More fans =/= more better. Assuming the top fans are exhaust then they'll be bad unless you use it for AIO, top back fan is highly questionable considering it'll potentially fight with stock air cooler airflow which causes either turbulence or less air going to CPU cooler.

guys my cpu is only using 45w and its at 66c when gaming i have a 5 heatpipe cooler is that normal?

marsh badge
#

yes

fallen jackal
marsh badge
#

it doesn't mean anything tbh

#

it all depends on the cooler, case, fan configuration, ambient temp and such

#

as long as it doesn't hit like 90c you're fine

knotty sparrow
#

Gaming is going to use the GPU more than the CPU in general and you won't be hitting all the cores either

marsh badge

^

fallen jackal
marsh badge
#

that's also fine

fallen jackal
#

Yeah it’s 28 c ambient prob bc of that

#

Maybe the 5700g just like to stack heat

knotty sparrow
#

It won't even think about throttling until 80, and even then it just backs off on how aggressive the boost is

fallen jackal
knotty sparrow
#

That's a fan curve thing. If it's not getting as hot the fans don't need to spin up as much to hold the temps down.

#

I have my 5800X on a 240mm AIO that's probably about as good or better than your air cooler and I hit 90 on all core loads and game at about 70-80. It's perfectly safe.

Hey guys quick question. Should I use pads on my Arctic P12's to keep them quieter?

#

They're all going to be against rads so if it helps with the noise a bit I'd be happy to make some up

knotty sparrow
#

You could pad them if you want but I wouldn't. They're pretty quiet as is and having gaps between the rad and fan is bad for pressure.

strange flume
#

Do they hum at all or vibrate?

knotty sparrow
#

Not noticeably

strange flume
#

Let's say I wanted to run them fairly high speed

knotty sparrow
#

Unless you run them full speed and sit with your ear 1 foot from them you're fine

#

The PSU will be louder

low pumice
#

If you want to throw money at something that annoys you, it's your money, do what you think you need

strange flume
#

I mean I won't if it's not bad, I've just always had pads on the fans I wanted to see if anyone else did that on p12s as a normal thing lol

knotty sparrow
#

If you're that concerned about noise go all in on some noctuas

strange flume
#

Just a sanity check if anything lol

#

I decided on these over a bunch of T30's

knotty sparrow
#

The P12s are some of the quietest high performance fans as is under $15 each

low pumice
#

Noctua does use anti-vibration pads and such

strange flume
#

Guess I just just plug it right in now and find out

left pulsar
strange flume
#

Yeah they don't vibrate by the looks of it

#

Ok so I'm worried for nothing

#

Sorry guys, just was asking before I put them in LUL

#

They have a little hum at 2000 rpm

knotty sparrow
#

You won't hear it over your GPU and PSU

strange flume
#

Gpu is waterblocked so

#

But yes I probably won't over the psu

knotty sparrow
#

There's still fans and a pump

strange flume
#

Omg it has a 0 fan mode

#

I picked them based on recommendation and aesthetics but never looked too deeply into them. They look so much nicer than I expected

#

I'm not gonna take them back that's for sure

knotty sparrow
#

The price is deceiving like that. You expect them to feel like flimsy plastic for $7.

strange flume
#

That's true as hell, they feel a lot more solid than I thought

#

I'm putting them in both my PC's. One has old corsairs and it's way overdue, the other I'm removing the RGB cos I just don't like them and will sell them probably/relegate them to my office PC which also has corsairs

left pulsar
#

10x better than my old CM fans that were $3/fan. Next ones I try will just be the pst 140mm pack. 2 would go on my gpu heatsink if I deshrouded it. 2 headers right on the card is awesome.

strange flume
#

One thing to note as well, the white p12s here have white cables

#

It's a small thing but I appreciate that

pure sparrow
#

Would the stock cooler be able to handle oc on a 12100f?

sacred wren
#

But probably not?

pure sparrow
#

Who said it was in a z690

#

Im using a h610m

sacred wren
#

12100f can't oc on anything other than a z690

pure sparrow
#

Oh

sacred wren
#

And only the z690s that have a certain thing on them

#

I forget what it is

#

And that's only bclk oc

#

Intel isn't like amd, where every cpu can oc and every board can allow cpu ocing

pure sparrow
#

Whats the max clock speed on the 12100

#

Without oc

knotty sparrow
#

You could do a bclk overclock on B660 but you'll only get maybe 5% max out of that

pure sparrow
#

Ah it goes up to 4.3

sacred wren
pure sparrow
#

Sounds good for me

sacred wren
knotty sparrow
#

Nah you can bclk oc on B660 but there's only a couple really expensive models that have the external clock gen

sacred wren
#

Ah

pure sparrow
#

Its fine im not going to oc, the boost clock speed is already enough for me

sacred wren
#

You know the ghz doesn't equal perf, right?

pure sparrow
#

Yeah

#

But it does play a factor

sacred wren
#

If the 12100f had the same perf it currently did and ran at a max of 2.8ghz, it wouldn't matter

knotty sparrow
#

12100 won't even bottleneck a 3080, unless you're playing CSGO or something

sacred wren
#

^

#

Unless you're on 1080p, but why would you be running a 3080 at 1080p anyways

#

Only cases would be comp, in which case you'd have a cpu better than a 12400f for competitive 1080p gaming

knotty sparrow
#

Yeah at that point you'd take from the GPU budget to put into the CPU

pure sparrow
#

Im pairing it with a 6600

#

If i had the money for a 3080 i would definitely upgrade the cpu

sacred wren
#

12100f perfectly fine for a 6600
