@wanton wagon thats max speed, 1300mbps is max speed achieved using (iirc) dual band using 802.11ac
Quick question guys, I want my Logitech G710 keyboard to wake my PC from sleep, I've got it turned on in the BIOS and in the power management section of the device manager and it still doesn't work to wake it although the numlock light lights up when I press a key but it doesn't wake the PC and none of the other keys light up. any ideas on this?
did you put the pc to sleep yourself then try to wake it up?
cuz there are many cpu states, and only one of which is sleep, so sometimes the machine will hibernate or go into other states in which wake via usb doesnt apply
it should be onm by default
I'm sure it's just sleeping.
What is a good silent mechanical keyboard?
do you know what kind of switches you're looking for?
the silent kind probably
well you've got cherry mx reds, which are quiet-er, and cherry mx speeds and clears (i think)
MX Silent, MX Silent Red, Browns...
yeah or if u want the best silent linears MX Zilents
Can some one recommend a computer desk
What do you mean by computer desk ?
@woeful garnet I made myself a top for a standing desk frame by Autonomous and have enjoyed it very much.
It does make cabling a more nuanced project, and I have spent many hours recabling, but it's all been worth it.
Anyone know any budget dual monitor stands? just for 24 or 27 inch monitors
now thats a good sale
Is the Apex Pro keyboard worth it? Does anyone have it?
Any keyboard that fits your style is worth it
@formal karma in my opinion, no
You can get much higher quality for cheaper
While you may be able to adjust the actuation point, you cant adjust the feel
What switches have you used before?
I think the red cherry mix is what they are called
On my brothers k70 @wanton wagon
Apex Pro is $$$
@formal karma hows the feel in ur opinion
@wanton wagon they were good, but the apex pro looks sexy and isn’t it way faster?
Yeah
Well, the apex pro uses iirc software where you decide it
So yes, but lower build quality
Both are not very good
Wym both?
The corsair and apex pro
Get something from a typist brand, preferably not labeled "gaming"
Reasons why gamer keyboards (Corsair, Logitech, Razer) are not a good purchase:
- Plate is airbrushed alu over low quality plastic (keystrokes feel cheap and sound pingy)
- Case is plastic or very thin alu (feels bad, scratches easily)
- Poor stabilizers on longer keys like spacebar, backspace, enter, etc. (lots of rattle, makes those keys wobbly)
- Laser ablated low quality ABS keycaps (ruin, wear, and smudge fast)
- Proprietary layout (makes finding custom keycaps to replace low quality ones difficult)
If availability is low, HyperX and Cooler Master keyboards suffer less from these issues. Steelseries keyboards at least use a standard layout so you can replace keycaps, but still suffer from the other problems, making them just a level above Corsair, Logitech, and Razer.
@formal karma sorry gotta sleep, will talk more tomorrow
Ok good night
ummm, devices kee pgetting disconnected after a fuse when off and pc restarted
what could it be?
My mm711 came in today and the software for cooler master can’t detect it and I’ve already tried multiple USB ports, restarting my pc, and uninstalling and reinstalling the software but no luck
Anyone know any good websites for quality mechanical keyboards, idc about rgb
People here seem to like the GMMK keyboard
Keyboards, Corsair, red dragon, Logitech, razer
alright tyty
I think Corsair has relatively best gaming keyboard
if u dont care about rgb, leopold and varmilo all the way
@tight pulsar thxs for the recommendation ima check it out
@daring zenith They have the biggest name out there, not quality is basically meh
@left hawk out of major gaming keyboards ofc
I think razer actually has good ones too?
but I dont quite rememb
Razer seems to have high failure rate basically everywhere tho. So idk
@tight pulsar im getting a keyboard from varmilo, its so clean and fits my setup so well, thx for the suggestion
@simple kayak mechanicalkeyboards.com
Is the RK61 60% worth purchasing, I'm looking to save some money
i'd probably suggest the gk61 cause its hotswap and around the same price
I dont know if I should get the 703 wireless or the 403 wired
Fepends on budget if you want wireless
Hey are there anyone knows about silent keyboards?
Im just looking for daily use
If it has a back-light or any kind of lighting it would be great.
how good is the hyperx quadcast mic?
@plain sundial mechanical? Its not so much the keyboard, but the switch
Rgb backlight? Or single color
It doesnt matter i just wanna dont hear the sounds, but if has a lightning i wouldn't say no
@wanton wagon
Oh, any membrane will do
They are all quiet
which headset is good for gaming and productivity work
I think you should precise if you’re producing music (as you said in #building-and-recc-chat ) . I produce music too, I use beats studio 3, they work well for me but it isn’t a professional use and I’m sure you can get a better pair of headphones for cheaper than these pricy ones (even though ngl I do like them a lot)
@flint maple
okay thx
They might be not suitable for gaming though, I’m going to test them out once I build my rig in a day or two. @flint maple
That should be way better if you’re recording
Or if you want a good pair of studio headphones
Brands like beats, jbl, bose are not great for studio headphones
As studio headphones go I’d go for audio technica or beyerdynamics
well I went to a friend of mine his fathers business and he used bose headphones and they were great
Sennheiser is also a good studio brand
AKG is not too bad too, depending on the model
Yes some bose headphones sound good and I do personally like sennheiser, but they are not always the most accurate
They are more for pleasure listening
AKG is often used by Djs
Some of them can be a little bassy but they’re not bad
Do some research on google and YouTube, you could come back with a small list of a few headsets / headphones, people could give you suggestions easily 🙂
@flint maple
Knowing the brands gives you lots of choices
This isn’t headset but these are really popular https://www.amazon.com/beyerdynamic-770-PRO-Studio-Headphone/dp/B0016MNAAI
Yep if you’re buying an external mic you might prefer getting headphones
I need some help
For some reason my headset is picking up game audio, and the audio from videos
Where in the mobo io do I plug the headset?
Because im using front panel
Which is maybe the problem
Its detecting the headset as speakers, anyone know how to fix
Here is what it shows for output
It usually says speakers
Really?
On the mobo the output is the lime green port
I dont have that, I got 5 blacks and 1 red
Pic?
You can check manual but it is usually far right middle port
I always forget the manual
Whats the headset one labeled
The port should be called something like headphones or line out
Theres: Line in, Line out/front speaker out, rear speaker out, center/subwoofer out, side speaker out, mic in
Do line out
Its still happening 😦
would using a adapter for 3.5 to mic in headset out do that?
corsair sent an xbox headset with a pc adapter
You can try all the devices and see which one works
If you think the adapter is the problem try just putting the 3.5mm without the adapter in line out
k
nope something wrong with the mic
it keeps screeching now
Ill just use push to talk
screeching is usually a result of feedback. Are you playing your sound through speakers and using the headset mic for voice
what headset is it
its 2 different ones I believe
xbox headset
I cant seem to find the corsair headset one sec
does it sound like a feedback loop
you may just need to disable listen to this device in the sound settings
with the corsairs they have a thing called sidetone that does the samething
Where in sound settings is that
Ok im there
then click on recording and select the device and click properties
remove the the check in the box for listen to this device
ya, pick the microphone. if its not usb it will only see it as a mic
Ok
my corsairs are wireless
It is unchecked already
with the corsairs they have a function called sidetone. you can turn it off in icue if you have that installed or you can hold down the mic button on the side for a few seconds and it will turn it off.
I assume the wired version has that as well
Downloading icue
Its weird because in discord using the test my mic setting, if somethings playing in background it doesnt detect
But my friends can hear it
sidetone all the way on the right, thats what lets you hear yourself on the corsair void wireless.
K
One sec
Alright, so icue detects my corsair keyboard and mouse
But not the headset
And the sides of my headset dont light up
is it connected with usb or 3.5mm
you have to connect it with usb for icue to see it
Does this headset even have usb
Lol no
But the manual says it can have rgb and its user programmable
I might contact corsair support
My HyperX Cloud Core was pretty bad too
Sometimes game audio would come through the mic, with closed earpads
Now I just use a dynamic mic and headphones
tbh for xbox its fine
is the g230 microphone good
Any good mics for <40$?
@daring zenith yes
So I just got some unpowered speakers.
I've been using my Klipsch KSW 10 subwoofer for a while now.
It was hooked up with a 3.5mm audio cable going into the L input of it.
So I brought the unpowered speakers (2 of them) home and plugged the speaker cable in for both of them in their respective slots under the sub's "SPEAKER IN" section.
However there's no sound coming from the speakers..?
So I'm guessing the IN in SPEAKER IN truly does mean speaker inputs. :/
I probably need to buy a separate amp.
Any recommendations for hooking up this whole mess?
(please @ me)
TLDR, I want to connect a Klipsch KSW 10 and two unpowered speakers (just speaker wire) to my PC, somehow. What do I need to do this?
The sub has two 3.5mm inputs for L and R, as well as four speaker wire inputs (L and R, + and -). Each of the two speakers has a + and - input for speaker wire.
remember that picture i linked you @graceful jetty
@crude otter I remember JPcheese asked you, what keyboard you got?
I dont remember seeing you answer... but im uncertain
@hushed root
Mmhhmm? @wanton wagon
Look above
Nice
But I'm pretty sure the Klipsch isn't an amplifier.
As the speaker cable jacks say "SPEAKER IN", and when connecting only to the L input (haven't bought the splitter yet), the speakers output nothing (while the sub does).
Because connecting the speakers to the sub' s SPEAKER IN ports doesn't feed the speakers anything.
@daring zenith which switches you getting?
Wht about the feel tho
Meh
I decided I wanted to go with an industry standard
It really shouldnt be.... there are better switches from other retailers
The actuation times and all are pretty similar across the board
I want to get used to one actuation time
Why are you thinking of o rings
Idk I saw something about it making blues quiet
Well sure, but then you don't get the mechanical feel
Prob not doing o rings tho
It feels mushy with o rings
Kk
?
alright boys i need a pcb/layout choice
option 1. alice
option 2. 65% (would have a winkey blocker on left side modifiers)

Recommendations for gaming keyboard anyone?
Budget?
Yes
@acoustic cove now are YOU there?
I’m here
Hey guys. Just curious, I'm about to purchase my first gaming pc ever and It just occurred to me. Short of running ethernet all the way through my house..how do I get wired internet in my bedroom? There is a CoAx post in here if that helps
you would have to run the wires though out the house
really no way around it.
depending on your internet speed, WiFi is a good choice.
I get a little over 500mbps on my wifi
super wifi
I get 100mbps when no one else is using the wifi (which is never)
Looking for a new keyboard under 50
@crude otter
It's 60 right now but I feel like it goes on sale regularly and the have a ten keyless one as well I believe.
This one's similar. For under 50 you basically have to go with redragon or some off brand one
I personally have this lil beast and it gets the job done
I did switch out the keycaps for hyper x double shot pbt tho. They make the colors way brighter.
Not a fan of how they look
All of them?
That's a membrane keybaord
But I don’t like how the keys stuck out
If your fine with that then that's obviously a good option
Lemme send you a pic of what my keyboard looks like in person real quick
My old keyboard got broke bc my little brother decided it was a good idea to run through my room and knocked over my pc and broke my keyboard
That's tuf
As you can see those are different keycaps but they don't stick out that much
So you want a full size then.
With a number pad
Correct?
How's this one
@crude otter
Ok membrane it is lol
I have a Redragon keyboard, I like it.
I used to buy all Razer stuff, but I am really liking the Redragon brand now.
My friend is a complete razer fanboy lol
Everything I've ever bought from razer i didn't like tho. It all feels cheap i dunno
yeah, you don't have to spend an arm and a leg for good stuff, just have to look in the right places I guess. lol
I bought a Nari Ultimate headset this past Nov. I am having to do a claim on it because it won't stay connected to my damn comp. It is agitating.
Oof
Looking for a wireless keyboard
I have a Redragon K556 brown outemu switches and they're working great
the rgb controls are all hardware based, but you can also use a software to change em
plus, there are 3 profiles to choose from, so switching layouts and macros on a whim is a very easy thing to do
I did replace my alphabet with red switches tho, as I like the linear, non-tactile feel better.
I’m looking for a wireless keyboard
I know this isn't exactly a peripheral question but it IS related... I'm trying to run 2x Elgato Cam Link 4K USB 3.0 video capture devices. Elgato says each device needs it's own, independent USB 3.0 Root Hub, but my PC only has one. Am I able to add an additional Root Hub by installing a PCI USB 3.0 card, or is this dependent on the motherboard itself?
installing a pci usb 3.0 card should be good, pci has enough bandwidth for usb
Ok thanks
Anyone have any idea why my tv goes black for a few seconds every now and then? I have a 78 inch samsung tv. When I watch tv from and antenna it does not seem to do that. But it only does that when I'm watching from my roku ultra. It really dont matter what I'm watching either youtube or netflix it seems to go black only from roku.
I'd guess something is going on with the Roku
I use firestick so I am of no help./
is it updated? can you wipe it clean/fresh install on it?
Do huntsman te switches feel the same as huntsman elite switches? I'm standing in best buy and I just fell in love but the elite is so expensive
I tried doing resets and upgrading it and still same issue
Make sure the video connection is not loose
Hello guys
I need a mouse and my hands are 16.5 and 8.5 my grip style is claw palm
Who can help me
Budget? @silk bone
Claw palm..... lemme think
How often do you use palm? Which do you use more? @silk bone
I dont really like the shape of it
The viper mini should be good for me right?
@wanton wagon
I have the bigger viper and have no complaints
Plastic does feel a little cheap compared to other mice but it works great in my opinion
Its normal sized
This isn't quite a peripherals question but can someone recommend me an rgb strip thats preferably magnetic
so ive got 200$ to spend on a headset, preferably razer but the microphone doesnt matter, i have a blue snowball so the built in mic can be ass so it doesnt mater to me
buy a studio headset @last shadow, much better than gaming if you already have a mic
If it's mainly for gaming, look at the ATH-AD700x, they're known for their great positional audio.
They're open though, so sound bleeds and you can hear everything around you. Not sure if your mic would pick up on this since it's a cardioid microphone.
What’s a good under $75 mechanical keyboard?
Corsair k63 compact is on sale rn. Not rgb but it does have red backlighting and cherry mx reds
I bought that one 2 years ago
still working great
a little annoying that some of the keycaps at the del, pgn down and home fall out at times
You can always buy some double shot pbt ones too. I did that for mine and it made it way better imo
Then there's this one https://www.amazon.com/dp/B077YDJWZR?pldnSite=1
5 bucks more than what you wanted but super discounted rn so it might be worth it. Fully rgb, wrist rest, mx red, and a fun volume nob😁
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B079HQM71L/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_i_Ba-AEbEVYZY14
Can someone tell me if this is a good mechanical keyboard and does it feel good typing on it?
its outemu reds, so decent switches but its only $45 so it wont be super amazing
but what about the pandas
Headset shopping at Best Buy rn. Any recommendations? My stealth 600s are taking the poop now and idk what to pull the trigger on. Would prefer wireless. Thanks everyone 🙏
I'd go for the Steelseries Arctis, if they have them
I hear great things about the headset, battery life being one of them
But I wouldn't count on audio quality being great with bluetooth compression
@dusky cedar
thanks, went ahead and got me a yeti mic, headset speakers still work just fine. will have to get a nice pair of studio headphones down the road. thanks anyways @cyan basalt
No problem, I tried a few different mics and ended up getting an XLR setup, I have a lot of noise in my room, so it's nice to not worry about that anymore
I'd love to get a wireless headset though, but I feel like I'd have buyer's remorse. I have a pair of Jabra elite 65t and hardly use them
i hear you there. i have some ok bluetooth buds but for now im still using my TBs cause they're not broken. they work pretty well and i do really like the "super human hearing" feature when playing fps games, it really does help.
xlr ftw
@ashen zephyr I have that exact keyboard and I didn't like typing on it until I put some hyperx double shot keykaps on it. Now it's pretty nice imo but don't expect to be blown away. Its in my pfp
Its a good budget pick but if it was me having to make the same decision again I would probably save a lil more and get like a hyper x alloy elite. It was just on sale yesterday for 80 which is a great deal.
is it possible to print your own keycaps?
like using a 3d printer then engraving the letter using a laser engraving or smth?
yeah but itd give much rougher and worse results and probably a lot harder than just buying a cheap set of keycaps
Reason: Bad word usage
i want customized shizzle tho
get 3/4 inch wood blocks, cut them down to size with a CNC router, sand them down, laser engrave them, stain them
I cant get into the bios because I have a poopy 60 percent keyboard and the function keys dont work
my ram is running 2133mhz and I cant change it
How do guys feel about the Oculus Rift S v.s. The Quest?
Well my pc is in my bedroom where 75% of the room is my queen size bed which sucks
Do you think this space is large enough?
Please excuse the dust gathered in the baseboards, I need to clean them
It is enough room, but it wont be as good as if you had 6.5x6.5 area
Thats whats recommended
That's a big space lol well for my house it is
I would have to migrate my entire set up into my living room unfair
I could
that space is uhhh
can you stand in it and stretch your arms out?
because in vr, you move without even knowing it
i often end up on the other side of my room lol
To continue this, what is the better - oculus quest or windows "mixed" reality?
Mixed reality is garbage
Some of the headsets themself aren’t that bad but the tracking is 🤮
Anybody like the g502
ive heard a lot of good things about it from people who own it
G502 is very popular, but it ultimately comes down to what you like. Some people don’t like how bulky it is or don’t like the thumb rest thing, etc.
And some like it
Anyone have a good recommendation for a headset around 30-40 ish dollars?
Ya I don't personally like them either. I use my bose soundlink heasets with a USB mic
Its ok, nothing special
Keep in mind that it is pretty small tho incase you have large hands
Do you think it's a bad idea to split a youtube video across 2 monitors with different resolutions while one is running on gpu and the other on integrated?
sounds insane
idk how that works but just from the sound of it, it seems like a terrible idea
I'm looking for a good flatbed scanner or multifunction printer. seeking suggestion. must be book friendly (lid) ideally will save to pdfs and if multifuncton will not print a page for every page printed. 100-250 budget
erscanned
Thoughts on the HyperX Alloy FPS Pro gaming keyboard?
@hoary hedge isn't that the same one shroud uses?
thats the one i have and its okay. its nice but doesnt have software to control the rgb, so you're limited to whats programed on the keyboard, and it doesnt have cherry keys or anything, but for its price its good
it is red which matches the rest of my build so im not too torn up about rgb
and it has Cherry MX red key doesn't it?
red and blue actually
so the product page straight up lies about the keys?
send me the product page you're looking at
i didnt see the pro part
i dont have the pro
woops
sorry
I read it as the alloy core RGB
that one is supposed to be much better than what i have
i brain farted, my bad.
It’s ya boy
Sausage Roll
Looking for recommendations on headsets because my current Turtle Beach one broke
I was thinking about getting the Arctis 3 from steelseries, the non-wireless one, but just wanted to know if that was a bad idea
Most reviews on it come out as pretty positive so
do y’all know if a sound card affects input audio
@uncut pasture looks pretty good but a little out of my price range at 172 excluding the conversion tax to USD
anyone know any good 2k monitors at 144hz that isnt super expensive?
when you say 2k, what do you actually mean?
1920*1080 or 2560 * 1440?
Theres this if you want 1440p 144hz
https://www.newegg.com/p/3D4-000U-00008
What mixer should I get for music production
@sharp fjord I had to ping you for this
From naed
I’ll have to get back to you when I get home but behringer is the brand I use. Can’t tell you what model just yet
There’s multiple mixers by them
The one I use has a built in usb interface
This is the one I have which is good and cheap and the built in interface is nice
Behringer Xenyx Q802USB Premium 8-Input 2-Bus Mixer with USB/Audio Interface,Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B008O517IC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_LuMEEbGG01WC8
But it depends on what you need. This one is kind of basic
behringer has good budget audio equipment
They really do - emphasis on budget though.
The UMC202HD/404HD as well as that Xynyx mixer are great options.
The mixer has some quirks, but there are youtube tutorials to help.
Are arctis pro wireless headphones good for gaming
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07QH3DMV6/ref=ask_ql_qh_dp_hza?th=1
HyperX Cloud Stinger Wireless Gaming Headset
does anyone have these and can tell me if theyre good or not, im seeing some mixed reviews and just wanna make sure theyre worth my money or if i should find something better?
From what I've heard they're pretty good if you get a good pair but if not its Amazon so feel free to return them.
my main concern is the mic
aight i've got this curiosity about the razer ornata
so what with their mecha-membrane BS that they pulled, do you think the keycaps used modified stems, or standard membrane stems?
the actuation is just a normal membrane, there are mechanics in the key that make it seem a bit more like a mechanical switch
i am no pro tho
same as normal membrane stems
the only thing that makes it like a mechanical switch is the metal click jacket (or click bar idk which) that makes the clicky feel/sound, everything else is normal membrane
yes the leaf-spring
so technically if i was interested in that board, i could get full-height membrane caps and put em in?
and according to one in-depth reviewer, the leafspring is actually not responsible for any tactility, they just chose good rubber domes
should be able to yeah
pog
pog
pog
I finally got a ducky one 2 mini and I love it
Cherry MX Blacks
They’re literally like the opposite of my old switches which were cherry Mx speed silvers lol
personally i prefer full-size 104-key boards but i must say that looks very nice
Yea it’s not for everyone
I never used anything except the main keys on a 60% and the only things I use are the arrows and I am used to the IJKL alr
Having a numpad is useful because you can use them as macros
60% feels too small for me but I have like no desk space at all for a full size
Also the keyboard is beautiful 😍. Have fun with it
I have a full width when I should probably have one without the numpad
It sits on most of my mousepad lmao
hello, what could possibly be the best gaming headset overall for under 40 USD ? ping me 😉
it's a temporary headset so i dont need anything crazy
I’ll look, 1 sec
Ducky* keyboard
Yep pretty much ^
Yo is ducky good?
I mean... ya
@spare thicket hey is hyperion fury still worth the buy? i saw you have it
What's a pair of good headphones under 100$?
most of the wired ones not a wireless one that I can think of
Erhm...? :<
you can get logitech g430 for like 40 bucks I believe and its a pretty good cheap headset
I'm using the G230's.... I'd rather not... Mine are hanging by the gosh darn wire. And i refuse for Corsair Voids.
Reason why i decline the G230 and the line of the products that look exactly like it is because honestly to me they're just much more flimsy then they look.. :<
I mean I've been using the g430 for the last 8 years and its still working, however there is a short in my wire now but just gotta move it aroudn and it works lol. But thats still 8 years later. I also use a logitech G933 now but I don't use it for the wireless (lost the dongle) and it has a jack so you can just buy new wires for it, but it's more expensive
or maybe i have the g633 🤔
Iunno one of the artemis series
but the downsides are its kinda bulky, heavy, and tight on my head. you can get used to it fast but its not as easy to get used to as most others. maybe new versions fixed that though
Hello! I’m looking for a chair for my setup but I’m looking for recommendations since I see way too many options. My budget is around $350-$400 but I’d prefer if it’s lower as long as it’s as good as a $400 option
I’m considering the Secretlab Omega but I’m not sure if I want a “gaming” chair, although it looks pretty good
im not super knowledgeable on chairs but the gaming chairs are pretty comfortable
@viral canopy i got a chair that I use by Serta that's pretty similar to this one although the exact one i got was only around $200 and its pretty comfotrable and holds up pretty well. i figured i would through in an option that wasn't a "gaming" chair since most people probably look for those but Serta makes some pretty comfortable stuff, i think they even have some with memory foam in it
@viral canopy with that budget, when the world re-opens, go and visit your local office supply place
and have a look at actual chairs
The ones at my local office supply store are very low quality, even the most expensive ones ($300)
then do yourself (and your body) a favour and travel to a shop
because nothing beats actually trying out a chair first
The gaming chairs cost around $200 but are the no brand type that you can get on Amazon for half the price.
Yeah, I’ll see where’s the closest one
imo, i am yet to try any "gaming" chair that is actually good
Well, one of the reasons I’m considering the Omega is because it apparently has high quality synthetic leather, and with a 5 year warranty I wouldn’t expect it to peel like the chairs I’ve tried
do they have a "try for x days and then return if you dont like it" policy?
Good question, I’ll go check that
They do, 49 days, no restocking fee, but I’d pay shipping
what is the shipping fee?
because i have seen some fairly silly fees added on there
I’d have to buy a label myself, I’d imagine at least $30 for a package that size
"we only accept returns if it is done through OUR transport company, that btw charges you about twice the value of the product"
it is something i would strongly advise you to get in contact with them about :)
just so you dont end up with a big fee for no reason
Yeah, I’ll check that out, from what I’m reading in the return policy they don’t care how I ship it as long as I give them a tracking number, send it in the original packaging, and it doesn’t get damaged in shipping
piece of advice (that counts for anything you ever return to any company): Take a photos, preferably a video of you packing and taping the box up for shipping.
simply so you can prove that you have done due dilligence
Yeah, I’ve learnt that the hard way from selling online
How good is hyperX when it comes to headphones?
compared to actual non-gaming headphones?
the cloud 2 or cloud alpha's?
Darn...
@hard fable I’ve tried many gaming headsets, HyperX Cloud II, Cloud Alpha, Cloud Stinger, Razer Nari Ultimate, Arctis 3, Corsair HS60. The best have been the HyperX Cloud II and Alpha
The Alpha is a bit better than the Cloud II
So go for the ALPHA's if i'm going for HyperX
Le gasp... the mic unplugs- that's.. actually great!
Neat!
Yeah, AFAIK all HyperX headsets have that feature except the Stinger
The Alpha is a bit more comfortable than the Cloud II, and has slightly better sound quality
But the Cloud II comes with a USB Surround Sound card, and both velour and leather earpads
I mean i have an Alesis iO2 express hooked up to my computer. and my current headphones are plugged into that and the headphones i have do sound great but it's time to put them into the backups closet.
I'm looking at the headphones on bestbuy and... gold is cheaper then black and red, wot
Yeah, those are the ones I got
they look comfortable for having leather ear cups. over the ear... They look quite low profile.
I swear some headphones/headsets make you look like the cyberman from Doctor Who.
Yeah, like the Razer Nari Ultimate
exactly!
or the razer krakens
Yep... definitely gonna choose these..
Later in the future. Beyerdynamic. Maybe sennheiser.
I switched over to a Philips Fidelio X2HR and an AT2020 and it’s a noticeable upgrade
Especially switching over to open back
And someone sold me a Dragonfly Red amp/DAC for $60 so I have a decent setup now
I’m planning on upgrading either to the HD6xx or DT990
Membrane is boring! :<
I've tried pretty much every major switch - I just honestly like this keyboard for general use.
Quiet enough for gaming/streaming with a hot mic.
Might go with zealio v2's, panda's, or topre for a new build.
Will a 60hz monitor bottleneck a system that pushes 100-130fps?
Kinda
wdym bottleneck
mic position also can help if you get a lot of clicking.
also a 60hz monitor with 100-130 fps is a bottleneck. a 120hz or 144hz panel would be nice with those frames
it's not quite as bad as a cpu bottleneck unless you got like a 2080 with a 60hz panel lol
it doesn't bottleneck your performance
"also a 60hz monitor with 100-130 fps is a bottleneck." @west hornet what kind of silly is that?
but it affects how you can benefit from your performance
why bother building a system that can push more than 60 fps if you arent using them
technically if you have over 60fps and you can only see 60fps of it, it's a fraction of the real frames you are getting
It's not the same as a cpu or gpu bottleneck but it is still a bottleneck
visually
most people will not care if gaming is not a priority
there will always be something to bottleneck your system and part of it can be related to the peripherals
technically you can say my keyboard is somehow a bottleneck
maybe its not ergonomic or smth
I don't like calling it a bottleneck
it would be latency related
I have a 30$ keyboard paired with some really expensive stuff
in peripherals it will not be a direct performance bottleneck but more related to how the game feels/looks
price does not always matter, depends on the board and mechanical vs membrane vs optical
nice
I have a 60hz monitor but I can push 120fps on certain scenarios and you can actually tell. It still looks way better than 60fps tho it still doesn't look as good as my friends 144hz obviously
My friend has a gtx 1080 but a 720p 60hz "monitor" with very high latency
it makes me sad
I would be sad too 😞
he also has a hdd which makes the os and games lag
@merry sundial i use the Logitech K120 too, i love it
and while I would like a mech keyboard i couldn't make myself pay a couple hundred dollars for a custom when this 8$ keyboard works just fine
Oh boy, I'm going to actually have to buy a keyboard. I don't think the old one off my XP machine would work these days
Has anyone had luck with the newer madcatz cyborg rat mice?
What keyboard is that Mike?
neon k85
Ah that's so pretty
I don't know if this is the right chat to ask this in but is getting the Logitech Z606 a good choice?
I could use some help finding it 5.1 surround sound speakers under $200 if any of you don't mind?
ok
Ooh, that is a pretty keyboard
what's the difference between gateron browns and cherry mx browns
gaterons are heavier, smoother, and have a more noticeable tactile bump
tbh cherry is considered the gold standard, but they aren't that great
what a good and cheap keyboard with blues
Something from red dragon
I'm having serious audio problems. My G933 (7.1 surround sound) headset can't do surround sound. Both channels will always output same level audio so there is no telling if an enemy is to my right or left
and my audio is a lot quieter than usual so now I have to turn my headphones up to 100 just to keep it at the sound level I'm used to
@calm cobalt reddragon k552, cheap af and works
@jagged pewter in your sound panel http://puu.sh/FtEzq/7c12c35905.png <- set it to that
already set like that
Sounds like an issue with "windows sonic" settings.
yeah. It won't turn on
when it click on it in the drop down menu it instantly switches back to off
What are your guys reccomendations for mechanical keyboards that have Cherry MX Reds or similar, or Logitech keyboards? I've hear Rover G switches are good so running with that.
hello can someone give a lead on how to set up a wire display and keyboard for my server
wireless -- I meant
hello can someone give a lead on how to set up a wireless display and keyboard for my server
Hello all, I have someone looking to buy a headset. His budget is 150, but can push up a bit if there is a good one. He wears glasses so comfort is a huge deal. He also has small children so build quality is a big concern as well as they can get ahold of them. Audio and mic quality isnt as big of a deal, as long as they are decent.
@warm scroll at that budget, does it have to be a combined headset?
Well a mic is a requirement, and a separate mic like a blue yeti or something is definately a no, but if you have a good mic like a modmic or something that could be considered
reason i ask is, at that budget, actually good headphones are easily within budget
and the gaming headset at that budget cannot hold a candle in sound quality to that
it all comes back around to what he values
and how he values it
Well that's what we thought but everything we've looked at has had flaws, or may be just okay but not worth the price, so we are still looking
you have been looking at gaming headsets right?
Yeah
US based?
Yes
i know that these dont have a mic
but as far as sound quality and build quality goes
yeah :)
Well do you know of any good mics that can be attached for like $30?
short answer is: not without having a google for it
Hmm
also
another thing to keep in mind
IF he is going for headphones in that budget range, i would strongly recommend going and having a visit at a music shop (when the world wasnt in a quarantine that is)
simply to have a listen with the headphones in question
because at that budget, you are dealing with headphones that have a distinct "profile"
and that is before we even come to stuff like the actual "fit" of the model in question
Well the problem is that it is, and he is looking to buy in the near future
aye, i am mentioning the above so you have some context for what i am saying :)
my own daily drivers are the 990 dt pro
because i prefer the semi-open cans
the amount of pressure i feel on my ears with something like the 770's is not comfortable for me at all
because they isolate "that" well
Hmm and that's an issue as well, because he wears glasses having pressure will have that discomfort magnified
At least I think
Oh
as for the physical "fit"
for me, i can wear either of the 770/990's for hours without that being a problem
as long as there is no sound playing in the 770's that is
:)
the modmic uni is 50usd
Hmm
Is there like a slightly downgraded 770 that's a bit cheaper so the modmic fits in the budget better?
not really
what there is, is the warehouse deals
see the "buy used" link, upper right
Oh and those are the 990s, which I imagine are better because bigger number
fully open = the back of the cans themselves lets sound out and in
the practical effect is that the soundstage is VERY big in them
the 880's are semi-open
and the 770 are closed
Hmm
https://europe.beyerdynamic.com/dt-990-pro.html <- you can see the differences here
Ok thank you
Best mouse in my opinion
Also @amber oracle how would open headphones work with a mic? Would the mic pick up the audio or do you think it would be fine?
its not "open" to that extent
but, i can imagine that IF you had a mic that could bend up and be close to the can itself
it might pickup something
might
remember, the 990's are meant for studio use
meaning, mic in front of you if anywhere
Oh ok, I dont know much about headphones so thanks for explaining
you are very welcome
its a good question, and not something i would normally think about
I think we decided on the 770/modmic, thanks for the idea @amber oracle
So ive been having this error today and today only 🙃 "Unknown USB device needs more power than the Port can Supply"
Ive literally had the same stuff plugged in for 5 months
@warm scroll you are very welcome :)
@warm scroll please report back when he gets them :)
Yep sure will
Nvm
https://www.razer.com/gaming-keyboards-keypads/razer-cynosa-chroma-pro
Is this any good?
Well it is a membrane so there's that. Also razers software is notorious for being annoying. Other than that it's OK 😂
Well it's a cheap keyboard, probably cheapest on the site, and I already have a razer mouse
Also I just realized I might need a webcam
I wouldnt consider 60 bucks cheap
And I dont personally like razer peripherals but Ik that a lot of people have strong brand loyalty to them
I say their function is nice and some software features are very helpful, although the build quality is not always up to par with other companies like logitech and the software can be a pain at times
Software was definitely a pain in my experience
But your right their build quality feels cheap
I liked the look of that Rosewill keyboard that was posted a few days ago.
Pretty sure that one was Mike's
I have had a few issues with the software but not too many from my experience
Personally wouldn't recommend getting a razer keyboard over an alternative for the same price
for keyboards i like the logitech g pro a lot
whats a good pc headset with a mic?
@deft sinew whats your budget?
@limber rain no more than $125 max.
not really no. i looked at corsairs and hyperx
logitech might have something
also with tax included or without
or hyperx
included
need anything for it? or just what comes with it? new to the pc world
nope plug and play
unless you want noise and echo cancelling then you need a dedicated sound card
but good non the less
hm ight. thanks
ok.
anyone use and have any opinions with the logitech g815? been watching a lot of youtube reviews and still on the fence, mostly due to price
i'd say it's not worth it for the price
especially with flat keycaps, your muscle memory and key travel will be screwed
not really i already use a flat membrane normal kb
chiclet keys?
logitech k120
not a gaming kb, just a normal desktop one
looking for a mechanical one for gaming and have a g502 hero so wanted to go with a logitech and i like the low profile
but like i said it's kinda pricey and i've seen a lot of mixed reviews about some switches being different from what was ordered, poor machining, warped switches, etc
others say it's great so yeah just seeing if anyone here had one
eh, i wouldn't take those odds tbh
Reason: Bad word usage
Thats a oof
oh sorry, most of the negative reviews were from launch and was just wondering if logi has got their "act" together with production yet
thanks for the riveting discussion baby
Huh?
huh
Ur welcome

@amber oracle Just an update, he just got the 770s. He hasnt had a chance to wear them extensively yet but says they are super comfortable and have amazing sound quality on first impressions. Ill let you know how he likes them after prolonged use
He's not an audiophile but says they have the best sound hes ever heard in headsets
Also he has yet to test the modmic, but ill update you on that as well
@warm scroll good to hear :)
do remember to tell him to NOT use the front mini jacks on his case
Well the problem is that the cord isnt long enough to reach behind, is it worth it to get an extender or something
i would say yes
but he might have a decent enough connection
and/or he might not notice the sound difference
its a multitude of things really
in no particular order
level of hearing
susceptibility to small amounts of random noise
type of music/content he listens to
those are the main ones that are decided directly by him
then there is the always "fun" one of: Quality of the front panel connector on his specific mainboard + case combo
A way to test it is to turn the machine for a bit and have it reach
if he doesnt notice a difference, then just smile and nod
i hope that makes some kind of sense @warm scroll
Yeah thanks for the advice. I didnt think about that bit I'll have him give it a shot
you are very welcome :)
as should be fairly obvious, i care a fair deal about sound :)
Eyo. I think this is the right place to post this.
I'm looking to get a mic that I can have sitting on my desk but directly behind my desk is a brick wall. I do not have the option of being able to put up acoustic sound panel things and was wondering if there are any mics around that I could use which help avoiding echo and such things if any of that makes sense.
I currently use a mic linked with my hyper X headset which is just terrible and really want to change it up a bit
And of course that Rosewill keyboard I was looking at went out of stock
Huh, but Walmart.com apparently has it in stock for some reason.
@full rock try hanging a blanket or something similar over that brick wall area
Easier said then done. It's a tiny area but I think it's the main culprit to the issue
As picture shows
Whats everyone's favorite key switch?
Membrane
Keyboard
Wow those replies were just phenomenal. Never even considered those. Personally my favorite is braided cable but I can respect these others
@full rock what is that tango Tek logo on, is it like a picture or something?
It's just a post card sitting onto of the socket edge. It's not held up with anything. I'm a patreon to his Minecraft server and it's a happy new year thing basically @knotty cape
Other option is a headset with a mic that is actually decent. Im currently using these and the mic quality just isnt good enough for what i want when im recording stuff.
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00SAYCXWG/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
anyone have some decent microphone stand recommendations?
looking to get my blue yeti out of the way of my monitor :P
any arm with a shock mount
@amber oracle any budget minimum if i want something that isn't trash?
i got a yeti with a shock mount, you can find some cheap combo packs on amazon, mine is from KNOX gear, like 30 bucks
@amber oracle
what mice do you guys recommend for huge hands
preferably a light, wireless mouse but if you have any recommendations feel free to @ me
G502 lightspeed
If it has to be wireless
I have the g502 wired and massive hands and I love it
It has customizable weight, like 7 programmable buttons and a nice little rgb
@tepid mist
yeah i know of the g502 wireless, even on the lowest weight it still bothers my wrist, i had one for a little over a year
fine for the first couple of months then it started bothering me
Hmmm lemme think then and I'll get back to you
alright, thanks
Have you considered the G902?
Hi. I'm looking for a wireless adapter compatible with Dell Optiplex 3060. Any suggestions? Thank you
are you looking for a USB type, PCIe add in card type, or Mini PCIe?
Surround sound on my pc will straight up not work. I've tested TWO headsets both with 7.1 surround sound and they both have the same problem. Only coming from left and right channels. I've uninstalled drivers and reinstalled. I think my mobo sound chip is broken or something. Both headset are wireless with USB tho
have you tried mini jack?
the jack that most computer hardware uses, including phones
you mean plug my headsets in the headphone jack? I can try that
the audio is terrible
oof
@jagged pewter if your headsets use USB, they skip the mainboards soundchip
yeah. But both headsets don't produce surround sound
they work perfectly on other PCs
then that would seem to indicate a configuration problem on your end
that is between you and the machine in question
that should not help you
ok
But, long story short is this: look at what actual software is doing what.
and that is the limit of what i can say today (because i do need to sleep at times)
lol it's not even dark out for me
its 03:30 here, at night.
Sleep naed lol
yeah sleep
Good night Naed lol
Hey all. I have an MSI X370 Gaming Pro motherboard with I believe 4-pin 5050 RGB header. Anyone got some recommendations for me?
Recommendations for what? Fans? Rgb strips?
RGB Strips
But I ended up finding some that were recommended by MSI, so thanks anyways 🙂
Ok then
I have a question pertaining to playing audio through auxilary and built in speakers. Would this be the place to ask?
sure
that's pretty much it, I can't figure out how to play audio through my built in laptop speakers, Eluktroniks P650HP, and through the audio jack, Ubuntu 18.04
oh im not sure you can play the audio on both at the same time
not natively at least
I figured as much, I can't find any setting in Alsamixer either
There might be a janky way to do it
I guess i have to figure out if it's software or hardware limited
when you plug something into a it turns off the speakers and plays through cable
yeah
not gonna wire to jump it, that's for sure
I may have found just the thing
paprefs PulseAudio Preferences.
Didnt work
Thoughts on Ducky Keyboards?
I'm in between the Ducky Collab Panda and the Logitech Pro X
I've been using Logitech peripherals for quite a while now but I'm in love with Ducky's panda Kb
i mean, typist-brands are always good because they don't really use proprietary functions
so you can replace the keycaps without worrying about forgetting
plus logitech pro X is rather overpriced imo
I understand
I've never liked the Logitech keyboard. I love their mice just the keyboards are meh to me
I ordered a one 2 mini tho so can't wait for that to come 😂
Well that's not very hard to beat razers quality 😉
logitech has nice wireless mice
G pro wireless. Expensive tho
I agree that the quality of razer products doesn't feel great but I still like them
but i also got on sale so
Whoops put that in wrong chat at first ^
Also, I'm glad this is back in stock:
https://www.newegg.com/p/N82E16823201111
anyone know of any good brown switch keyboards under $70?
Best headset and/or best headphone/microphone combo on the market?
Grado PS2000E and AKG C214
Is this the place to talk about rgb led straps? If so, recommendations? Looking for inside case as well as behind desk.
Question for everyone here. I want to get a small sound system for my desktop. What's a good brand to turn to for this? Bonus if it's wireless or minimal wiring, already lots of cables to manage.
im running two 4-foot towers and a sub with a yamaha mx-800 amp, can say that i never use them
jokes aside, are you looking for monitors or just sum desk speakers?
desk speakers.
heres some speakers; AudioEngine HD3 for your wireless fix, Edifier E25 Luna Eclipse for a two speaker simple setup, Logitech Z623 entry level price (might have to download an EQ to get rid of a little bass) and finally, Logitech Z200 computer speakers because they are $23 and i have no idea what your price range is.
for a lot of decent desk speakers the subwoofer is a separate box that goes on the floor, so if u want desk only the luna delivers on that front
these are common recommendations, but as always when your spending money on tech dont let me spend your money, do a little research on your own to find what really fits your needs because you know them best
I haven't really set a budget myself, since I don't know what to expect looking into this.
I will look at those and branch out from there!
Question here, is the vivo vesa adapter compatible with the benq zowie xl2731???
What are a good keyboard and mouse combo? Looking for something more on the cheap side..
@untold snow check out RedDragon, they make some good budget peripherals
Alright, thanks for the recommendation 😄
yep
Has anyone here used the hyper x cloud stinger or razer kraken x or razer kraken x lite?
What i wanna know is the different in content consumption between stereo and 7.1
k
Any diff between razer kraken x lite and razer kraken x?
People have been saying that hyper x cloud stinger is not good for content consumption
looks like the lite is just lighter weight
for some reason i can't find the headphone spec for the lite
I found everyrhing besides the decibel spec
this is for the non lite https://i.imgur.com/mSlSgbo.png
There is no lite headset on the razer site
not that i can find, no
I know the specs for that one
I kinda feel bad for spending all the budget on headphones
But no decibel spec
If you search kraken x lite kraken classic pops up
idk much about these headphones, but good audio is always nice. I spent 400 on my headphone setup and I have no regrets
If corona wasnt a thing i could just get out and test them
same, can't go out of the house without a mask
