tardy mortar
#

Or will any keycaps fit

daring zenith
#

there's profile and then there's the style

#

most keycaps would be cherry style

#

or whatever it's called

#

some keycap profiles for example

#

oem most common

tardy mortar
#

What on here indicated what keycaps i should get

daring zenith
#

basically

#

if your switch stem is a cross

#

it's gonna be cherry style

tardy mortar
#

Oh ok

daring zenith
#

and gateron switches are

daring zenith
tardy mortar
#

Well my keyboard is gateron red switches

daring zenith
#

it's sometimes 6.25u, sometimes 7u, sometimes 6.5u

tardy mortar
#

For spacebar?

daring zenith
#

yes

split nimbus
#

Looks like that one is a 6.25? Am I counting right?

tardy mortar
daring zenith
#

should be 6.25u

split nimbus
#

By counting

daring zenith
#

it's the most common size too

#

1u = 1 key wide basically

tardy mortar
#

What are you counting tho

#

Ohh

#

It says 61 keys

split nimbus
#

15u wide

tardy mortar
#

Sorry idk what that means or how i can apply that

split nimbus
#

Each of the smaller keys down there are 1.25u

tardy mortar
#

Got it

#

There has to be somewhere i can just search for replacement caps for the anne pro2? Its a common keyboard

daring zenith
#

doesn't have to be replacement caps

#

just get caps you like

split nimbus
#

15u - 7*1.25u gives you a 6.25u spacebar

#

That's a pretty common layout for 60%

tardy mortar
#

Honestly i just hate that it says anne pro2 in orangish brown on side of spacebar

tardy mortar
split nimbus
daring zenith
daring zenith
#

not the full keycap set

split nimbus
#

Well, they would work except for them being out of stock

daring zenith
#

base set out of stock

split nimbus
#

Yeah

daring zenith
#

but also, 76$ keycaps for a keyboard that's worth like 80$ lel

split nimbus
#

It's the first 60% I found on kbdfans

tardy mortar
#

Okay thanks guys

daring zenith
#

doesn't have to be 60%

#

full set will work

#

you'll just have extra keycaps

split nimbus
#

As long as it has the right sizes

daring zenith
#

yeye

#

tbh, I want some gmk keycaps for my keychron board

split nimbus
#

Some full size sets only have full size :(

tardy mortar
#

I guess idk how exactly to know if its right sizes still

split nimbus
#

They should say the sizes

tardy mortar
#

Ok

#

So spacebar 6.25

split nimbus
#

If not, you can figure it out from the pictures

daring zenith
#

I don't but kinda do want to get gmk storm

tardy mortar
#

Ok

daring zenith
#

tho now that I think about it

#

60% might have smol right shift

#

well

#

for example, keychron full and 60% board size charts:

tardy mortar
#

Ah

#

So i can always rely on center keys to be right size

split nimbus
#

Those are always 1u unless there's something really weird going on

daring zenith
#

mmm

split nimbus
#

I've seen some ergo boards where some of the letter keys are 1.25u

daring zenith
#

ergo boards are weird

tardy mortar
split nimbus
#

They all seem to

daring zenith
#

weird retailer but prob

split nimbus
#

Take a look around kbdfans or such too though, there are all sorts of cool sets

daring zenith
#

divinikeys and novelkeys should be good too

daring zenith
#

interesting sublegends

split nimbus
#

Yee

tardy mortar
#

Are puddings gonna be expensive regardless? They seem to be pricey compared to other i see

daring zenith
#

What are those?

#

uh, puddings are the cheapest keycaps I usually see....?

#

like look on amazon they're like 20-30$

tardy mortar
#

Oh ok

#

Yeah but i can find others on amazon for like 10-15

#

But ok

daring zenith
#

I doubt those would be decent

tardy mortar
#

Lol ok

daring zenith
#

I go by different standards prob

split nimbus
#

Puddings are pretty

daring zenith
#

hkgaming is the only low end keycaps I would know

#

it's all cheap relative to gmk kits :(

split nimbus
#

Puddings are double shot pbt iirc

#

So decent quality

tardy mortar
#

These look good?

#

Hk

daring zenith
#

beauty is in the eye of the beholder

tardy mortar
#

I mean i dont rly have to worry about caps being low quality just switches right?

split nimbus
#

You do actually

bleak ember
#

I know the HyperX puddings are pretty popular

#

not sure how good they are

daring zenith
#

you do but like

#

it's cheap keycaps

split nimbus
#

Bad caps are kinda annoying

tardy mortar
daring zenith
#

puddings aren't exactly known for longevity

#

they're more throwaway than anything >:P

tardy mortar
#

Ah ok

bleak ember
#

Literally looks the same as the other brands on amazon

split nimbus
#

Eh

daring zenith
#

it ain't no 200$ gmk set

tardy mortar
split nimbus
#

They last well enough

#

You might get some shine on the more used keys though

daring zenith
#

6 months vs 6 years yaknow

#

but yea

tardy mortar
#

Im not going for premium lol, do u think they would be same quality as stock anne pro2 caps?

split nimbus
#

I do know that pbt tends to feel very nice

#

You could also eschew plastic

#

There are many options

#

It is quite the rabbit hole

daring zenith
#

gmk gmk gmk

cinder vigil
#

anyone know the best mechanical gaming keyboard...?

split nimbus
#

Also try flipping your spacebar upsidedown sometime

split nimbus
daring zenith
#

hehe

cinder vigil
#

ive had a redragon k552 for a while but i got it sticky

#

cause im an idiot

daring zenith
#

I was gonna give some meme answer but no best is also correct

cinder vigil
#

so im wondering what i should get

split nimbus
#

There are bad keyboards, but there is no best

cinder vigil
daring zenith
#

but seriously

split nimbus
#

What's your budget?

daring zenith
#

depends on budget

cinder vigil
#

well under 100 lets say

daring zenith
#

usd?

split nimbus
#

What sort of switch do you want?

cinder vigil
#

yea usd

#

whats the difference in the switches besides mechanical

#

the sound?

daring zenith
#

preference things

cinder vigil
#

i could care less about the sound

daring zenith
#

feel, sound, force

split nimbus
#

Linear, tactile, clicky

cinder vigil
#

lemme see

daring zenith
#

linear tactile and clicky are the three main catagories

cinder vigil
#

you guys seen this ?

split nimbus
#

Does it go down smooth, have a bump, or go click

daring zenith
#

seen what?

cinder vigil
#

have you guys seen the thockiest keyboard possible one on YT

#

that ones validdd

bleak ember
#

There are like 500 videos with the same title

daring zenith
#

so many

cinder vigil
#

by "squashy boy"

split nimbus
#

What'd they use, kailh box?

bleak ember
cinder vigil
#

yea that one, the part 1 sound

split nimbus
#

Anyway, do you want keys to go down smooth or with a bump

cinder vigil
#

im just more concerned about latency and me being able to click keyboard keys fast

#

i need the fastest speed possible with lowest latency and highest actuation point (you could sneeze on it and itd register)

split nimbus
#

So probably linear

daring zenith
#

apparently that's just tofu65 with u4t, fun

#

anyways, do you know what layout you want

rigid valve
#

So are low-profile boards

daring zenith
#

prob won't be the most fun tho

cinder vigil
#

60% layout is good

split nimbus
#

@cinder vigil pick one

cinder vigil
#

thanks for the visualization but i understand

#

i did haha

split nimbus
#

Ah cool

daring zenith
#

gonna go for now, keychron k6 with gat reds to start off

cinder vigil
split nimbus
#

60% linear, kailh speed if possible but not necessary

#

Under 100

rigid valve
#

Kailh Speed line of switches are very low actuation weight and low actuation travel

cinder vigil
#

so wait linear has the fastest possible response time?

rigid valve
#

No

split nimbus
#

No

rigid valve
#

But linear is easier to press for a lot of people

#

Since there’s no bump to overcome

cinder vigil
#

oh good i dont want it then cauise i checked out a demonstration of the sound and its annoying sounding

split nimbus
#

They're just usually preferred for gaming

rigid valve
#

lmao

daring zenith
#

what

rigid valve
#

A lot of people use linears to game

#

But plenty use tactiles as well

cinder vigil
#

can you still game with like a tactile for the best response or

little crater
#

get rubber dome keyboard

cinder vigil
#

i think i have a clicky

little crater
#

ez

cinder vigil
#

ew membrane

rigid valve
split nimbus
#

Typists tend to like a bump

rigid valve
#

If you’re only concerned about speed and response

#

Just get a rubberdome

#

Also silent so that’s a plus

cinder vigil
#

is a rubberdome membrane

daring zenith
#

there are some good sounding linears

little crater
#

get a PS/2 rubber dome

daring zenith
#

oh yes

little crater
#

best response time

#

quiet

split nimbus
#

There are silent linears

daring zenith
#

ps/2 for the best theorhetical response time

cinder vigil
#

do you guys know about whether the redragon k552 is clicky/tactile/linear?

daring zenith
#

it has all 3 varients

#

most common one with outemu blues

#

which is clicky

cinder vigil
#

oh how do I tell which one i have lmao

daring zenith
#

take the keycap off

#

what's the color

split nimbus
#

Take off a cap, what color are the switches

cinder vigil
#

light blue

#

i think

#

blue

daring zenith
#

outemu blues then

split nimbus
#

Clicky

#

Loud

cinder vigil
#

ohh clicky is valid then

split nimbus
#

I have those rn

daring zenith
#

Keychron op

cinder vigil
#

oh nice man

daring zenith
#

I leave now

cinder vigil
#

keychron

#

i will see

split nimbus
#

Ducky is also popular

rigid valve
#

Kinda overpriced a lot of their stuff is

split nimbus
#

Well

little crater
#

blue alps this is

split nimbus
#

Compared to a custom they're cheap

little crater
#

iirc

bleak ember
#

Alps <3

tardy mortar
#

I think these caps are beautiful but cant find them in stock

cinder vigil
#

thats fly

rigid valve
#

Blue alps for $50 tf

bleak ember
#

I would assume that a rubber dome model for that cheap

#

and Dell AT101W only had SKCM Salmon or SKCM blacks

little crater
#

at101w is an old alps board i thought

#

ohhh skcm

bleak ember
#

It is

cinder vigil
#

so fellas, a 60% (that includes like, prt sc del ins home etc), that is clicky and has a fast response time, fast actuation point (as in you can sneeze on it and itll register a type) good for gaming, what would yall recommend

bleak ember
#

GYUM90SK is black alps

cinder vigil
#

i saw kailh and keychron

little crater
#

ic

cinder vigil
#

are those the recommended

little crater
#

thought it was blue :P

bleak ember
#

I really want to get a Apple M0116 with orange alps

rigid valve
bleak ember
#

I got a Apple M0116 with salmon but some switches are broken and keys are missing

little crater
#

oof

cinder vigil
#

wait really? oh loooool

split nimbus
#

Kailh is the switch, they don't make keyboards as far as I know

rigid valve
#

There is like

cinder vigil
#

i have a tenkeyless then

rigid valve
#

No 60% I’ve ever seen with discrete nav keys

rigid valve
split nimbus
cinder vigil
#

under 100

little crater
#

nav keys are 65

cinder vigil
#

nah i got 5 dollars and a piece of bread

rigid valve
#

Get like a C1 and some kailh speeds, whichever speed switch suits your fancy

little crater
#

add F1-12 is tkl

cinder vigil
#

hmm what is a C1

split nimbus
#

You sure you want clicky?

cinder vigil
#

yeah I like clicky

rigid valve
cinder vigil
#

do they have that with a backlight

split nimbus
#

What

cinder vigil
#

the keychron

#

c1

#

like rgb backlight

rigid valve
#

They have it with perkey

split nimbus
#

Yup

#

Costs more ofc

split nimbus
rigid valve
#

C1 has hotswap option

cinder vigil
#

is this the one yall recommending

split nimbus
#

@cinder vigil can you solder?

cinder vigil
#

no i do not know how

#

i also kind of just want to buy a nice keyboard and be done with it, no DIY attatched you know?

#

im not techy like that

split nimbus
#

Looks like the one

cinder vigil
#

so ur saying this one will be good for gaming right?

split nimbus
#

The switches on that are hot swappable, so if you want to change out for the speed switches you can

floral lake
#

^

#

Tho for gaming to start, I don't recommend blue switch

#

They're loud

cinder vigil
#

im a gamer and use blue switches already

#

i like them

rigid valve
#

P r e f e r e n c e

cinder vigil
#

yes, it is indeed a preference

#

that is true

#

so the consensus is that the keychron c1 with speed switches would be the fastest yea?

split nimbus
#

No

#

Rubber dome ps2 would be the fastest

rigid valve
#

For real speed speed get a rubberdome

bleak ember
#

You are never going to get "the fastest"

rigid valve
#

However

bleak ember
#

and "the fastest" is not going to make you better at gaming

cinder vigil
#

thats like saying running shoes arent going to make you faster

#

duh they're more comfortable

rigid valve
#

No

#

It’s not

bleak ember
#

The Keychron C1 is what is recommended for under $100 though

rigid valve
#

That is so stupid

split nimbus
#

It's probably a fraction of a microsecond faster

cinder vigil
#

you're telling me that the keychron c1 is better than the redragon one?

rigid valve
#

I’ve gamed on membranes, mechs, wired, wireless

bleak ember
#

Yeah

rigid valve
#

The difference is beyond minuscule

rigid valve
#

Unless you get really crappy wireless

cinder vigil
rigid valve
#

But that’s a different discussion

cinder vigil
#

ive gamed on membrane mechs wired AND wireless man

rigid valve
#

No

split nimbus
rigid valve
#

Just no

split nimbus
#

You've games on crappy membrane

cinder vigil
#

true

bleak ember
#

There are great membrane keyboards

split nimbus
#

A good rubber dome is extremely fast

#

You can technically get even faster with optical

cinder vigil
#

bruh the keychron kinda ugly tho how is it better than the redragon for gaming

split nimbus
cinder vigil
#

what are the standards that make it higher quality?

#

(for gaming)

rigid valve
#

Nothing for gaming

split nimbus
#

Looks don't matter, you can put whatever caps you want on it

rigid valve
#

Nothing at all

split nimbus
#

For gaming, literally nothing

rigid valve
#

Like we’ve said, for pure gaming get a nice rubberdome

split nimbus
#

Well, maybe better switch stability

cinder vigil
#

i dont have a ps/2 switch port

rigid valve
#

And maybe a better cable

cinder vigil
#

also rubberdomes mad ugly

#

no pro gamer is going to use an old IBM

split nimbus
rigid valve
#

kekw

bleak ember
#

The Model M is buckling spring

rigid valve
#

If you want pro gamer then save up for a Logitech low-profile

bleak ember
#

and I would take it anyday over a new mech

rigid valve
#

Pure gamer

#

We’re making recommendations from a whole keyboard standpoint

cinder vigil
rigid valve
#

As people who use them for a variety of purposes

cinder vigil
#

im not using it for a variety

#

i specifically said i want it for gaming lol

split nimbus
rigid valve
cinder vigil
#

thanks

#

dunno why that was so roundabout

#

its not like im using it to order things or write books

rigid valve
#

Cuz you’re obsses with gaming is why

cinder vigil
#

yes

#

clearly

split nimbus
#

You asked for mechanical, so we told you about mechanical

cinder vigil
#

haha i asked for gaming

#

lol alright well thank you guys for the recommendations

#

im just going to buy what the pros use for the specific application im looking for

split nimbus
#

Spoiler alert though, it doesn't really matter

bleak ember
#

Like I said, a crazy expensive "pro" keyboard will not make you better at a game.

split nimbus
#

Your reaction time is probably 200-300ms

west hornet
#

Wow rude bob

cinder vigil
west hornet
#

You think im that bad

bleak ember
#

It is not lmao

cinder vigil
#

yea it is

#

lmfao

split nimbus
#

Or virtually silent

cinder vigil
#

bruh shrouds own keyboard is clicky

#

what are u talking ab

#

he uses blue clicky keys

split nimbus
#

I thought he used reds

bleak ember
#

He does

#

Just googled it

cinder vigil
#

oh he does? the website i was using tells me the keyboard comes in blue, brown or red

#

it lists blue first so i assumed

bleak ember
#

...

cinder vigil
#

what bro

split nimbus
#

You know what they say about assuming

cinder vigil
#

yeah I know..

split nimbus
#

Yeah...

#

Anyway, probably the most important thing about a keyboard is how it feels to you

#

There's basically nothing you can do to a keyboard to improve gaming performance once it's already decent

floral lake
#

^

split nimbus
#

All depends on how it feels to you, and if you are used to it

cinder vigil
#

so you think that instead of buying a logitech g pro x keyboard i should just rebuy my redragon keyboard if I want to play comp games?

floral lake
#

that's the reason hotswap keebs exists

#

you can switch the switches all you want

split nimbus
#

I'd go with the keychron personally

floral lake
#

^

cinder vigil
#

@split nimbus do you game?

#

you play splitgate or valorant? if so whats ur rank

split nimbus
#

It's better build quality and you can change the switches down the road if you want to

#

I game casually

cinder vigil
#

sorry but if ur a casual then idk if ur advice on a keyboard for gaming is reliable

bleak ember
#

Lmfao

cinder vigil
#

atleast applicationally to my circumstances

split nimbus
#

Excuse me?

cinder vigil
#

well you just said you game casually?

split nimbus
#

And?

bleak ember
#

So your just being rude out of spite now lmao

split nimbus
#

Do running coaches go compete?

floral lake
#

Keychron works with any circumstances

split nimbus
#

No

bleak ember
#

If you think you know what you are talking about then why are you asking for advice?

split nimbus
#

Coaches don't play

floral lake
#

They're even decent stock

#

Just up to your preference of switches

split nimbus
#

Keychron is a good quality keyboard for a reasonable price

floral lake
#

But they offer options, blue, red and brown

cinder vigil
#

alright, well if ur like a keyboard coach

floral lake
#

Sometimes even rgb

cinder vigil
#

i dont know why you're recommending me a variety keyboard for a gaming approach it doesnt make sense to me

#

you understand why I'm confused or not too eager to get it

bleak ember
#

Because keyboards don't make you better at gaming

floral lake
#

This just keeps going

split nimbus
#

There is no gaming keyboard

floral lake
#

^

bleak ember
#

We have said it many times

floral lake
#

Keyboard is keyboard

cinder vigil
#

bruh you dont put a pro gamer on a membrane keyboard it just doesnt happen

floral lake
#

The "gaming" ones just has extras sprinkled on top

cinder vigil
#

keyboard isnt keyboard

bleak ember
#

It does

floral lake
#

Good mech keebs doesn't have to have gamer branding

split nimbus
#

Lots of pros use membranes

cinder vigil
#

they do?

#

which ones?

#

what games too?

bleak ember
#

lmfao

split nimbus
#

Most of the ones I know are rainbow

bleak ember
#

Are you just trolling at this point?

floral lake
#

Good keyboards doesn't always have to be gamery

#

They could even look unassuming

cinder vigil
#

im not trolling i just want a nice mech keyboard for comp gaming man

bleak ember
#

Then get a Keychron C1

split nimbus
#

Here's what's important in a keyboard if you're a gamer:
How it feels
How it's built

bleak ember
#

We have said it multiple times

cinder vigil
#

ok ok i understand keychron 1

split nimbus
#

Keychron is built well and you can change how it feels

#

As a bonus, it's cheap

floral lake
#

Even cheaper is royal kludge

bleak ember
#

It's not about how good it is at gaming, because that's not how it works, what matters is how it feels to type on and the build quality.

#

It's what feels best for you.

cinder vigil
#

@split nimbus im not tryna insult what you know about keyboards, i simply wasnt sure about what ur reocmmending me, partially because I dont have too much knowledge about keyboards anyway

bleak ember
#

Then don't act like you know everything, we said Keychron C1 multiple times

split nimbus
#

Get it with the stock blues since that's your current preference

cinder vigil
#

i mean, I had some ppl at another discord recommend me the logitech g pro wireless X over the turtlebeach X12s, and to be honest the X12s were better in every way except build quality

floral lake
#

Seems my point didn't matter

#

Or anyone's

cinder vigil
#

whys that

floral lake
#

You just sound like you know everything

#

Asking for advice then flipping over it

bleak ember
#

"gaming headsets" are a whole another thing that are just scams

cinder vigil
#

:/ no im just conflicted and im presenting the arguments about why I am

#

i dont know thats why i asked

split nimbus
#

How much do those boards you mentioned cost?

cinder vigil
#

uh let me check

#

like 130$

split nimbus
#

Keychron was what, 75?

cinder vigil
#

you think they have the keychron in b&w?

#

i mean black not black and white

bleak ember
#

Just buy different keycaps

split nimbus
#

You can replace the keycaps

#

They're modular, same as with the switches

cinder vigil
#

so, noone thinks the keychron looks cheap?

split nimbus
#

No

bleak ember
#

No

split nimbus
#

It's a good quality board

cinder vigil
#

awesome thank u for the link

split nimbus
#

And more even beyond that

bleak ember
#

Or any other keycap that fits a Cherry stem

cinder vigil
#

so lets say budget was higher like 150

#

you think the logitech k/da would be good?

#

with the same switches

#

or is that a waste of money

split nimbus
#

Logitech you lose hot swap

cinder vigil
#

im ok with not being able to switch from browns to blue and the like

split nimbus
#

Also Logitech does tend to be overpriced compared to other brands

cinder vigil
#

yeah i can say their headphones definitely are

split nimbus
bleak ember
#

The K/DA is a G Pro just special edition and the G pro has swappable but I would only assume with other Logitech switches

#

Since Logitech uses their own GX switches

split nimbus
#

Is dumb

floral lake
#

that's why i don't stick with big gamer brands

#

proprietary stuff

split nimbus
#

There's a very obvious standard, so why not just use that standard

floral lake
#

yeah

#

yep

#

they probably think so

bleak ember
#

Apparently you can use any MX compatible switch on the G Pro but i still would not recommend that board

split nimbus
#

TKL is 75 keys?

bleak ember
#

80%

split nimbus
#

I can never remember

bleak ember
#

87 keys

split nimbus
#

Thanks

#

90 PCs speed bronze

#

If you have a higher budget, I'd recommend getting the hot swappable board and those switches to give them a shot

#

If you don't like the switches you can return them for free with Amazon

#

As long as it's the standard form factor you can still technically swap the switches on non-hot swappable boards

#

It's just a pain

#

I think kailh makes some in that form factor

#

I know that they have a low profile line, forget if it's the same dimensions

hollow flower
#

I present to you all my jank switch I created, the trutemu.

#

But I didn’t test them lubed yet

floral lake

#

much less wobbly and rattly

#

it still rattles but eh can't ask much from membrane laptop keeb
