if it's a nicer keyboard, just replace the switches, if it's a cheap one, buy a new one
what are some nice desktop speakers for listening to music / streams that arent too bass heavy
Edefiers are not bad
Most studio monitors
@dapper adder Koss porta pros on a dac adds so much to these things my god
tEcHnIcAlLy (unless you're using a pure analog signal chain) you have been using a dac
you need a dac to convert any digital signal to analog
lmfao
yeah ik what you mean but

What did you just subject my eyes too....
lmfao
That is the Pinnacle of Gen A cringe.
I blame their parents to a degree 😭
the g305/304 is very nice in terms of repairability
there arent any replacement parts from logitech, BUT you can easily take it apart to swap the switches (soldered on)
there is no epoxy holding the mouse together, no plastic rivets, and it all just uses size 00 Phillips
the are only 2 different screws in the mouse, the longer ones are for the outer casing of the mouse, and the rest are all internal mouse screws
every momentary switch in the mouse is the same type of switch used for the left/right buttons
including the side buttons
Most Logitech mice are like that. Just a couple screws and soldered switches. It's often easier to repair the switch when it goes bad than to desolder it.
even the mouse sensor is technically replacable since it's on a carrier board, though it's soldered onto the rest of the board so most people would probably struggle with resoldering it (though idk if it is a drop in replacement, or if you need to flash an eprom or something)
i honestly wasnt expecting it to be held together with screws
im just used to things being riveted on or uses epoxy or some other glue to cut costs
today i took apart the mouse to clean the scroll wheel in hopes that it stops doing the funky scrolling behavior, i found some dust on the rotary encoder which potentially was the cause of the issue
i havent tested to see if it was fixed, but it was nice seeing something that would be reasonably easy to repair if i do end up getting switch issues or such
guys I currently bought the lamzu maya x weeks ago, and now the xm2w 4k released. i have the xm1r a few years ago and liked the shape. should i buy the xm2w or just stick to my lamzu maya x?
if you like the maya x rn, might as well stick with it since you paid for it already unless you know the xm1r shape is THE shape for you that you just love that much
Use: PC Speakers
SUBWOOFER: SVS PB-1000
RECEIVER: YAMHA RX-V4A
SPEAKERS: R-51M
Do y’ll think this is a good combination ? (Speakers are prob not as good right?)
I have the r-51m’s love em, it’s probably fine lol a bit overkill for pc speakers even
Getting a redragon m913 impact elite for work as it's cheap
My g102 is almost destroyed now using it over 7 years
But Logitech is too good in terms of reliability
I don’t think mic mutes from that menu
All the grey outs is just windows’ personalization locks. You should be able to actually check the settings through control panel
Go through control panel
And I'm fairly certain you can also just click the mic icon in that image
any recommendations for a good gaming headset? around same audio quality both mic and volume as the Razer Kraken TE looking for sumn 30-80$ dollar range with a good durable cable fr.
i should prob include honestly, headset that isnt too uncomfy or small. I have a big ass head 😭
Perhaps the HyperX cloud 3 or 2
ooo adding that to list of recommendations, i might just choose those when i can buy em in a few days/weeks
As a cloud 2 user I second the recommendation. You can often find them on sale, I got mine for $55 with Best Buy price matching.
would you all recommend the cloud 2 or 3? heard cloud 3 better upgrade buttttt, also saw build quality is plastic and not alluminum (i have a bad experience with the razer kraken normal edition)
so far ive got 2 votes for cloud 2 being good, but also more durable, and 1 for cloud 3 being overall better. except for people with big ass heads apparently 😭
buy from amazon and return if it doesnt fit your head idk
build quality, should be around the same at least from rting's comparison
Oooo bet, ty! will try buy some probably tommorow at walmart
If you can find one in budget yeah that's always a good option. You may need a DAC for that if memory serves.
I got mine for 140, and yeah that thing SLAPS anything else ive used at that price point
The microphone is surprisingly good for a headset mic, but the headphones are seriously impressive as well for the price, theyre comfy (maybe a smidgen clampy but not the usual sennheiser clamp especially worn in (yes these are technically sennheiser)) and the dial on the side is nice, no finnicky buttons to mess with. I will say, while they dont feel cheap per se, they dont feel luxurious either lol they are plastic shells.
Easy to replace ear cups, comes with two types so you can pick what suits you, nice quality cables although the typical 2.5mm cable jack connecting into the headphones means not really just being able to buy any cord replacement should it break (ive been extensively using the same cord for 2 years zero issues so far)
Id recommend
Although i would recommend grabbing a cheap pop filter, def helps
Not much good choices in the under 80 dollar price range though
They aren't just technically Sennheiser
They were formerly Sennheiser but they rebranded their Sennheiser gaming branch to epos
Also yeah I also recommended that headset in the general chat though it's a bit over their budget
Im aware of that 😭
The pair i have is one of the ones with sennheiser stamped on it
iirc they were sennheiser for the pc37 then pc38 was when they rebranded to epos?
Yep
Pc37x is an older model the 38x is based off of
If i recall correctly the only difference between the two are the drivers are taken from a better line from senny for the 38x
So same mic same shell
Besides the yellow
Actually these are the same drivers, if this doesnt have any other stupid fees this is a really good deal https://us.maxgaming.com/us/wired-headset/sennheiser-gsp-500-headset
they look ugly and uncomfortable but those kinda drivers at fifty bucks is a hard deal to ignore
Black ones are exactly the same as the yellow ones but I don't think I've ever seen them go on sale
Speak of the devil
Yellow currently on sale again
Yee i noticed that
the meze 99 noir is so nice
Closed backs tho
Might just be me
Although there are people who touch grass and go outside who need closedbacks so i might just be biased
It's all preference
I like closed back because I have kids that like to make a lot of noise
My main preference for open backs is talking feels more natural and I'm in a quieter environment, music sounds like it's around me instead of in my head
Although the benefits of closed backs absolutely are great
i like closed backs because of my environment too
Open backs have the benefit of being able to hear somebody talk to you without transparency mode or taking them off
And also the downside of hearing people not talking to you without transparency mode or taking them off
I like open ears but my environment is pretty quiet so
I too like my ears to be open and unclogged
Joking asides, I'm assuming you mean those like earbuds that don't go in your ears
I don't like those since they often are quite lacking in bass, to the point that it's not even neutral
Likely due to the fact that the diaphragm is so small
If you want bass go fishing
huh
since when has that existed
ill just stick to mah open backs fr
or just
not wearing headphones at that point
or have one ear bud in one out
reinventing the wheel
Sony made one and gave up
I'd give up too if the one I made got a reputation for exploding in people's ears
Permanent hearing loss lawsuits might put a damper on the budget
Lots of posts like this one
https://www.reddit.com/r/SonyHeadphones/s/3u70rc2ITG
Their older earphone batteries heat up cause once again the firmware pumps too much power into it
And I haven't been able to downgrade my old linkbuds so
They're useless
Great sound transparency and audio but it drops battery so fast and heats up constantly I don't feel safe
Apparently they also had multiple versions of both the charging circuit and battery, and they were not inter-compatible. There was an oopsie at the factory that got those revisions mixed up, so the battery got charged at the wrong voltage and rapidly degraded and ballooned.
Yup
If you managed to downgrade the firmware there was a chance you could save it
But you could never update again
I have the xm4 over ear headphones, are they dangerous?
I think I their headphones were fine? I can't actually remember
Id guess headphones would have a different battery and charging circuit etc. than earbuds
i havent heard anything about the issues with their over ears
Headphones were fine, it's the in ears that are bad
Looks like it was because they started producing xm5 tws that caused the wrong firmware to be put on the xm4 tws
I have been looking for a good keyboard to replace my K850 I play a games on my PC mostly and price is not too big of an issue I would prefer a 100% but if there is some really nice ones in other sizes I might think about it
Was thinking about
Corsair K70 RGB MK.2 Low Profile
Keychron
Try this for a classic good 100% option,
https://www.keychron.com/products/keychron-v6-max-qmk-via-wireless-custom-mechanical-keyboard
This for a cool HE option
https://www.keychron.com/products/keychron-k2-he-wireless-magnetic-switch-keyboard?variant=41846757883993
looking at grabbing a stream deck plus, i don't stream, but it looks like it has everything i want
thoughts?
anyone have any reliablility issues?
Know any with RGB I would like to have it for when I have my lights off
Did you mean Stream Deck Plus and not Steam Deck Plus? Because I got confused for a sec
Yeah I missed an r
lol
Both have RGB
scroll down on each page to see how they look with rgb. The front page images are with the rgb off.
Oh ok
What do you mean be HE because when I see that I keep thinking High Explosive
High Explosive would be funny but HE here is Hall Effect switches
What is that?
I don't know much about Keyboards
It's more precise and it allows for analog output, adjustable actuation distance and snap tap, you can scroll down on the K2 HE page to see the marketing bits for it
It's a bit of a new trend, K2 HE is nice because $130 makes it affordable compared to ~$200 for most of them
HE switches it'll just blow up
not actually tho
thats a joke
anyway yeah they're real good
If you heard about CS2 banning snap tap because it allows you to easily perfectly counter strafe, this is the tech
instant actuation, and I think you can also do pressure sensitive inputs on them
You can set actuation higher or lower whenever you want if you want it to feel more responsive, or if it's usually too sensitive and you want to press down more before it registers
Pretty much yeah
There's also the analogue output bit mostly for racing games that allow you to translate how much you press down into a sliding scale like how joystick inputs are
I wouldn't sell a keyboard on that lol
Source: I'm actually useless trying to do this and I was a regional champion
Yeah the pressure sensitive bit

but it seems pretty gimmicky fr
It's cool, so I'd mention it lol
I used to play with a laptop and use its keyboard and just a little over a year ago I got a new PC the only thing I have to upgrade is the Keyboard Because this is what keyboard I am using
I just know it works for trackmania
I wonder how you would even set the sensitivity curve
I have had this for my family PC since 2017 sat in storage until a year ago
Anyways HE is new and has some fun features, downside is a bit more expensive, less customization (it's hotswap but you can only swap in the same gateron double rail HE switch), and it's just linear and no way to make it tactile at the moment
Not sure how the pressure sensitivity bit would work there tbh
if there's a tactile bump would you have it max out before the bump?
The tactile bump would need to be introduced separately from the sensor, which prob makes it no longer adjustable actuation, which probably makes it not worth making
Like I'm imagining splitting the leaf into 3 sections, middle goes down into the sensor so the pressure readings are the same, but the sides are separate and have the bump that would provide the feedback at a certain point
Actually that's probably the answer, just record and scale the sensor outputs when it comes to the tactile bump
Should I grab a gmmk pro or a gmmk 3 pro?
Does it come with it by default or do I have to add them?
rgb is on the PCB. You'd need switches that are clear(ish) to let the light through, I think most these days are
both are by default
Yeah wooting 2 HE (full size) is $195
I have looked at the full size and the colour does not fit my set up am I able to change that some how?
You can buy any new keycap set if you want to change your keycaps out
oh ok I will think about it might look into other options if you have any that would be nice
If you want white, you can get the K10 pro, still have qmk and hotswap, main difference between V and K series is that V has 2.4ghz wireless with the dongle, bluetooth, or wired, while K is only bluetooth wireless or wired
https://www.keychron.com/products/keychron-k10-pro-qmk-via-wireless-mechanical-keyboard?variant=40509382426713
What is the difference for switch type I see K Pro Banana and K Pro Red or is it just cosmetic
Banana is a tactile switch is a pretty early tactile bump and red is the classic linear switch
You are gonna need to go ape mode because I know nothing about keyboards sorry
on some keyboards like often on laptop keyboards, it doesn't take the same force to push the key down all the way, there's a "bump" where you need to push a little harder to get to a point where it actuates, those are tactile switches
provided force diagram for the banana switch, the 'bump' is early compared to most tactile switches
it gives a tactile feedback that kind of tells you when you actuate the switch
instead of linear switches where it's smooth up and down
So would linear be better for when I need to slide my finger from shift to ctrl without lifting my finger up?
It would be pretty similar for both of them
the "bump" isn't like you have to force it down, it's barely noticeable in terms of pressing down on it
It's mostly just for how it feels, it can feel nicer to type with tactile, and it can be nice to have tactile feedback for when the switch actuates
But some people will prefer linear for the smoothness
I do like this keyboard but and I will consider but I am still gonna look because I want a low profile with lower travel keys and I prefer this way so I press the key all the way down with little travel it just don't feel right not pushing a key all the way down BUT I will consider this thank you for your help
If you want slim and low profile, this is pretty nice for the price
https://www.keychron.com/products/keychron-b6-pro-ultra-slim-wireless-keyboard
The Keychron B6 Pro is a wireless keyboard with a full-size layout. It is ultra-slim and supports 2.4 GHz wireless, Bluetooth 5.2, and wired modes. It is compatible with ZMK and works with Mac, Windows, and Linux, connects up to 3 devices.
me typing my essay by blowing on the keys
keychron kinda just has a bit of everything
keychron is one of the companies that make a relatively better value prebuilt keyboard
and some other peripherals
I am just gonna go to a bunch of stores and try the ones for display because I am very much a person who has to try it out before getting it like going to store and trying the ones on display thank you for the help
keychron does have a return policy; you just pay return shipping
You should look for red/brown/blue switches to try on display then, those are the standard linear, tactile, and clicky switches respectively
best to just run around best buys and feel switches without paying first
but expect better quality from keychron keyboards than most other keyboards on display
also a lot more nice features like hotswap and qmk
ngl my best buy only got the cheap rubber dome and some cheaper corsairs or whatever keyboards on display
kinda sucks 💀
though i've always known that i liked clicky switches more
Oh and if you go to a microcenter to check things, lemokey is another brand made by keychron, and I've seen them at microcenters before
yea it's usually crappy keyboards but just knowing the difference in feel between red brown and blue switches is nice to have even if it's on a crappy logitech keyboard that squeaks at you
I live in western Canada so there is no Micro Centers I wish we had them best thing we got is best buy
And Canada Computers
CC might have some on display
They carry keychron in some of their stores so you can prob get to try some
canada computers that is
I would but I would be only able to use their online store because it is a 6+ hour drive to the cloeset one
unfortunate
Very
honestly, finding the switch you like isnt too easy, some people buy multiple switches and use them for a while and then decide on which they like better
hotswap keyboards makes this easier
Would have been nice to have a Micro Center here because when I bought my PC parts it was a pain in the butt and funny thing AMD GPUs are more expensive here soo big old oof for me
yea, you can hate cherry red on a keyboard where it's scratchy and love say gateron yellow
but knowing the general types would be good
would be nice to have micro centers everywhere but they're pretty limited
i dont think microcenter will come to canada
maybe toronto at most
population too low
like, target tried to come here and left as fast as they came

they lasted like a year or 2, i forget how long, but they just suddenly appeared one day
and then soon after they all had clearance sales and closed
💀
Buying PC stuff here suck because people say get AMD gpus because they are cheaper by a lot and when I check it is like 100-500$ cad more depending on which GPU so I went with what I have now
yea most of the US doesn't even have microcenters
i'm in east coast canada though
it has been a year since I built my current PC so I wonder if it is better now
prices look okay in cad now
been around the same pricing even right after the insane pricing from the shortages
i bought my 6750xt for a pretty decent deal from canada's computers
I live about here so I don't think any are coming near me any time soon
do you have a passport
if you do then if they happen to open one in... whatever state WA was again (washington?) then you could cross the border for it lol
closest microcenter to me is detroit and it's like a 4 hour drive
💀
and even if it did it would be a minimum drive of an hour to get to because larger citys would most likely get them
if microcenter was gonna come to canada, i would think that they would only be doing like warehouses/distribution centers, and not brick and mortar stores
also sometimes it may be cheaper to import something from the US rather than buying it in canada
so if you ever decide to buy anything in canada and it is a fair bit more than msrp, try and see how much importing would cost
because chances are, it might be cheaper
closest one to me is almost a 22 hour drive oof
if I went to the use and was pretty close to one I would def check it out
Time to see if my order goes through or mot
AliExpress selling out quick cause of sale
i absolutely despise 60%s
they are scum keyboards
i'd get the 80 but it's not out
im still rocking a reddragon from when they were big like 3 years ago lol
well more bad news i dont like full size either lmao
im really stuck at 75 or 80
if you have any other keyboard suggestions for around 250 i'm down for them, i want a legit brand and nothing like razer or logitech
i want a keyboard from a keyboard brand
I just can't see myself spending that much on a board and not getting analog switches. I guess if you're not a big fps person it probably doesn't matter as much
Guys I’m looking for a Bluetooth speaker than can be carried maybe around $150 any general recs?
well, do you have any suggestions other than wooting?
I don't know much about keyboards, sorry
anyone know if the boog75 is a good keyboard? looking at the regular one or the HE
the HE is actually cheaper
https://meletrix.com/products/boog75-prebuilt lookin at this one
Keyboard Specifications: Wired Gasket Mount Design 75% Layout PCB: 1.6mm, with Ai03 DB 5° Typing angle 22.14 mm front height Dimension: 323.6 x 145.78 x 34.73 (mm) Default plate: Alu Case Material: 6063 Aluminum Case Finish: Anodized+Infill (No Sparkles, No Chamfer) Backplate and External Weight: Anodized+Infill Switch
It's out, just need to wait 2 months
as long as you don't order white zinc like my dumb ass
eh
yeah i know but i'm not interested
ive been looking at it since they announced it
but i 'm not really interested in a wooting
As a lemokey gamer myself I support keychron
I use redragon because im a weirdo
jbl flip 6 is quite good
@daring zenith @dapper adder PC38x on my DAC just hits so well
It's becoming a daily routine for me lmao
It's not a big jump to my 560's lol
Still can't believe these were like $30
Very nice
how did you get them for $30...
Best gaming speakers - is there anything coming at 2025 or should I get the SteelSeries Arena 9?
No such thing as "gaming speakers" realistically
All just marketing
Just get a good pair of speakers
Honestly speaking, speakers are less ideal since headphones are better for figuring out where a sound is coming from
I already have a good pair of speakers for a few years now :<
then you dont need to change anything
audio quality has not improved by much in the last like
50 years
in the high end
it has gotten alot cheaper though
you could spend like $100 nowadays to get something that would have cost like $1000 50 years ago for the a similar sound quality
yep
can i reduce the output quality of any thing my headset spits to 64kbps
and
if you wanna ask why
i just wanna say that the best gaming experience i had was when me and my friends play a game at a lower res and framerate and increase it every once in awhile
like the jump from 720 60 to 1080p 144 felt like staring into a window
even tho this was the game i was playing
YA ALL SHOULD DO THIS , ITS ACTUALLY INSANELY FUN
SPECiALLY WITH FRIENDS
????
is this roblox
That's definitely not going to help you with performance
But even then its just like you'd need an actual vst for that
its for the performance , its soo that , i get used to low quality audio and when i return back to normal audio i will feel blessed
like here but for audio
its not just for this game
like any game
yeah you can't go lower than what windows allows you to set as far as I know
Unless you have a digital mixer that you can apply a bitcrusher vst to
I don't see how you can achieve that
And I dunno, I've never needed to go back down in order to enjoy and appreciate high fps and sharp visuals?
I mean
You could eq it so that it sounds like ass
Easier to eq to make something sound terrible than to bit crush
Not like a lower end PC running at lowest settings would have had worse audio than the 10k setups
Except maybe the speakers or headphones were lower quality with terrible drivers
I also like how the lower end of his frame rates was 60
like if I really wanted to feel the contrast I would have gone 30
Yeah those were the days
Ironically that 720p monitor looked so high definition to me at the time
Nowadays I see 720p at that same size and I'm like "what is this ewaste"

It was 15" or whatever
I mean it was pretty good at the time I imagine
Somewhat decent, wouldn't have called it good lmfao
Whatever it would have been in 2016
Iirc 1080p was starting to be common at that point
Oh was earlier
2014
Was a Dell latitude 3340 with a 4th Gen i5
I was so confused searching for it
Because apparently dell came out with a new 3340 last year
you should try it tho , like its actually mind blowing , all my friends agree ,
play a game at a lower resolution and frame rate for like 10 minutes or more
then go back , it looks like putting glasses on for the first time
i'm probably one of those few people that can switch between 240hz and 30hz without caring too much
difference is definitely noticable but i'm like "eh."
i've trained my whole life up till like 18 on 30fps or lower ong
when i get 20 fps i'm like "damn that's smooth" frfr
I know the feeling. I used to play on a now 14 some year old macbook air. The thing actually got hot enough to cook a egg after a gaming session.
mousepad suggestion?
it needs to be a big one too
i have the razer gigantus v2 xxl and i want that size~ish
its 37x16in
whatever steelseries sells
not mice, their mousepads
theyre on the budget end but still good quality
could also go xraypad if you want a good mousepad. theyre fairly cheap as well and same-ish budget as steelseries depending on what you want. they have a sale going on right now on their website, they can go up to 47" x 22" if you really wanted to
you can also get a custom printed mousepad from them as well if you want to go that route
only issue is you have to find a retailer or go through their site, cant buy them at a normal retail shop like best buy
@neon root what will work well with my viper v3 pro uwu
just get a xraypad aqua control II with megumi or bochi printed on it

its like $30 rn on their site for a custom printed 500x500 pad
for the aqua control II
link
or just buy an artisan pad if you want to splurge a bit more
im still using the razer strider and cleaning it constantly
heres link specifically for custom image aqua coantrol II.
you can explore their site if you just want a different pad or a normal print from them.
https://shop.x-raypad.com/shop/custom-aqua-control-ii-gaming-mouse-pads/
if you want an artisan pad then heres this link unless you want to buy directly from their website
https://jpgamingusa.com/collections/artisan-mousepads
ARTISAN is recognized as the world's foremost Made in Japan gaming mouse pad brand. Their high-quality mouse pads have garnered the support of e-sports players globally. ARTISAN offers six models. ZERO, HIEN, HAYATE OTSU, HAYATE KOU,RAIDEN, SHIDENKAI V2. JP Gaming is the official retailer of ARTISAN in the U.S.
if you go artisan and dont know what kind of speed you want, then i recommend just a hien
yes if you know how to reverse your age so you arent old anymore

The day you switch to amd
Sheesh you guys are ruthless tonight
do you own one of these?
i have a aqua control plus, aqua control II, and their thor pad. the control plus and control II are both good
thor is meh, bit too slow for me
and for artisan, i only have a hien
actually doesnt look like much cause of the boxes and shadows
if (mousepads > 2)
return "too many"
i have 2 more on pre-order and 1 on the way hopefully coming this week
the one on the way was from a reseller, im hoping its real and if it is, hopefully it didnt break
just ordered geon raw he switches for my 80he when it does come in
How do yall feel about glass mouse pads?
Glass is glass and glass breaks
I think it'd be too slidey
I would not like it
I probably would prefer some resistance to my mouse movements
if you can return it tho it would be worth just trying it out
I just haven't had one before
hm fair
i use a faux leather but want something with less resistance, which is why i was even considering one
i might get one to see if i like it or not yeah
I just have a cloth one
im broken and have issues with texture, cloth just gives me this icky feeling i cant explain when i rub my hands across it 😭
almost like nails on a chalkboard
i tried an alluminum mousepad, it had a matte finish and holy crap it made me feel like pulling my hair out lmao
the actual glide of the mouse itself was fine, just.. the noise
think scraping two forks together
yes
i think it'll be too cold
like imagine going to your desk in the morning
heated glass mousepad
simple solution, obviously
imagine you get a glass mousepad but it's cold
so then you just like, put a cloth mousepad over top of it
defeating the entire purpose of the glass mousepad
lmao
theyre alright however depending on where you live it wouldnt be worth it. if you live in a hot or humid place, dont bother. they tend to get super cold and if you have a sweaty hand or arm then have fun with your arm sticking to the pad, however some glass pads are getting a bit better with this. for the most part, all glass pads are a lot faster than normal cloth pads even the ones that are more on the control side.
if the biggest problem for you with cloth pads is you dont like the feeling of your arm rubbing against it, then try buying a sleeve instead to see how that is.
also if sound is a problem, youre gonna be smacking the mouse on glass a lot
Bit of an exaggeration of use but this is basically what you'll be hearing. This is a lightweight mouse snacking and gliding on a glass mousepad
erm, acktually, the glass isn't colder, it just feels that way because it's more thermally conductive 🤓 👆
sorry, couldn't help it. Good writeup though.
This sounds like it would absolutely wreck mouse feet/skates
I see you don't like the cloth texture. I have a couple (both generic and quite cheap) cloth pads and I've noticed I like the thinner/less squishy one more. I wonder if that or a tighter knit/weave would help.
leather mousepad 🗿
maybe a plastic/composite material would be a sort of 1/2 way between cloth and glass
I dont think hot and humid should be an issue in canada, and im fine with smacking noises i actually used to just use my straight up desk as a mouse pad when i was younger lol
Sound isnt a problem, just depends what KIND of sound
$1000
Hm maybe, idk where id find plush pads specifically
I just cant tolerate the like velcro sound
I swear we've been eating more and more beef but it feels like leather supply is smaller and smaller
🧐
biggest issue then would just be cost and the pad being cold depending where you are in canada
South Ontario, it gets in the negatives still tho

Food grade animals don't have good enough hides a lot of the time
Oh
This honestly sounds more ideal, the more smooth less cloth like the better
id still just suggest trying out a sleeve
Heres the pad im using atm, the faux leather one
Its like almost a soft rubber
Its the most comfortable ive used by far i just want less friction
smol pad
Yur i dont need a desk pad
i always do 500x500 or whatever the next option is if they dont have that one which is typically 490x420
oop forgor they existed. if you dont want to try out a sleeve and do want a glass pad, there is also tjexclusives cerapad. they have a control and speed pad with different sizing options
most other companies when doing a glass pad will typically do 500x500 or 490x420 for their glass pad but tj cerapad has 6 sizing options
theyre located in the US, not sure about shipping
Just as long as my deskpad is 400mm or more tall I'm good
I prefer rectangular ones that are tall and wide
Might be hard to use if it's that tall off the desk
Well I want it to cover my entire desk or a big portion of it
mousepad too thick
Dimensions are usually length x width
400mm of height would hurt my arm trying to use
40cm thick mousepad
i wonder how high that is exactly because i dont have a mental image of 40cm
well, that doesnt help much either since i dont have imperial in my head either
ok that actually helps
lmao
that is a rather thick mousepad
Thicker than the largest 4090 is long
💀
ill be making these mousepads as the new innovation in the mousepad market. just a giant slab of glass. 400x500x500
only have transformer designs on the pad and call it "the allglass"
migu
How much

i paid about $200 from reseller since i wasnt able to buy directly from wallhack. normal retail is about $175-$180
$20 more isnt that bad
especially for a hatsune miku pad
I don’t think I want one anymore
glass pad have become cheaper but the design pads specifally from skypad/wallhack have always been around the $180 retail price
gotta hope a different company partners and makes a hatsune miku pad for cheaper
sure, if you lend me $200

Looking to maybe pick up a wireless headset any recs currently considering the arctis nova 7
Not sure if this counts as a peripheral, but what are some good capture cards that aren't expensive? I want to be able to sometimes record or stream my Switch.
Or is there a generally cheaper way to do it?
hundreds of 1080p capture cards on the market for dirt cheap
most of them are usable quality
find one with passthrough so you can use a dedicated monitor rather than watching the obs capture lmao
what igetmen said, theres a lot of cheap capture cards but if you are someone that wants one from an actual brand, then avermedia is realistically the only people competing with elgato. they have one on sale right now for $65
https://www.amazon.com/AVerMedia-Gameplay-pass-thru-Nintendo-GC311/dp/B07R6P2JJR/
otherwise you can find some no brand ones that work fine for like $20-$30
Okay, thanks
Know anything about this one?
https://www.genkithings.com/products/shadowcast-2
have no idea
Their claim of it being listed on IGN's best capture card article is real
the original one anyway
doesnt have passthrough if you care about that
somewhat expensive for 1080p, though it also supports 1440p 30fps
i would go for the avermedia one probably
not the biggest fan of micro b connection but avermedia hasnt updated to usbc yet on the 1080p60 unit
their 4k units use usbc though
usb c is way better tho
you know ign though...
its so hard to find actaully good lists of things
i think youtube is better
than google
and if it doesn't even have passthrough vs the competition?
awful
Avermedia's are a good middle ground
elgato is nice but its pretty expensive
I know evga also made their own capture card
XR1
USB C and has passthrough but i forget what the higher end one captures at
Pretty sure what I read said it did
and reviews
specifically one complaining about the software lol
forgor they even had that
yeah they did
it physically cant fit one
what
I guessed I missed that part about passthrough not just being software
passthrough allows you to split the output to a display
oh
so you have a input hdmi, then it outputs to usb for capturing, and also has a output hdmi for connecting to a monitor
or the tv
Yeah passthrough is literally you can capture while seeing what the capture card is capturing
but with no latency
think of passthrough as a in line cable to your display actively capturing everything. no passthrough means you need software to duplicate or view within your operating system adding latency. ultimately depends on how you plan on playing the game
IMO pass-through is a must have feature since most capture cards have it
Immediate dock if it doesn't have jt
Okay
Well, for capturing consoles and dual PC streaming, yes absolutely
If you're using the capture card for camera output, no
Don't really need a low latency pass through feed for that lol
oh actually that's a fair point
I just assumed it'd be for dual PC streaming
I forget a capture card can also be used for a camera
can someone recommend me a good headset that works wirelessly and wired or just wired is fine and that will allow me to hear the damn sound cues in rainbow six
budget?
less than $100 would be nice, max $130
hmm, for that price, get the hx cloud 3 wireless
currently on sale from black friday so they're a steal
The HyperX Cloud III Wireless is a new chapter in the legend of the Cloud II. This wireless evolution builds upon the soul of the Cloud II Wireless while incorporating new tech and a bold new look. $85usd
i can use it wired too right? for console
actually, this doesnt have wired option for the wireless my bad
get the wired only version
it uses a wired headphone dongle which might work for console though
looks like they only support playstation for the wireless
and not xbox
only the cloud 3 wired version supports wire, the wireless only connects via the usb dongle to be clear
okay in that case is there any better option for wired then cause the hyperx wired are 60, i can go up to 100
if not then i'll lock in the cloud 3 wired
filtered down your wants and this is what i ended up getting https://www.rtings.com/headphones/tools/compare/steelseries-arctis-7p-plus-wireless-vs-hyperx-cloud-flight/29245/629
3 decent options
actually, the razer one doesnt have support for xbox, so i removed that
in terms of value though, the cloud 3 wired is still probably the best
as long as you dont need wireless that is
https://www.rtings.com/headphones/tools/compare/steelseries-arctis-7p-plus-wireless-vs-hyperx-cloud-flight-vs-hyperx-cloud-iii/29245/629/40554?usage=8864 here's a comparison w/ the cloud 3 wired in case you want to look at that lmao
the link keeps showing cloud flight, howd you get cloud 3 to show up
Might be on mobile I assume? You can side scroll since it doesn't fit in a single screen
alright i figured it out, cloud 3 it is thank you for the help good sir or maam
Morning folks,
My friend is looking to get a microphone for Christmas, it's coming out of his own pocket so his budget is $80 CAD. He would prefer buying local but the goal is best bang for the buck.
Budget: 80 CAD
Location: Ontario, Canada
Thank you and please ping me when responding so I don't miss it.
Probably the fifine off amazon
Could you send the link so I know which one exactly?
This is the one I've seen reccomended the most. Great bang for buck
https://a.co/d/3wzm3k6
There's also this, which I believe is a similar or same mic but with the boom arm

That might be like the v1 and the first one I sent is v2

Here’s their site, not sure if it might help with comparison or not
how do these compare to a razer seiren mini mic?
Yeah I don't think the seiren is very good for the price
If you see an SM57 on sale
Snag it immediately
Shure SM57 is like THE best quality and most versatile mic at the 100 dollar standard
With Black Friday and holiday season, it might come down to 80 or so
Quite literally the ONLY mic you'll ever need
From absolute beginner to world-class music band
SM57 rules it all
He's hard capped at 80 CAD.
You would need an xlr interface though
gotcha.
.... that sounds expensive.
Motu M2 isn't expensive
~$30-100
It's more investment but an SM57 will absolutely destroy any microphone under like 200 bucks
Gotcha.
I'd unironically recommend saving up for the SM57, a Motu M2 and an XLR cable
Is he just gaming or doing recording/content creation?
The mic plus interface what will it cost?
Gaming and Recording.
For 150 bucks give or take you have perfect audio
US or CAD?
MOTU M2 is $200 right now lol
I'd say you might be able to do 150 CAD used
But yes SM57 and a Scarlet 2i2, Motu M2 (or really and entry-level XLR interface) will be better than even high-end "GaMeR" microphones
Wack
you could get a m track solo for $50 but it's finicky
Thankfully the SM57 is really good with not needing fancy preamps
It'll run great with literally anything
what can we do within $100 cad?
IDK Canadian pricings tbf
I would say nothing that needs an interface
I just know that SM57 absolutely rocks
He says he'd be very uncomfortable going over 100 cad
So I'd save up instead of wasting money on something that's gonna have to be replaced anyway
But ye probs USB mic for that much
Is the Yenkee MC120 available?
I think that's the name
he's currently using a school mic from a public school that sounds like a damaged 360 mic.
Anything ought to be a major upgrade I would imagine.
Probably either get a fifine t669 or whatever it's called for ~$40USD, or a Samson Q2u for ~$60USD, both USB
assuming they're only doing vocals, sm58 would be better with the more vocal specialized pop filter on it
YMC 1030
57 is better if they also want to mic instruments
57 does vocals just as well as the 58 tho
While ALSO being great for instruments
It's the same capsule with different screen
seems to be EU only
Now yes
You'd want to put a foam windsock on it
But still
alot of cheap interfaces doesnt have as much gain as you may want with a sm57 tbh
i use a scarlett solo and it doesnt quite have enough gain
Darn, it's the best thing I can recommend for that price
57 doesn't need a lot of gain tho
It's like
The thing with it
But anyway I might be able to find the equivalent of the 1030 in NA
It's a rebadge anyway
i use a sm57 and it's very quiet with my mouth practically against it and without the additional preamp boost (powered by good old phantom power) it is very quiet
probably because i also have a quiet voice
I mean yeah, phantom power
Not any fancy stuff like a Fethead
but scarlett solo 3rd gen + sm57 is quiet for me
So:
- Fifine t669
- Samson Q2U
- YMC 1030
- YMC 57
- Razer Seiren Mini V3
those the recommendations?
It doesn't even need Cloudlifter/Fethead support ti be great
i mean, it's made more for condensers, and i see online a bunch of people also complaining about it being like right on the edge of not quite being loud enough
samson not samsung
other interfaces work fine when i'm doing stage work
like, using something like a behringer x32 that has built in preamps that get loud enough to peak from my speaking voice
but absolutely not a scarlett solo lmao
Motu M2 is apparently great according to someone way more versed in mics than me
but also $200
This is probably an option, kinda wacky but it is available locally and cheap so
https://www.canadacomputers.com/en/small-diaphragm-condenser-microphones/240356/fifine-a6v-rgb-usb-microphone-with-filter-tripod-a6v.html
would still be an upgrade and they can save some money
Fifine products are generally fine
it's cheap and it works
For the purposes of say discord audio, upgrading from laptop mic to a fifine mic is a huge upgrade still
looks like it has more gain than the scarlett solo looking at specs
For his price requirements I would probably do this. Gets you a good mic plus an arm/shock mount/pop filter for $56CAD
https://www.amazon.com/FIFINE-Microphone-Condenser-Streaming-Youtube-A6T/dp/B09Q2ZZGH2/
A6T is a USB gaming condenser microphone kit, featured with automatically gradient RGB, tap-to-mute and mic gain knob. IDK, I just learned it doesn't need much gain to get clear sound
I only see EU retailers that have it, none on amazon or wegg
I guess if you EQ and use processing you can get away with even less
For 5 cad more would the Razer Seiren V3 Mini be better? He would be able to get it off amazon and I have personally had a very good experience with razer products being both good and durable (imporant as I move a lot).
No
100% not
I have personal experience with Razer gear breaking from being looked at wrong
I mean, I have a fifine mic right now, it's fine and generally durable
We have polar opposite experiences then.
I'd not spend more for anything Razer personally
Razer mice is fine, razer everything else generally tends to be bad
Razer has good stuff and bad stuff. I don't think their mics are worth more than fifine.
Even the mice are meh for the prices
There is the whole razer tax thing I am aware.
And most Razer gear I had broke very quickly even if I didn't abuse it
Like juuuust out of warranty
But in my experience at least, it's always plug and play and just works. Hell I have had my razer products dropped and never broken many a time.
all my stuff is out of warranty and still working.
semi recently they have been good when it comes to orochi at least
Goes to show that product quality > brand name
I also had a RVU for a long time, although I really wore down the rubber sides
I'd argue that the value is just
Bad
Even if you disregard how long it lasts
The price is just too high for the capabilities for most stuff
Unless it's a laptop ironically, Razer sells their laptops at solid competitive prices here for some reason
Before keychron mice became an option, Razer mice tends to be pretty decent value wise compared to everything else
Razer laptops here are priced terribly lol
the only upside is they generally put relatively very good screens on
Even if the seiren mic quality is a bit better than the fifine t6 (I don't know if it is) you're paying more and not getting the boom arm, shock mount, and pop filter
My problem with their laptops is that I don't look for a MacBook competitor, I look for a desktop replacement with gaming laptops
This
Fifine is much better value
Razer laptop is like $2500 with a 4070, but you get a 1440p240 oled screen
Getting the mic closer to your mouth and futher from the keyboard is gonna help a lot. That tiny stand on the siren means it's right next to the keeb and probably at least a foot away from your mouth
fifine's mics should last you for as long as you need, most people are just gonna use this sh for discord or gaming anyways
With competitors you can easily get <$1500 with a 4070 and a reasonable 1440p144 or so panel
low ass bitrates
Isn't it just a tripod stand?
^
ohh
For slightly more you get the boom setup
I was looking at the wrong one
Fifine is a starter pack
The stands are apparently not terrible even if you replace the mic later
That one seemed to be $100cad though
ONLY reason why i have a sm57 is because i originally wanted to try out voice acting (as a hobby) but nowadays it's really just overkill for me since i just use it for discord calls
The one I linked is $40US or ~55CAD
This pc gaming microphone equips with bicolor rotating rgb lighting, easy tap-to-mute and convenient gain control. It's ideal for gaming, streaming and chatting. The USB computer easy to use and install, just plug and play with your pc, laptpo, macbook and playstation. No need additional driver o...
this one right?
my old like no name usb mic sounds pretty much the same on discord as a sm57 in terms of quality
becomes higher when you try to ship it to Canada
Ah
Yes
The A6 is also the same one that's $40 cad in store
20% more than the V3 Seiren but I do agree with you on the arm making a difference.
I use a arm with my V2 Seiren Pro.
Discord has pretty low bitrate limits (unless you boost your server lol)
same as this but different stand
exactly
But I did ask earlier and the person in question is gonna be recording sounds like
Yeah streaming makes a difference
dont need to get too crazy but yeah there will be more of a noticable difference in that case
Ultimately the SM57 is really endgame stuff for how relatively cheap it is for the quality
Out of budget though
I'm talking otherwise yes
get the fifine with the boom arm and you can reuse the boom arm for the sm57 or 58
If bros YouTube gets big enough that he needs a nicer mic then he can upgrade
i'm currently using my old crappy mic boom arm that came with my usb mic for my 57 lmfao
I love how everyone is obsessed with the SM7B
While you can build a whole arm+interface+mic setup for less than the SM7B alone lol
it honestly sucks ass but it works
It's soooooo stupid
also yeah sm7b is overrated
I recommended the Fifine mic with arm and filter to him.
It's exactly 79.99 CAD without prime membership
so right in budget
some podcasters have done more research and gotten better value podcast mics
Awesome
though the 7b is pretty iconic
Podmic is not bad
But it costs the same as a 57 and sounds worse in many ways
but just for aesthetics, not exactly worth it
It's so funny
The little 57 is just dumping all over mics costing 2-4 times the price
Prob also want to tell them about the same mic in store with a tripod for 40 cad on canadacomputers
It's honestly incredible
Not sure his age but 18-24yr olds get 50% off Prime, might be worth it for the prime exclusive deal on the mic
tripod stand isn't great but half the price so yea
It says "young adults get 50% off Prime. All 18-24 year-olds and student welcome"
Ahh he doesn't qualify then.
interesting
how are keychrons keyboards lately? was potentially looking for something wireless to switch between pc and mac
still very good
what is the difference between their k series and q series cuz it looks like the q is double the price
Q is properly full metal and a nicer gasket mount
ahh got it
V Max is probably the nicest without spending too much
hmm alright
Anyone know why razers DPI is way more inaccurate than others?
I have mine set at "1800" DPI and it's well, pretty fast imo. Yet when I use a glorious model O (was borrowing for minecraft I didn't buy it 🙄 ) the 1800 DPI is basically flinging my mouse across the room
I found razer's to be pretty similar to logitech
so it's pretty much a software thing?
It's down to how they measure it, or if they measure it at all
Ya it'll be a brand difference
Razer actually has one of the most accurate sensors on the market
Opinions on these want to go wireless i have a stand alone mic so the bad mics arent an issue. An open to suggestions
The Logitech G PRO X 2 LIGHTSPEED Wireless are better gaming headphones than the SteelSeries Arctis Nova 7 Wireless and their variants. The Logitech are better built, are more comfortable, and give you more consistent audio delivery over multiple gaming sessions. They also boast a mammoth battery life of 97 hours, almost triple that of the Steel...
I saw that but was taken back since its supposed to habe a 50 hours battery and they report 97
Oh really the actual use batter is over the reported 50?
rtings doesnt put the manufacturer specs on the site, they tested it and they got 97 hours
and i'm sure they retested it to double check
Do they have a test on the Keychron M3?
I've been eyeing it to go along with a discounted K10 Pro
Oh keycrhon does mice now
I havent looked at them since 2020 when i built my computer
Havent needed keyboard or a mouse since
i would be concerned if you needed a new mouse or keyboard within a year or 2
only reason i would do that is because i got a logitech when they had a issue with double clicking and then now have a razer and the grip has worn out and looks terrible
never buying another mouse with pre installed drip i cant replace
pre installed drip
hey this isnt bounce
grip*
btw double clicking is ususally pretty easily fixed, by spraying electrical contact cleaner into the switch
or just replacing the switch
it's just 3 pins that need to be desoldered
tried that, i ended up getting a replacement and selling that replacement to get a razer bassalisk ultimate
not even replacing the switch fixed the double clicking?
i didnt go that far, mostly because i dont know how
oh
and it was under warranty still
no they replaced it under warranty, sold that then bought a razer
the customer support at the time put me off logitech for a while until i saw they fixed the known issue
tbf logitech wasnt ever really known for outstanding value anyways lmao
Logitech is overrated
And before anyone asks, I am in no way suicidal or struggle with mental health
Totally unrelated of course
i guess i might as well ask before buying a new mouse, can i replace the razer basalik drip that they come with
What's your proof they didn't???
(I'm memeing)
i doubt it
apparently there are 3rd party replacements
link if you have one? i havent found jack
just tape you put over the existing take
tape*
idk if these are the right things lmfao
im currently gently trying to clean it with micro fiber and isopropyl alcohol
worst case i maul it until i need a new one or its clean enough to ignore for a while longer
ipa may damage it more since it is a solvent
oh, post i saw about cleaning it said it was fine
but they may have mean the rest of it and not the grip
DOH
what material is the grip made of
ipa reacts with non-polar compounds, which includes some adhesives, some rubber/plastic, etc.
or was it just polar compounds
i am trying to find that one sec
oh nvm it can react with both types
polar and non polar
i use IPA fairly often to remove adhesives (it's a bit gentler than acetone)
never use it on a monitor btw
and avoid using it on some glasses
yeah never again am i buying something with grip i cant remove
will damage the coatings of most pc monitors/tvs, and some eyeglasses coatings
unrelated and moving on, if this would go here, i really like having a chat mix dial. is there an external device that could do that for me
wdym by that
I guess it would it be akin to a stream deck
Something that can do audio level mixing for me without going to the sound mixer on windows
ah yeah some of those exist
there's also stream deck alternatives that are just a mobile app but idk what it was
Gotcha i specifically really just want to be able to adjust chat and game audio like steelseries
But be able to get off the steelseries products to do it
What's your budget for it
There are a fairly large amount of options around
Id like to keep it under 100 if possible
https://obsproject.com/forum/resources/midicontrol-control-obs-soundboard-twitch-chat-with-midi-devices.940/
+
Korg nanoKONTROL2 ($90) perhaps
MIDIControl is an external software (Windows Only), to remote control OBS, act as Soundboard, interact with your GoXLR, send message in Twitch Chat, with any MIDI controller, like APC (from AKAI), Launchpad (from Novation), ...
It support...
I'll test to make sure that this is still working properly later since the last update was a year ago
I found the thing i saw literally 2 years ago
Saw this when it was in a Kickstarter or just as an ad on some site
does seem a bit expensive for what it is though tbh
Yeah but thats really all i want
I just dont know audio devices that well and what would work for just audio adjustment
most audio mixers unless maybe the goxlr don't separate application audio. you are correct in that it would most likely be for macropads like the elgato stream decks or loupedecks. These often have preset quick menus specifically for adjusting application audio
geon raw he 50g arrived but board still in limbo
rip
My board is now ready to ship limbo
if theres any storewide discount from DK ima cop a neo ergo for bfcm
can’t wait to type 10 wpm
@queen sigil what you think about optimum wooting
What would you pick instead for HE
Uh, kinda?
It's basically the same price as the normal one iirc save maybe 50 or 60
It's not cheap ofc
its 270$
for the case keycaps and keyboard
hell nah
thats like the price id be paying for a neo ergo
So what would you pick tho instead for a HE
if u just want the adjustable actuation theres hella brands that do it like i think akko and whatever
if u want whatever gaming advantage then get the wooting idrc lol
Is there not something that's similar kind of board that's better price?
i mean if ur looking for a board under 250$ pretty sure thats like 90% of things on the market
Lol I think I need to be a bit more direct
What's your pick to that question
I'm asking keyboard people for suggestions
I've been considering the wooting but I am not keen on the price
idk im not too into keyboards nor am i caught up with what’s the best value
i sont care at all for the features that magnetic or hall effect switches provide so
Sorry for hassling the questions then
i just go for a keyboard that looks nice or what not thats why im thinking about the NEO ergo rn
I've been considering a few budget picks tho, I had a couple suggested to me for the noise profile which is what I care about more
yt probs the best way theres so many on the market rn
Think the one I last was looking at was M1W?
wooting just name brand so ofc its probs got the best software and everything so if thats what u care ab
Oh I don't care for RGB, or brand or any of that
I just like neutral aesthetic, and dead quiet
It being he or optical is a side benefit
I can live without it
most keyboards under 100$ for magnetic switches gonna be more or less the same so just go on yt and find one that looks and sounds good
Yeah I think it was M1W V3
It sounded good for about 100-ish but not done much more than a brief look on that one
Cos I agree, the wooting is expensive
Hella attractive to me but I don't like a price like that
yeah u can go on aliexpress or amazon and just buy the blank keycaps for like 20$
Ya
Well I already have a set
So not too worried about that part
Though does the material choice matter if I want dead quiet? I think what I have rn is ABS
it’s a decent looking case but unless u want something thats expensive its just not great
it’s more the switches
Come on Wooting, ship my keeb already
