 10 cores is wild lol.

Tho ig it could also be marketed for docking use

So you could use the handheld as a desktop replacement

They think the features they want are the only features companies should worry about.

Clearly theres no reason to get any other handheld. No ones ever been bothered by Lack of Anti Cheat or Native Game pass on the steam deck. or the performance lol.

No trackpads? DOA
No SteamOS? DOA, who cares if its Valves fault they don't have it.
No Anticheat support or a game that won't work on linux? Who cares, you don't need it.

They also hate it when you add Windows to the Deck because they think sleep(Called Hibernate on Windows) mode doesn't work on Windows.

north crescent
# ancient swift They think the features they want are the only features companies should worry a...

Trackpads are required cuz it adds 69% more perf to the game you're playing. All those fake YTers out there with fake benchmarks didnt enable trackpads to make SD a better perfer than Ally.
SteamOS is required cuz it generates electricity. As we all know that major generators operate around steam pushing a turbine, SteamOS does exactly that. It literally gives inf battery life when using at max usage.
Anti cheat doesnt exist. DRMs also dont exist. They are made up words. Literally not a single game that uses those fake technologies.
