Give it a few more minutes, then hit ctrl+c and tell me what the statistics say
ok
You want 0 lost packets and a fairly consistent average compared to max/min ping times
is the packets the TTL?
No, Time To Live is just a measure of how many network hops it takes to get to the destination
alright, should I wait some more or go ahead?
Go ahead and ctrl+c
You can screen snip the part of the window that has the stats so your user ID isn't shown
Yeah looks like there's some packets that had a huge delay
If wonder if the 5ghz vs 2.4ghz is an issue
Ok, do you know what your router IP address is?
is it the same as the IPv4 of the network connection?
Usually if your computer is 192.168.0.X your router will be 192.168.0.1
Once you have it do ping -t [router address] and let it work for a while.
If you still have some packets with high latency then the wifi is definitely the issue, whether that's the computer or router would be the next thing to check.
if im getting 3ms response times does that mean im just really close to my router or I typed the wrong address. I looked online and it said to use the default gateway address from ipconfig
3ms is normal on the local net
any suggestions for a desk chair not looking for the classic gaming style chair
I like office chairs with a mesh seat personally
Just make sure to get one rated for your weight, I've seen some that only support 80 lbs
ya ive been looking for a mesh one but they either look like they are going to fall apart or are like 1k
I'm sitting on a mesh seat right now. They don't fall apart, and I'm not exactly light.
Mesh doesn't wear out as fast as a padded seat
true, I wonder though like if they have pets if they'll destroy it faster
what brand is yours Fal'Cie
Some no name thing, lemme check
ok thanks
yo thats not a bad price thanks
good mesh is durable
alright I let it run for 15 minutes
37 is not a bad spike for wifi connection, so the issue must lie elsewhere in the network. Do you have a combo modem/router from your ISP or do you have separate units?
Yeah I have a combo "Gateway"
Ok, I'd talk to them about getting that replaced. Tell them you're having network stability issues.
ok will do, cause it just started recently with no changes to hardware or software other than installing a new driver for graphics and some games
thanks for the help
No problem
Someone has a good gaming mouse to recommand? My budget is like max $100CAD and I use palm grip
vaxee outset
Measure your hand size, and go to rocketjumpninja.com
i dont understand mania
Do all mice eventually develop a double click issue? or just mine
some develop double clicking some dont, depends on the switches and quality of the build of the mouse
some mice tend to develop double clicking quicker than other mice though
ah ok
Anyone know a site where it tests a keyboard's keys to see if there's a double key issue?
notepad
and then tapping keys
and seeing how many times they show up
lol
oh ok
osu mania

osu standard also hard
lol does more than 4 key make sense or is it just dumb
Is lubing a keyboard a one-time thing or do you have to keep on replacing the lube
lubing the switches and stab are more of a one-time thing, but you might have to redo switches if you got too much or too little lube for your taste
do you just wash it off and try again if that happens?
kinda depends, but you just use the brush to spread it out more or get more on there
You'll likely have to wash off factory lube depending on the switch though
no

4k player only

kot
hes like a collector of cheap keyboards
why have 1 expensive one when you can have many cheaper keebs
might actually be a custom keyboard
the portico is
i mean its a kit
others probs stock or have different switch and/or keycaps
prebuilts
Im sure 2 or 3 out of those 4 are just keychrons
thanks to royal kludge for sending me this keyboard so I could violate the hell out of it. it reminded me of all the nerf guns I would tear apart and somehow end up throwing them back together in some wack way that somehow works better than it originally did. I'm not sure why the I came up with all these awful things I could do to the keyboard, ...
For those who like to mod mod
like how he put cheap keyboards in title
That’s the keyboard he’s modding
Additional in stock acrylic color photos are here. The case has been updated to O-Ring mounting starting 7/9/21. This acrylic case design is for any 60 PCB that is Universal or at the very least shares a USB port location with Universal standards. The case uses a plate designed specifically for this case. You can subst
I have a tofu60, and a kbd67lite that’s coming in but this is pretty cool
Lots of customization
youll have fun modding the tofu
it has a lot of potential
67 lite mods dont change it much imo
Oh, I already modded the tofu
o nice
How much does modding a keyboard cost? i wanna buy a budget keyboard and hopefully make it sound better with it
what do you consider as "budget"
Lubed creams
true budget can mean $100 or $350
Whaddu think?
Every maybe 10clicks it makes a weird squeak
Probably a stab issue
But it’s 3weeks old
probs
What’s that
stabilizer
what kind of squeaking does it make
like a tick
and does the key move to one side or the other?
Lemme look
send a video if you can
I haven’t used it in a hour or so but after a few clicks you start to hear it
Disregard my unclipped finger nail
the key works right?
squeaky stab
looks like k552 to me for some reason, but if it is clip in stabs, you could lube them
don't you have to desolder though
wait no
thats if you have plate on
k552 is outemu hs innit
im stupid
but yeah if its clip you can just unclip
last i checked redragon made some of their boards outemu hs
not very good outemu hs granted
but still hs
apparently future funk had some issues with the icon mod kit so now i have a fix kit even though i sold my set as soon as i got it
Nice
wtb ansi enter
whats the difference
what are those keycaps on the second one
looks weird
uh you gotta specify
I think they’re asking about the set
there's 4 sets on it
I'm asking what lead them to putting 4 different sets on it
the sideways enter is on there because i only had an iso enter from a og cherry set but had a numpad enter, the dark blue delete is there because i don't have an ansi pipe key from the og set, and the cymw modifiers are there because the og set only had a long right shift and it looks nice
lmao how to tell if somebody has an og set
missing keys lol
Anyone have a good recommendation for a ~$70 65% gateron optical red mechanical keyboard?
why optical specifically?
i heard its smoother and has a longer lifespan and i think it gets rid of the double key issue that i have on my keyboard rn
like how an optical switch on a mouse gets rid of the double click issue
i mean if theres not many options i can go regular gateron red
It's just I would rather suggest hotswap mech boards
yea
optical switch on keyboard isn't the same thing as mice tbh
since, well, that really isn't the fault of being a mechanical switch, you could replace doubleclicking switches on a mouse with a dif mech switch on the mouse to fix the problem
^
certain problems with certain products doesn't make the whole category bad
ah ok so i can go gateron red then
prob true, since it doesn't actually have to touch anything
I wanna experience mx hyperglide tho
but shouldn't be really noticeable unless you get a really scratchy switch
i just wanna buy a reliable and cheap hot swappable keyboard to cheaply mod
https://www.amazon.com/Keychron-Swappable-Bluetooth-Mechanical-Rechargeable/dp/B0836C3X3R?th=1 this one?
Keychron has a bunch of different boards for different layouts, any of them works, as long as you grab the hotswap mechanical option
https://www.keychron.com/
Amazon does have cheaper shipping tho
i was looking at this one https://www.amazon.com/ROYAL-KLUDGE-Stand-Alone-Hot-Swappable-Switch/dp/B08G52MB1J/ref=sr_1_5?dchild=1&keywords=rk68&qid=1634438213&s=electronics&sr=1-5&th=1
for $50
or is keychron more reliable
what makes it different?
nicer stab
the switch isn't as good as ones in keychron too
Not crappy Bluetooth either
what if you're planning on lubing them yourself
just having better stabs in general is also nice
^
ah ok
for the rk i want, it seems to use some huano stuff
keychron barely has any stock in my country ree
just get straight from keychron and pay the shipping :p
they have thai shop but the ones i want don't really got stock
Ooh, they now have registered people only order system
Either way you’ll have to mod it
where are the keyboard warriors at
LMAO
LMAO
hey, guys anyone know anything about docking stations with power passthrough?
been looking and haven't found one.... well... found one and lost the link.... which is frustrat
frustrtating
Most Windows laptops won't easily accept a Power Pass through. Since most of them need more than 45w of power.
If it's for a MacBook, you need one that is certified to work with Macbooks
darn i posted in wrong channel
new project, only at 120 grit and might torch it to get some colors since it's steel
Nice
probably not going to get a mirror polish, also only have 800 grit iirc and kneedeep says he uses 4k for mirror stuff
if you guys went from a keyboard with arrow keys to a 60%, how did it feel? was it more annoying that you'd rather get one with arrow keys?
i'm not quite sure what things would really benefit from having the arrow keys but i might not be thinking hard enough where i use them
its fine aslong as you can remap keys/second layer functions
thats pressing FN + some keys right
what would be the best key mapping for the arrow keys if so
ah ok thank you
Just have a 60% with arrow keys
I was looking at some budget ones but the ones with the arrow keys have ABS keycaps, which i heard isn't that good
the other one is $50 with double-shot pbt though
SK64 vs DK61E
most keybaords around that price range will be the same for the most part
i'd get pbt but sacrifice arrow keys, or arrow keys with abs
i honestly dont know if it makes a difference at all
lot easier to swap keycaps than pcb/layout
Guys is the new wooding keyboard the fastest one now?
if you have a board with split right shift, the key to the right makes a nice fn+ijkl arrows or whaver hhkb has (really nice layout)
wdym by fastest?
and it's called wooting
It's just got analog switches
So you basically get controller levels of flexibility in terms of sensitivity
Not exactly, it's far from it but it's the best for a keyboard lel
I don't see the benefits of it much
Unless you're a pro esports player or something
Cause keychron has normal but decent keyboards for half price
rk has cherry??????
That’s what the website says
rks kinda scuffed in terms of telling some things
sometimes it's proprietary (maybe that's huano), and sometims gateron
haven't seen them use outemu tbh
is this Krytox205g0 that they use in all mods or is it different? or is it still fine to use it
205g0 is just the lube that works for basically everything
sure you might want to use like 3203 for some switches, but 205g0 can work too
what lube is best for a Gateron Optical Red?
Reason: Bad word usage
...
Nah you can lube opticals it’s just a different technique
^
^
^
never buying a coarsair keybord again
Smart choice
anyone know what's better for typing, Gateron Optical Red or Gateron Optical Silver?
Probably neither. Silvers are going to be super light. And Reds are gonna be pretty light.
You're gonna bottom them out a lot
skiptrace hve you been up to date with iems
A little
you know anything about katos, falcon pros or new hanas
Anyone know where I can get the mw65 outside of Asia?
i wanna get new iems but dont wanna spend 320 on b2d so 200 is like my budget
and idk
Low key about the translate taobao and see if I can get it lol
I hear New Hana is ok
no need to
I know nothing about Kato
There's also those Drop JVC iems
and those 3 iems have my attention rn
and i heard a lot of good things about the jvcs
🙀
I just recently decided to say F it and I bought K612 Pros
I don't expect them to be an amazing gaming upgrade. But I expect them to be lighter than my HE-X4s
Sundaras are probably heavy too
chinese vendors that would run a proxy gb from taobao
or basically, find a decent proxy & taobao agent to find it for you
better if you just grab some links since that'd make finding easier
What are the all the possible best meta mods to apply to a mechanical keyboard?
That very much is... a weird question
ok ty
Polyfill is really only needed for crappy boards.
Lube and Tape are common mods for Switches and Stabs respectively
tape as in pcb tempest mod
I need to get new switches, and stabs for my board.
pcb and case tape are getting more popular
polyfill also a popular alternative to pe foam
it's a little "classier"
Using a big O ring and friction fitting your cheap keyboard by taking off your stand offs in a tray mount is popular too
Going plateless as well
Using just the PCB foam to keep the switches from wobbling too much
Making your own silicone mold
I saw a video of keybored ordering springs to mount his tofu65 as well
Lots of things to try and explore
#Keybored Head to https://squarespace.com/keybored to save 10% off your first purchase of a website or domain using code KEYBORED
So if you remember... One of my early videos that helped me get into content creation was my TOFU65... Specifically, the O-Ring Mounted TOFU65. The O-Ring helped to elevate the mere tray mounted TOFU65 to something ...
Disregard the first part of the video it’s trolling
tape mod if you have a bad board
thanks to royal kludge for sending me this keyboard so I could violate the hell out of it. it reminded me of all the nerf guns I would tear apart and somehow end up throwing them back together in some wack way that somehow works better than it originally did. I'm not sure why the I came up with all these awful things I could do to the keyboard, ...
Lots of mods here as well, and he uses the RK 60% everyone gets now that was sent to him to put some of those mods into practice
pennies worth more than board
disposal mod best mod
screwdriver mod
It’s whatever
I have fun
Nothing to be upset about
Or judge
Just do whatever makes you happy
Whatever sound you like
Whatever mod and feel you like
Look
Etc
Anyone know what keycaps Are compatible for the hyper x red linear switches
what keyboard
It's a cherry stem, so any keycaps compatible for cherry stem switches
(but some keyboards have weird keycap sizes so that may become an issue, looking at you, Corsair bottom row)
what keycaps fit k95
yeah well
i got this kb for free
Yeah well, have fun finding 6.5u space bar
Hmmm them new airpods look enticing
no anc at that price point is kinda insane
air pods =poop then again I only have the first ones but I still prob would think their not that good
the pros are p good in terms of sound quality
anc wise it use to be at the top until new earphones this year came out
I’d rather buy another pair of Bose headphones then pay 250 for those
Yeah I’m gonna get first gen pros when they replace them
They have enough of the things I need
Using 20$ haylou gt1 pros and they work like a dream
I’m not an audiophile at all
from what leaks are saying, the new pros are gonna be the same for the most part
kinda like how airpod gen 2 and gen 1 was
Just need them to be in ear and convenient and light
battery and other small changes
And I’m already in the Apple ecosystem
their new macbook is really tempting
I hate the notch and some of the design choices like that ugly letter on the underside of the case
def not a fan of the notch but it has a lot to offer
The usb c port is in the middle between the hdmi and sd card slot
But yeah
They delivered hard
Hope the graphs are real
my main interest is m1 really
Because performance would be insane.
and the display
120hz finally
1000 nits lol
Can display 1 billion colors 🤤
my current laptop drains too quickly so im planning on sending it back
I try and temper my excitement until reviewers I trust use it
m1 has been very tempting
The 17 hour battery life is crazy too
and ye, i wanna wait for reviews and maybe try a display unit
First M1 already had insane battery that’s proven
2000 is steep though, i feel like they could of released it at 1600
would of been still a decent jump from their current macbook pro
tru
You can’t really complain too much
mini led and m1 pro
I’ll try a display and look at reviews
tbh, id trade mini led for a nice ips screen
Im willing to fork up the cash
That notch hurts though
Maybe they did it to stand out
But why
Lol
It’s in the menu bar so no big deal but so bad
Hopefully dark mode hides it better
if they added face id then itd make sense
Full screen video I guess they’ll just black out that top part
Idk just weird
Prob Face ID coming in later designs
I like the look of macbooks but I wouldn’t personally own one
i dont like apple but i entirely disagree
i actively hate anc so fine by me
but 170$ instead of 250 is nais
Maybe for the earbud market their Good idk tho but I prefer on ears
And I love my Bose stuff
yeah i like my on ears but sometimes earphones just more convenient
if ur comparing apple prices then its not too bad
compared to the alternatives its p bad
im interested because they removing the tips
even tho airpod support on android not great they like the only non tip option lol
I've tried, tips just irritate my ears, they weird so
ye its different for everyone
180 for a basic wireless earbud jus seems steep compared to the rest of the market
ye but then again thats jus comparing it to the pros, rest of the market is already offering all of that at a cheaper price point
yeah but no other earphones have no type of squishy tip
airpods og style only ones that have been okay in my ears not uncomfy etc
rip
yeah :/
Apple
anyone know a really good control pad for a game like valorant?
check pins
anyone familiar with ethernet over coax
You mean moca? Yes
cool
workin on subwoofer box for car
the sub i picked up for 20 dollar at a yard sale doesnt fit, so i gotta build one that fits
Interesting
yees
the one i got has a vented design, so the box is of a higher volume
im gonna put the actual speakers into a sealed container so i can cut down the volume of the box
by a whole 2 cubic feet!
i've seen videos where they lube all springs in a bag with krytox105, but is it necessary? or can you lube it with 205g0
it costs like an extra 10 bucks for it though so i wanna save some money if you dont really need it
you could use superlube
is it better to do it with that? idk if its gonna be consistent compared to lubing by hand
gets the job done
not sure if its more/less consistent but all my springs come out fine
arent the 205g0 and 105 different consistencies?
or do they come out the same
at the end
105 is oil base
i only bag lube my springs
some ppl bag lube stems too but you can get inconsistencies with it
ah i see
for linears i do superlube on springs and 205 for stem
i use to lube bottom housing but now i dont
wait why
How do you know if you under or overlube?
ah ok
Hey hum just wanted to ask a question
Does a gaming router improve the quality of my wifi?
Or like it only increase the signal
Reason: Bad word usage
But what's the use of a gaming router then?
And what does a high end router-
Like does it upgrade the quality of the internet or...
Because my internet is really bad
So I'm searching for a way to upgrade it
Depends on your setup and everything
What's the wifi card you use?
Or usb wifi, or mobo model
And the speed of your internet package
Then what do you get when you use it on your stuff
in love with all of my logitech wireless gear battery life is unreal and quality and performance is amazing
Not really, some "gaming" routers have some special Packet Prioritization rules that, realistically with any good router you could set up yourself.
If you are having issues with Wi-Fi Speeds, you may need to take a look at whether your router is capable of outputting a 5Ghz signal, and whether your Wi-Fi card is capable of at least Wi-Fi 5 (many older cards would say 802.11AC or 802.11N, both of these standards can accept a 5Ghz signal from a compatible router)
If your Router isn't able to output a 5Ghz signal, you will want to upgrade it
If your router is able to, but your PC can't accept it because the Wi-Fi card is too old, then you will want to upgrade the Wi-Fi card.
Amplifi did some weird things for their "gaming" router
Amplifi routers seem pretty poggers
I mean, it's kinda nice to have a clock and other useful information on your AP
So you can actually incorporate your Router or AP into your decor
As opposed to keeping it stuffed in a cabinet which is bad for your Wi-Fi signal
Though, If I ever get a large sum of money, I'm putting it all into buying Ruckus gear for when I get my own home.
Hello all - I looking for a docking station with MST that allows me to display different content on 3 monitors + my laptop.
I currently have a TOTU but occasionally something goes wonky and the monitors disconnect. I think it overheats and now have a couple 80mm fans blowing at it. I was leery about buying it in the first place since I had never heard of it.
I have (2) 1080p and (1) 4K monitors. All offer HDMI or DP. My work laptop that I'll be connecting to is a Microsoft Surface Laptop 3.
Thanks in advance for the help!!
That uhh, might overload the little GPU in the Surface Laptop 3...
Not 100% sure though.
And that could also possibly be outside of the Thunderbolt 3 spec. But... I'm also not 100% familiar with TB3 Docking Stations/Dongles.
https://www.amazon.com/Kensington-SD4900P-Display-MacBooks-K36800NA/dp/B07WZR19D9 I found this thing
For an exorbitant price
Sadly the Surface Dock 2 is A. Out of Stock and B. Only supports 2 monitors at 4K60
As long as there isn't any crazy 3D rendering going on it should be fine. TB3 can handle 2x4k60 monitors, to get the third monitor you'd need a splitter
That's kinda what I thought.
Looks like this Kensington station uses 2x Thunderbolt and 1x USB-C Alt Mode
And has 60w of USB Power Delivery
So the TOTU works for the most part. However, like I said, it occasionally drops off. I haven't 100% pinpointed the issue, but I'm sure it has to do with heat build up inside it (no venting at all) and/or drivers going out of sync between the DisplayLink driver & Intel driver.
The challenge when looking this kind of product is there seems to be confusion when referring to a 3 monitor dock and 4 monitor dock. I really only want to connect 3 monitors to the dock but some seem to consider the laptop as a 4th monitor.
Anyway, the Kensington does look promising. Although I have to admit that I've not always found Kensington to be consistent in quality.
Others I've come across:
1 - Baseus (https://www.amazon.com/Baseus-Universal-Compatibility-1000Mbps-Ethernet/dp/B08X6TZ7B2) seems like it will work but don't want to go with yet ANOTHER brand that only exists on Amazon.
2 - Anker (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B088F7SY6S) I've heard of but don't recall them being that high of a quality brand.
3 - Wavlink (https://www.amazon.com/WAVLINK-Universal-Docking-Station-Charging/dp/B08CK1HKNV) Is a known brand and this one SEEMS like it should work the way I would like it to, but it doesn't really come out and say/show that it will.
Nope - no crazy graphics stuff. I do SEO so LOTS and LOTS of tabs open.
Sounds like you just need like, 2 large 4K TV's
Just a thought.
Because the larger screen would let you cram more tabs/windows onto more square footage.
In theory at least.
But, Anker is definitely a quality brand
They make a ton of Chargers and Cables for portable devices.
But, the Anker dock looks like it's pure USB-C
Not Thunderbolt
What you want is a Thunderbolt dock
Because your Surface Laptop 3 supports Thunderbolt 3
https://www.amazon.com/WAVLINK-Thunderbolt-DisplayPort-Charging-Ethernet/dp/B07WG1ZN9C/ref=sr_1_19 This would get you close.
2 DisplayPort outputs
Wait what
This thing doesn't have Thunderbolt?!?
WTF
Oh... the 15" has an AMD CPU
You really want a Surface Dock 2 then
That will unlock all of the potential of the Surface Laptop 3
Oh
Actually, what you want to do isn't even supported on the Surface Dock 2 with the Surface Laptop 3
You're just screwed either way
Add Thunderbolt 4 to your next device you stupid company.
I'd avoid the kensington, both from price and it being kensington
The anker one looks to be your best bet. The baseus seems to be spotty on quality, and the wavlink only supports two external monitors from what I can see
Wtf is that abomination?
dimension testing without using too much filament
I mean the headphones
I've never seen those before.
Amazon plz...
I need my new K612 Pros to arrive BEFORE my Wife arrives home...
oh they're the nectar hives
Oh, right you're building the Energizer for those.
- Case Foam
- Tempest Mod
- Lube
- PE Foam
- Holee Mod
- Gasket O-Ring Mod
these are all the mods that I should use or am i missing something?
You don't even really NEED to mod your board.
The best thing you can do is Lube your switches.
Start there.
Unless your board is crappy, you probably won't need anything more than Lubing your switches.
im trying to make it sound the possible best
since im using a 50 dollar keyboard i dont think it'll be as good
Yeah, i'd sell the board for something that is better from the factory.
Like a Keychron
Personally I'd mod your stabs before lubing your switches
Fair, Stabs are quite finicky.
That said I have switches that don't really need lube. If you have cheap linears it might be different
a lotta cheap linears are actually p good
Yeah, I'm probably about to get some of the Yellows that are good and cheap
Mmm tofu stir fry sounds good now
That moment when you can't tell if you're talking about food or keyboards anymore
You'll probably be spending as much money as the keyboard on mods lol
true
the only thing im not certain is the o ring mod. i see videos where they do it on pretty much all tofu boards but idk about other ones
O-ring is most commonly used on tray mounts since the other mounts are pretty fine as is
i haven't used a single mod besides lube+film if that counts and my board is fine
wait what are tray mounts
@granite wedge the thing is, the only mod that usually makes some difference across the board is just lubing stabs
Foam only helps in some places if the board is too hollow
Holee is what it is, you could try it if you want
but the more the better right
What
Like if you add too much lube it'll feel squishy
Too much foam and it can just be too stiff, unless you want that for some reason
T shirt mod
does that replace the case foam mod?
yea lol
@granite wedge there's a t shirt mod where you just put a t shirt around the keyboard so the sounds sound slightly better, but it's more of a joke than actually useful
And ofc no matter how much small modding you do, you can't fix issues, only make things a little bit better
And mods don't always do anything tbh
Would rather reccomend buy/build new keeb from that one on :p
expensive tho
If you just want a quality keeb to use for a while, go like Leopold kinda thing
i've been using this mx blue reddragon for 5 years and it's been decent
Keyboards are a fun hobby, but that's just what it is, a fun hobby. :p
can get costly tho lol
oh nice
i just searched mechanical keyboard and bought the first thing there
lucky
I mean
also i got it for a discount of $10 off
A 5$ keyboard from the dollar store will be decent to some people
People just don't have anything to compare it against
Until they try something else
Then realize it's crap
yep
Ignorance is bliss
I can't imagine spending $5 on a keyboard
Not when I have 3 I got for free
I feel personally attacked
Yes
:(
fiend
u guys type/game with your keyboard legs up or down?
what's the point in them anyway
I used to do up, but now i prefer flat
Preference/ergonomics
"ergonomics"
Most boards are fine flat.
ok thx
Personally I can't stand flat
oh fun
lol
anyone running moca?
car stereo came in
Yes
Having issues? Or need parts recommendations?
Mould
these ksc75 are actually heckin insane
Did you buy an Apple USB-C to 3.5mm DAC?
my brother didn't buy but it really is crystal
compared it with shp9500 and tfz t2 iems
now i kinda feel like tfz t2 sounds muddy to me loll
will it generally get better on most headphones?
Yes.
because I'll buy one for myself
The Apple Dongle is the gateway to a world of better audio.
It's 9 USD on the Apple Website. And it sounds
what would be a decent pair of open back headphones better than shp?
KSC75's
i plan on upgrading it once I'll get the Samson mic
I'm not a fan of it feeling like it's gonna fall off, also not super comfortable for me
I personally just got a pair of K612 Pros, sound great for gaming, and they are decent enough at music.
How are they not comfortable?
Gotta bend the earclips
And, I've never had mine fall off unless I accidentally got up and forgot they were on my head.
nah they don't fall off, it just feels not secure but that's probably my fault
I'll adjust it later and test it out when my brother won't use
any other recommendations for a mic? the q2u is up for $76
Not really unless you want to spend more and get a full XLR setup.
is $76 a good price for those?
Bit high for q2u but eh
I got my Q2U with a kit that had a Boom Arm
1000PHP is around $20
i have a mic arm but i'm not sure if it will fit with the samson
good to know
It's basically the same size as the SM58 which is a very popular mic
Bought a c1, stabs actually had a generous amount of lube
Like, maybe too much when some is already getting on the pcb
Interesting
Actually, spoke too soon, seems inconsistent (enter stab here)
Hm thats pretty good
Thats not so good
I don’t have krytox but can I lube my switches with thermal paste?
NO
Anyways going over and re-lubing all the stabs other than spacebar now
my cousin is trying to buy 100 dollar razer barracuda x headphones
someone please gib better suggestion
with built in mic
pc37x perhaps
130 dollars
I need something either just as expensive or cheaper
to even begin to convince them
koss gmr air then

oh that one
not talking about ksc75x
scraight up
ksc75x is good but looks wacky if you want to convince 'gamer'
AAAAAAAAAAA
althought
I pointed them to a 60 dollar pair of corsair and logitech
and they said they dont want those brands
So I said arctis 5
and hyper x cloud 2
don't use lube then
But can glue work as lube?
I need to make a headset that can be like upgraded
like have a line of headphones, and sell things to make the cheaper headphones better
so you can upgrade them or fix them as you get the money
imagine
mm idk
this is why I haven't made said heaphones ig
also they didnt take my hyper x cloud suggestion
:(
If someone spilled water into a keyboard pcb and with somewhat speed unplugged the keyboard
should I Just let it air dry?
and no rice
Air dry
alrighty
You can run many keyboards through the dishwasher and they're fine
Stiff keys
And wouldn't make any smoother, will have the opposite effect
https://novelkeys.com/collections/switches/products/nk_-cream-series?variant=41496984682663 More cream switches
Well specifically cream tactile
NK turning into JWK
spelled tecsee wrong
ok so fishy you got tubes
do you like them?
anyone with the pe foam mod in their keyboards run into any issues after a long period of time? also, what kind of pe foam did you guys use
I mean if you stuff too much maybe you'll slowly damage the PCB by bending it or smth
meh
Gaming Headsets bad.
apart from mh 751/752 from cooler master
that one has decent price at like 50 iirc, or even less
good audio quality and mic
Kuro
@sly warren closed back or open back?
I prefer Open Back, but if you have a noisy environment, then Closed Backs are good.
recommendations on any closed back ones?
Typically though, you can get IEMs for cheaper that beat most Closed Backs in sound quality and technical details and isolation too.
for general use
Well, are you dedicated to the Over-ear gang? Or would you be ok with In Ear Monitors?
80 dollars gets you the excellent Moondrop Arias
I love my Arias, they are a super fun sound signature, and have pretty good isolation
For Closed Back Over-Ears you have the AKG K361 or K371, whichever you can get for cheaper.
Both AKG's sound nearly the same.
lol more converters
i do, very much, however tubes spensive
imo, better to cheap out on a good solid state amp and dump the extra cash into better headphones

Why the heck did the Rose Gold KBD75 V3.1 sell out already?
I'd bet my wife would kill to have a Rose Gold keyboard.
I’m ready to order my headphones. My budget is $150. Should l get the k371 or the k371bt?
Ok thx
Reason: Bad word usage
Reason: Too many infractions
breaking a rule

Is a $400 headset worth it compared to a $120 one?
Define "worth it"
To an average person like me, no not really.
To an audiophile that can tell the difference between 58khz and 60khz, maybe.
I'm happy with my $120 headset. I've never used a $400 one, and they're going on sale
Will it help my gaming experience.
?
Probably not. Emulated surround from a single driver is... Eh.
If there's actually multiple drivers in the headset for surround, that would be nice.
Gotcha. Thanks
A surround speaker system would be best
I had a friend with a $400 headset that swore by it, and I saw people online saying they're worth it
You can always test drive the headset. Either borrow from that friend or buy one from a place with a good return policy.
That way you really know if it's worth it to you.
Maybe. Thanks
What are the actual headsets in question?
If the $400 one is the Audeze Mobius or Penrose, those are both VERY good headsets overall. I can't 100% recommend them because they can be a bit heavy (Planar Magnetic + Wireless == Heavy AF)
Does anyone know how good the roccat kanga mini is? im getting a kone pro since it's on discount from them and they send a free pad so yeah
If I have a good $120 gaming headset already, is that upgrade worth the money?
IMO the best upgrade is a separated Mic and Headphones. Why half-butt 1 thing when you can whole-butt 2 things?
Audeze Mobius is probably the peak of Gaming Headsets outside of something stupidly overpriced like Audeze LCD-GX (which also needs a DAC and Amp)
whats yalls opinion on 60%/65%/75%/100% keyboards for a keyboard build
i love the ten keys so i always go 100%
i also have the fidelio x2hrs...i thought they were MEH when i got them. I had them plugged into my motherboard directly. Well, i just got a soundblasterx g6 friday and HOLY CRAP what a difference. Music/gaming/movies sound SOOOO good on these things.
Tkl tkl tkl tkl
Better headphones make things sound a lot better, but a competitive advantage? Sometimes, with better sound stage.
And of course, most gaming headsets kinda suck in general, and you really need to check and research things before buying a 400$ headset, should prob also get amp&dac and all
^
quality audio is always going to better your gaming experience. How? Depends on what you're playing. Like Mr1111 said about soundstage, its very very helpful in competitive shooters. I'm able to pinpoint enemy positions a lot more accurately since getting into open back headphones.
imaging
Not that closed back headphones can't have good sound stage, just that open back headphones tend to be better
60
cheaper to get a decent soundstage in open back for budget id say
but imaging also very important for games
yeah youre right. For what they are, my plantronics rig 800s had pretty good sound stage, albeit virtual still felt really large. I had the PC38X, which sounded great but they were so UNCOMFORTABLE on my round ass, big ass head.
The PC38X is a really good "gaming headset" for most uses, if you either a. dont have a pumpkin for a head like i do or b. have the patience to break in the headband a little.
I mean, you can buy aftermarket cups and such if that's the issue
it was the clamping force
Ah, fair
and theyre not round cups
and i wear glasses
and have a head shaped like a state fair winning canteloupe 😆
I love these fidelios. Got them on sale and now im listening to master cuts on TIDAL and its a whole new world. Hell even Doom Eternal, cranked up, felt so god damn good.
Nice music is nice
Actually having any real amp can really give headphones the oomph it needs to sound great and be immersive
I need to figure out why theres a buzzing sound whenever i pause the song or switch songs but its only when using spotify or tidal never during gaming
Interference perhaps
Some people will stretch out the headband and put it on a box or something like that for a few hours or so for clamp force
On some headphones that is
Or you just buy AKGs with the suspension headband and never have to worry about clamp force.
TKL
or 75%
im a big fan of full keyboards
i use the numpad a decent bit and they arent that much more expensive than tkl
my fidelios have a suspension headband and theyre so very comfy
They also have Hella treble grai
*grain
theyre great.
for $140 it was either that or the DT990's and i heard those are awfully harsh.
For 140 you could have gotten K371's
A MUCH better headphone
Or DT880s
Which are also better
Or you could have gone dirt cheap and gotten KSC75, which are also better than any Phillips headphone.
How are those comfort wise
My dumbass thinking you got mod because your name is red
Lots of people thinking that for some reason
i read in many different forums the sound stage on the k371 doesn't compare to the x2hrs. I mainly use these for FPS games, so the X2HR was the better choice, as much as I love AKG. And I looked at the DT880's but the fixed cable kind of turned me off.
Anybody here have the Huntsman V2 TKL? 🤔 I’m thinking about getting it around christmas (pls ping me if you reply)
yeah i wonder why
who knew if you have a name colored all red people might think ur a mod
is the logitech z120 good for a budget speaker?
All 3 of those headphones are very comfortable.
If your using them for FPS games then you could have gotten AKG K612 Pros for better Imaging and Soundstage. Along with a more pleasant Sound Profile.
I'd disagree with at least the ksc75 being comfortable, I personally can't stand them
Have you changed the angle of the clips? Or even replaced the clips with the Partsexpress Headband? Or added Yaxi Pads for more padding and comfort?
There's a lot of cheap small mods you can do to the KSC75 to make them REALLY good.
No, because they aren't my headphones
I'd bet one, or more of those mods would improve the comfort.
For you specifically I should say.
Maybe, but I doubt it would be enough
Personally the stock clips with a small bend was all I needed to get literal all-day comfort from my KSC75
They just feel wrong to me
Is it the lack of a headband?
More that there's something behind my ear, I'm fine with in ear ear buds
You'd probably be best off with the Partsexpress Headband mod.
Or just buying a more comfortable headset
I mean, the KSC75 with the partsexpress headband basically fixes your entire problem with them.
It adds a headband, which removes the clips.
So, there's nothing behind your ear.
Also, I thought there was a rule on this server that you needed a name that is pronouncable.
Alright, but I'd then have to fix my second biggest problem with them
What's that?
I hate on ear
I'm sorry? KSC75 and PortaPros are what actually broke my "On Ear bad" streak.
The first time I tried on-ear headphones was a pair that came with some Nintendo DS accessory pack
And they sucked
So, I thought all On-ear headphones just sucked.
They pretty much do
And then a bunch of people in the audio-gear channel on the /r/ipod discord told me to buy KSC75 and PortaPros
I don't care if you like them, I can't stand them
And, my whole world was flipped upside down.
Tldr, they require a mod to even be usable and even after that they suck. Other people might be fine with them but I'm not
I will admit, the KSC75 aren't the best headphone if you have a very large budget. But in the Sub-100 category? Unless you need Isolation, the KSC75 basically kicks the crap out of 99.99% of headphones.
I mean, the mod is only needed if you can't stand the clips.
And it isn't really even a mod.
And I can't
The Partsexpress Headband is literally a snap-in replacement.
My headset cost less and is more comfortable, easy pick if you ask me
How did it cost LESS than KSC75?
a really nice sale
KSC75's are 25 bucks, and then the headband is like, 5.
And if you want to make the KSC75 even more comfy on top of that you can add Yaxi Pads for another 10 bucks.
Hell, I love my KSC75 so much I'm gonna buy a modded set for a removable cable from a reputable modder on Ebay.
That's what, $40 bucks now?
Yeah, it's 25 bucks for the headphones, anything else on top is optional.
And then how much for a mic
I very much doubt you bought something for cheaper than 25 bucks that sounds better.
I need a headset
Well, you could start with KSC75X
Which has an in-line mic that sounds quite good.
That's... 30 bucks
Cool, so 45 after making them usable and they're still on the ear
Comfort. I have large ears that stick out, kinda like the guy in my pfp. I got my headset for $23, no mods needed and very comfortable
I don't care about isolation
Weird, I guess I expected the KSC75 to be BETTER for larger ears due to being on-ear.
¯_(ツ)_/¯
Yeah, maybe for flat ears
Fair play.
For me on ear smashes them
That dirt-cheap headset must have some BIG earcups then.
Yup
Another reason I bought it
Passable sound quality and cheap
Comfortable, built in boom mic with a mute button
If I want to listen to music and have it actually sound nice I'll just throw it on our audio system in the living room
some on ears are fine, porta pros although on ear i sometimes forget im wearing them
does anayone know if the stabalizers on the razer blackwidow are changable cause the space bar one kinda sucks
The stabs on my blackwidow can come out, I've a chroma v2 iirc but i can't speak for any other black widow
Anybody know of a White RGB Wireless mouse that is good?
What budget what grip what size
is there replacement glide pads for g305 that i can find online?
what wireless headphones for gaming are good
About the only good one is the Audeze Mobius/Penrose
anyone wanna give me a top 5 list of keyboards to waste my money on, not ones that I have to actually build
Topre, leopold, varmilo
nice top 5
that opinion is just wrong
I'm a membrane MX style switch guy
honestly i am probably going to stick with my dell kb1421
i like it over the tecware phantom
anybody know how to fix a key not responding all the time
what keeb
classic, sure, the rest of the statement, uh, no
lol
but anyways I kinda just want to tell them to buy new keeb
unless it's hotswap already
then just switch switches out
i like those but i like the shape and keycaps of the kb1421 a little bit better
also i have nostalgia for the kb1241 because thats what i used in primary school
