#cases-psu-and-cooling
1 messages Β· Page 57 of 1
i would definitely upgrade. What psu do you have? Thermaltake Smart? EVGA W1?
anyone got any experience with a 140mm psu in a nr200 yet? got a great deal on a seasonic ssr-750fx but not sure how bad the bit longer length might hurt me
GN likes it
helppp
i have this but i got no clue where to plug it in
case fans spin but dont have a spot for it
what box did it come out of
td 500 mesh
i think you use that to power the rgb hub
the thick connector connects to a sata cable coming from the psu and the other end connects to the hub to give it power
but you prolly won't need it if you connected the hub to the mobo iirc
@rain aurora thx
Look at the standard H500. That one is good too but REALLY EXPENSIVE
Have no clue what case to get and psu for roughly a Ryzen 9 5900x. Iβd ideally want a case to fit a 3080 or 3090 and an atx motherboard so likely a mid tower with some rgb.
Phanteks 0500, loan li lancoool2mesh, cooler master td500, be quiet 500dx, are the typical recommendations here
Obviously depends on budget
those are some nice options
someone here has a td500 and he says that it looks nice
with a thicc 3080 too
quick question, have 700w power supply, have a 1050ti in MB, everything works fine... i plug in 3060ti, and nothing powers on... put back the 1050ti back in, it works again... just trying to get a few ideas what maybe issue... and the PS is a bit over 8 years old... (probably going to try a new one soon) just thought i'd ask another area
if all the cables are plugged in right and your components work fine with the 1050ti there is no reason it shouldn't work
the 1050ti doesn't need cables to plug in, it gets it's power from MB
700W is also enough for 3060ti (unless your cpu and other hardware draws a lot of power)
hmm ?
i7 9700k
and did you plug in the right cables for the 3060ti then ?
yeah the PCIe into the adapter the 3060ti FE came with
when I hit the power, it looks like the power plug was out and it was discharging like it does when I do unplug the plug to PS
so the 8 pin gpu cable is in right ?
had some information in the graphics section.. just thought i'd ask here too....
best of luck though π
thanks.. the GPU is staring at me now lol
I appreciate it
Iβm pretty uh π rn I had gotten a super flower 750 and like days later after it arrived 850 goes on sale am I i fine with a 5800/5900 paired with a 3060/3070? Non OC btw
Youβll be peachy still some headroom for the max power draw and spikes of that system. I ran a 3060 ti and 3950x on 650W before.
what do you all think of the o11 mini?
small atx big itx
i dont get how the q300l can fit matx boards with alot of room with tons of airflow but the phanteks enthoo evolve itx has the same size and can only fit tix boards
i prefer the meshify c just because it looks better imo
yea probably go with that
meshify c gang
can you top mount a 240 AIO in the meshify C ?
^meshify c
cries in tempered glass front panel
Lol I was told I should get that instead
But I wanted the power of glow
have used the focus and define C, both really good
@pliant knot what do you think about the H510? i just picked one up for my new build
well it does look good in like an all-white theme
its an example of why to do research on pc building
don't get the coolest one that you see after looking at cases for 2 minutes
one nice thing about the h510 is that its so flat, its easy to vinyl wrap
I was thinking of case swapping my dell prebuilt. Any good intel mobo's, psu, and case? I have a i3-9100f with a gtx 1650
for a bit more the EVGA and Seasonic I hear are quality ones.. with 7-10 year warranty
EVGA, i've been using for their graphic cards for many years... so I know the brand does last long time for me.... probably going to get one of their PS to upgrade so i can use a new graphics card.. but not an EVGA card, I was lucky to get a FE π
Should I get an EVGA or Corsair or Seasonic PSU
Is there a big difference?
@ me if there is a response please and thank you
I also like EVGA 10 year warranty too...
Model not brand
Evga has some bomb psus
Same with corsair and seasonic
I like BQ cause nothing they sell is bad
Ah
BQ isnt great
ia a corsaiar cv 550 good?
@tall crow its ok for lower end systems
k
@tall crow what CPU + GPU you getting?
1660super and ryzen 3100
CV550 will work fine fo that
I need some help deciding between a fractal ion+ 860 platinum or Corsair rm850x psu. My 750W thermaltake isnβt able to support my 3600 and 3080 while streaming
Itβs been crashing a few minutes into the stream. Only in ff14 for some reason as well
I turned off my OCs and it was still happening
I have used a 3900x and 3080 on a TT psu successfully...
I would chose the corsair BTW
Okay thanks.
Yeah I think the psu was borderline. I was noticing audio static when I was using my onboard audio on the mobo
Got a dac and that fixed it so I was hoping I didnβt need a new psu for a while
is it a thermaltake smart?
Sometimes
thermaltake is 100% bomb psu
less than 0 trust for that trash
They used to be jankk
But now they are great quality and some have rgb
At least the toughpower series
bombs
Oh come on
I have successfully used my toughpower 750 watt gold for a while now
My only regret is the red 6pin connector
Honestly have had more luck with TT than seasonic
ew
I want a RMx 850w white so bad π’
I know! Part of me is wondering if newegg just doesn't get them anymore.
Did corsair run out at home? Did their factories stop producing them?
Are they now just an overpriced RGB fan company?
The world may never know!
lmao
No! You have to keep the illusion alive!
honestly, there was a method to reroll your number.
Santa exists again!
Haha! tbh, there's another person with name reggie<3#6969 and people mistakenly add me all the time.
I was thinking of changing it.
Must be a popular number... i wonder why
But yeah. I wouldn't be surprised though if for the white psus, corsair just stopped making them because of supply issues.
Well, they are probably making a lot of white 4000d s right now
imagine not getting a BQ psu
The only PSU brands I have built with are thermaltake BQ and seasonic
and 2 of them are good brands
Wow you really hate TT
thermaltake and seasonic!
ewwwww
tt psus have blown up 15+ systems that ive worked on
fans are meh, radiators are shite, psus are meh, cases are meh.
I like TT
plus their overall business is scummy as hell
Thermaltake doesn't get anymore chances to improve its marketing or basic design flaws. We've been trying to privately inform Thermaltake how to improve for years, but they haven't listened.
Sponsor: Buy Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut on Amazon (https://geni.us/1D8Eeq) or Hydronaut paste (https://geni.us/Fsray)
Thermaltake's latest virtual Comput...
They used to be VERY jank
Like 2000s TT is age defineing
people rave about the EK aio.
I prefer NZXT
honestly i just do air
Like, the #1 ek aio review doesn't even compare EK against NZXT, Corsair, or Cooler Master.
Yeah air is so much better
air just works
I'm switching from an h100i to an nh-u12s
Smart
dual fans of course.
deepcool air is very solid!
I only like the z63 kraken for its looks
Yeah, NZXT has the looks for an AIO. Their rads are nice too.
nzxt makes some nice looking aio
i might get one but idk if it fits tr
and TT
Evga AIOs are kinda scary
been meaning to custom loop one of my servers sometime
evga i trust for
gpu
everything else is like
I do EVGA for GPUs only.

Yeah i get that
oh psu as well
Oh yeah how did i forget
like.
currently have a 1600w platinum purring away in one of my systems
seasonic is OP.
Damn
seasonic is weak
I don't think I've ever been disappointed with seasonic.
I have
The one seasonic i used failed
850w gold seasonic failed
only one i ever bought
almost DOA
took a test bench with it too
which they replaced but still
It literally burned HDDs
whew
I mainly use corsair PSUs nowadays.
honestly.
most of everyones high end tbh
I should use more Be Quiet stuff
Yeah
I like their aesthetic, I like their performance.
Great german engineering
Yeah
be quiet psus are all fsp units
i am a fan of the dark rocks
What abt greatwall?
meh
Have had success
Eeh, I generally dont care because I really like PSU basements
yeah imagine not using a psu basement
u dont buy a high end psu and marry it with a low end case
Lets me be a lot more lazy
but
TU150
Sush π
Yeah asus cases arnt very good
I use an Asus motherboard
but muh nzxt case
I am evil.

asus makes great boards
You ascended
Do you know who manufactures the asus thor PSUs
The watt readout is really cool
I kind of want to do a build in an NR200
I like the silverstone matx case
@edgy tiger seasonic
I think enermax is pretty decent.
@low scaffold what u talking abt
I looked at the SF30
this
so
I like the squarea fans
superflower lol
gosh, enermax looks so clean to me.
But I've fallen too far for the cooler master NR series.
I liked it
I like air flow.
But that front design
I am kinda a GN sheep
Λ’Λ‘α΅Κ³α΅
Thats an odd reaction but OK
Oh dang.
I flexed it big in my middle school interviews
I used DIYPC once a long time ago.
Oof
I have never used it since.
Yeah
Very old
My finger scars say otherwise.
Sounds like milania
i wore microfiber gloves for all my builds
Wow
I just get tough hands working with dell dimensions
Touching bacteria.
Those things are just waiting to cut you
see
how are deepcool cases?
idc about unrolled metal
i like em
but idc abt cheap cases
do they look good?
are they cheap?
ok lets go
Most are
If it can cut me, it can cut someone else.
So, my go to for cases are 1. Does it look good.
2. Will it be a pain in the butt to cable manage.
3. is it cheap enough.
4. if it cuts me, I am chucking it out the window.
eh
Ha
i lose blood all the time
I just go with it
I work in the quarry in the summer so I just make my hands take it
I don't do phanteks π
exactly.
Which means you pay for the goodness!
too many dollahs!
Cheaper case = more profit!
I mean yeah if i put on my slimey salesman face
I mean.
Most people don't realize how "new" some of the parts are.
If it has a single scratch and I can get it for $50-200 cheaper. I'm doing it.
lmao
when i say all new build it means these specific parts have never been assembled together before
Antek time
It's new to you! π
Yeah!
my server has an antec case
I never spend over $100 for a case for any build.
@paper rune nah i just get my dying drives and slap em in systems
Cool
I also mass buy NVME drives.
I have a great nas CPU laying around
I smell stonks
darn
But 25
Pretty good
is the fractal design meshify c still a good case after 3 years?
960 evo for 45 256gb
I got 25 1TB intel 665p's for about $84 each.
@unreal portal yes
sn730 for $50
ooh
Ok cool
dm if u want smth and ill make it happen
I might have to hit u up for some sweet storage
but I normally net anywhere from $100 - $150 per computer I sell.
Wow
I only put like a 1.5% mkup
I'm planning on stopping though in a week.
weak
Well, I graduate in like 6 days.
I am too much of a nice guy
grad where
Oh congratulations
From uni!
Wow
I will be a real biologist!
Cool!
Lol
If you ever need any middleing done
I kind of specialized my biology degree around viruses.
I have almost graduated from middle school
Oh dang!
Honestly.
The day I buy a mobo for MSRP is the day I decide to not try and make money π
I have a lot to learn about being cheap
lol
I'm looking at buying a Maximus XI Code for less than $300
reggie wya
I'm from good ole Colorado!
Dude try alaska
lol
There is NOBODY
im all good
theres nobody there for a reason
im in the least bad state rn, no reason to move unless job
What is the least bad
Wait really
I dunno π
Dude hawaii would be soo cool
Im from hawaiΚ»i π¬
Not bad in some areas lol
huh
don't look at it, or it's children again!
u callin it bad?
Yeah.
hm
that one is not the greatest yea
lmfao
Itβll turn your house into a bbq
Haa
hey what ATX Mid case would you guys recommend?
depends on budget
but Phanteks P400/P500, Lian Li Lancool 2 mesh, Coolermaster TD500 or H500 are the usual recommendations
if anyone here, bought a Gaming Case Black Cases - Carbide Series Spec-DELTA RGB Tempered Glass Mid-Tower and are not using the RGB fan for their build, message me, i would like to buy them.
rule 9 smh
out of stock
aaa
I even message corsair
I checked ebay nothing, those fan are the rarest piece of equiment in the world.
this the right place to get help upgrading a PSU?
ye
Thanks, need to upgrade antique CORSAIR Enthusiast Series TX650 650W ATX12V/EPS12V 80. Upgraded my graphics card to a ASUS Radeon RX 580 DirectX 12 DUAL-RX580-O8G 8GB 256-Bit GDDR5 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card. New card requires an 8-pin connector. Need to find a PSU that gets me all the power and connectors I need. Old PSU has an ATX connector, 2 x 6+2-Pin and 8 SATA (only need six ATM), old is 650 W. Do I need more power? Can anyone suggest a unit with an 8-pin? Or do I get a modular and a connector?
you can use the 6+2
Ah! Just plugged it in, have a power light....
Computer hasn't found the card, trying to install driver from CD
Will be finally finishing up my new build soon, any recommendations on psu cable extenders?
cheap ones are as good as expensive ones
some may want certain ones for looks, and them looks well, can be a bit pricey
is the rosewill lepton series on psu any good?
@desert flax well, possibly
or should I got with capstone
rosewill has some cred but I would go with a more mainstream PSU brand
what kind of PSU do you want?
I'm looking for a 550-600w cpu
semi modular
but I am willing to go with non-modular
I am willing to do non-modular
non modular is easyer
at this rate, I think I will go with a non-modular model
got any reccomendations?
this looks good
anyone got experience with gamemax psus?
Wow, 80plus platinum too? Thank you so much
np
Now just gotta find the graphics card available... Maybe in a month or two
I know what I want to get though, so no worries there
I have some link-up extensions that are good quality/price
Good find
also $200 is really on the high end for 750w
is there any way to get an answer on something
depends
on what
it did before when I got no answer I just deleted the question
It's platinum and its Seasonic so it's not a bad deal
@glass oasis patience is a good thing to have.
Re ask
man i thought i was going crazy
i wanted to say something about the case with no CD drive
but then it was gone
also, the link was to a brand called "hair detox" or something insane like that
I have noticed that cases seem to come with out cd drive bays, nor do they come with drive mounting bays either.
Yeah.
most now don't have the large drive cages in the front like they used to
There still are some if you want it
also, lots of people don't need DVD drives anymore
Yeah
they usually have a couple 3.5" drive spots in the bottom, and a couple 2.5"ssd spots on the back MB tray
well I have to put my MRI CD's in so my brother who is a radiologist in Arizona can look over the MRI remotely
They make ones with and without.
It's awesome that it's airflow tho
He hasn't asked his question yet.
then I have SD cards from my mixer from my streams I put in to a sd card slot to archive my stream audio.
^^ this
I use it for 3d printing and for cameras.
@glass oasis external dvd/blu-ray drives are a thing :)
^^^^^
I know that I have a mixer and several other devices that use usb in to this machine.
Do I need connect all 3 lian li front fans to cha fan headers?
that or splitters
I can't attach photo.
@grave haven either directly or via a splitter
I use a phanteks fan controller.
I see, I will to get a splitter then. The manual makes it seem I only need to connect one
Thanks!
You can daisy chain if they contain the female split
If I get one and connect all 6 fans to it, the mobo rgb control software will control them and make them in sync?
They don't have any sort of female splits or connector
It doesn't control RGB.
Ah ok
Just fan speed.
I mean rpm
you can also get RGB splitters as well
You need a rgb splitter
Yeah, it can control RPM
Lol
Got it. Guess I will get rgb and rpm splitters
I wanted some thing like this that supports what I was talking about, but was in stock. because of the pandemic. https://www.newegg.com/p/0VN-046G-00003?Item=9SIAS71CCX0267 it does not say that is has any mounting hardware or back plane kit as well.
every thing that comes in to my room has to go under UV light for hours before it comes in to my room. with the exception of food
You always do
Big Safe
don't buy that case
no just 24/7 sick so I dont leave my room
yes I would like some glass as well, an all metal case gets boring to look at
I have a Nvida 2070 with 750 psu
for good airflow, nr600 w/ odd
@young osprey looks sick
i don't know much about that one in particular
but i know cougar is at least competent manufacturer
and it has mesh front and an optical spot
my computer sucks
but whatever you do, don't get the HAIR DETOX brand case from china
https://www.newegg.com/antec-dark-phantom-atx-mid-tower/p/N82E16811129269 this one is rated good
Oooo that's noice
was a little concerned on that top intake, but
@young osprey I found a number for the company for this case https://www.newegg.com/p/N82E16811553062?Item=N82E16811553062 I will call tomorrow about the case
what do you need to call about?
Massive Expandability
MX331 Mesh-G allows you to fit a full-sized ATX motherboard, 350mm-length graphics card, one 5.25" device, two 2.5" SSDs, and two 3.5" HDDs, which satisfy your expandability and storage needs.
no need to laugh at people @low scaffold
its got room for lots of stuff
i was laughing abt how im too socially anxious to call anyone smh
what did you need to know though?
i prefer to avoid talking to people too
especially if i can get all the information myself
Well I do not know it the case comes with fans or not. because some cases say you can add them, then some say they come with them. then I do not know if the IO back plates come with the case like they use to in the past.
IO back plates NEVER came with the case
always the mainboard
re: adding fans: you can always add fans, its just a question of using the right screws
re: included fans: The manufacturers website will tell you
@glass oasis it has one pre-installed fan
Front: 2 x 120mm fan
Top: 2 x 120mm fan
Rear: 1 x 120mm RGB fan ( pre-installed )
yeah it doesn't look bad for a mesh case with a 5.1/4" bay
you'll just want to add at least one intake fan
you should click on the "Specs" tab on newegg for additional info
@young osprey I was going to put as many possible to keep it cooler, my only concern is the fact I not have an inter changeable io bp compatible with the case.
as it is an older mb
the backplate comes with the mainboard
so you just move the backplate
from the case it is in currently
Yeah, or just not use one LOL
I was looking at the size of the cut out and it is larger then the one I currently have for my older case
no?
I may just call th mb mfg if that is the case
mainboard IO backplates have been the same since the start of the ATX spec
I remember trimming mine down because I used a U2 rack mount case, it is to loud as a result of the case style. and the 2070 is on its side and to close to the top of the case for air movement
I opened up the machine, I used aluminum AC tape and sealed the hole so the IO shield has to be some where in my room. I don't throw pc parts away. I want to get out of the U2 case because my 2070 is running at 82C I was told this is way to hot. I have cleaned the dust out. I will order the other case and if I cant find the IO shield I will just do the same again.
whats the best RGB case fans
gelid stellas are good budget ones
any that are actually sold on amazon/newegg?
Anyone got any good atx case recommendations
What budget?
nr400 without odd
if you guys had to take a pick, what is the best 1000w psu. one for titanium and one that is gold perferably. Ive always been a evga because of there outstanding durability to time and build but i wanna see if there is others that people would recommend
im building a pc and have a 10900k and 750w power supply. im probably gonna get a 3070 but i was wondering if it was possible that i push my luck and could somehow squeeze a 3080 in there maybe
how much power does 10900k draw
i have a r7 3800x with a 105 power draw. with a 650w psu in total my build draws 350. and those gpus draw 300, so ill have to upgrade atleast another hundred to keep the nice 100 w free healthy status quo
im sure youll be fine considering that i have a 2k build
For 3080 it depends on model and OC. Ventus has a 320w power limit and Strix (or any 3p model with a vBIOS flash) has a 450w power limit
10900k can be "meh" or "decent amount" on power consumption depending on OC
im thinking about getting a flex atx power supply for a sff pc but i dont know what psu to pick
cv650 is currently 50 bucks iirc
whats a good case under 70
Mx330-g air
i do not know that much but i like this https://www.newegg.com/black-montech-x1-atx-mid-tower/p/2AM-00CN-00011?Item=9SIAK91BP31140
~60$ for a case with mesh and 3 included fans
its 49

Review COUGAR MX330-G Air
curious, anyone buy an EVGA on wed? is there a sale usually on wed? Coulda sworn someone said it the other day...
if you guys had to take a pick, what is the best 1000w psu. one for titanium and one that is gold perferably. Ive always been a evga because of there outstanding durability to time and build but i wanna see if there is others that people would recommend
Big boy showed up
Idk but was the only 1200w I could get fast
The best? Corsair HXi iirc. If you wanna stick to EVGA the P2 is good too i think
P2 T2 G2 all good
so G5 would be the newer/better one?
2 steps down from what?
G2
G2 is the best quality gold unit they make afaik
G3 has high set OCP and lack of OTP, but otherwise good
i thought G1 G2 are made earlier...
really?? why is it a lower quality if gold rated?
Gold rating only applies to efficiency rating estimated based on components
Components could be crap and still be efficient
Gold has nothing to do with PSU Quality
Mhm
this is all good information.. ty... i'm doing some research for a new PSU... since the one I have.. seems to be too old, and wasn't the 700w I thought it was 8+ years ago
I need to check specifics but I'm gonna guess worse ripple on g5
LTT has a good spreadsheet on it
PSU Tier List 4.0 rev. 14.6 Last Update: 29-11-2020 Gray - EoL / obsolete. Generally not recommended for purchase since its going to be pre-owned, refurbished or old stock. Green - small form-factor (gold and blue colors are disregarded due to scarcity of SFX PSUs) Gold - best units in the tier (...
I seen that list, and the G5 was on top area on the B rated PSU's
I don't think EVGA has made any better series than the X2 series
look at g2 p2 and t2
Nothing wrong with a B status
Mhm, it's all relative above the "good nuff" tier
Honestly, I've had a C or D PSU for YEARS with no issues but I don't push it hard
It's a Thermaltake something
when I plugged in the 3060ti.. the system would not boot, but it works fine with the 1050ti... so looked at the acatual PSU.. and it says 554w max lol
yeeks
That's a 700W PSU
554 is only the 12VDC rail
hmmmm
That should be fine for the 3060
i thought so too, but when I plugged in the new GPU.. nothing powered on, lights went on for half a second, like it discharges when the plug is out when I am about to work on it... to get any residual charge out
3060ti only uses 1 PCIe connector, which can only be on one of the 12v rails
it's a PCI-E cable... and it went into the adapter the FE's provided
Ah, I thought it was two into the 12 pin sorry
so thats ~275w per rail
Ye, should be fine on that PSU
meaning, make sure the 8 pin you use is on its own 12v rail
Maybe it's not seated fully or something. Try a different modular cable?
I meant the card into the slot
yeah, it went in fine.. the clip went in to lock it into place
bob said it could be that it's old, and not pushing out enough watts... but it's enough for what it has.. 9700k, AIO cooler, m.2 SSD and the RAM and MB taking up some of the watts... should be about 300 watts about that from one of the calculators i used
I would honestly try a different PCI-E power cable and port on the PSU
Unless you tried them all
i tried all the ports in the PSU.. same PCI-E... will have to open older PC to see if i can snag that PCI-E cable
it's been 8 years since I built the other pc, but 5 months for this one.. i used the old PCU for this build
oh, the other PC, has a non-modular PCU.. so actually can't grab a cable from there lol
8 year old PSU?
yes
I mean, it's POSSIBLE it could be getting weak but typically they either work or they don't
I still think it's a power cable issue
wait
wait
waiting
When you said it wouldn't boot, what do you mean?
Like, no POST beep?
Or just no image?
everything is plugged in... i hit power... and it looked like it was discharging the residual power that was still in PSU
No fan spin?
How long did you wait with the power on?
when I hit the power button, it starts normally.. but with new GPU.. it looks like the system is discharging...
i know, odd
try running the system without the PCIe power cable attached
but with the gpu installed
hmmmm but the card needs the power...
See if you get a GPU error light or POST code
i want to see the system display the "Please insert GPU power cable"
ok, will def try that in morning
Might be a bad card
i'd hate for that to be such..
if you can run the card without the pcie power cable, and the system successfully loads the cards vbios, then the card may not be the issue
true... I should call up bestbuy, and see if they could test the GPU.. not sure if they do that
Yeah, at that point it's the power cable or PSU
I know the PSU i have now is def 8+ years I had it.. not sure how long ago it was actually made.. figure another year or so.. so almost 9-10 year old PSU... most PSU's don't last that long...
and when I built the PC 5 months ago, I just got the other components, and used the 1050ti, case and PSU... all else was new
Picture of the PCI-E powe cable you're using?
if you really wanted to give the psu a proper cleaning and recap job, you might be able to get a few more years out of it lol
let me get the pic of the cable
π
the psu comes with a 6 pin and a 6+2 pin cable
Ye
each cable has the same end that goes into the psu tho
Ye
I've seen people use the 8 pin mobo power before tho
I know you have to kind of force it but some go in pretty easy
lol
Just saying, it's a thing
that is the wrong one
That's a 6 pin?
yep
6pin to 8pin
is the PSU connection 6 or 8 pins though?
6 pin into the PSU
and the 8pin goes into the adapter thing the FE adapter
NO
omg
thats a yikes, i hope the gpu is ok
This is a VERY popular power supply, and I think a big part of it is that it's the best value for an inexpensive, reasonably efficient modular power supply, so obviously many users will be interested in something like this.
ok... opened the case now...
yeah, i looked for the box/bag the cables came in.. couldn't find it, then saw this...
see linus vid, use the second cable he shows
It's OK, just get an 8 pin to 8 pin PCI-E cable
Amazon or wherever
Doesn't need to be OCA brand
OCZ*
thank you for listening/helping... almost paid for a new PSU.. even though new PSU i think may be in order since it was on the to-do list to get with new PC
ALways go with your gut instinct
something like this
Mine said wrong power cable
that cable is 8pin to 6 pin
SassyFish, that's not the right one
Needs to be 8+8
thats the right one
No
it should work with amd right bc it says intel form factor is that right?
No, it goes into a female 8 PIN nVidia adapter
Oh
I see whatr you're doing
using the existing cable
I get it now
I was gonna have him get a whole NEW cable
psu has female 8 pin, then psu modular came male 8 pin, psu modular cable male 6 pin, then amazon cable female 6 pin, amazon cable male 8 pin
there is 2 8-pin spots on the PSU...
Yeah
oh, good luck finding a compatible 10 year old cable lmaooo
i'm just about ready to order the new PSU LOL
pinout is specific to that psu
Look, just get the adapter
yeah
It's not special but I'm not gonna argue the point
Sigh.
I remember it coming with a nice pouch/bag with a bunch of cables.. need to find it.. I do keep old boxes the cases came in... now to find that pouch...
heres an example of a corsair psu cable pinout
ALways in the last place you look so start there first
All you have to do is look at his picture and a PCI-E 8 pin to realize all the powers are on the bottom and the grounds are on the top
It's the PCI-E standard
Same with Thermaltake
but not all modular cables are built that way
theres no guarantee that the one you buy will work
no guarantee whatsoever
just going to interject here and say: Unless you have the schematic for that particular PSU, you dont know.
Just going to say, I have the manual and the schematic π
But that's neither here nor there
ok looked again through 2 closet full of stuff.. no bag of cables
and a bunch of people have come here, and asked if they can order "any" cable extension mod, and people have been telling them yes.
so its not "you" @opal night as such i am interjecting on, more the "lurkers"
no worries.
all gave sound information, and now I know it was the cable itself was the issue....
It should always be a given that any information applies only to the current conversation or hardware
But, not everyone uses that
without the pouch with the cables that came with the PSU... maybe just best to order a new PSU
(sidenote, i really dislike discords "oh, there is 3 unread messages", then you scroll down 8 screens after you type a response bs.)
Nah
just get the adapter sassy posted and be done with it
Just MAKE SURE the red 8 pin end goes in the PSU this time
And you'll be fine
Yeah, that one
Yeah, I was just reading that
jan-feb
lol... another won't be here till dec 30th
got a local electronics store that could make one for you?
Doubt they'd have it
not the place i would lean on to make a custom cable. But that is mainly because i know close to nothing about them
not prime...
ah
Always get mesh cases
i just have payment on newegg still...
oh never will I ever get a full tempered glass .. seen too many memes of folks showing off their smashed tempered glass...
and again, thank you to everyone that gave some very good information and help....
Reason: Bad word usage
@sly mural dont get that combo , sheet psu
let me show you the adapter too...
the 8-pin side of the adapter
sorry for blurry.. cell phone not greatest lol
You'll be fine
Just need to find an adapter
Or the magic pouch you lost 8 years ago
that is the adapter the FE came with
Ye
magic pouch lol
so that 6-pin goes into that adapter.. but there is 2 pins that seem to want something to connect to... even tho the plug that goes into the GPU.. is a 12-pin but only 6 has those metal things in it...
Red cable
8 pin to PSU, 6 pin to adapter
8 pin end of adapter into the nVidia adapter
Life is good
why can't there be an 8pin to that 12pin input plug in GPU? o.O
Cuz nVidia is poopy and made a new connector
lol... that just makes it tougher for folks then...
It does
Luckily it's only the FOunders Edition cards that have that
The board partner cards do not
Like EVGA, MSI, etc
hmmmmm i just HAD to get the FE... well, was only one I was trying for.. damn near broke F5 key...
i was lucky to get it... almost got some asus one on newegg.. but they sold out fast... almost gave up on bestbuy.. but they were staggering in batches
