Enermax is known for clogged aios
Msi, theyre mediocre. The v1 core liquid was known for pump failure
EK, been passing those thinking generic. Brb
V2 fixed it
Not aware, galahad is definitely
Back. Trying to find a good portable NVME enclosure with fan. I purchased one two months back, and fan already died. Most just rely on heat sinks and as hot as I have seen the NVME get at times, I can't see that being good as these small cases don't seem to have a quick way to dissipate heat build up.
Lian Li SL120 v2 or Corsair ML120 RGB Elite
between both? lian li
both are horribly priced tho
but at least lian li are easier to setup and are prettier
Okay outside of those what would you pick for good looks amazing software control and good functionality
p12s, if you want rgb then the argb version of the p12s
for rgb software you should use openrgb to control all your rgb
synapse or icue or any other brand named rgb software most of the time is just bloatware
Ehh
Does have nice control though
If you have a full corsair rig
I do have a lian li case tho
Usually you'll want a curve set in bios so when it's idle they run minimum speed and when it's higher temp they run faster. Besides that it's a personal choice, balancing between noise and temps.
I don't even bother with the fan control software, it's simpler in bios
oh oksuy
would u help me in bios
^^
Sometimes cant change default hysteresis or wait time for fan curve tho. Can make fans be sensitive to temp spikes. Tho I find one usually only needs it for custom loop stuff, cuz need to change fans based on CPU/GPU temp.
I guess I'm spoiled by MSI then since I can change those things
What thermal paste do you guys recommend? For I9-13900K.
Best budget paste would be Arctic MX-4, top quality ones would get you 2-4 degrees better and include MX-6, NT-H2, KPX, and Kryonaut (non-extreme)
I have NT-H2 in the bucket currently.
Ehhhh I'm not convinced on that one still
Guess I will use that.
Nt-H2 is really good
Yep that's an older model but still excellent
That was the one I got to 430W on the 13900K with
I decided on the MSI z690 Carbon WiFi board.
Seems to have all my needs and not to over the top in expense.
How about pro z690-a
Does the carbon have a bios switch?
You need a bios switch
Alright I'll try to put it in my roster of recommendations then
Ok good
Would still recommend pro-A
But at least you'll have it working with carbon
Just stick to 2 sticks of ddr5 whatever you do on that board
Carbon has a few more features they might actually use too
DDR5 signal integrity in general sucks with 4 sticks
I plan to only use 2 dimms with this board.
It does but it's a lot more usable on z790 for 4 dimmers
Maybe come 14tj gen I might use 4 sticks.
Ddr5 should be 1dpc in general
"Usable" meaning you can actually use jedec on it finally?
Ye it supposedly works
The pro board's price is tempting but I very much dislike the aesthetics.
It's still comparably terrible but nothing like before
It was really quite pathetic with Z690 4x memory, so many boards couldn't even boot with default settings and would be stuck in a training loop

Would there be any issues in sticking my current M.2 drives into the new Mobo/system?
On a gigabyte no less
Also if I stop msging in a moment it's because I am out of power.
Not really but if you didn't have a 12900K on your last fresh install of windows then you'll want a brand new install
So I will need to reinstall windows.
If the only thing you're changing is the CPU then you can use the current install and just update the chipset drivers
If you're changing more than that a reinstall is highly recommended
My current system is using a I7-10700.
Then yes you'll definitely want to reinstall, it's a totally different platform
Hey friends long time no see
is anyone in here a cooling expert by any chance
i have some super weird thermal issues
Expert and discord don't go together but I'm willing to help
I was wondering, have yall had experience with fan speed just NOT helping the CPU temps
lolol true
ive had bad thermals since my new build tbh and ive just dealth with it for a year
and its about time i fix it bc i throttle my fps
and im getting 4090 strix asap
Please don't buy the strix
and im worried ill burn the dang house down
It's a waste of $200
The suprim x beats it for 200 less
No I'm serious the suprim is better in every department
Suprim or msrp
Suprim wins in thermals and power layout
Strix doesn't even have that going for it this gen
trust me man i fully believe you
its crazy that i want it
but i do
lol
my entire build is ROG
Ehhh get tuf at msrp if you wanna simp
Anyway, tell me your throttling issue
What's your specs, what's your cooler
gotcha
Corsair h150i elite LCD
5950x
Crosshair VIII Extreme
3090 Strix
128gb 3600mhz cas 16 trident z elites
tons of ssds and hdds
And heres the thing i JUST replaced all my fans yesterday so thats where everything is weird to me
bc it ... kinda helped?
Replaced fans to what from what
I stopped capping my FPS in apex and its... better. but still sometimes hitting 90 and mid 80s however thats the weird part.... sometimes its very manageable.
but randomly the temp spikes, when im not doing anything different
and even when i close everything it either doesnt cool down or takes a while to
^
and when i change the fans speeds to go higher, that doesnt make a difference
sorry
Also do something like a load test for me and tell me the frequency it drops to
Corsair QL 120s were on my rad and a QL 140 in the back
and the stock ROG strix fans that come in the helios casee
And what are on them now?
I replaced with 3 noctuas, and all Lian li's
Ah that's why
the new infinitys and a 140
QL's suck
thats what you'd think right
Infinity's are marginally better but noctuas are usually better
i just didnt care to replace before
but i replaced now and like... YEAH its better but...
the stuff i mentioned to you before is the weird parts
Ok so what I want you to do is 2 things
- Answer a question: any cpu oc?
- Do any load test and tell me what all core frequency it's doing
Ive been battling this random issue on and off for a year
It sounds like a bad mount to me
I was OC my CPU a while ago like a year ago to run faster ram but then i stopped
But I need a load test to know
You can enable pbo if you like
going to bios now
Pbo just unlocks power really (better frequency as a result but also not really)
So it'll help if you wanted to enable it
How does one do that
Go to your cpu settings or 'AMD Overclocking'
Okay so before
Look for "precision boost overdrive"
And enable
Not manual
Not auto
Enable
Anything else? Default
I was overclocking the SOC. Just made sure it wasnt still overclocked, and it wasnt
Bet
Like this sir?
Was a lil confused on what else@to@change all i changed so far was the top thing
To enabled haha
Turn off fmax enhancer
Then precision boost overdrive enabled
Scalar leave auto or 1x
Max cpu throttle limit will auto to 90, or put 90 to be sure
You don't want it over 95C
Leave clock override to auto
And then you're good
Bet
F10 and save
PBO allows the CPU to use more power as long as there's thermal headroom up to the limit, which allows the clock speed to stay higher for longer
Lol
Gotcha thank you man! Also hi!
As long as your boot drive is an SSD that isn't full you're good
Speaking of SSD I need to check on my order...
Just booted
lol I'm definitely still around, no plans to leave any time soon
1TB MP33 plus a free SD card for $51
Oooooh it's at my post office, should be delivered tomorrow
Are you swapping drives for you os?
Ok lemme know what the cpu frequency is
What cpu frequency, during the test
Will tell me what's wrong
What I'm doing is upgrading my old reliable 256GB SSD (that still reports 100% health 5 years later) and giving the old one to my brother in law
I see i see nice
Whats ur main build looking like these days?
Temps look good, low 80s is normal for that chip
Is it normal when playing games?
Link is in my profile
That looks perfectly fine
But thats what i got going rn
Nice
Cinebench isn't the worst load test but those temps are normal
What it may have been is fmax enhancer
Fmax pushes more amperage through for max frequency
Yeah that probably bumped the voltage
Fmax helps but it's also bleeding edge perf
I just thought u said to put that on
Ah ok
Lemme find a message i posted
You shouldn't see it spiking beyond sanity temps now
If you do, that's because you're pushing the cpu really hard
Cinebench is AVX but it's light AVX
^
You could do prime 95 if you wanted to be certain of temps but those look fine imo
Yeah
If you mean more than like a degree or two
Is that a common thing
Then yes in this case
What it is
Is AMD has a much thicker IHS
So it'll spike
Often equally as high
Then take a looonnnggg time to come down
Its odd that it gets so hot in games
But i mean it makes sense
Gpu pusbing hot air or whatever
The IHS on ryzen is a bottleneck
Especially that 2x8 core design, with the hotspot off center
Aaaaa
Ryzen 7000 is even worse with this
That im@stubborn about fixing
The ROG case? It's not too bad at least
Ok well
Yes
Run prime 95 then
If prime 95 you stay under 90C with small ftt's
This big glass panel HAHA
Then you're fine
Like
Ya the glass doesn't help at all
Is it OKAY to have my cpu running so high
p95 WILL hit your max temp it's more a matter of how long it takes to get there
I just dont get what changes sometjmes
I'd reasonably expect 3.8 all core small ftt's prime 95 with your setup
It's designed to run at the rated temp of 95C 24/7 for the duration of the warranty
And that's still fine
Bc really i was playing apex right and it was awesome hitting like only 70c. Then randomly boom im at like 88 degrees and im@like what- nothing changed it just teleported
And doesnt cool down lol
Even with fans blasting
That's ryzen all right lol
So i was wondering if i should reapply paste again, remount, etc
Just so weird ya know what i mean
Weird to see
When im looking at it from a logical standpoint without too much inside knowledge
But yeah, looks normal to me
Gotcha
Ryzen just runs hot af
Really now?
THAT
Is interesting knowledge
My friend insists intel is supposed to run way hotter is that true
I always thought ryzen was the hotter one
It's allowed to run hotter, modern ones are capped at 100 or 105C
So it runs much hotter if it wants to
Test completed now im idling at 53 nice.
My usual idle was
Like
65-75
Before new fans
These fans are sooo cool man haha
What's funny is the 5800X runs hotter than the 5950X because there's more power per core in a denser area
Corsair fans never did me favors
Actually
Corsair as a whole
Im not a fan of personally
intersting
But that's really it
true
Everything else is a hard pass
Corsair has had a very long time in the psu business
it takes power from 12v rail and converts for 5v use

That sounds like an inverter
it came out earlier this year and thats how i run my lighting without blowing up my house
LOL
lemme show yall the whole thing rq
Ah yeah one of the RGB adapters
i have like 1200 lights im gross ik
and i will buy a strix 4090
ik
im a failure
a disgrace to the community
lol
I just used my USB 2.0 header with an adapter for argb on my old board
Well you'll win the asus fans over
There is a non-insignificant number of those fans too
obv i can control the stuff in signal
all these are run through the argb headers its nuts lol
only usb for the cooler
thats actually pretty smart
never thought of that myself
The Addressable RGB LED Controlleris a compact size Addressable RGB LED controller that allows you to easily customize your ARGB devices without the need for either an ARGB capable motherboard or software. coolermaster is a company i like a lot acvtually
They have some pretty cool stuff, including things no other brand does
They unironically just make something good once and never look back
so underrated man
legitimately one of the best cases ever at a good price
my opinion tho
yall play apex?
I'm not really into shooters personally
what do you do?
I also fix things :)
So ending consensus is- you guys think im good running at like near 90 sometimes?
specifically when playing game
That's fine yeah, as long as it's not dropping clocks too hard
okay gotcha
It just sounds like ryzen bein ryzen to me
also i have 2 questions im 99% sure youll know
thought so
Yep especially the 8 core CCD ones
Also btw, before you ask
5950X, 4090 at 4K I hope
1440p you'll be hard bottlenecked
By the cpu
4090 you want 13600K at the minimum
Or 5800x3d
/12900K
yes yes
Ok good
im running 4k
but tbh i dont have a good pc for games, im a filmmaker/designer/animator
and i have a cam shooting 8k raw
Makes sense
yes yes
thank you for everything
question is : Why is ddr5 latency HIGHER than ddr4?
Proper use of that hardware then
Still worth a check cos you mentioned apex
1 main reason, architecture is different
But latency isn't truly slower, let me explain rq
DDR5 implements a lot of changes that make the primary timings almost useless also
With ddr5, what you have is they changed the single channel bit bus to dual channel, so the data rate exchange is much cleaner
Number 1
Number 2
Where it counts for this
They made the burst length twice as long
So in one sequence, ddr5 reads twice as much in one burst over ddr4
oh totally. I higher appreciate absolutely all info you guys give me a lot so thank you tons.
Leading to higher densities
Counting with felix?
reading this stuff now
By doubling the burst length, you double the latency
But it's still reading as fast or faster
Now, this results in some net positives versus net negatives
It depends on cache and ram usage per game
Some games like ddr4 more as it doesn't rely or stress the ram as much and is more intensive (think, cs:go)
Others love ddr5 and leverage it's higher capabilities and better bandwidth capacity because of the heavier ram need (think: new Spiderman)
All that boils down to this: You cannot compare basic specs of different generations of architecture in general, in any PC component. More than just the basic specs change generationally.
Pretty much
A 2080 ti at 2800MHz isn't the same as a 4080 at 2800MHz
But ddr5 is ultimately better, relying on just the latency is a fallacy of one's own undoing as by nature it won't be as good on that front (but not for long)
Soon ddr5 will match ddr4 latency
8000+ I believe is where the line blurs there
Not too sure on this but ik that more cache doesn't make a difference for csgo although csgo does love faster ram at least on ddr4 I'd assume the same on ddr5 too
But again, latency is just one of many basic specs that don't weigh out the full perf
You're right, but when it does want ram, it likes lower latency
This is a fun one to listen to if you want to jump into the rabbit hole for latency https://youtu.be/pgb8N23tsfA

...
Cas latency yeah is another part of the ram world that means even less than actual measured rough latency
Cas latency means jack versus most of any other ram timing
gotcha.
So using that to measure actual latency using some of those net calculators is useless
Easy example, b die 3600 16-16-16 has better overall latency than a hynix 3600 16-19-19 kit
A calculator wouldn't tell you that tho
And again, latency is pretty meaningless in the scale of every timing a ram has at it's disposal
That youtube channel is good for learning a lot of this stuff
If you want to brush up on what ram really is he's a fantastic source
sounds awesome looking at this rn
so is ddr5 like
a MASSIVE leap from ddr4 or
not so much
TL:DW Most things don't care about latency, even the tightest of the tight timings actually scores lower in AIDA64
As far as what changes it's a big jump
You get much higher frequencies which lead to bigger read gains and soon similar latencies
It's a pretty huge jump but it's not something that we can fully utilize yet
For some workloads this is enormous
For stuff like, I think compression decompression?
Ddr5 is already enormously better
It's like a night and day difference since the primary metric, bandwidth, went way up
i see
so overtime the latency numbers are expected to drop?
thats exactly what i need
Yes as speeds get better, again, don't rely on latency as the only metric
the most important thing for me is the GB
While latency would then be similar it's now double the bandwidth
which is why i dont have ddr5 i was thinking of skipping this CPU gen
So twice as fast outright
DDR5 can double the density of DDR4
As a result of double the burst length iirc
Maybe die shrink and I'm actually wrong lol
Essentially yes
Yes and no
I just heard it wasnt stable enough to run 128
More GB per chip on the stick
Not yet
64GB is the hard limit so far, mostly due to IMC issues so CPUs need to catch up
True, when i get my 13600 i might do some testing for different timings if i remember but only ddr4 ofc
So when you start tuning for DDR5 remember everything you know about DDR4 and then yeet it out of your brain
Literally every aspect of overclocking memory has changed
yessss
okay so the stuff i heard was accurate
sweet lol
in that case im holding off on this CPU gen
in hopes the next one can handle 128gb
since, for what i do at least, thats my biggest tool that i need
just a lottt
of ram
I'm also holding off on platform upgrading for a bit. My personal rule is simple, never buy the first model on a new platform.
I see they already made a new version of my mobo for the new chips, i didnt think that would come out so soon.
stupidly expensive tho
yeah thats a
great personal rule haha
Applies to cars too
im one that likes to test out new tech and suffer dealing with the problems
ugh
SPECIFICALLY
with my car
never had more problems with "new tech" than my dang car lol
Ez just join 13th gen
I don't like to buy into a dead platform either
It feels like the universe just wants me to suffer tho, i dont think ive ever bought new technology that worked how it was supposed to
So just never buy intel kekw?
Ryzen 8000 when
Sounds american ngl
Secret? lol it's never been secret I literally have never owned an Intel CPU except when building for others
lolololol
Hey now my GM car's leaks give it character
I think the only american brand I could just blankly give a pass is a ford
I have a ford as welll
And even then
You're modding it?
So you had the joy of the fx cpus as well then

Found On Road Dead? Fix Or Repair Daily?
Depends on what you consider modded
its an electric car so not many "mods" to do to the exhaust or engine
Yes the joy of the class action lawsuit and all
but ive done a tons of aesthetic mods
I've never heard the first but I've deff head fix or repair daily
I still have my 8300
Ahhhh Ford electric
Yes I forgot these
i love the mach e actuyally
no no my ford isnt electric
i have a second car
ford edge
thing is a beast
my electric one is tezzzzla
I feel like Ford is intentionally making bad electrics to hold back the industry but that's just me I think
Random bumpers falling off? Tesla
I don't hate tesla
kekekek
I'm just conscious of reliability
they are reliable USUALLY
I don't hate Tesla cars, I hate Tesla company
ive had problems with mine again cuz i bought a brand new remake
remodel
when it was brand new
and bc i just got unlucky
fair tbh
Im a classic tesla fan
Tesla's also have the awful problem of replacing the batteries every 6 years
but i dont doubt the problems
I like having some degree of control over my car and Tesla just laughs and disables your fast charge for no reason
That's just a normal thing for electric cars also you don't need to you can just live with not as good performance as before
Ofc but it's the value of a new car
(Dealer discovers aftermarket side skirts) "Well we got another one to gimp"
Where did you hear ab that
That's the price you offset for paying fuel, economically it's inequitable
Tesla doesn't even get that close considering the prius
am i allowed to send links in here of personal content?
Yeah 28 grand doesn't sound right tbh, on our leaf i think we where quoted something like 8k to replace a battery tho or something redicolous
Personally I heard it from Rich Rebuilds on Youtube where he dealt with the issue several times
See? And then tesla gets the gross premium price
I'm all for Tesla
Don't get me wrong
Indeed
You cannot repair a salvage title tesla, they simply don't allow it. And if you do they auto disable a bunch of features, especially fast charging.
I'm not paying 80K USD then paying the price of a new car 6 years later when a 30K sedan can do just as well and I donate to initiatives instead
Still tho 8k when like we bought the car in 2017 they said we could replace cells only or something and whole thing would be like 5k i think
But yeah 28k is redicolous
Tesla troubles got you feeling broke? Need to save money? Head over to Policygenius to start comparing quotes and simplify the whole insurance-buying process : https://policygenius.com/RICHREBUILDS
Yet again we show you how we at the electrified garage can repair a Tesla Fault for a quarter of the cost of a Tesla Quote
Hoovies Garage: htt...
It might be 28K AUD
Ok nvm it was usd
LOL
One guy blew his tesla up over it
He bought it second hand for like 50K, found out about the batteries
Blew it up with c4

OK OK HEAR ME OUT...
thats the oldest model s with the old poopy batteries
the newer ones are rated to last longer and have way better range
that being said yes the batteries are a problem
Fair, but they still will charge that replacement rate eventually
there are new cells that are coming out those in the 3 and Y
And that makes them ewaste
This is the highest charge the car in the vid could do
49 miles??
thats weird haha
I would buy an eclipse cross EV
The reason Tesla wanted so much to replace the battery was the connector to the battery was damaged by a rock hitting the undercarriage
It's a hybrid that gets 1.1 L/100KM
Agh makes sense
And it uses a standard wall plug
So of course they need to rip the entire car apart to replace a single connector
The batteries are also cheap
So it won't be gross to maintain
So it makes economical sense
Trust me you don't wanna use a wall charger unless it's as a last resort
But I like charging at 12 miles per hour
Plug is just a nice to have
That's a dual outlet plug that can do 11-12
Ahh
Again, doesn't need the plug, it's a hybrid
This isn't a leaf or model s
Sir, this is a Wendy's

Hybrids are banned for sale in my state as of 2025 tho
any1 know/
Any gas powered car
Yeye i getcha just saying you don't really wanna use a walk charger even on a hybrid, fast chargers in homes will become normal anyway and wat more convenient
Meanwhile the rest of the world slowly making economic sense of electric
So Fal is californian?

You can if you want but if it's something like your personal youtube channel it goes in #links-and-selfpromotion
okay i just wanna show u guys since were on the topic and he asked ab mods
no need to click but ill hide the thumbnail
Can't wait for the day when petrol stations are rare and all you can find is an electric charger
Lolol
So the exact opposite of now?
Yes
Damn, all those trucks without a station huh
i dropped the link in there!
Feels like the country would stop rq
Because it's just a fact petrol places will eventually either go bankrupt or go to electric eventually
They're making electric rigs too, they can load them up with HUGE batteries since size isn't an issue
Sure, but range is still a huge problem
It's not better range just equivalent capacity for need
Not any more of a problem than it is now
Remember, an electric rig needs to use more power to cruise over an ICE
Far more power
oh nah i didnt think so haha
so many people hate teslas with all their heart bro
people with real criticisms are no issue
New high end electrics are now out ranging combustion cars though
What
Is that a wrap on the car @unreal saffron , looks pretty sweet
I haven't seen any full electric pass 500km yet
My car does over double that
(yes I've actually measured 1030km)
You haven't? Pretty sure one of the new teslas does 500miles or something
Than some
And 500km is in prime conditions
For example, in 2021, the median gas car range (on one full tank) in the U.S. was around 413 miles (664 km)
yes it is and it was a pain in the BUTT to get it that way
Those estimates aren't actually real numbers tho
thank you man haaha
Irl you get much lower than real estimates cos there's no idle on a highway
You get that mileage in a dense city area
Like, bumper to bumper traffic is where an electric shines
You'll get more than that in a city
Those numbers are usually an avg
Idk, I'm always a skeptic
yeee
That lucid is insane really, almost 1k hrspr
Every new ev review I hear about the mileage is gross on a highway
Like that new raptor
it is
I can tell you i have experience driving them, it highly depends on the speed you're going
lucid still doesnt beat the plaid muahaha
but their top end one is supposed to match it
but thats all
Before it's cited, with the extended battery pack btw
fake numbers until launch
120kmph eats battery, 90kmph is like half the battery usage
The plaid+ is 1020 hrspr so only a little more
@unreal saffron tesla looks nice btw
yee
the acceleration can be different
the lucid air at least is pretty far behind in accel
which is the fun part
but it has a really cool motorized screen
so sick
If only the plaid+ was going to out
Thanks man i worked really hard on it haha
whats that mean :o
It was announced june 2021
Half the usage from 90/400 is like, 180/400
It's still not better
I wanna believe you man
wait your actually talking plaid+
But the stuff I read tells a way different story
not just plaid with a typo
that got cancelled, i completely forgot about plaid+
Ah, it was indeed canceled
This is the strongest lucid
its completely made up lol they havent done any of those numbers yet
I wasn't imagining things so
yeah
Someone apparently never had to drive across 4 states before
yes i rmr that
when he said that
plaids also dont have the new cells
they werent ready yet
but its great range, i have the 21" and i still get 350 miles, usually closed to 300 cuz i floor it or its cold out
Another fun Tesla issue https://youtu.be/87poTGAasbE

What I really can't wait for is nuclear diamond batteries to replace lithium
We're pretty close, they've passed initial testing and prototyping
Self charge? I haven't heard anything about these ones
Sounds like they fix the battery problem
I'm interested
The science behind them sounds like it's straight out of a sci fi I swear

Batteries! The invention that powers most of the modern world! Many electronics you
enjoy using won't work without them. These include your phone, laptop, tablet, and the
electric car in your garage! Some satellites also use batteries out there in orbit!
However, these batteries have limitations that affect...
heard about those
actually insane
i just saw my cpu temp below 50
😍
Thanks guys
So here's a quick rundown, scientists discovered diamonds generate electricity when exposed to certain radiation, like that from decaying nuclear waste. So they said, why not pack that into a battery cell? It'll charge itself and never have to be replaced because of the half-life on nuclear waste. And they generate less radiation than your cell phone.
lol
Interesting, how quick do they say they can self charge?
verrry cool
less radiation than phone is interesting
That's actually fascinating
I mean we've long known carbon carries conductivity properties
So it's cool to see diamond now demonstrating those properties
Oooo they use nuclear waste???
Plus it'll make some of that nuclear waste actually useful
It sounds like a magic bullet solution to so many problems straight out of a sci fi
It self charges enough that small IoT devices like your smart watch will never need to be charged, ever
Imagine charging your smartphone once a month
Was that thing you guys had me do supposed to help with temperature
directly
bc it seems pretty nice rn
It can in some circumstances
gotcha
More like it's removing certain limiters
thought so
interested, you have any personal tips on getting a gpu that has no dang stock anywhere
been hunting since launch
Look in stores, not online if you're looking for 40 series
Bots still rule the online sales
its insane
I try buying off people ususally for hard to find stuff
or bestbuy drops
newegg is botted to death man
most of the time you wont even see add to cart lol
Funny thing is the only people that seem to be buying 4080s are the ones running the bots since if you go to a microcenter they have full shelves of them
I heard some stores ended launch day with more stock than they started with
so lame why are they making so many of those but no 4090s
it just doesnt make any sense lol
They rushed it to market because they're threatened by AMD
Full charge in 12 minutes with a battery the size of an iPhone's. I'm starting to get Fallout vibes.
Nvidia is competing directly with AMD in every tier for the first time ever so you can't really blame them for feeling the pressure
Another thing to add to that, they'll be similar in price to current batteries since nuclear plants might pay NDB to remove their waste, offsetting costs
i see i see
yo wait i may have a stupid question
isnt nuclear power just like insanely OP
like whats the downside
why isnt everything nuclear
Yes nuclear power has enormous potential but the issue has been harnessing it safely
is that the only problem
cuz ik like one wrong move and you get major issues
but i also know its easyt
Current reactors use highly volatile elements and break them down in fission, releasing massive amounts of heat and other energy, as well as radiation and waste byproducts.
The waste materials are a huge issue for nuclear energy, storing it safely where it won't contaminate the surrounding environment.
I'm a network engineer running a small team
I see i see.
but its by far the most power humans have access to yes
so cool
and also so cool
I'm a bit mindblown ngl
That fixes the battery problem
Even if it costs thousands
My phone will last until it actually runs like crap, not the battery going bad
Cars will last and be feasible and lower carbon footprint
What's new about the NDB is that it utilizes the waste byproduct's natural shedding of radiation and stores it safely, converting that radiation directly into power the same way a solar panel can.
NDB and using nuclear waste is the coolest part imo
A horrible byproduct now suddenly a commercial luxury
Insane
Yes nuclear power is the strongest energy source in the universe that we know of, besides potential matter/antimatter reactions
It's literally the same energy the sun produces on a smaller scale
For all reasonable sense it's enough power by logic
Well never see the end of it truly
I'm getting strong Fallout vibes from this now, nuclear batteries for everything
Even they never imagined the self charging part though
Nuclear batteries are very similar
But not on this scale
Well this was by far the coolest thing I learned today
And I got to see a PC the size of my pinky (series S chip)
Did you catch this part btw felix
Yes
I'm mindblown rn
This will make nuclear the cleanest energy
Nuclear is incredibly efficient and clean rn, but this makes it even better
It's already the cleanest energy by most metrics, this will just make it better
Yeah exactly lol
Haha we're echoing again
This "multi-hundred Watt" thermoelectric generator from the Voyager spacecraft
Is being replaced by a battery this size
thank you
very interesting stuf
i just watched interstellar so my underlying love for science is peaked tonight
lol
Ooh fun
Also guys i think i actually just figured out some of the problem
it seems obvious, but other testing just made it seem not likely
I think my temps get so hot sometimes just cuz my room is actually that hot
from my pc
i didnt think it was possible that was the case lol
Ambient temp will have an impact on your case temps yeah
im not a dummy ik that makes me sound dumb obv that was like one of the first things i considered but
some tests said otherwise
like before my new fans, even if i made my room hella cold the CPU still was hot
but with new fans it seems im noticing a pattern .

AC unit off = above 80
this is insane
Ooh I just got some potential numbers on car battery charging. 300 miles in 10 minutes. Apparently larger batteries charge faster.
So yeah move over lithium
Small electronics batteries will hit the market expected Q3 next year with larger ones like car batteries within a few years.
A smart watch with the battery has already been announced
impressive
idk tesla numbers exactly but its already pretty quick
Fairly comparable to an average gas station stop right?
bigger the battery, the faster you will gain %
just bc of the nature of batteries
ya know
charging from 0-50% can take you 10 minutes, but 50-100% will take 30mins
That's more the nature of lithium batteries
precisely were almost there.
indeed the diamond ones will not be like this right?
Exactly
that would be actually revolutionary.
The reason charging slows down in lithium batteries is twofold: It takes longer to cram electrons into a crowded space, and the life span of the battery is reduced if you charge it quickly and/or fully.
Modern electronics know this, like my phone tells you when you first turn it on that it recommends you stay between 20 and 80%
And if you plug it in at night it goes into slow charge mode for extended life span over the normal charge modes
Li-on batteries also REALLY hate being hot and if they're dropping the NDB ones into volcanoes I'm guessing that's not the case there
Tesla supercharger claims 200 miles in 15 minutes
yeah that sounds about right
never need to spend more than 30 mins at a charger
but usually i just charge at home
it costs $20 max at home to charge 0-100, which is 350 miles for mine
pretty cheap imo
yes i see
tesla specifically yells at you to never charge to 100
as it decreases lifespan leaving the battery charged all the way
That's not bad at all, costs me at least $40-50 in gas to get that far
dang pretty good then
and cold
thats a big gripe with e cars
far worse during winter, tho the newwer ones have better heating technolofy
I seriously misjudged this, it's a lot higher. I get ~21 mpg highway and 17 combined, so 350 miles/21 mpg = 16.6 gallons of gas, at $4 per gallon = ~$67
Too bad I live in an apartment and there's no electric charging near me
It was almost $6 a couple months ago
yiiiiiikes
Damn, price death
about the same price as eu countries before prices shot up
that is ridiculous
Nah yall just used to it super cheap somehow
Honestly this
It's more in cali than it is here but not by much more
America on average pays less than a lot of other countries
It's called Texas Tea here for a reason
Never heard that saying lol
It's not so common nowadays but Texas has huge oilfields
It's domestically sourced so it's cheaper
Alaska has a lot of oil too
Ahh so that's why america wants it
Nah we just got lucky, Russia gave it to us and we found the oil later
Here in Australia, it's 17.2 gallons to fill my car or 65 litres, at 195.9 cents (I'll be somewhat fair), it's $127 aud or 86 usd
Went and did quick maff

But 65 litres gets me to 1030km by highway
So I'm quite a bit more economical
That's about double what I get mileage-wise
Yeah pretty much
So by fill up I'll do less but last longer
So long term you're probably paying more tbh

If I was driving a diesel tho I'd be net worse rn
No I'm in Cali, Texas Tea is just an old name for oil
Reason: Bad word usage
OOPs
my bad **
I thought u were the other guy for a second
im going to texas tomorrow so i was jw HAHA
gotchu tho
you guys know things about cameras?
Just the basics
I have a lot of photoshop experience tho
i see i see
ya know i was asking bc
you guys have such an abundance of knowledge and i really admire that
i think its so cool cuz thats wht i aim to be ya know i love learning stuff
i was like.. is there ANYTHING i knw a lot about thatthese guysdont
LOL
I've got pretty broad knowledge but it's kind of "jack of all trades, master of few"
I know enough to help with the most common problems people have in just about anything
lol
theres too many awesome and interesting things in the world!
to only focus on one ya know
Speaking of cars I need to run out and pop off my radiator cap, I've got mostly water in my car because I had a coolant leak and it's below freezing tonight
Yeah it'd never get this cold in LA lol
