Ur right nvm
really check rocket jump ninja, he reviews mice very well and his videos usually help deciding whether or not you should buy a mouse or not
and by that i don't mean you should think the same thing as him
and let him decide for you
but it's just a good way to have an idea about a product
Yup thx
np 🙂
nice
Anyone got any recs for a cheap smallish monitor to use as a vertical discord window?
All I'm gonna use it for is discord and twitter so it doesn't need to be anything even remotely fancy lol
Vertical?
smth like this could work, just basically any semi-decent 1080p monitor would likely work, idk what you mean by vertical tho
https://www.amazon.com/Sceptre-E225W-19203R-Monitor-Speakers-Metallic/dp/B07774L6TT/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=1080p+monitor&qid=1580227763&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&sr=8-3
@daring zenith he is talking about a monitor that is in landscape mode
ahhh
:)
one of dem rotatable monitors... idk how to even look for that xD
portrait is the same as when you hold a phone (tall vs wide)
the function is called "pivot"
OR
any monitor with a vesa mount, but then you also need an arm that can hold it
recommendation in regards to vertical screens. Get one that has equal bezels if possible
so i have like a deathadder elite and the scroll wheel is making noises and the rubber padding on the sides is coming off. i want a deathadder but not know what modal i should get lol
i have the razer naga trinity and love the 12 botton set up on the left side of it
my opinion i love it i play alot of ark and that numbers on the side help when running from dinos that are trying to eat you lol
Im torn between getting the ducky one 2 tkl silent red or full normal red
Do you want the numpad? Do you use it?
If your mouse is right up against your keyboard, the tkl is better cuz more mouse space
65>40>60>tkl>1800>full
Yeah
Anyone know a good gaming mouse for around 50-80 bucks?
g502 hero
Heard its super heavy tho
you actually tried it yourself?
because all i know is that the "heavy" that it is supposed to be is news to me
g502 hero was like $34, check your local Best Buy and see if they're still on sale
Might as well give it a shot at that price
And that's the Silver edition, not black
i got mine for 20 on sale at best buy 😄
i like it but idk how long the scroll wheel will last.
its metal and has a lock thing so you can unlock it and flick it like a fidget spinner
go play an rpg where scroll selects spell and flick it and click on random spell. spell roulette
i dont like razer but thats cause i got a used one that had a messed up usb plug and it borked the drivers.
thought it was my pc til 2 friends borrowed it and each had the same issue
Mhm
plus razer is overpriced imo lol
Besides the g502 then, any good mice?
ive never boughten a big name brand peripheral
i just get cheap stuff off amazon
usually
its not available anymore but this was my last mouse https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01DW2VQ5A/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I've heard if havit
got it for 15 bucks and it still works fine i just wanted a diff mouse cause i dont like the num pad on the side lol
i do like the g502e its a really nice mouse but im worried about the durability of the scrollwheel. mines fine so far cause its new tho
no i have not
they look over priced and uncomfortable
so far, the scroll wheel is holding up. you have to clean it after X time ofc
and it does not help that it is on the desk where i have my soldering/tinker stuff
so hands are not as clean as they would be if i was on the workstation.
i mean ive heard people say it breaks after 3 years
which is like, i mean thats a long time to have a mouse, but also its only 3 years. i got mice from the 90s that are still good lol
I hear the Glorious Model O are nice, but it depends on what you play and how you grip your mouse
i have had mine longer than that
Mhm
People like them though
your pfp freaks me out when i hover over your message lol

why are people spending 70+ dollars on basic mice
for the same reason they are buying tomahawk boards for their facebook browsers
I got a G pro wireless so I basically don't have to switch
you messed up
Why tho
like not for any particular thing, i just think theyre interesting
only place i ever used one was my uncles house a long time ago
i shunned him for having it lol
cause it was super weird feeling xD
also iwas a kid
Sideways mice
I have had my g502 proteus spectrum for about 3 years and have had no issues. I have a hard surface mousepad and the glides on the bottom are starting to wear down. I ordered some replacement ones last week.
@grizzled flint when you do get them, pull apart the mouse and check the internals for dirt. You need to remove the glides for that anyway :)
I might. I thought one of the glides was worn completely off and dragging when I ordered them, but it was just a small groove making it drag. I kind of polished that one and its good for now.
I do clean my mouse fairly regularly though, it probably has some dirt inside since its kind of impossible to keep it all out
I have a corsair m65 rgb that is a couple of months newer than the g502 and has probably been used about 1/4 of the amount of time and I have already had to clean the wheel on it.
Should I be looking at the Corsair K70 or Corsair K95 for a nice MX Brown keyboard?
the m65 is also a nice mouse, but it doesn't fit my grip style as well as the g502. I use it on a second computer. I also despise the sniper buttons on mice. I hit them by accident consantly. on my g502 its far enough forward that it doesnt get in my way.
I would really like to try the corsair wireless mouse.
Do you need the macro keys on the k95?
the "infinity" scroll can "sling" things around inside, hence why i mention it. i was fairly surprised the first time i took it apart
I have the old k95 with 18 macros and use them all the time. if I didn't need the macros I would get the k70
and the k70 has a usb port on some models, maybe all. thats nice for plugging your mouse into and cable management
I very rarely use the infinity scroll. If I do its when I am looking for something on discord.
Pricing rn : K70 backlit is 130$, K95 RGB is 140$, K70 RGB is 143$.
rgb is good for like 40 more fps, so its worth the price
But seriously, I like rgb. if it was me I would spend the extra for it.
and the k95 rgb (not platinum) is what I have and its a big keyboard. make sure you have space for it before you buy it.
IDK why, but I am liking the look of k70 better as of now
that has all 3 in the same article, not sure I would call it a review
oh yea actually I own a 60% keyboard rn
My keyboard is 19.5 inches wide.
but I do have enough space I believe
TKL's are usually somewhere around 13 or 14 inches
I'll prob get back to it in like 2 weeks when I am home and can have a feel for how much space and stuff
I took a picture of one of my TKL next to my k95. it will upload eventually
lol
my k95 has reds
the one under it has browns. I prefer the browns, but dont use that keyboard as my main because I need the num pad and love my macros
last comment before bed, consider shoulder width before going TKL
and yes, i am serious about that one
much as i love (mentally) the idea about TKL boards, they simply feel "wrong/off" to actually use
not for lack of trying, there are a couple on the shelves here
true. a full size tkl is ok but some are slightly narrower and will throw you off typing and can cause shoulder pain if you type a lot and are not a small person
mind, they are effing fantastic for gaming
I hate my logitech k400r. its too narrow and when I type on it either my wrists or my shoudlers and back end up sore
I have 2 tkl keyboards. that MK disco in the picture and a corsair k65 and both of those are full size keys. I can use both of them without issue
Thats something I cant really say. I dont notice a difference for gaming. I do hate the reds on my k65. Both my k95 and k65 have cherry mx reds, but the ones on the k65 feel different. its hard to explain. I put orings on my k95 about a year ago which also helped with the feel and the noise. If I were buying another keyboard today I would get the k95 with browns.
Oh and the k95 like I have requires 2 usb ports. Take that into account
some boards have limited usb ports
I always seem to run out of ports even though I have a ton
Huh
I just have 3 things that plugs into USB so I'll be fine
Headphone mouse keyboard
nc
@marsh sky how big of a mousepad you looking for and what mouse do you have?
Model O
and im looking for one that is bigger than the Original Glorious Mousepad
lemme send you the exact deminsions of this one
VicTsing [30% Larger] Extended Gaming Mouse Pad with Stitched Edges, Long XXL Mousepad (31.5x15.7In), Desk Pad Keyboard Mat, Non-Slip Base, Water-Resistant, for Work & Gaming, Office & Home, Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0794WBPHK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_.QUmEbF40TT4V
I have the smaller version of this and I have no problems with it
It's cloth so yes
the mousepad i have now for somereason doesnt feel smooth anymore
i rarely eat chunky food around it
and when i do i plop a big towel over it
but still for some reason when i play sometimes it feels super chunky when i play
That's odd but yeah I haven't had any issues with it for over a year and a half
I have a g502mouse btw
yea and whats crazy
is i have had this mousepad for almost 2 months!
idk why its doing this
but idk
Like I said try the one I sent if you are looking for a big mouse pad that's your best option and it has like I said held up for over a year and half with no issues
like right now after about 10 minutes of swiping my hand across it trying to get the small specs of whatever is on it it feels kinda smooth again
so yea ill def try it out
and ill send it back if i dont like it
im getting a 100x100 Vesa mount for my monitor for like 20 dollars or smthin. then a Mouse bungee and a New Mousepad so im excited. 😄
and its all my money so thats even better
That's what's up man and $20 for a vesa mount? Be careful of how much your vesa mount can handle weight wise and sturdy. Mouse bungee I've never had to use but you might like it
nice 20$
I love my mouse bungee it actually helped a lot more than cable drag for me too, it also stopped me from laying my mouse on its own cable lol
Also glorious model o/o-/D @wanton wagon
I have the g pro wireless ;)
Yea I only hear good things about that mouse and I’ve tried it for a bit myself, liked it a lot too
nothing bad about it really
But it was a friend’s and I’m happy with my model o with a bungee, plan to paracord it sometime to improve it more
only real downside to g pro wireless is price
It’s not a downside if you can afford it 😄 lmao
I had it gifted to me
Even better
Model o is only $50-$60 depending on finish so it’s kinda hard to not recommend
And model o- and model d
Never tried the g402 actually
Tried the g502 and I just didn’t like how heavy it was
yeah looks ling mouse png paste on table jpg
well, the silly part is that people are willing to pay silly amounts for things they dont use (boards with overspec vrm's, rgb, etc), but skimp out on the thing they actually benefit from (good chairs and desks)
Razer mamba elite or rival 600?
does anyone have a gk61 here?
literally any desk is good
they do not matter on the quality as long as your not stupid with it
surface too rough? cover entire thing with a mousepad
I wouldn't say any desk is good
Remember these are desks as well which wouldn't work well for a PC https://a.1stdibscdn.com/1950s-childrens-school-desk-chair-for-sale/1121189/f_156994011564819389263/15699401_master.jpg?width=768
@jolly bloom you can save A LOT of money by scouring Facebook/Craigslist for a lightly used office chair and if it needs parts you can order them off of Amazon. Gaming chairs are overrated. https://thetoppro.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/Leather-Office-Chairs-5.jpg
I found that model on Facebook marketplace for $50. Only had to buy a new piston.
Wooden chair works just fine
Anyone have the Corsair Virtuoso headset?
https://www.newegg.com/blue-microphones-yetiblackout-usb-connector/p/N82E16886847001?reviews=all&Description=blue yeti&cm_re=blue_yeti-_-86-847-001-_-Product Im thinking about getting this any other suggestions?
and would I need to buy one of those interface boxes necessarily to get decent sound quality?
unless you NEED it now, those mics go on sale quite often
if you can wait I would
and what do you mean by interface box?
@nova sky I have them
Get a corsair k95 rgb
the thing is, i want a tkl
@clear oracle I've got the gk61, sorry I didnt check the chat earlier
BECAUSE I LIKE THAT NINTIES FEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEL
oh wait, mike is alive? I thought he died in that horrible bowling ball accident.
ey i have that controller somewhere O:
my wallet says no but i want
:0
Did you see that one on drop but in the yellow, cyan, off-white colors?
It make me go :0
oh yeah godspeed
glad they're bringing it back xda and sa weren't really good profiles but mt3/cherry look great
can i switch a qwerty mechanical to 'azerty' (it's the french layout), by physically changings the keycaps on the kb or will the keys feel awkward ? (basically, can keycaps be interchanged on a mechanical keyboard?)
changed to the layout i would like to use
you would need to change the keymap on a software (most decent ones have a software for macros, rgb, keymap) to whatever key you press or else it won’t change it
Yeah, I know that. I was just asking if the key caps had a particular shape or whatsoever that would make something feel weird when typing (having the key caps interchanged)
Maybe one key being more ‘bumpy’ than an other for ex
Maybe the keys are tilted in a particular way or form
@mighty egret depends on the keycap "set"
Is it easy to determine if what I want to do is possible with a certain keyboard ?
as Sassy mentioned, the non-physical change is just that, software
the physical side is also quite simple
the easiest switch type to get keycaps for would be cherry or cherry compatible ones
at that point, it becomes a question of the keycap set details
which as mentioned, depends on the specific set
So I need to switch the keyboard’s key caps to another set of key caps in order to get the layout I want is that right ?
no, that is just the physical layer
which doesnt matter
just like if you moved the keys around on your current keyboard, it would not magically change what happens when you press a specific button
the software has to be changed first
if you are on windows, just go into language settings and change the keyboard layout in there
https://www.amazon.com/Behringer-UMC22-BEHRINGER-audio-interface/dp/B00FFIGZF6/ Im planning on buying this to plug in my mic for the xlr setup I will build. When I plug in my headphones to this will I get improved sound quality over the stock soundcard on my motherboard? My motherboard's soundcard isn't very good.
@mighty egret the keycaps on your mechanical keyboard most likely have a key cap set with a Cherry or OEM profile, this means that each row can have a different angle which is supposed to accommodate your hands. You can tell by looking at the side profile and you should see that the bottom row is heavily slanted to the top of the keyboard and the top row is a lot taller than the other keys. This means that if your were to switch the keys around, some keys would be taller than others and have different angles.
I'm pretty sure that the DSA profile is flat, so it does allow you to move the keys to different rows, if you would want to do that.
I'm not sure how many French layout keycap sets there are out there
Thanks for the info, I’ll do some extra research and find out what to cop. Thanks again @amber oracle @ripe frost
best of luck in your quest :) @mighty egret
🙏🏼
👍
I'm not a huge fan of the physical shape of DSA, but the key legends are gorgeous
What are key legends?
The actual print on the keycap
Ah, I guessed right. Thanks lol.
so I just found out something interesting with my keyboard
using the fn key and the number keys I can change how the backlights work
Cool!
I found something similar on my g skill one to change the backlight intensity, using Fn and the up/down arrows.
I did it by accident while playing minecraft
@calm cobalt is it corsair?
no some off brand chinese
almost all of my peripherals are off brand due to cost
my mouse if from Havik aka Magic Eagle
back of my keyboard
this is pretty much it, just a bit different and w/o the mouse/mousepad combo
@wanton wagon
@graceful jetty
Nice
I also just have to do f3 instead of the fn+f# combo while in a game
that's cool
computer, your built in keyboard has been replaced lol
Hello, i just lowered my mouse dpi from 650 to 600, is there a way to get the exact same sens in a game on that new dpi (600) ? On 650 dpi, my sens was H:29 V:33 ADS:38 (FPS game, rainbow six) what would be equivalent on 600 dpi ? Please @ me if you can help ty! Is there a way to calculate the new sens ?
idk
but theres no reason to decrease the dpi
if you want the same sens, just leave it
oof
That’s why I wanted to know if there was some way to adjust
tbh, i went through the same thing, but youll get used to the new sens rather quick
as long as its close enough
just bump up the sens across the board a bit
test
repeat
Alright, I guess I’ll do that
any minimal changes will be fine
i play r6
i changed mice
i came out fine lmao
It’s unfortunate because I had found my perfect sens not too long ago on the old mouse
Ok I’ll just try to adapt
what are some good budget mice for under $50
DeathAdder Elite / Logitech G502 for mid-big hands
Some Zowies
After all it’s personal preference @zenith burrow
I use a mouse labeled "HORNET BG-MOD09". I'm positive it was quite cheap, but I can't find a price listed anywhere online.
a real good mouse is
mm710
model o
model o-
light weight mice dont seem that important at firs
but
it makes a big difference
I don't personally like buying a mouse that I couldnt at least put in my hand, and preferably try out. I love my g502. It fits my hand and play style perfectly. I wish I could either disable the sensitivity buttons on it or have them elsewhere since I tend to accidently hit them from time to time. I have a corsair m65 that is also a good mouse, but I dont care for the shape, it would fit my hand better if it was a bit longer. I have an aorus mouse that I think I actually like the sensor tracking on it better than either of the other 2, but it has lift off issues where when I lift the mouse off the mousepad it still tracks movement a bit too far away from the pad for me and I completely cant use it for games. I use a hybrid of fingertip grip and palm grip, but mostly leave my wrist laying on the mousepad so I lift the mouse constantly while gaming.
And that was a wall of text, I apologize for that.
Hmm ok ok sounds epic
might be able to hear oneself think in here instead @stiff dragon
mk
Snowball
so, blue yeti snowball
ye
what mainboard?
what’s a mainboard
your machine is it a laptop or a desktop?
desk
did you build the machine yourself?
mhm
that is not a sound/word that i know the meaning of.
means yes lol
yes
what did you install the cpu in?
...my motherboard
ok.
when you plug-in the snowball, does it show up as something you can select in discord?
yup
you are win10 right?
yup
hm
so just to make certain i understand your problem correctly
when you have the snowball plugged in, voices disappear?
no i thought it was when the mic was in but they just straight up not there anymore
first time i plugged it in it must’ve changed some setting
there isnt a setting like that
because you mentioned voices being gone on random content on youtube too?
they’re no existant everywhere
discord, netflix too
even without the mic
but everything else i can hear
okay, this might sound a bit weird, but since i dont have physical access to the machine, i need to ask a bunch of questions.
I think I know what you are talking about, usually if you separate left and right channels of audio and invert one the voices disappear completely and the rest is either fine or distorted. Background music is not same in both channels so it is not cancelled out, but voices are so you can no longer hear them, This is also used for active noise cancelling. It is unusual to happen to pc headphones but it has happened to me personally once. I don't remember what i did to fix it tho
your headphones are usb or minijack?
jack
check that the jack is all the way in
it is
as in, physically reach over/around and check now
i’ve checked several times
do you have the realtek drivers installed (so that it asks you when you plug in a mini-jack)?
what’s realtek
the company that makes the soundcard that your headphones run from
also, you ARE plugged into the back of the machine right?
don’t use a sound card
uhh my motherboard has onboard audio...
🤦🏻♂️
the things that control audio on the mobo are by realtek
emoji does not help anything.
and there are drivers for such device
words only please.
and i ask again. You ARE plugged into the back of the machine right?
wait hol up there’s a jack on the back
bro wtf why does the back one work if the front ones don’t
oh dang just realized my main audio device is missing 😦
because the front is a based on a cable provided by the case manufactuer
there may be a connection problem in cable
it is NEVER recommended that you use the front connectors
the front was working fine until i plugged the mic in tho
is the mic plugged into the fron usb ports?
no
ok
usb is also resistant to random hickups like that, it either works or it doesnt @west hornet
pcs are weird lol. sometimes plugging something in can interfere with other stuff
In audio that is why we have external dac/amps
before you run off, there are 2 things i would like to have you check
so uhh
for your own sake
turn your pc around lol
the price to pay hehe
mk thanks
in the sound device overview, there is a tab called "communication"
in that one, there is an option for "turning down volume X% when there is mic activity"
disable that entirely
ok
this is the tab i am talking about
and this part might sound a bit weird, but IF you encounter weirdness with the snowball and discord
disable the hardware acceleration in discord as the first thing you try
ok
that is all :)
enjoy the new mic, and remember, it pics up any noise from a silly distance
so muting the mic is a habit you have to get used to :)
unless you want to share ALL the details with everyone else
you also might want to set your own threshold for the mic activity in discord settings
aye aye, that is personal preference thou :)
the other two are potential functionality blockers
is the razor huntsman tkl good?
whats a good keyboard company then
let me ask in a slightly different way. What is your keyboard budget?
Yeah
Looking for all options for analog full keyboards. Currently know of Coolermaster MK850 and Wooting Two (which isnt out yet afaik)
razer makes one
imma go look
welp, this is the only one they make thats analog
i have the mecha membrane version of this, its awesome tho
regardless of the keyswitch
the huntsman is optical, but not analog
Yee, dont care all to much for optical or not. Just want that analog goodness
Doesnt really seem too competitive to the Wooting Two as that is $30 more for a full keyboard
MK850 is same price as Two but is worse
do you need a full keyboard tho
they nice
but the numpad isnt always necessary unless you use it
i like my numpad
I use my numpad a fair bit
so yee, unfortunately I now need to spend like 1.5x the cost or whatever it is
but the MK850 only has qwer and asdf as analog
the rest arent
the wooting is all analog
I like my 60% KB's and light mice
yeah, I know. Due to that I'd hope that MK850 would be a fraction of the cost of the Two, but it isnt
what would be a good set of headphones the ones i have now are the corsair void pro wireless
I would say what you own is a good set of gaming headphones.
ok was not sure it sounds like they are about to go out and only have had them for about a year and a half
if you want new ones, ive heard the fnatic reacts and the hyperx stingers are good, but i havent done a lot of research on them
ok cool will check them out
or the logitech g pro, but i think those cost a bit more
yeah those are alot i think i will stick with what i have for now and save up for a pair
would these be a good investment
there not headphones but i want to get more fans in my tower and the rgb comes with it right now i can only have two fans running due to mobo only having two plugs for fans on it
a few of the reviews say they die after a couple of months, but there is definately a majority of 5 stars so idk
i think i may just go to the computer store we have here and see what i can find there
I like Kotion Each G2000, not exactly your stereotypical gamer headsets, but they are rather affordable
I have the orange/black version
do they come with the headphones and the mic plug?
does Mouse Bungee improve your gameplay?
@earnest flare Good set of headphones would be non gaming ones
as gaming ones are just cheap marketing ones
ok ty i had the corsair void pro and loved the wireless spec but it kinda sounds like its going out but not sure
@hollow badge it helped me cause I would always drag my cable and then pick it up and the cable is under my mouse, and it also makes it feel lighter than it is already
@earnest flare That isnt surprising for gaming headsets. They are extremely cheap and sold for much higher then what they are worth. The only things that have "gaming" in their name and have a chance of being good are GPUs and mobos (Gigabyte Gaming OC 5700XT for example is adequate, not too bad for the price). Anything else: chairs, headsets, cables, etc, are just bad
decent office chair easily beats any gaming chair
and so on
yeah the office chair i have now is so comfortable and thats even having it after a couple years already i have a big head and just want something that has a mic attached to it to use and i like the concept that the void pro had with muting it when you flipped the mic up but also just want something that will last as well
You could take a microphone out of an old laptop :^)
is that attached to the headphones?
@earnest flare if you are willing to do a bit of research video watching, have a look at the stuff eposvox posts on youtube
Ok ty need I appreciate the advice
he has the technical knowledge and understanding to actually talk about the stuff he does :)
Mechanical?
Not needed
RGB and red switch is needed
RGB has priority over all of them
I think cynosa chroma is good but people saying that razer is bad
There is the Corsair k95 that has MX silver speed or brown and both have RGB
razer is not bad
it is not about what "we" think
it is about what you think you will enjoy using
you are the one paying for the choices you make :)
and mouse, keyboard are both consumables
they will wear out, and they will be changed
I like razers keyboards. But as Naed said it’s not us it’s what you think you will enjoy.
the razer chroma is less then 100 and i would suggest it to people for using but like naed says its ultimatly your choice
I use the $35 redragon k552. It’s not amazing but it feels good enough for me. But it also could be terrible for someone else.
also, you are clearly putting a high value to the visual of it. (which is 100% okay) but the only one that knows what you like, is you
Because all other gaming keyboards are good but I dont like hardcore gamer keyboards
Most mechanical keyboards with RGB are going to be gaming style because that’s what they are made for/targeted at.
some of them do. some of them dont [edit: dont]
Paging @tight pulsar
Like they have lots of good specs but design is a big minus on them
Ducky One 2?
@cyan basalt it is more a case of the person having to figure out what they actually want
iKBC CD87 Mechanical Keyboard with Cherry MX Brown Switch for Windows and Mac, Tenkeyless Wired Computer Keyboards with PBT OEM Profile Keycaps for Desktop and Laptop, 87-Key, Black Color, ANSI/US https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07C91W3F4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_6ByqEb7N4M0TQ @lusty magnet this has no RGB but it’s cherry Mx brown
hmmm yes what
We need your keyboard suggestions
what size?
@tight pulsar not quite yet, the person needs to figure out what he wants first
RGB and red switch is needed
RGB has priority over all of them
Budget 100-150
I'm guessing full size
a guess is a silly thing to base it on
lol
Huntsman TE is pretty good. They asked r/mk for suggestions how to make it and it turned out nice
but gmmk said they are releasing an new version of their boards, if you can wait a bit they look promising
@lusty magnet cop a gmmk
You can change switches if you want
Its the first modular rgb mechanical keyboard
micro usb, bad stabilizers, and loose switches weaken it tho
Not if you buy the base with nothing
And get your own switches and keycaps
Reasons why gamer keyboards (Corsair, Logitech, Razer) are not a good purchase:
- Plate is airbrushed alu over low quality plastic (keystrokes feel cheap and sound pingy)
- Case is plastic or very thin alu (feels bad, scratches easily)
- Poor stabilizers on longer keys like spacebar, backspace, enter, etc. (lots of rattle, makes those keys wobbly)
- Laser ablated low quality ABS keycaps (ruin, wear, and smudge fast)
- Proprietary layout (makes finding custom keycaps to replace low quality ones difficult)
If availability is low, HyperX and Cooler Master keyboards suffer less from these issues. Steelseries keyboards at least use a standard layout so you can replace keycaps, but still suffer from the other problems, making them just a level above Corsair, Logitech, and Razer.
base vs kitted out doesn’t change it. The switches are weakly in there, somebody put theirs upside down and switches fell out. I agree on the points, but razer had a focus on improving those. The only ones that really apply to huntsman te are the first/second, but still has good build quality. All prebuilt minus a few (leopold, varmilo, Anne pro 2) have bad stabs, including gmmk.
but the gmmk is a nice board and hotswap is nice, but I’ll admit that I don’t know much about fullsized/tkl boards, I prefer 60/65 boards but many people don’t like them for gaming
Mhm
I think that person didnt have compatible switches
Cause I had one and it was very stable
Ducky one 2 mini also has good stock stabs
ymmw, but usually cheaper hotswap boards don’t use the best sockets for it, making some loose
The gmmk isnt cheap
🤷♂️it’s all context
compared to my keyboard it it’s, customs get expensive fast
but some people think $20 on a keyboard is expensive, it’s a wide spectrum
yerp
Totally
https://www.amazon.com/Razer-Huntsman-Opto-Mechanical-Board-Durability/dp/B07DHNZ676/
Huntsman is on sale for $90
@lusty magnet
thats the older huntsman so it lacks a lot of features like pbt keycaps, standard modifier layout, and detachable usb cable
anyone know where i can get a white mmo mouse (similar to a razer naga button layout)? I cant seem to find any options online anywhere
trying to find a white one to match the rest of my set up
Ahh okay, so they're probably just clearing out stock then
Huntsman elite looks good but a bit expensive
@wanton wagon yo are true gaming keyboards doesnt have specs for nornal use
they're just for gaming
So lots of them arw poor built
I'll buy steelseries apex pro if I will have enough money for it
Dont
Why
@wanton wagon you can't tell some one not to with out giving a valid reason ... rofl
Ok I will
@lusty magnet read what I linked earlier
At that price, building your own will be much more reasonable
You can choose any switch you want, keycaps, etc
Building keyboard??
Even for 40$ cheaper, get the ducky shine, full sized with rgb
Yes you can build them
It will have lack of quality
?
I mean
Wht do you mean lack of quality
I want to build a keyboard
Its not like factory made keyboards
For the cleanability
I'm using a basic Lenovo keyboard that's essentially just Thinkpad keys
Never bothered figuring out how to dismantle the keys to clean them :((
@wanton wagon there are people that you cannot get to see/understand your point. [edit: you->your]
it would appear that you have found one now
Lol yeah
@lusty magnet wdym any custom will have better quality than 99.9% of prebuilts
thats half the reason people build them
okay
could you post the klipsch model you have?
which of the two subs above (in your schematic) is the klipsch?
Left.
hm, a 2 * rca (phono) to minijack is what you need for that line-in
I even less clue about audio than I do video.
that would plug into both the red and white (with the RCA(phono) ends)
2sec
https://www.avxperten.dk/billeder/minijack-til-phono-kabel-1-5-m-big.jpg <- a cable like that
minijack into your machine, the other two into the red/white plugs on the klipsch photo you linked
that would result in the klipsch being the amplifier for you.
from that point on, you would need to connect from the bottom 4 (in sets of 2) to each of your two speakers
does that make sense?
which part?
This is what my speakers look like:
Dell Zylux A525
The only input they have is that VGA-like cable.
ah, that is your current "rest of audio system"
i would strongly suggest you start looking for some actual speakers you can hook up to the klipsch
because that one, when setup, should have a real nice sound
and yes, i know, you dont have speakers etc for that now.
it is something to look for
mhm
Yeah these have some static when turned up.
So I was planning on getting new speakers at some point.
it has been many years since i actually heard any klipsch speakers, but what i do remember is them being quite okay
and certainly above that dell set :)
I just googled "Klipsch Speakers" and... uhh... I don't have an income.
you are "just" looking for actual unpowered speakers, which should not be impossible to find
you are not looking for a new set
you are looking for someone either giving away (because they are upgrading, or something like that) or selling for very cheap
Oh so any unpowered speaker should do?
aye, ideally, you are looking for what would be called studio speakers
I'll watch for those.
and they will have plugs like the 4 at the bottom right of the klipsch
or fairly similar, but there will only be 2 on the back of the speaker
yes
I need specifically unpowered studio speakers, correct?
not really
They just need to be unpowered.
aye
okay
Okay another question.
So I've got my CRT to display video over at #old-monitors-and-tv. However the CRT does not have speakers. Where do I connect the audio cables from the GameCube?
does the dell have something marked input?
kinda out of luck then
Will the unpowered speakers work with that?
well, the gamecube has 2 phono cables coming out of it alongside the s-video right?
I think so.
snap a photo of the plugs that are not being used (but coming from the gamecube
aye, those are left and right audio channels
so. IF you had the klipsch setup with speakers
you could plug those two into the 2 input phono jacks
I assumed so, tho I didn't know gc games could be stereo.
could easily just be a replicated signal
aha
Can anyone please recommend a good quality wired gamepad around $30 to $40 range? I have a SeelStratus XL that's wireless and I'm tired of having so many issues with bluetooth. I also do have a Logitech F310 but I want something much more comfortable.
any suggestions on a budget gaming mouse. Ergonomic design preferably.
The Logitech G203 Prodigy is a great budget mouse but it is ambidextrous
I recently bought a SteelSeries Rival 310 and it's the most comfortable mouse I've ever used but it's $40. Well worth the money I think
I recently bought the g502 and I love it Got mine from Best Buy for like 30ish dollars
The G502 is really nice but I don't care for all the extra buttons. I have a tendency to accidently click them which can be very annoying.
G305 is a solid "budget" choice if you want to stick with wireless
anyone have any keyboards they would use i need a new one i have a membrane keyboard so i would like cherry mx browns or romer g tactile i also would rather a wrist rest
You sure you want romer g? Generally are kinda mushy
Also consider Kailh Brown or Outemu Brown
anne pro 2 is a good board with gateron browns if you can use a 60%
romer g are also a dead-end in regards to keycaps
yuh any mx or clone will have infinitely better support for keycaps
well i dont have any switcs to test on i guess i could go to best buy and test the display peripherals
what's a good mechanical keyboard preferably silent for $100usd or less
@tawdry ravine ducky one 2 mini with silent switches 104$
Or leopold 660m if no rgb
ok i want rgd with the keyboard @wanton wagon
One 2 mini silent red @tawdry ravine
@tawdry ravine might not be esports/pro-gaming or even major brand, but I got this and I like it
arrived in about a week, had it for almost 2 months now and it's still going strong
it's RGB and you can change the color by doing fn + any of the fn keys
Hello.
Any good FPS mice for under 50 USD ?
https://www.rocketjumpninja.com/top-mice I've been using this list but they are slightly too expensive for me. Also, I don't want a DeathAdder Elite
Glorious Model D would be a great option, but it's too pricy where I live (around 65)
By the way, I have mid-large hands. Thanks in advance for helping.
Redragon
Sorry i didn’t mention it, but ‘smaller’ brands like redragon aren’t in my country, so I am searching for mice from worldwide brands like Logitech Corsair Roccat Razer HyperX.... etc
smaller?
Less known
I know Redragon is big in NA, but it isn’t very famous worldwide (yet)
Where I live they don’t sell any Redragon peripherals
Really cause their support page shows a large amount of countries
You should check your local PC shops as well
That’s what I check first 🙂 I’m buying offline btw
anyone want some rubber tai hao Keycaps
Oops
Nvmd
Forgot I can’t sell on this channel
That’s right 👍
id check r/mechmarket for selling/buying
Can anyone help me figure what this is for? My dad had this sitting in a closet for forever
He said it was along the line of burning ps2 or ps3 games
It’s a dvd rom drive @weary smelt
It reads dvds
But it is read only I believe so no burning ps2 or ps3 games
Not even onto another DVD drive?
That's awfully lame. He must have gotten it mixed up with a different one
How much could I sell an original ibm model m for? I found an old one in my basement that my dad used
depends on the condition
if its decent i'd say 50-150, if its great condition maybe 100-200
Older DVD rw 16x + drives have a nice ~150mw red laser in them, later drives made it difficult to harvest.
@young vine
they had something similar but it transfers an m.2 to Sata and it's in the form of a sata drive. so theoretically, you can buy both and have a m.2 slot where your CD-ROM would be
I think this is the right place for this
Okay I'm still stuck on this, my 3 fans have a 4-pin 12VRGB connector, but my motherboard has a 5-pin 12VRGBW connector. The motherboard manual says you should be able to get a 4-pin into a 5-pin but it's not working. Can anyone help?
Make sure you have the right connectors plugged in
Like it’s not upside down or left the wrong pin free
Ok I'm doing a research on a wireless with Bluetooth pci-e card, and see which work best for gaming since it use Bluetooth for wireless controller. So what about the latest wifi standard? (802.11AX)
I mean Bluetooth isn’t really for gaming, it has very high latency for gaming
Wifi would be better than bluetooth.
Usb would be faster
@sudden meteor look at the custom implementations that the different console manufacturers have used over the years.
it should be possible to find some of the research papers that floated around in the Wii era [edit: papers]
Right. Consoles use Bluetooth controller so how is it different if it have a high latency?
Ohh
Allright I will look up then
some of them, on the surface use BT, but implemented in "interesting" ways
mind, i have not really looked into this in years
@west hornet Yes I'm plugging it in the right way the arrow onto the 12V pin like my mobo manual says
yes @jovial scaffold ?
What's up @amber oracle
just saw you starting to type here :)
Lol I tapped someone's pfp on accident and it put their name in
ah :)
I just like reading other people's issues and solutions. I'm hear to learn :p
fair enough :)
Quick question
I bought the G903 mouse after reading quite a bit of good about it
It’s in my collection while I collect everything I need for my pc cause I got it on sale
But next thing is a keyboard
i have a g900, very similar
What are some very good recommendations? I want something responsive that works well with fps games I wanna get back into competitive
anything really
But I will be streaming a lot so I don’t want extremely loud clicks 😁
so, mech board then (based on your comment)
What’s a good one would you say
the clicks being loud depends a lot on where you place your mic too
i love the look of this keyboard, but its also very expensivehttps://www.logitechg.com/en-us/products/gaming-keyboards/g815-low-profile-rgb-mechanical-gaming-keyboard.html
i like the low profile keycaps
and the macros
and the dedicated media keys
just be aware that those keycaps are a dead-end
they are not compatible with cherry-mx switches
#Canada
rip
@amber oracle I don’t know much about switches etc I’m just getting back into all this pc stuff😂
aye, i just mention it :)
Logitech G413 Wired Gaming Mechanical Keyboard 104 Keys Monochrome Backlit USB Interface For Professional Gamers- Carbon https://www.newegg.ca/product/9SIAJYJ9026780?m_ver=1
How is this it seems like it’s an expensive one on half price
Or is it just a scam was that sells it for original price by showing original as higher😂
Need a new compact keyboard for gaming
Any1 know if the Anne Pro 2 is good? Saw some reviews about it
I use blue switches
Hey guys looking for some help. I hotspot internet to my pc and my hotspot device is showing 80-90 MB/s and the pc is only showing 28-40 MB/s. Anything I can do to increase this?
Tethering?
Which would you pick out of these two? https://store.hp.com/us/en/ConfigureView?langId=-1&storeId=10151&catalogId=10051&catEntryId=3074457345619248321&urlLangId=&quantity=1&source=aw&subacctid=489725&subacctname=RevLifter+SoftClick&adcampaigngroup=139111&awc=7168_1582036547_e3d7182dd9480c22d8c94fa5f0e3f1f5&jumpid=af_gen_nc_ns&utm_medium=af&utm_source=aw&utm_campaign=RevLifter+SoftClick

https://www.microcenter.com/product/606146/asus-tuf-fx505du-mb53-156-gaming-laptop-computer---black
Micro Center
ASUS TUF FX505DU-MB53 15.6" Gaming - Micro Center
first one is actually $874
so $125 in difference
much difference in performance between the pair?
We've said this, second one
The ASUS?
Yes
I thought the i7 was better than the AMD ryzen 5 thats the only reason i ask
would you say better by a long way or close?
@quartz stream it's not white, but it's on sale:
Okay Thank you
Reasons why gamer keyboards (Corsair, Logitech, Razer) are not a good purchase:
From a keyboard nerd discord @daring zenith
Some sources would be nice
Only thing I interested in are the stabilizers tbh
Annnd that says nothing about stabilizers
Just build your own thats the best way
But when I can't have all the options available on a GMMK I would take a Corsair k70
Why? The gmmk is (imo) better right away but at least you can change switches later if you want
What do I get from it that I can't get from Corsair right out of box
The ability to change switches, aluminum chassis and keycaps, standard key layout so you can change keycaps, a non-dust magnet
Well first, what do you get from corsair?
Mx brown keys.
Mhm
And Blues are way to loud
I compared gateron browns and mx browns a while back
Actuation point will really throw me off
Go keycult or home
I'd like to go home
Nah man
I'm going Corsair
I was considering GMMK but no mx brown I'm just not gonna bother
You can still get brown. Read the website, it says its compatible
agh but why no first party mx brown switches?
You can buy directly from cherry if you want, kbdfans is totally reliable
Cherry switches suck imho
Vints? Cause retooled are pretty cheap
Yes
Nice
I gotta lube my switches so they quiet
Hard to use at night when they sound like CLICK CLICK CLICK CLICKITY CLICK CLACK
lol yeah
LF> gaming chair recommendations ~100-150 ish USD
a good office chair can easily beat out any gaming chair
Any opinions on best mouse keyboard and headset for around $50 each? Had a deathadder mouse, redragon mechanical keyboard, and xo one headset before and liked all of them. Headset just hurt ears after a while
Thoughts on steelseries apex pro / apex pro tkl keyboards?
Not worth it unless you actually need the actuation adjuster
How is the g pro or the g910 Orion
A friend of mine really likes his g pro
I have a g pro too
It feels good in my hand, but if your hand is a different shape or size, it could feel different.
I think they’re taking about the G Pro keyboard @daring zenith
I was assuming they wanted a keyboard and mouse setup lol
Well both G Pro items are great ✅ 👍🏼
I meant the keyboards
+9.99 shipping
Wow they're really going ham for that info
Screw it
I might go with gateron browns
Ima prob get a GMMK TKL with gateron brown
Are there any "good enough" headsets with headphones and mic?
don't tear me to bits plz
I had the HyperX Cloud Core, which were decent but sometimes it would randomly start echoing my in-game sound into the mic.
Even with closed pads

Astro A40 are nice, I think they revamped them last year, but they're pricey
I just recently bought an XLR mic and mixer, and it's 1000x better than any built-in headset
@daring zenith you dont need to buy the prebuilt gmmk
I have a cosair hs60 rn, I'd like to know how much gain I could gain from a new headset
I will def get a new keyboard soon enough
@daring zenith No im saying you should buy the gmmk
what
But get the switches you want
I don't know my way around keyboards but
No, this is a super easy thing to do
Search up gmmk build tutorial
Ok they are all bad
You just put the switches in, and then keycaps on
@daring zenith
I bought a used schiit stack (magni/modi 2) and using the ATH-AD700x (which is probably overkill for the heaset, but I have some decent headphones for non-gaming use)
And an xm8500 mic and UM2 mixer (as cheap as you can go with XLR stuff)
If you do decide to go with an external mic vs a headset, make sure you figure out if you need a dynamic or cardioid microphone.
Do you feel like you can't get your volume high enough?
No, I have it at a good volume and I don't have it maxed out
Are you certain? You can get any type of switch
Also some black qwerty keycaps would be nice
Or at least kailh,gateron,or cherry
yea I'm pretty sure
I've given up on tryna get smth close to what I have now
if I need to get used to it, I'll get used to it
No.
Dont compromise, what switch is ideal
@daring zenith
If you could get any
And max budget for the whole thing
?
Ok, what is it used for and what switches have you had before
like I actually dont really care other than it's clicky and not as loud
I play a lot of games
Ok, clicky and not loud
Have you tried linear? @daring zenith
Because clicky is generally foe typists
Browns can't be quiet?
I'm fine with some sound, I have rn Outemu blues
its loud enough to be heard from the other side of a wall
like when my room door is open, it can be heard from the kitchen
too loud
but I really like the click
Do u prefer tenkeyless or full
tkl
Or just normal
Better rgb lol
Get cherry browns or blues @daring zenith, they are the same but quieter
And a bit different feel
Search up sound test for all before
@daring zenith
@wanton wagon might just go for cherry bc I like that brown sound better
Up to u
I guess this goes here..... some wifi cards say "1300 mbps" im assuming thats bs?

that 👀
