@golden bone for xlr yes you need a interface, with that budget something like a focusrite scarlett solo or rn the motu m2 is a very popular choice and my personal. for mic that can vary. I suppose a 100usd mic and than the rest of budget for a stand. some popular mics would be at2020, neat king bee is a great option, blue ember, mxl 770, sm58, sm57, se electronics v7, im probably missing a few

I have a 500 gig SSD and 7TB of hard drive storage in raid that I only use 1TB of. and yes you would REALLY care
