#old-cooling
1 messages · Page 51 of 1
looks like its just compression stuff which allows the full bandwidth of the drive to be saturated
am i right
or wrong
in the short
- in short
also
what
this is cooling
Yes
oh right, started off with the heatsinks
It's kinda chilly in here right?
ik ik water cooling the ssd is pros overkill
@distant kernel cold ssds run slower but they also shouldnt overheat, heatsinks are only needed for fast and large ssds, like a 2tb samsung evo plus
Hi guys, I need to find this for an old Toshiba Laptop can somebody help me or advice me? New laptop CPU cooling fan for Toshiba Satellite C45-asp4311fl
There are some newer coolers for newer Toshiba Laptops but I do not know if they would be compatible.......THANKS!!!!
best cheap case fans?
Arctic P12 PWM PST, no question those are the best price/performance case fans
water cooling ssds is a thing??
@twilit abyss i guess
It's nice to be able to chain them together, the regular pwm is fine of course. I use just the one on my tower cooler
ok guys, i dont care if there are cheaper or better options for an aio, all i want to know is if a nzxt kraken z73 will keep a 3700x cool
@distant kernel cold ssds run slower but they also shouldnt overheat, heatsinks are only needed for fast and large ssds, like a 2tb samsung evo plus
@royal galleon I'm talking abt pcie 4 ssds
Dw ik
Obviously
I think most decent coolers will keep a 3700X cool, a Kraken Z73 would be extra
Probably more suited for the Ryzen 9s
F
Of you want a cooler with an oled display, get a good one @flat bone
Oop
@royal galleon
Try asus rog ryujin
Same overpriced aio
Honestly for 300$ u can just build a custom loop
@royal galleon also
nzxt sucks
Well if you wanna keep it cool
Those both suck
Well
Not suck
But there are better coolers
yo
Those just have the fancy benefit of an oled on the block
If you want actual cooling performance, build a custom loop or get an arctic freezer
You can't have both
but ive been going server to server and everyone says "too much money geta blablabla" but i dont care if its the best, if it works and if it has a nice oled than its goo
Also btw z73 and ryujin aren't, by any means, bad coolers... They're better than most others... Just not worth it :/ save 200$ on aio and get a ryzen 9
Idc
Ur prioritizing looks over performance which isn't a good idea unless you have a budget of over 3k
For 300$ you can have a full custom loop
i just need gifs lol, im smart i swear, just stupid at the same time
I doubt the smart part.
i can be, i have my moments
You can get a lcd for ur pc for 30$ u know
yup
It'll be exactly the same, just not making ur cooling worse
And btw
It's not a 10980xe
i just want stupid things over a cpu
Anything.
Anything
Over 100$ that isn't made by a crap company
Will cool it
So
I absolutely think you should waste 300$ on a rog ryujin
yeah, ive looked at ek
Go for it :+1:
Because what else could you spend and extra 100-150 on for a pc, right lmao?
A $60 Tower cooler would do the job for a 3700X, I mean that's basically just 2 steps over the stock cooler it comes with after all
@viral fjord I'm done thinking it out... I'ma go sleep now, but I've concluded it does work... I'll try it in a month when I get my asus crosshair hero mobo, because pcie 4 support and it also has good water cooling support
good luck lol
Lol it's pros going to crash and burn
Because when did mixing robotic circuits with fast moving water ever go wrong?
Gn
question about the X73
I've got an H710i so I've got plenty of room. is it possible to put fans on both sides of the radiator? I have a few extras so I wanna put them to good use lmao
I've got some long screws yeah
enough for 6 of them
grabbed a crap load from work
I've got a 6700K in my sytem and a 650W with a 2080S so I'm looking to probably try and get like a B4503700X and an 850W PSU
and get an AIO especially
and ahhh okay I'll keep that in mind
yeah gotcha
I was just wondering if anyone has tried it in their system
I know the H710 is pretty roomy for a mid tower
I really don't care about noise much, it's relatively quiet as it is
I was looking at the H150i from corsair but I looked at the CFM and saw 73.1 on the X73 vs 46.something on the corsair
yeah I do like the idea of the included radiator bracket
360
I considered 280 too but 360 isn't much different of a price and could probably net me better cooling potential
I'm totally down for that honestly, and when I buy my LL120s eventually then I can do a push-pull with the included fans on the other side and not visible
but because I can fit 7 fans I need 2 fan hubs which is annoying
tbh I could probably just take one of my paychecks as my budget since it's like $700 or so, and yeah I watched a few videos on it this morning to get caught up to speed a little bit
new CPU, board, PSU, and cooling
everything else is perfectly fine, but the main reason for the AIO was to get my 6700k back up to speed
so my budget is around $250-$300 so I've been looking at a few options
I've seen a few enticing options yeah
I think a 3700X is around 300-320, right?
yeah
either that or maybe a 5600X
It's kinda a toss up between the 2
cause one has more cores but the other has higher single-core perf and a larger cache I think
the only game I really would probably notice is GTA
tbh I don't need the extra cores but it would be a nice flex lmao
well I would notice GTA the most that is, cause like
the difference between medium and max settings is maybe 10 fps
yeah
I have a buddy who just updated his rig with a 3700X as well
I mean realistically neither are bad choices
oof lmao
and yeah it would be better for gaming which is one of the main things
oh my god the 5600X is in stock at micro center
hmm
yeah
which is why I kinda have to balance what I need vs the cost
thanks lmao
I mean I'm not getting a whole new PC, just upgrading a good bit of it
dang so if I got the 5600X I would have to drive 4 hours to the store lmao
I mean I COULD get the 5600X or I could maybe grab a 9700K for $280
that's not too bad either
choices, choices
oops
oop*
made an offer to someone on ebay for $300 on a 10700k
if I can I'll grab it
ayy they accepted my offer
they're covering tax for me
only $12 though so
I'm pretty chill with the seller they've sold me a few things before
is there a sale on water cooling components on black friday?
whats the best single cpu l.iquid cooler?
?
Hey! So I'm not sure if this is the right chat to ask but here I am. So I built my PC a few months ago and did not add any additional fans to it. It is a thermaltake s100 black (||full name Thermaltake S100 Tempered Glass Black Edition Micro-ATX Mini-Tower Computer Case with 120mm Rear Fan Pre-Installed CA-1Q9-00S1WN-00||) and I bought a 140mm fan recently and will be getting it soon, but wonder where I should put the fan.
The only fan other than the two on my CPU fan (I have a NH-D15) is an outtake fan, and am wondering where I should place it when I get the new fan. I could mount it to the front (for intake) but there is no filter, and I could mount it to the top where there is the most fresh air and a filter (for intake) but heat rises, so it may not be good.
Any suggestions of what I should do here?
yeah jus mount it in the front is what i would suggest
The pump??
Is it just me or is the NH-D15 being scalped on amazon rn
@old rampart how is the AIO mounted?
Too tubes down
yeah jus mount it in the front is what i would suggest
@tired fog awesome okay thank u
@old rampart can u send a picture?
whatll liquid cool an i9 nicely
does anyone know how to reduce temps on the rx 5700 xt gigabyte gaming oc?
should i lower the voltage and mhz?
Well how hot does it get?
You could lower the voltage quite a bit, and then bring the clocks down to like 1600mhz, It'll be like 80-85% of the stock performance or something but it will use a hell of a lot less power. You'll have to figure out how much lower the voltage needs to be though just lower it by like 50mv and test it with a benchmark app; rinse and repeat until it starts to get unstable; then use the last known value.
whatll liquid cool an i9 nicely
@night arrow an arctic freezer ii 240 or 280mm is what most ppl here would recommend
thanks
@proud plume don't get a 120mm AiO unless you need it for some kind of small form factor case. Air coolers are much better for that size and usually cheaper
i see....
i got a h115i on it right now
it just dont fit in the case with the cooler for the video card!
i have no idea what is going on in that photo
but the HAF series of cases are designed for airflow
so you should probably aim for a good tower cooler
newegg listing says you can fit 240mm rads in the front tho
Liquid Cooling system
Front: 240mm radiator x 1 (optional)
Rear: 120mm radiator x 1 (optional)
should be the big mesh area above the power button
what bruh
why would you build a system with 2 radiators @twin urchin only to make them 240 mm and 120 mm?
that doesn't make sense
if ur using more than 1 rad, make them 360 mm
im not
i'm trying to answer his question
i just pasted what the newegg listing says it supports for radiators
whats good temps for a 9700kf?
@stray kindle what is a good cpu cooler? i need a new one
amd stock cooler
Gammaxx 400
Gammaxx 400
@low pumice thanks i will check it out
amd stock cooler
@stray kindle i will alos look into that
i need a budget friendly aio white with budget friendly fans in white
for a light overclock of a ryzen 3 3200g in a b550 mother how much cooling do i need? case has two fans.
@topaz blaze I don't think B550 supports 3000 APUs
it does with a bios updae
update
unless im stupid, (i am), but i checked the msi website and someothers and it said with a bios update itd be fine
Uhm you might be thinking about B450
Iirc B550 ONLY supports 3000 CPUs and above
Not including 3000 apus
hm okay ill go check that, but a 3200g ryzen 3 about how much cooling would i need to overclock it lightly?
yeah you right
do you guys have any ideas for a cheap but good aio?
arctic freezer ii
okay
i was thinking of maybe getting a cooler master masterliquid ML240L and then replacing the fans with their sickleflow argb fans, is this a good or bad idea? any other suggestions?
@topaz blaze stock will do fine
any good coolers for 5600X?
Gammaxx 400
@topaz blaze budget and style? for the cooler i mean
those are the same thing
AIO is a water cooler
stands for all in one liquid cooler
depends
depends on CPU?
no
good air coolers PERFORM BETTER than aios, and are generally much much cheaper
Ok
but AIOs have upsides
so I would prefer RGB
?
lemme speak
ok
so?
should i get kryonaut or conductonaut?
whats that
AIOs have advantages over air coolers, and air coolers have advantages over AIOs.
air coolers tend to have better price/performance, ad high end air coolers are better than AIOs.
However, performance air coolers are big and tend to look ugly in a system. AIOs often look sleeker and make a system look much nicer.
AIOs are also more expensive. A good air cooler will run you ~ 50-100$, whereas an AIO of similar performance will cost ~ 100-200$.
air coolers break more easily during transport; it's why AIOs are better for itx builds. AIOs are also much quieter.
If you need top notch performance, buy an air cooler. If you need good performance, but also want to make it look pretty, buy an AIO. and if you have a lower budget, use the stock cooler.
Using those choices, it's up to you.
plus AIO coolers are still good even tho they are pretty right?
yes, i used the stock cooler on my 3600 until i could get my scythe mugen 5
of course
but I am getting the 5600X and the stock cooler is ugly
for AIO cooling I reccomend all of the corsair AIOs, msi mag core, gigabyte aorus... those are all really nice looking AIOs, all within the 100-200$ range.
if u have a low budget its perfectly acceptable to use, otherwise they wouldnt include it in the box
Could you name some good AIO coolers? @distant kernel
Yah but could u give me exact models
thats reseacrh you can do bud, he gave you brands to look at
ik
well only brand I gave was corsair
is artic freezer II good enough?
gigabyte made 1 AIO, msi made 1 AIO
is artic freezer II good enough?
@topaz blaze it's got one of the highest performances in the world, but looks ugly AF
Lol
i personally like corsair aio's the best. especially the cappallex series
corsair AIOs, anything is good, it's based on which style you like the best
yeah, but that cooler is eh
not really
ur thinking of the other coolermaster one
you might as well use the stock cooler at that point... the rgb on the 212 is pretty gross
so long story short that cooler aint that good?
it's ok, not much better than the stock one
ok
what corsair one would be good?
how much clearance in the case is there for air coolers
no
what about NZXT?
LMAO
neverrrr
freezer ii
nzxt makes really good AIOs
but eh
not good rgb if that's what u want
best rgb is corsair products
Corsair H100i RGB PLATINUM?
best RGB is ek-aio
that's a good cooler
This triple-fan All-In-One liquid cooling solution is a sealed, maintenance-free system that combines best-of-class performance with addressable D-RGB lighting. With a universally compatible CPU block, it fits all the latest Intel and AMD CPU sockets. Requiring a triple fan mo...
:P
@topaz blaze why are you getting a 250+500 storage setup? swap that 500 for a 1tb 2.5 ssd
no
there is like a 3-5 second difference in them
which is better Corsair H100i RGB PLATINUM or NZXT Kraken X53?
corsair
@distant kernel what u think too?
oooooh baby new AIO to replace the low profile cooler
The case I am getting is iCue 200T
ok, what is its rad support? you have to look at that
you can have a triple 120/double 140 in front or a double 120 on top
@topaz blaze yes
so 2 fan cooler?
depends on the fan size
or you can do three, just make sure when you mount it the tubes are down
yes, its a 240 (double 120) itll fit on the front of the case or the top
if you put it on the front, tubes down
Should I put it on the top?
and is there any cooler better than that with RGB?
@sour mango
@distant kernel
not really at your price point. and you can mount it on the top or the front. like i said tho, if you mount it on the front make sure the tubes are on the bottom
and really it would be to your taste on how you want to mount it
Could you name good air coolers as well? @sour mango
nh-u12a
what about the Noctua NH-U12S? @low pumice
u12s overpriced as hell
70$
lmao
whats the difference between ARCTIC Freezer 34 eSports DUO and ARTIC Freezer 34 eSports? @low pumice
i no know
The Duo comes with two fans, that's pretty much the only difference
It's a marginal change in performance, like 2 degrees maybe?
Recommendation for an air cooler budget $60?
Recommendation for an air cooler budget $60?
@quartz gale currency,?
Would an artic freezer 34 be good enough?
What’s ur build
Lemme send link
Here @subtle lodge
I am not sure if I want to get the cooler in the list because it’s so expensive
Is there any good RGB air cooler that I could get?
Is there any good RGB air cooler that I could get?
@topaz blaze coolermaster hyper rgb edition I think the name is
Are they better than the one I put? @subtle lodge
Whats ur budget
Hmmm
Great cooler
I have to go for now
under 80 and u suggest that
do you know better ones? @spare ember
arctic 34 esports duo is decent but theres a scythe model i forgot the name of
scythe fuma 2 or mugen 5 forgot which one was good
look up a review on it and see if you like it
i don't have personal experience with it
You're welcome
Scythe Fuma 2 and Mugen 5 are both good
scythe bae
@granite depot
whats the best coolant to use with the corsair hyro series?
Lemme send link
@topaz blaze hey your build has copatibility warnings
My lancool 2 mesh rgb fans are lit while off but not while the system is on, how do I fix this?
i dropped the corsair pump combo, 4 out of 4 had loud grindy pumps
whats the difference between ek's "s240" and "p240" water cooling kits

@topaz blaze hey your build has copatibility warnings
@wide pollen ik but it’s nothing to worry about
@serene thistle the p240 has a 45mm rad and the s240 has a 28mm one
thanks
should i do custom water cooling

is this worth?
150 cad
~ 115 usd
whats the "best" termal pastes now adays...ive always used zalans zm-stg1, but apparenlty they dont make it anymore....
there's no "best" thermal paste, but here are some of the best
arctic silver
thermal grizzly kryonaut
noctua nt-h2
arctic mx-4
all of those are great
I personally got Coolermaster Mastergel Maker, there's tons of good options pretty much
never heard of that thermal paste
Decent paste is good enough
Noctua and Coolermaster pack their decent paste in with their coolers
Nt h1 with my d15
yea
found a tube of corsair tm30.....
it was apparently $9:)
lol
Should I get a noctua air cooler or a h100 Corsair water cooler
Nh-u12a
Ok
is h100i worth it for ~115 usd
whats the best AIO cooler to keep my i9-10900k?
My opinion the arctic or the kraken @dawn charm
can you send a link for me?
neither...
kraken coolers are extremely overpriced
from what ive seen, the general reccomendation is the arctic freezer II lineup for liquid coolers
I'm going for a white color build anyone have recommendations for AIO coolers that are amazing at cooling my CPU
also are there any differences with a 3 or 2 fan AIO cooler?
Should I save for artic freezer ii 280 instead of a scythe fuma 2 for cooling a 5800x?
Personal preference i would say. Me personally, i am an RGB nut. so i would go the AIO. But i am getting the feeling that with the 5000 series, unless your going really agreesively OC your chip, a AIO is overkill. This isnt by any means a claim that i have proven. Just the general feeling i am getting from the reviews i have watched.
whats better AIO or regular CPU cooler?
depends
on?
like a 120mm aio gets destroyed by a chonky air cooler
basically I don't want thermal throttling to be an issue
so a top radiator, exhausting or intake, its 240 rad, 360 in front intake, 2x 140 fans bottom intake, 140 exhust in back
it shouldnt make much of a difference w/ top as intake id think w/ flow as long as something is pulling everything out?
I have i9-10900k
do you have a cooler with it?
not yet I am trying to get all the parts
I have yet to even put anything together
I'm currently trying to choose the best cooler for me
@tired fog
ahhh, so if you're going with an aio go with an arctic liquid freezer ii, the 240mm one
it normally goes for 99usd
What about the kraken X73? I get special price for it plus I wanted 3 fans size AIO
I'm not I get for 151 with a discount because of work
I went with the X73
@old rampart I don't think this is a good idea aesthetically but Gamers Nexus did make a video on this and he says you should turn the pump 90 degrees anti clockwise to have the tubes down forcing airbubbles into the top of the cooler and away from the pump
if i just screw the cpu cooler by hand can i damage the cpu?
how else would you do it?
By the force?
The Kraken X73 is compatible with the LGA 1200 Socket right?
Intel Socket LGA 1200, 1151, 1150, 1155, 1156, 1366, 2011, 2011-3, 2066
Intel Core i9 / Core i7 / Core i5 / Core i3 / Pentium / Celeron
should be compatible
i hope corsair fixed their gpu block leak issues
Deal going on ? You think that there is something wrong with that cooler that its so cheap ?
i believe you have to setup fans through motherboard, im sure its within % of all other coolers
Hmm
Yeah im not sure what to buy :\
its onyl cooling a 9600k but for the future may put something else in there
depends if the 6800xt bottlenecks with the 9600k
Arctic liquid freezer ii 360
what brands for fans are good for a fan pack under $40?
In your opinion at what point would you need an AIO cooler versus a fan cooler? or do you need an AIO?
@main kestrel these look nice https://pcpartpicker.com/product/t7WBD3/arctic-p-563-cfm-120-mm-fans-5-pack-acfan00135a , there's also these for 10 bucks more that can be controlled https://pcpartpicker.com/product/LmCFf7/arctic-p12-pst-563-cfm-120-mm-fans-5-pack-acfan00137a
@tired fog I was looking for RGB but thanks.
Hello is there any decent cheap aio for overclocking a 5600x
Check out the kraken or the arctic AIO @stiff pond
Ok thanks
Arctic freezer ii 240mm at 100$ >:D @stiff pond
Alright will check
What about the corsair hydro h100x ?
what are the best cooler master fans? mf120r or the sickleflow v2?
Freezer ii performs quite a bit better @hasty schooner
im tryna match the fans in a case, and was thinking of going with the cooler master td mesh 500, which has three included mf120r's, and was wondering if i should get an extra three pack of sickflow v2 or mf120r fans
why the mf120r?
cuz the sickleflow has better cfm over the mf120r
it just looks different
but idk if there is something im missing
No
hyper 212 evo
You could but lose perf on a good cooler
yeah
oh an aio
i think i might go noctua ah-12 or whatever its called, and then just use mf120r's for exhaust and intake
Nh u12a :D
It's good, great compared to other AIOs for price to perf.
oh okay
i just, i want rgb fans in a build, idk if thats dumb or ot
not
i want it to fit too
best 360mm aio with argb fans...? or is that too much to ask for
Freezer ii is currently 45cad higher on amazon newegg and Canada computers
hm
I am gonna buy a Cooler Master MB320L ARGB but how many outputs does the included fan hub have? Also will I be able to use the SickleFlow 120 V2 Square Frame fans with the case and Hub?
guys, can you use a three split fan header to plug into a single fan header on a fan hub? or will there not be enough voltage
do you guys recommend any fans for a p600s build?
im looking at a 20-50 budget per fan(s)
@tender skiff tryna replace stock fans or
replace them stock fans
so you want 140mm fans?
ideally
(3 front 1 back)
absolutely
NF-A14 imo
for good performance
@tender skiff or do you need to keep a color scheme?
Noctua fans are amazing
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07655KF5C
Take my money newegg
heh
I'm just here to help, I don't work with or for Newegg, Amazon doesn't cost shipping for those fans so I linked Amazon link >:D
@low pumice whats the good water cooler you recommend
'
or air cooling works too for this build,
NH-U12a
Alright thanks
So I'm kinda in a tight spot I'm installing some fans but the connector is super short any recommendations on something to extend the length or even a hub recommendation for PWM fans
Aren’t fan cable extensions a thing?
they are
What is a good air cooler for the LGA 1150 socket
@azure crown x570 tomahawk, there is one aio header and one for the cpu
@burnt goblet do you have cable extensions you recommend for a 4 pin fan cable
Hmm
but i dont think you have the gear for that?
Nope
What would you call these then just fan cable extensions
I know what a vendor is lmao
4 pin pvm cable extension
Never really thought of trying to make my own fan extensions
fairly normal for audio rack installs @twilit abyss
theres one at the top of the board
if its not already in use
if you dont have enough, then youre gonna have to get some extensions or splitters
Well the aio one wouldn't be used but I still would need 1 more
what do you have for a cpu cooler
And. I have two fans I need to plug in
So either way I need a splitter or an extension
a splitter would work
Wait really?
Huh, I thought pump headers were a different connector from fan headers
yeah, i think both fans wont reach the lower headers
which is a stupid place to put all the headers
agreed Sassy
Yeah
Also wish the usb c was a right angle connector
But with a splitter or extender or splitter it should reach the top or the bottom ones
Got those fans free from a friend so I'm okay with spending a little to make use of them
@twilit abyss sometimes the headers ARE different in what they can output current wise. but from a "will a normal case work in this?" POV. they are all equal
Ye ok
@azure crown but also the cable is super short regardless of them being on all the bottom is kinda dumb
Before I slap together my new computer tomorrow when my PSU finally comes in.
Where should I put my two temperature sensors?
My motherboard has two temperature sensors on it, which is a new thing to me, and I'm trying to figure out the best place to stick them.
For now I put one sensor on the front fan intake, so I can see the air temp going in, and another on the exhaust side of my AIO, so I can see the temp going out.
Is there a better place for one or both of those?
place wherever you want
Then I'm just going to leave them there since they're already in position 😛
I figured it did not really matter. It's not really a feature I ever thought about before, that and it's audio sensor. But they're on the board, so might as well use them shrug
I don't know why I need to know the dB levels inside of my case at all times.
But yeah, sure, ok
240 or 360 aio?
I have a 360mm aio from NZXT (x73 Kraken). I'm using it on my 3900x and it keeps it at around 55C while playing tarkov
Honestly if you dont want to spend alot of money, I'd do a 240. Its the most efficient in terms of # of fans and cooling efficiency between a 120/240/360
I got my AIO on sale so I figured why not get a 360 rad
i have to ask if any one has able to get some of the lian li uni fan
fans
i just wanna know how good they are cause they look sick
How do you guys feel about AIOs vs Air coolers? Would I be able to improve airflow to the GPU if I use air cooling? For me so far with an AIO the CPU has been pretty stable and cool but my GPU loves to hover over at 75°-81°C
only buy AIO if you get a 280mm good air coolers and out perform specific 240MMs
if you want good temps anyways
ATM I got a TT water 3.0 RGB but I may have bent some of the radiator fins when I tried to fix the orientation lately (didn’t wanna remove the Heatsink from CPU). So eventually when I get a new case for better airflow I’d like to be able to buy some decent case fans and improve GPU temps while keeping my nice CPU temps.
are the fins bent on the fan side or other side
if its the other side it won't affect airflow at all
unless hes doing push and pull fan orientation
Anyone know how to get your hands on an Ek-aio in canada?
Cant seem to find it anywhere
@stiff pond ask EK?
Well ya i can get it on amazon.com or directly from ek
ask them who their local retailers are
its a normal question for them to answer :)
Alright thanks

Ya thats what ill probably do because canada computers carry ek but doesnt have the aio
Any suggestions for cheap yet good ARGB case fans? 120mm, preferably a 3 pack, around 40$ if that's reasonable (for a 3 pack), compatible with Gigabyte Fusion
EZDIY-FAB maybe
for that price
not sure how long they last but people seem to think they're ok
@stiff pond please dont use that name.. i change ur name into cleaner one.. thanks +1 warning
Any suggestions for cheap yet good ARGB case fans? 120mm, preferably a 3 pack, around 40$ if that's reasonable (for a 3 pack), compatible with Gigabyte Fusion
@crude salmon ezdiy fab
yea, i got the ezdiy ones
lasted 4 months so far
no problems
look nice
controller is good too
I got the 6 pack of moonlight ones and they look great
Took the stickers off though because they weren’t centered and bothered me
I'm planning to rely on software for controlling, are they good for that too?
Specifically Gigabyte Fusion
How about upHere case fans? Any opinions on those?
havn't tried software control yet, since ive still got a garbo old $60 mobo from 2016, but im getting a b550 aorus pro on black friday/cyber monday
Alright awesome let me know how it is
Which one is better than artic freezer 360 or kraken x73 for 3900x or u guys know better solution let me know thanks.
@twilit abyss I’ve got the auros pro and it’s pretty solid so far, my only small note with it is that the little orange leds on the mobo stay on after I turn the pc off
thats fine, im never turning it off anyways lul
Anyone got an opinion on upHere fans?
is this good enough cooling for a i7-10700k ? Cooler Master MasterLiquid ML360R RGB 66.7 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler
Arctic Freezer II 360mm
One of my best, most treasured purchases.
Dead silent for almost any CPU
I did some intense stress testing with a lowly 3600, a little overclocking.
CPU maxed at 70c with zero audible noise
I can't wait to throw a 5900x overclocked at it
PogChamp
need case fans for my fractal meshify c and idk what the difference is between the arctic p12 and f12. what’s the difference?
@topaz blaze P12 is a newer design and pressure optimised if putting on rads.
im using them as case fans
and i was going to do the f12 since they have good airflow but people say there loud
@low pumice
so would you do p12 or f12 for case fans in a meshify c @low pumice
P12
Are there any high quality rgb case fans that is good airflow and quiet? People recommend me the corsair QL120 but would like some recommendations.
hey guys, I tried updating my h100i platinum's firmware and it's running at 100% fans right now and iCUE update is taking forever but says something like Ensure your device is plugged directly into your system and not through a USB HUB or dock.... did I just brick the damn thing? was thinking that if I did, it wouldn't show up under Settings in iCUE
is it normal when I run a CPU render to have liquid temps of like sub 30c but cpu temps of over 60c (closed loop aio) r7 3700x
@long crow does it say to restart the app anywhere
nothing, even right clicking the icue on the notifs area doesn't even allow me to close icue
I'm just worried since it's been more than 20 minutes now like this, no progress or anything
alt f4 maybe
I'm scared I might actually brick it if I force close iCUE
but I just did, and it can still see the h100i when I open it up, so that's good
I can't see anything out of place
even emulates the lighting
it just doesn't show in the AIO itself
click on the picture it should show performance tab and you can change fan speeds/ pump
Reason: Bad word usage
i dont know then good luck
whats the best cpu cooler for the cost preferably aiming close to 100 but it can be higher
@open sorrel for pure performance or overall
@open sorrel what cpu do you have and what’re you doing with it
A good air cooler for 60-80$ will do you more than enough 90% of the time
Good LL120 alternatives?
@open sorrel welp, Arctic freezer ii 240mm/280mm at ~105usd for pure performance, NH-U12a at ~99usd for Noctua goodness overall
Anyone know if Asiahorse will ever restock their 360mm fan units?
Can anyone recommend me a good cooler for 5800X that fits well in a P400?
Mobo is TUF X570 if that matters
what about water (dont worry im not going to be stupid with it)
Alright, I am planning on buying the 5600X, should I just use the wraith stealth, or go with an after market
Should I buy NZXT Kraken X72 360mm AIO for my 10950K?
you probably only need a 240
but I would recommend the nzxt aios
corsair and be quiet are also quite good
Anyone got any recommendations on a fan hub for these 3 pin rgb corsair fans i have, i bought the lighting node
@blazing basalt go with a Mugen 5 or Gammaxx 400
or Shadow rock 3
if you don't want stock
so no water so you hate water
Brawndo only
I dont like Liquid Cooling.
nh-d15 or dark rock pro 4?
cant seem to find a place that sells the noctua
Amazon
@flat fulcrum I'd get a NH-U12a
Amazon in a lot of regions carry it
Unless you're in Oceania it'll be easy to get
im in canada
Should be able to find it
isnt the nh-u12 a lower grade than the d15?
amazon and newegg dont have it and pcpartpicker has no website that has it
Nh-U12s is a pretty big step down, NH-U12a is basically a NH-D15
Gimme a sec I'll get looking
does it come in black?
Not yet
im trying to get an all black build
Should mention dat :p
yeah sorry
Hm
@flat fulcrum could jump the gun and get an Arctic freezer ii 240mm, need to check cad pricing tho
It's usually 100usd, basically same price as d15 and drp4
For a good bit better performance
do ya think Corsair A500 75 CFM CPU Cooler would be a good cooler for the CPU you suggested? @low pumice
O
I suggest a NH-U12a
looks funni but probably does great lol
a500 review for reference

Our review of Corsair's A500 CPU cooler looks at thermal and acoustic performance, noise-normalized performance, and the A500 vs. Noctua NH-D15 and other coolers.

@topaz blaze oh yea, Noctua is like THE company I go to for cooling products btw
Amazing products
great work
tru
bit on the expensive side tho, compared to more budget options
tru
NH-U12a linked here
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07PN4RDW3
@low pumice @toxic saddle well my cpu is a r7 2700x and i mostly play games and will probably do some editing im trying to get rgb in with the cooler
doesn't that come with a wraith prism?
cheaper rgb cooler is the gammax gt BK
Why does my laptop run at base clock when it is only at 63 degrees celcius. Is it really thermal throttling?
yeah but the wraith prism is loud@proven solstice
In intel xtu it doesn't say it is thermal throttling but why is it running at base clock?
inb4 arctic freezer II 360mm
im actually debating between this cooler and the nh-d15/drp4
i dont know if i want air cooling or watercooling
asking in a different chat does not change the yes i gave you @main kestrel :)
that was from earlier.
before u answered.
fair :)
@flat fulcrum Freezer ii is a great AIO for the price.
Price is the main downside of many AIOs
yeah I know but (i dont wanna sound like a princess) but i also want good aesthetics
something like this
Freezer ii does look decently clean
yeah it does but i cant seem to find it in canada at a decent price
150 cad plus 20$ shipping
on amazon
and 170 cad plus 10$ shipping on newegg
Yeah I’m running push pull which was difficult to do in a P300a case. That sort of helped with airflow at first but still hovering at 74°C GPU Temps with aggressive fan curves.
at 150 cad its more expensive than the drp4 or d15
Is a dark rock 4 alright for a 5900x? And would it benefit from the addition of a pull fan on the other side?
dark rock 4, or dark rock pro 4?
either way would be more than enough honestly
you could get by with something less if you aren't overclocking
Just the dark rock 4, not the pro. Knowing that they're both fine, ill probably stick with the pro lol
damn that cooler looks sexy
i prefer beefier single tower coolers rather than dual tower coolers myself
ok, i have a question
dual fan tower cooler (which i already have) or nice aio from corsair
someone who had dealt with both give me an answer
Air
depends on the cooler you have
but i would say if it does the job no need to get the aio
So I hear AIOs aren't as good as some tower coolers
But I have an aio
And might upgrade to another aio or a tower cooler
And why aren't aios as good as these other tower coolers?
Because theyre watercooled y'know?
But then again
Theyre mass manufactuted
And manufactured in a way to maximize profit and consumer delight
But mostly profit
aios will dissipate heat a bit faster but in some cases, aios will not outperform some air coolers
if you wanna go air cooler, the noctua fans or the bequiet dark rocks are pretty solid but if you wanna go for aio, get a 240mm or 280mm one
Is the dark rock pro 4 good?
my cpu temps a lot higher than what it should be with only one application open
its a prebuilt and i think the manufacturer rushed the thermal paste application
Will g skill trident z rgb be compatible with the dark rock pro 4?
got some alphacool coolmove 120mm pvm fans in my pc and there loud asf
so hopefully getting 3 silent wings 3 120mm pvm for intake for Christmas and have 3 noctuas 120mm nf-p12 for exhausts
Will gskill ripjaws V fit under the Dark Rock Pro 4
@quartz gale I don't see an actual ram clearance measurement listed
but it does have a cutout in the fins for extra clearance
i'm just not sure how tall it will allow
here we go
46.8
so figure out how tall the ram is and you will be good
hopefully
40 without moving second fan
163mm height without moving second fan
2mm height to move second fan usually in a case with say 165mm height
Would the 42mm tall Ripjaws V ram fit under it because rn it is only 70 at Newegg
if you want to avoid ram clearance issues all together you can go with Shadow Rock 3 or Scythe Mugen 5
NH-U12a
Would the Scythe Fuma 2 be good as well?
its good, but if you are worried about RAM clearance it has similar restrictions as DRP4
you'd have to look up the actual clearance measurements tho
oh wow
that one is asymmetric too
shouldn't need to worry about RAM clearance as long as you install it correctly
i am now shamed for not knowing this
that drawing is kind of the reverse from how you would install it
the offset should be towards the rear of the case
see how the heatpipes are angled instead of straight up?
I know that Harware Canucks did a video on it and they loved it and it performed really well
Best cooling for a 5950x chip?
Is a Noctua NH-D15 a standard for CPU cooling?
its overkill for most things
Hey guys, so I was looking at getting the phateks p500a (shown below) but I'm not sure on the proper fan config. I'm looking to buy a dark rock 4 (non pro) and 4 140mm silent wings 3 fans (3 intake, 1 exhaust). Would there be a benefit in populating the two top exhaust portions, or would that just take air away from the CPU cooler? Thanks!
How about 240mm aio but I install 2 120mm noctua fans?
Would that make a decent difference?
Doesn't it come with 3 stock fans?
it comes with 3 argb 140mm fans
you can buy a 3 pack of those same fans for $45
if you want it to match that is
there is a version that comes without the 3x140mm fans
$30 less
So would you guys reccomend the dark rock pro 4 for 70 usd if we are not worried about dimensions?(Is it a good value versus cooling performance)
Can someone help me? I'm trying to find an good AIO thats around maybe $100-$120 price range for the 5800x
@quartz gale yes
I don't know the most about AIO's, so take my advice with a grain of salt, but I hear the kraken x53 is pretty good @jade belfry
Arctic freezer II is the default recommendation around here
Ek is also a good choice
How many leds can a argb header handle on the tuf gaming x570 plus?
what are some white rgb case fans that arent stupid expensive like the LL-120's
i have the Kraken X73 on my 5950x, i'm about to go return it
why are you going to return it? ..simply asking because im in between cases and the z63/z73
it's running at 50c idle on my 5950x, 75c 80%+ load
it's seated correctly- it could be that 5950x just runs hot
forsure, what case are you running?
ik i was looking at NZXT cases like the 510 and 710 series and they both have bad cooling issues apparently
what you plotting Forks?
Added some quick disconnects to one of my waterblocks, makes it real easy to swap out
ah, so you are in maintenance mode :)
what are some good black or gray coolers for under 70 for a 5600x
any other options that you know of?
the U12S also from noctua, but currently, marked up by insane amounts
its 60-70 price wise
currently going for 120+
I was also thinking of scythe fuma 2
You could also just use the box cooler. It's black I think
I dont like the look of that cooler to much
the dark rock slim is also an option iirc
yeah I saw that deal but I believe that was a flash sale because the code that went with that no longer works otherwise I would go with it
You probably used the tr4 code, use EMCGGFG26
yep you are correct I did
I have seen that it does fit 44 and 45mm ram but do you know specifically if the Ripjaws V fits under the cooler
What board
probably the Aorus pro ac
Almost positive ripjaws v will fit
I have seen a bunch of posts saying that it does I just want to make sure again
they should
honestly another plus of the DRP4 is the screwdriver
is it magnetic?
true
I think it has been like that for a while but that cooler is better
then you can add like rgb fans
Freezer ii 240mm went out of stock very recently
It was in stock when I was reccomending it like a day ago
Hows the Freezer 420?
probably same as freezer 360 just with 140mm fans
not much to gain past 280/360 on a single component. Would need to be cooling both CPU and GPU to see decent temp differences on the truly upper end rad size
Plus would need 420mm aio space in your case which is not common for mid towers iirc
Can you use a alcohol wipe to clean thermal paste
yes
H100i cappelix better then the kraken x53?
