I'd just buy a 1140 and b560 personally, that way you get a cpu upgrade as well, a b450 will do
I will stay at amd and do a cpu upgrade later
Then I'd try get a decent b450 or x470
I’ll take a look thank u
8410B would be b die
3200c16 at 1.35v
Should be b die, according to the sticker
There is lower binned b die that don't oc as well, but still likely b die
True
You get a used MB anyway to test it with out hooking everything up? Also is it one of those things that testing will show if it's good or bad or one of those no it will just break down the road without showing any signs now type of things ?
What?
If I am buying a used motherboard can I just have it tested to makes sure it works on its own without having it completely put into me pc if I take it to a shop to look at? Also is it a part that will show damage right away and not work or something that will look fine and then break shortly down the road? Don't buy used parts but couldn't pass up a deal on this MB not really sure how bad or good the odds are buying a used MB
You'll need to hookup a cpu + cooler + power at the bare minimum
No way to test it without a full system tbh
Unless there's scratches on the motherboard you'll be fine, as for how long it will last, should last same amount as any other motherboard
Thanks so probably have to take my whole pc over there as well. Hate moving this thing I have furniture that ways less and is not as unwieldy
I mean, mobos can just be bricked if they did something quite wrong
Stuff like if the power went out mid-bios-update
Thanks, like my current MB but upgrading to the extreme for $300 figure take the chance see if it's working
300$ for a motherboard does not seem like a great idea
Its a z390 xtreme
Yes ofc, meant to say as long as is boots like
A motherboard upgrade doesn't give you much performance anyways, and on an outdated platform, I say no
No point, dead platform
Even if it's a z390 dark, wouldn't pay much over like 200$
But that's because dark nice board with tons of features
Getting it for the 10gig ethernet port and thunderbolt that my z390 ultra doesn't have,
Do you really need a 10g port?
Isp went up to 2gig here so needed a upgrade from the 1 gig on this mb
Need sounds like a strong word
2.5g Ethernet card is like 30$ at worst
It's not worth a 300$ upgrade that doesn't give you much else
Think it also gives me the extra ports to use my front usb`s right now only able to use twoof the 4 and the C port
And USB hub/splitter/extender cards won't set you back more than 20$
You can get splitters for that ye
Thanks for the help
Would this ram TEAMGROUP ELITE 32GB (2 x 16GB) PC5-38400 (DDR5-4800) UDIMM Memory TED532G4800C
work with https://www.newegg.com/p/N82E16813144484?Item=N82E16813144484
I'd just upgrade full platform at this point if you're willing to drop $300 on a dead end platform. Intel's new platform comes with 2.5gb lan as part of chipset now
Is there any reason to upgrade from an a320m-k I have a 1600 af in ur but idk if I should upgrade or just stay?
I want to upstage GPU’s but ye prices u know
There's a reason to upgrade both cpu and mobo but not just mobo alone
Wel ye that’s a good one but it will be high price so I will do that later
I think I will just save money I do want to overclock but idk if it will improve the 1600
Not really, 11400 is 135$ and b560 is 90$
What country?
Reason: Bad word usage
My country sadly is having also a good taste of the chip shortage so cpu en mobo are going up in price
Ahh okay, default is us, lemme see what you could do, what's your budget like?
Nah not really
Wel not higher than 200 I think don’t want to spend that much on a cpu en mobo or I will just stay at the 1600 and upgrade later
Ah yeah cheapest worth your time would be 250
Would that be the 10400f and B560?
Yeah
Is it worth it to upgrade to a 5600x or a 5800x from a 3700x with the cyber deals?
Nah wait for zen3d, comes in January/Feb most likely same am4 socket
Well I got the Z690 Master and Z5 5600 cl36 ram from Newegg just a bit ago. It’s non RGB though. Worth keeping
theres no way theyd put ddr5 and new socket on a refresh right?
Oh nice
Nah am5 is ddr5
May I ask for help finding an ATX motherboard for a Ryzen 3 3200G?
I need Bluetooth and a USB-C Front Panel connector, and I don't know why this has turned into a headache.
BTW I JUST joined the channel. If this isn't where to ask, I had no idea and will need help getting to the right sub-channel.
There's no more ddr5. I can't even find the option 😦
Just type in ddr5 combo and kee refreshing. Might catch some
Why do you need atx specifically?
Wel if you want specificly Bluetooth build in its not going to be cheap u can buy a dongle for the motherboard I would look for b450 or b550 or x470 and than the gaming boards for b450 some have usb c watch out if it is need to be. Thunderbolt!
Swapping MB from gigabyte Z390 ultra to gigabyte Z390 Xtreme would that require redoing swapping the cables with the new ones in the box or would I just be using the current cables in my pc and just connecting them to the new MB?
Most current cables ok, maybe only 1 or 2 would be to be changed/upgraded for some reason.
Can I plug a case fan into a cpu fan header?
Yes but it'll default to a dif fan curve
Ok thanks
If you've used a bios enough, you could go in there and probably cpu fan header setting to operate at full speed if you wanted.
Thats the fun part
You cant
Because stock shortage
Just gotta keep looking till you find a kit
yea but how long?
As long as it takes ig
oooouh
TBH mainly aesthetic, but also for future-proofing. I admit multiple PCI-E is more than a year away, so there is wiggle room, here. I'm just exhausted.
Do you mean expansion cards? Because multiple gpus have came and went already
I think they mean they probably won't get any extra cards for a while
Idk tbh

Oop
Are B660 mobos likely to release along with the rest of intel’s desktop cpu lineup?
I’m trying to figure out if a 12400 build will actually be worth it
Seeing as how the i5-12400 has similar performance to the 5600x
But at the same time z690 boards are way too expensive for a budget build
most likely
Reason: Bad word usage
Reason: Too many infractions
What timings are these roughly equivalent to because of the cas latency?
Or like what specs in ddr4*
hey i have ? @vast meadow https://www.ebay.com/itm/294545029798 will i need find a cpu to update this to run on 9700k i know some on amzon our updated to work but not sure on this one
@warm bolt just take a look at this perf comparison
It doesn’t compare any ddr4 tho
the one purple bar
Also received my mobo and ram just waiting on case tomorrow other than the lga1700 bracket and gpu but my cpu has integrated graphics. Anyone have a few minutes to let me know if I need anymore cables for my build tomorrow? So i can order some cables if need be.
wdym any more cables
Well i thought the mobo was supposed to have more cables to connect stuff like to my storage.
it dies
other degradation is hard to measure unless you've done manual oc on it before and know how far you can push it normally
The mobo should've came with some sata cables
that looks like sata
and that's all you really need
my pc freeze every 24h and cant use it until i restart it
But only two?
are you using more than 2 sata drives
Also I thought i needed some cable to connect to the front of my lian li case to make those ports work.
use whocrashed or something
check event viewer
those should be in the case
Im using 2 ssds and a hdd
ill try
M.2 drives don't need cables
Aight and then i was going to look at the mobo specs again but do i need a network card for ethernet? Or would a port be on there?
I assume on there
99% chance there's a ethernet port on rear io
like 99.999% chance
I don't know any mobo without a ethernet port on rear io
The question is if that port works out of the box 🙃
@hollow thornin event viewer i should head off to system ?
Aight good
Windows logs, system, and look for anything near the time of freezing
Then last question for now is that my mobo came with a disc. Is that to install base boot files?
Or what is that for?
Nvm
Looked at it and it says drivers and utilities. I was just a little nervous about moving the mobo too much.
Warning! The Asus TUF GAMING X570-PLUS (WI-FI) ATX AM4 Motherboard supports the AMD Ryzen 5 5600G 3.9 GHz 6-Core Processor with BIOS version 3001. If the motherboard is using an older BIOS version, upgrading the BIOS will be necessary to support the CPU.
does anyone know whwat this means 😭
It means you have to update the bios
Depending on what cpu you have with it. It won’t work straight out of boot with the cpu depending on cpu.
Until you update. Assuming your cpu is compatible with mobo.
Win10/11 is often bought on a flash drive or easily* DL'd yet some mobos still give us a (old driver) disc w/ stuff, lol.
I'm more just meaning the slot.
I might need extra for a second GPU, maybe even a sound blaster card for some obscure temporary project. I just know that ATX is the one that'll work best with my current case and personal agenda.
When you say cheap, are you meaning $300+?
Because I'm down with $200-. I'm just trying not to cross the $200 line.
Can someone please help point me to the correct ram to buy for upgrading my pc? I used a scanner and it told me the wrong ram and ended spending money that i had to get refunded, because sure enough its not the right ram
if i give model number and serial number etc... any one can help?
My computer is an MSI - MPG Trident AS 10SC-1208US-B71070F2065816GS1T0X10MaaB6 Serial number: MSB926KBT0100011
nevermind i think maybe i found the right ram?
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07ZLDCYYS/?language=en_US&cstrackid=9d3eaad3-a721-4f2c-b43e-212ea5bac86a&tag=microncsus-20
Are you looking for 64gb of ram?
The desktop PC, correct?
yea its a desktop, its this one
maybe a slightly different model, but its the same computer basicaly
Trying to check the manual but ig it doesn't want to load, I'll just make a guess it has the equivalent of a b460m pro
2 memory slots, correct?
I used crucials ram scanner again, and i think it worked this time. I don't know why it gave me Sodimm the first time
yes
total capacity of 32g each slot for max 64
MSI says it's proprietary but it probably just rebranded another board like b460m-a
I just opened the glass side door to double check and it is definitely udimm
because the ram chips are long
not short and fast
Try this kit, cheaper, does the same thing

And yea, it's desktop ddr4 dimms
RipJaws V Series, designed specifically for AMD Ryzen X570 and TRX40 Series; Intel X299, Z390, Z490 and newer.
is this a problem if im runnin RTX?
nvidia?
or not really
Not a problem, that's just marketing, and that has to do with the motherboard and the CPU, the motherboard you have is B460, the same generation as Z490
oh they may be referring to the motherboard yea
yea so i have an intel core I-7 10700f @ 2.9Ghz, 2901 MHZ, 8 core, 16 logical
Yea, should be fine
ok, so you think the ram in the link you sent me will peform just as well? because for me personaly money is not an issue
but i do not mind saving money when i can 😉
if it does the same thing
I mean, it also gets a heatsink and the kit I linked is theoretically faster because tighter timings (lower latencies)
Im wondering if those two will have trouble fitting into the case. I have a picture of how tight it is, and I tried to show it to you but it wont let me put pictures here
like the ram chips sit under the fan and heat sink, which must be removed, and i mean its TIGHT because this is a compact pc
You can DM it to me if you'd like
ok
So I don’t even need those boot files? Windows has is covered? That’s not like uefi or bios install? Those things are on the board?
Well yeah i can answer my own question
A base bios should be on the board
If you wanted, could check/update bios 1st thing so not to deal w/ it later. Win10 should have a bunch of basic drivers. I usually go to mobo website and download latest copies of w/e drivers/software I need before hand. 👍
I have a gtx 1060 3gb, i5-7400, and 16 gb ram but for some reason I only get 30 fps on rust on low settings. I just watched a guy with the same gpu and ram but with an i5-3550 getting 70 fps
I don't know what's causing the fps problem
resolution? buggy driver? 6gb 1060?
the other guy might've had 6 gigs 1060
would a 3gb be that much worse lol
a 970 is 3.5gb effectively
never played rust tho
i5-4460
3gb 1060 also had less cores/shaders, so it wasn't much better than a 970, from what I recell. even the 3gb model though should do better in rust. Maybe upscaling or something in Nvidia controls?
Because of what you want and having the 3200g you'll have to go with this to get a type c motherboard header,
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/6jFKHx/asus-tuf-gaming-x570-pro-wi-fi-atx-am4-motherboard-tuf-gaming-x570-pro-wi-fi
Gonna sound obvious but you don't have vsync enabled do you?
Perhaps 1/2 refresh rate mode and a 60hz display? That's an idea for sure.
Whoah! OK that thing looks perfect.
Any idea how to lookup what I'm losing when transitioning from the B-550 E to this X570?
Uhh why bother that would be a downgrade, i assumed your board broke or something
Also these boards are way to expensive to put a 3200g on 😭
YEah, that's my whole thing.
I"m running on gradual updates, but I wanna swap the 3200g instead of just replacing it, so that kinda makes it the one that'll stay the longest.
I guess we're really just dealing with me being thick-headed, here. I should just swap the CPU ahead of time instead of compromising with the motherboard so much.
The motherboard you have right now is great so yeah no reason to buy another one especially when sacrificing a cpu upgrade
Thats what one might call, a bad idea
is it possible to run coffee lake cpu's on z170 motherboards?
No
Intel did dumb things with lga1151
z170 will support up to 7700k
anything beyond will take z390
what about this? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hghT2iOvWTU&ab_channel=Luumi
Roughly 2 years ago, I made my first material about running a Coffee Lake CPU, mainly the 8700K in a Z170/Z270 motherboard, and it got a lot of interest back then. Many people wondered why isn't it natively supported, and is the mod limited to Asrock motherboards only. It wasn't easy to setup the motherboard to run the newer CPUs in the early da...
Socket and/or cpu depending on mobo
Does anyone know of a company that sells computers or motherboards with a parralel port for a plasma cam table
No but you can get pcie expansion cards with one or a usb to parallel cable on Amazon or something for like 10-15$
He says he just wants to buy a new computer since this one we are using was built in 03
Yeah I'd just get a regular desktop then and use a usb or pcie to parallel
He wants to know if he can get a USB and connect it to his surface pro he has and run it from there
Usb to parallel? Ye
With a bit of kapton tape and good enough VRMs yes
Is someone able to help me? I need to upgrade my laptop's RAM and am trying to make sure the brand is trustworthy and all the components are compatible.
What model laptop? A lot can't be upgraded because it's soldered in
Nah I don't think I have it enabled but I'll double check
1920x1080p 144 hz monitor
Yeah, that's where I was going. I've been there with games locking at 83fps due to vsync
Vsync fully off on rust and in nvidia control panel
still 30-40 fps
might just sell this pc n buy a new one xD
reset nvidia settings? idk, that specific gpu is holding ya back a fair bit. all prices are wack right now though. If I didn't want to be GPU-less for 2 years or drop $600+ total on somethin, I'd sell my 1080 right now 😂
chillen you could legit get a b460 board used for $55 and a $90 10100f
and it'd be a huge improvement lol
haha, ikr. Plenty for 1080P, sorta (The 1080 has a strong back, get it?). Gonna be a good spare PC though.
Would it? See I need ram also, so there's another $50ish maybe.
If you go used you can get ddr4 3200 for $30-35 for 16gb cl16
$200 for a power improvement XD
That's a fine idea there. I was thinking aiming closer to the fences w/ a 11600 or similar and really not bothering upgrading again for quite a while. it's mobo choices that's tough perhaps. Well, more useful upgrade than the AX88u I just got 🤣 (my PC is on ethernet), roommates are not. Thnx for the input either way.
Atm, either go
10400/11400 + b560 +16gb 3200cl16 ram +30$ cooler ~=380$
or
5600x + b550 + 16gb 3600cl16 ram +45$ cooler =520$
or
12600k and z690+ 16gb 3600cl16 ram + 100$ cooler =~680$
Thnx pato, i'll do more checking. Here's a quick n dirty cart I had. Could easily go down $70-80 w/ a different mobo. cpu choice is more finicky because sometimes it feels like spending $30-40 is quite worth it, VS same increase on certain other items. 👍 32gb currently, but perhaps that's still way overkill for mainly gaming.
I just can't justify spending that much on an 11600k when you can get a 5600x for cheaper and perform better unless you want to do overclocking as a hobby
32gb was definitely super overkill for your cpu and is still pretty overkill for nowadays, only games that can utilize over 16gb ram is flight sym 2020
right, I only barely hit 12GB usage in a couple games, that's a sign. The extra 16GB was just cheap a while back & I felt like it.
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/6t6g2V price range 1
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/ZGt6vf price range 2
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/TkBFBc price range 3
Right, well that's what I'd do for each depending how much you wanna spend
btw I'm not familiar w/ amd at all, and not big on OC'ing cpu's. gonna start saving stuff like your 1st statement up there.
Having amd and having intel in your system, you can't tell once the pc is built
yeah, cpu doesn't even really need drivers or anything compared to gpu or something. you're right. Now I also get the extra $200+ for z590/116 wouldn't be a good value.
Ye...
Oh I thought I saw 11400, but $165 is pretty good. I like this B560 (most have few i/o usb. wow, didnt know m.2 went up to 110mm, interesting. 'preciate the parts list by the way. https://www.amazon.com/ASUS-B560-PLUS-Motherboard-DisplayPort-Thunderbolt/dp/B08WRMG17M

Very much worth the extra money, especially with a high tier CPU.
Am5 leaks to only support ddr5 and not ddr4 👀
seems so
Why rip lol
Am5 prices will be up and then ddr5 prices and availability
Idk bout am5 but hopefully ddr5 gets sorted or they add ddr4 support if it doesn't get better stock wise
this is exactly what i upgrad end of platform
Am5 would be higher than most am4 cpus
Source?
5>4, big if true
Well if their performance wants to surpass the 5800x and 5950x with the prices they have currently of around $400+ it would be best to assume they would be in the price range or higher with the R7 and R9
they will price them to compete with intels id imagine
5900x is on sale for $440 at newegg with the quadpay thing
Yeah thats a little high in price but justified with mobo prices
But with the prices of ddr5 its a bit rough
Here the current price situation is 5600X @ $270, 12600K @ $280, 12700KF @ $380, 5900X @ $475, 12900KF @ $560, 5950X @ $700
Not really, they're already changing nodes so that's already a performance bumb, and usually prices are around the same
Im gonna still assume for now that it will be a little higher in pricing
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/VNBb4d
Issues regarding the Ryzen 9 5950x and the memory kit I've chosen. PcPartPicker states "The G.Skill Trident Z RGB 64 GB (4 x 16 GB) DDR4-3600 CL14 Memory operating voltage of 1.45 V exceeds the AMD Zen 3 CPU recommended maximum of 1350 mv+7% (1444.5 mv). This memory module may run at a reduced clock rate to meet the 1350 mv voltage recommendation, or may require running at a voltage greater than the AMD recommended maximum. "
WTF does this mean?
(There are some other issues with the build such as BIOS and additional drive bays needed, they can be ignored)
ram voltage too high
1.35v needed for optimal compatibility
The ram might run at speed slower than 3600
Cause voltage it's running at is too high
alright managed to find a lower voltage, same speed, slightly worse cas latency kit
Ehh, yes but actually no.
1.35v is the recommended based on early specs but just about any X470, B550, or X570 mobo with a 5000 series cpu won't have an issue with 1.45v.
Besides 1.45v is probably b-die
ah
Anyone have issues with DDR5 XMP profiles? I wasn’t able to get it to run on my MSI board so I switched to Gigabyte Aorus Master. Ran it successfully for a few days and now one of my XPG Lancer’s doesn’t work. System won’t boot with it in any slot. Other stick still works 🤔 since there is no stock available anywhere it isn’t like I can replace it
Anyone have a line on ddr5 memory? I’m not even sure where I should squat and continuously recheck at this point
Possibly just needs a bit of manual tuning tbh
Newegg are doing some, possibly Amazon, i believe b&h is doing preorders
That’s what I thought as well; however the system won’t boot with that ram even with a reset bios.
@vast meadow, my friend i need a answer...
B&H was doing preorders on the XPG DDR5, but I don’t see that option anymore. I checked yesterday and none of there sticks had an active preorder option unfortunately.
Ohh ehhh have you tried clearing using the pins as well as removing the bios battery and unplugging from the wall and waiting a few mins?
!ask
Shame
!ask i7 11700f + gtz 750 ti bottleneck
Also if you haven't bought a ddr5 mobo yet just get fast ddr4 and a ddr4 mobo
Ofc
I unfortunately did buy a ddr5 mobo, I wanted to take and advantage of all the new stuff. But sitting 5 weeks later with an entire machine ready to build minus ram has now irked my soul
Rip well good luck
@vast meadow how big is the bottleneck between those 2?
Depends
15% 20%?
For your use, csgo 11700 isn't worth over 11400 especially with that gpu
well i plan to upgrade in a few months
Not much point going from 11400 to 11700
Only one worth your time imho would be to a 10850k/10900(k) but you'd need to buy a motherboard that's way overspecced for an 11400
If you turn on cpu time and gpu time on a game that allows you see that. You can easily tell your bottleneck
Which ever number is higher, is the bottle neck, and you can do the math to see how much
Appreciate the info none the less. I may just buy a new mobo and say to the hell with it
Yeah, your ddr5 one is probs still in return window anyway
@vast meadow how about i9 11900 with the 750 ti 😄 ?
Still a big bottleneck
But more worth it to get a 10850k or a 10900(k) right away if you will be upgrading your GPU in the future
11900K is just a more expensive version of the 10900K
here 11900 is literarily cheaper than the 10900 by about 100 $
What country are you in?
romania
Looks to be harder to find than MSRP Nvidia GPUs at this point
10900 is way better than 11900. Better multi core, better temps. The only thing 11tg gen has going for it is memory controller
so the 11th gen is a downgrade?
11900 is a waste of sand, it's an overpriced 11700
Basically yeah. 11700 is beaten by 10700 and 11900 removed 2 cores. Cursed generation.
Cpu/gpu time, where's that?
Some games will have options to view your gpu and cpu rendering time. Like warzone and valorant.
You can also see frame times in the nvidia overlay. I think the amd one too.
how likely is it to buy a used 9900k for ~200$, mod my z170 motherboard, and it ending up working flawlessly?
Flawlessly? Not likely even if the mod is successful because the microcode for that cpu isn't in the bios, so you'll need to find or create a custom bios.
yeah, i forgot to mention modding bios
but how likely is the whole thing to work out?
considering both mods might be hard, and there is a chance i buy a brick
Personally I've never attempted it. The time investment required costs me more than a new board.
From what I've seen it's maybe 50-70% success rate
what about just getting a working cpu?
i've never bought pretty much anything used, but i've heard that cpu's are the most reliable hardware
As long as the seller is reputable you can usually rely on the description in the listing to be accurate. I've bought several used processors and each arrived exactly how I expected.
you were buying from ebay?
Sometimes, also r/hardwareswap and one time offerup
i see
what's the difference between i7 11700f and i7 11700k?
f version doesn't have a built-in graphics and is not overclockable
@keen inlet do you think it's worth it to buy the K version?
At best the 11700k is equal to the 10700k. Only get the 11700k if it's cheaper than the 10700k.
if you are gonna overclock then you should probably go with the K version, but if you wanna save money and you have a dedicated graphics card then go with the F version
The question you should be asking is is any 11700 worth it
^ this, btw
just how much more better it performs than the 11400?
In games? Not that much
yeah, probably not worth the money
In csgo it's like 15% difference but everything is mostly is the same
order this https://www.ebay.com/itm/294545029798 got this nothing like what i order
It is what you ordered tho
Just because it says amd crossfire doesnt make it an amd board
It's an oem board, they do that
then the bord
Thats an m.2
It even says ultra m.2
not 2
Right there
one thim is missing
M.2 key e for wifi cards prob
the photo show 3 m.2 on the ebay listing
Or they use stock photos
one being pop by a wifi card
They used stock photos yeah
And m.2 key e is still a m.2 slot
For 60$ its still a good deal
It's an oem board, their only fault here is using info for the stock model. You can contact them through eBay and see what they'll do.
yes
do you guys think the 1700 socket motherboards will get cheaper or not?
They launched last month, they won't any time soon
They'll have B660 boards soon though, those are cheaper but no overclocking
after reading a bit about modding 100 series boards for coffee lake, it really doesn't seem too hard. just shorting and isolating a few pins on the cpu, and getting 2xxx bios and modding it. can't take more than a few hours
Could be a fun project. Not one that I'd personally do for a system I'll use regularly.
Those are some uhhh very questionable videos on ur phone
That dont belong on this server
I'm on mobile so I couldn't zoom in far enough to see anyway, good catch
it did not show any thing
gn
If you say so
Looks like the average Corsair ram stick x)
who is good with computer and can help me trouble shoot my ethernet
!ask
can i ask why we shouldnt ask to ask, and just ask?
People should just be asking the questions straight up rather than asking who can help them or asking id they can ask a question
Click link
i was making a joke
i was sent this https://www.newegg.com/p/1JW-001Z-001A4?Description=ASRock Z370 PRO4&cm_re=ASRock_Z370 PRO4-_-9SIACTNBF25099-_-Product&quicklink=true but got this https://www.ebay.com/itm/294545029798?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2648
do i return our keep not sure
well one issue is i cant get driver on the web site
What driver?
Rather, what on that board could possibly need a driver that win10 doesn't come with?
i cant find it on the website at all
You don't need whatever it is you're looking for
all so the book i was sent for install guid is not even for the bord i got sent
same with the cd
got this err when try install from cd
all so nee update bios cant do that too
Cd often has outdated stuff. Always download recent apps or drivers from manufacturer website, if you actually need it. For win10, all I did was gpu driver & a certa sata driver for my mobo. Win10 is pretty slick
I need sunglasses from all that light mode
well thear risk the bios is wrong
i did try dl new drive and it spat our err
Wish me luck
That poor 9700k having to live in a board like that 😦
short term
moveing to another country so not going spend a lot on a new bord
well as long as it has the features you need i guess lol
How's it going there? I was gonna say don't flash bios if you don't need to, but I have done it a few times w/ no issue thank fully. Flashing a gpu bios is what's more sketchy using certain nvflash versions, or at least it feels like it.
Anyone with an amd gigabyte board should go and check for bios updates. Major vulnerabilities have been fixed.
Update as soon as possible
considering they have an AM4 chip refresh coming soon, and AM5 only at the end of 2022, this is not surprising. The AM4 refresh should keep up with Alderlake, even with DDR4
Ehh it's gonna be end of q2/start of q3 so more like 6/7 months away
And some intel boards, just if you have a gigabyte board check for a bios update
Actually check no matter what brand of board you have. *** this isn't a gigabyte specific issue***
Unless it's a power supply and it explodes
No DDR4 on AM5. Zen 4 desktop (Raphael) chips simply can't support it. Pretty sure Rembrandt (Zen3+ APU releasing in CES) can't support DDR4 either.
Shame :/ i don't see why zen3+ wouldn't support ddr4 tho considering its supposed to stay on am4
It's not Zen3+ in the way you think it is
that makes no sense. so theres gonna be a new platform a whole 3/4 of a year before Zen 4?
Zen3D is a drop in upgrade, still on AM4
Rembrandt is the new APU architecture for laptops (initially) that features Zen3+ using N6
Zen 3 with 3D vCache is still a thing, still on AM4
Zen3+ is not the same as zen 3d
thats even more confusing 🤔
Rembrandt is the Ryzen mobile series, like the Cezanne APUs. They were initially laptops only, later released for desktop
Ok let me put it this way
no, I know the techicalities, im confused by their strategy
Ahh right my mistake, people have being saying zen3+ and zen3d and a few other alterations
There are 3 different product lines coming in 2022 for consumers
I never remember the names for cpus either i just say x gen instead
There is:
-
Rembrandt, which is Zen3+ APU (Ryzen 6000G), initially laptops only, later releasing desktop versions (like Renoir, Cezanne). LPDDR5 and DDR5 only. N6
-
Zen3 with 3D Stacked vCache. Effectively the same as current Ryzen 5000 series, just with extra cache. Consequently, DDR4 only on AM4. Still N7+Glofo14nm IOD
-
Zen4 Desktop (Raphael) coming ~Q3. AM5, DDR5 only. N5+N6 IOD
What do you find confusing?
3D vCache is an interim upgrade to stave off ADL while they finalize Zen4 (which will also have its own vCache variants), and hopefully DDR5 supply gets better
Zen 3 desktop: DDR4 only. fine. Why then make a mobile apu with tweaked architecture and give it DDR5, when DDR5 doesnt offer much improvement in performance, but costs an arm and a leg
Rembrandt is necessary because it's actually a substantial upgrade, at least in the iGPU, and laptop guys want yearly refreshes
Because DDR5 does provide substantial uplifts in performance when limited by bandwidth, as iGPUs tend to be
Also FP bound workloads
(I guess iGPU workloads are FP bound anyways)
But im still pretty sure rembrandt will support ddr4
Also even if that wasn't the case:
DDR5 looks better on paper :)
Marketing is important and is basically the entire point of yearly mobile refreshes even though they're not much better
See: Cezanne was basically Renoir with a Zen3 CCX pasted instead of Zen2. Plus finalized features that didn't make it in time for Renoir
If anything, Cezanne was the "questionable" product. Rembrandt on the other hand... Looks to be quite interesting.
Well damn. hopefully it can give the M1 a run for its money
Yeah but 10th gen intel supports ddr3 too
Since its oem only itll be mostly ddr5 since looks good on paper
Keep in mind that in order to support DDR4, it would need to be compatible with AM4 boards. By the time we see desktop versions of Rembrandt, AM5 will be released (or about to)
But lower end ddr4 alternatives should be available too
Talking about laptop
M1 isn't that technically impressive. Both AMD and Intel will put it in its place, perhaps even before they reach node parity
Its not impressive technically, but in real world applications, its amazing, espcially considering how efficient it is.
Laptop makes even less sense. LPDDR5 is quite mature at this point. No need to support DDR4 laptops
I've never seen a 10th gen CPU with DDR3. I'm gonna have to doubt this one
It was only original Skylake that had dual IMC from what I remember
Aight so just to clarify because I forget amds codenaming
This refresh that's coming early 2022
Is that ddr4 or ddr5
DDR4
Ok that makes more sense lmao
From what I understood amd was being very weird
But i was just misunderstanding
Early 2022 desktop products are DDR4, Zen3 with vCache
Laptop products are DDR5, launching/announced CES2022
what is this
i like this
stealing this
:0 yellow suits you
Wait
Im stupid
I thought you were rommy
lmao
Neat chart
its interesting how were getting all this PCIe bandwidth that no one is using
we should move away from x16 and just do x8
would be cool, but also not because of all these cards from the last 15 or so years that are x16
that suddenly no one could use
Well what would you rather have the pcie bandwidth go to
x8 and shorter slots with an open end for x16 cards to fit are a thing
Asus does it all the time with x1 and x4 slots
A snake
Is the 5900x worth the extra $120 over the 5800x
I mean if you need 12 cores you need 12 cores
The question is more about if the extra performance from 4 extra cores is worth 120$ to YOU
For gaming, no, for workstation tasks etc quite possibly
If you're editing all day, probably worth it, if you're just playing minesweeper all day, probably not worth it
Thanks
5800x is a pain to cool though
Ehh not like you'd put a worse cooler on a 5900x
True.
Im planning a full custom loop with a 3080 but was wondering if the extra is really worth it
cooling wont be an issue
oh yeah i forget they do that
For the performance you get from a custom loop? Heck no
It'll be like 300 - 1,000$ for the loop for maybe 5% performance gain
I meant the extra performance from a 5900x, im doing the loop cause i want one
What are you using the PC for?
Just gaming, i know its total overkill
I'm not sure what the question is now...?
I would go 5800x then.
thanks
So I only have 2 sata 3 ports on my mobo & 4 sata 2. Those should be plenty, but does anyone know a pcie card w/ sata 3 ports on it? Bootable or not is fine actually. Thnx
Probably but who needs more than 6
Just more sata 3, not more total per se. I guess sata 2/3 is irrelevant when just transfering files? 30MB/s I saw recently at times was probably tied to a specific transfer also.
A dremel also works
Yep, PciE has been plenty for a while. X4 3.0 = x8 2.0, etc.
Eh, if you've got a tuned 3090/10900k setup, you'll be missing out on maybe 5% or more running it x8 3.0
Really depends on the game. cpu/memory, gpu power limit all have to be "best case" to create the worst case pcie bandwidth bottleneck
And for a lot of compute use cases, 4.0 absolutely helps even on 5700xt's
exactly. it's not like SLi is much of a thing nowadays, most people will have their gpu in the single best slot which would be x16 3.0 or possibly 4.0 (4.0 x8 = 3.0 x16 so of course that's fine too). Actually funny to think how old 3.0 is (11 years). future pcie bandwidth is looking nuts.
Hey guys I want to upgrade from cpu there are good deals for ryzen 7 3800x butt 5600x (5) is same price wich should I get?
What do you have atm?
But 5600x
what motherboard do you have
yeah 5600x after a bios update would work
Wel it is 8 core agianst 6 core?
6 very fast cores can work faster than 8 slow cores
That’s true tho but ye idk what to do
5600x beats it in single core and is equal to it in multi core
so does anyone know where i can get some ddr5
If you're lookin to buy ddr5
Just please don't
Good ddr4 kits does as well as ddr5 atm
On alder lake of course, the only ddr5 platform for consumer in the world atm
Could someone link me to a prebuild you'd recommend for my friend? Their budget is $1200.
I was eying Msi's popular $200+ MPG mobo's of various tier, but any input on the mid-range Gigabyte Z590 Aorus Elite? Currently $143 could be worth a try.
most prebuilts are over that, unless you wanna try nzxt
evga does have gpu's around msrp but you have to wait in a queue.
get this one
Just buy fast ddr4 instead
13th gen intel leaked to have 8p 16e cores
https://www.tomshardware.com/news/intel-raptor-lake-cpu-falls-to-core-i9-12900k-ryzen-9-5950x-in-early-leaked-benchmark
The P cores are a problem
How so?
so, 12900k .. runs hot and chugs power, so Intel cant add any more P cores. Thats why it seems (according to that article you linked) theyre trying to increase performance by adding ecores.
but the ecores arent made for performance
that my theory
The e cores are made for performance, just not single core performance, fitting 4 e cores in the space of 1 p core at roughly a 1/3 of the perf of a p core, having more e cores is better
look up Hardware unboxed video on e-cores. I now its only gaming, but e-cores dont do well
Yes because gaming is a single core workload for example instead of having 8p 16 e, they could have 12p 0e cores which would loose performance in multi threaded, also you won't be gaming on e cores anyway. Going all p, they would need about 13.33 p cores to equal the multi core score, that's assuming the e to p ratio stays the same
would upgrading from
3gb 533
to 4gb 800
actually be worth while
as in, would the boost in mhz actually constitue any gains in real world
3 to 4 probably wont be much of a difference
but I mean speed wise from 533 to 800
If you're talking about 533mhz ram you're on like ddr2 so don't even bother it would be a waste of money and time trying to even find a compatible stick I'd just try save up a bit more to gen like an i3 10100 and even like 8gb of ram for that
weve
had this convo prior, in here, idk if you specifically,
but,
yes I am on ddr2,
Im trying to keep a machine alive for my family that doesnt need much more than it
old shitbox given to me recently
yes I know its ass
no im..not...buying a
1..00?
dollar...? cpu
fooooooooooor a machine that will be booted up onnnnncee a mounthhh to go to like, audacity or facebook...?
Can somebody give me some advice? I need a new cpu and I’ve got a gigabyte z170x gaming 3 motherboard, what’s the best bang for my bucks I can get, currently running a i5-6500 4 core, it barely scrapes by and it really needs replaced
PS I am gaming so I would like it to run current titles, doesn’t need to be insane because I don’t need it for heavy tasks, but right now it’s struggling to run source games
Then just don't spend any money on it bar maybe an ssd, at least that can be carried forward
What's your budget and what country? Also what ram do you have atm?
it has a barely useable 64 x2 3900 which I plan on upgrading to a 6000
Idek know what you're on about it's that old lol
ok 😐
last time I came here I apperciated that this was the exact response I did not get
guess good things come and go
I dunno what a good price is for a cpu but I want to cheap out, I’m hoping for something under 300$ I’ve got 20gb ram currently and I already plan to get another 16gb stick, my c drive is also damn near full so I know that’s slowing me down to so I’ve got a new m.2 500gb on the way
Uhh i would not run mixed sticks, best case scenario you get a bit of extra ram at the slowest speed on the kit, worse case scenario your entire windows gets corrupted
Also that's way to much ram to even be considered near worth it on a 4 core cpu
That’s why I’m getting another 16 stick so it isn’t mixed
Uh no it will still very much so be mixed
?
Unless it's the exact same ram chip you can get corruption
Yes I’m getting another of the same 16, anyway rams not my issue rn
Okay but that helps your chances, still doesn't guarantee it, what stick do you have atm?
Also what cpu cooler do you have?
And do you need wifi/Bluetooth?
I couldn’t name it off the top of my head, I have no clue what the cooler is but I’ve monitored the heat and it didn’t seem to be the issue, yes I need a Bluetooth chip
It's not something like a stock cooler, that's fine then you can reuse it
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/tkMTgt
@dapper birch
Thank you 🙏
I’ve been running mixed ram for like 2 months, I know I’ve gotta fix it
can somebody help me find a good lga1151 motherboard under 150 with 5+ ARGB ports and 1g ethernet
excuse me
5+ argb ports
you sure you don't want to just get a hub?
practically all of them should have 1g ethernet or better
^
Mixed capacity is ok. Mixed die is not.
Die?
Make and model of the little black squares on the ram stick
Those guys
Ah alright, so why does mismatching them cause so much bad stuff
They dont play well with each other
oh I just meant could handle 5+ argb devices, a hub is fine
Hello! Does anyone know if this is a Rev 2.0 Motherboard? https://www.newegg.com/supermicro-h11ssl-nc-single-amd-epyc-7001-series-processor/p/296-0002-00376?Description=H11SSL-NC&cm_re=H11SSL-NC-_-296-0002-00376-_-Product&quicklink=true
Also why are you buying lga 1151 boards in 2021? You better be getting a hell of a cheap 9700k/9900k
already have a 9900k and have for years
Then why you looking for motherboards? For the rgb? Just get a hub ye
i’m building a new system to run as a server, currently have cheap motherboard, i want to use old motherboard but for server and get new one for my current one.
(SATA powered argb hubs exist)
Unless you find a combo of a good 9th cpu and mobo you'd be better off getting a 10400 and b560 motherboard, would run ~250$ together
Depends on what b550
A pro is fine, usually not the best choice tho
So what is a good motherboard for a 5600?
Depends what country
What about the one I told you about is that one good
It's fine too, more expensive tho
You can get other better boards for cheaper
So it’s only the price that affects it?
And competition
Wym
The competition like the other boards for the price
Oh
That’s good ram for the motherboard?
That's good ram for a 5600x yeah, motherboards don't matter much for your ram choices, more of a cpu thing
Anything else? I can just do a list if you want but cmon i aint doing it 1 by 1 lol
Basically everything that goes good with a 5600 and that looks good
So a whole pc list?
Yea
Below 800
@oak prawn
Do you already have a gpu?
800 isn't enough for a 5600x and a decent gpu really
Huh?
Well you're gonna wanna set a budget, what's your definition of good, what games what resolution etc
I usually play warzone Roblox Minecraft and gta
Then don't get a 5600x
How much are you willing to spend?
If it's actually under 800$ get this
https://www.hp.com/us-en/shop/pdp/hp-pavilion-gaming-desktop-tg01-1070m-3g825av-1
And replace the ram with this

Or something like this https://pcpartpicker.com/list/mrbVt8
Well I thought a 5600 was meant for gaming tho
Graphics card is more important, 5600x is a CPU you would put in like a 1400$ build or something
Well I’m getting the gpu last
Well then even more reason to not get the 5600x, it doesn't have any form of graphics so the pc wont even turn on
So your saying the 5600 sucks?
Not at all I'm saying your pc won't turn on if you have a 5600x and no graphics card, but it's a terrible choice for your budget
Ok I’m gonna have all the parts besides the gpu by Christmas
And on my bday I will have the gpu
Is that good
My bday is in march
That will do, the 10400 will at least work til you can get a gpu
What is a good cooler for 5900x
Arctic liquid freezer ii 280mm or above
Meh motherboard
Not that good huh
No otherwise i would have put it in the list
Oh
Very latest mobo/chipset that uses ddr3? Gonna possibly see how cheap and/or much of an upgrade I could get while reusing this 32gb of 1866 I have. Pointless compared to a $200 6core + cheap 590 mobo?
what mobo and cpu combo can i get for under 200
ideally something like 2nd or 3rd gen ryzen or like 7th gen intel
im fine with used
You can get a 10100 and a b560 board for around 210 iirc
also does my current board have an ARGB port that i could hook a fan hub up to
Not sure what board you have
It was a Z390 UD
"GIGABYTE Z390 UD (LGA 1151 (300 Series) Intel Z390"
okay sorry i dont know a lot about this, argb just means it can control the leds individually, with a normal rgb port i can still hook a fan hub up and tell all the fans to show a color
thru software
Argb and rgb are not interchangeable though, argb fans can't use rgb headers unless you want them to burn, and vice versa.
ah
but with RGB ports i can still control the color of the fans thru software right
if i purchased normal rgb fans instead of argb
Yes
Yea
okay sweet, i assume i also need a different type of fan hub?
Yep
3 main headers relating to fans
4 pin pwm, you can use 3 pin dc fans on 4 pin pwm headers if you want, just means no pwm control, 12v.
4 pin rgb, not interchangeable with argb, 12v.
3 pin argb, not interchangable with rgb, 5v.
whats pwm?
You can control the speed of the fans
ah i thought so
Pulse Width Modulation, fancy way of saying fancy fan control
so on my board i have 4 fan headers, and only one rgb header, I want to use 5 fans with at least 4 having rgb
It allows for finer fan control than DC, and will feed the fan 12v constantly
Sounds like 1 pwm splitter and a RGB hub maybe
Maybe in general, there's other setups
Some hubs have multiple fan headers and RGB headers
Some just do rgb
ah okay, im not sure how i currently have my stuff set up, i know i have some form of hub and have 5 rgb fans running
2 on my aio
i built it like 3 years ago when i was v young
what type of headers are on my board?
You have 1 CPU Fan header (4 pin pwm but shows up differently in bios)
3 system fan headers (4 pin pwm)
1 RGB LED strip header (4 pin rgb)
you say rgb led strip header, but is that capable of connecting to an rgb fan hub instead of a strip
Yes, I was just presenting the name gigabyte gave to the header and then what it actually was
i currently have a 240mmm aio but theres only one CPU fan header, what does that affect?
Doesn't matter much, the only thing different about "CPU fan" and "sys fan" headers is the name they show up as in bios and default fan curves
ah okay
So physically the same, software just works with them slightly differently
what software can i control that rgb header through?
also, wouldn't 1 header to 5 rgb devices draw way too much poewr for that header?
Best software is no software
Whatever is compatible tbh
Hubs tend to also be powered by something else in addition to just the rgb header, commonly sata power, sometimes usb
oh okay
The CoolerMaster 1to10PWM chassis fan hub has 10 sets of PWM fan interfaces, and uses Satan power direct transmission, which can maintain stability under high load conditions when 10 sets of PWM fans are used at the same time, safe output, simpler, more efficient, and more stable. Effective cable...
is that a good option then?
I thought you wanted more rgb?
At the start I suggested just grabbing a splitter since you had 5 fans and 4 headers
Reason being the headers are rated for 1a, common fans tend to be rated .2-.4a each
Sure, that should also work
can you help me find an rgb hub?
I could try in a moment
also, is it sinning to take the thermaltake fans off of my thermaltake aio and to replace all my fans with some offbrand rgb fan brand so i can control them all in one software
So my CPU is running at sub 1GHz any idea why that’s happening?
Nevermind im a complete idiot
what happened lol im curious now
nice lmao
Yeeeeeep
It would be a b560 but way to old to be worth your time
Ddr3? Well anyways check this out, certain cheap b560 mobos limit all-core clocks.
Yeah any ddr3 cpu wouldn't be worth your time, iirc the latest ddr3 cpu is intel 4th gen
Keep in mind this is just the stock config, the higher end boards auto enable power limits off, the lower/mid end ones sometimes don't nothing more than a bios setting also wouldn't be like that in games, that's multi core
Nope, up to 3rd gen only I think@topaz lava
God no please dont get a ~100$ b550 or an okay b450/x470 if upgrading and you already have that
Is there any information regarding replacement of this part for the wifi antenna?
the bottom part of the holder has fallen off and cant stay attached
x570 dark hero btw
@vast meadow im not to good at building i dont know if i can switch the motherboard is it difficult
It’s fairly easy
any yt vids and is the b550 what i should get? @cyan raft
What’s your current mobo and CPU?
I am building a new gpu rig and I have an intel G5905 cpu and I have rtx 3060s, 3070s that I want to use to mine with. I purchased an ASUS b560M mobo and it would not run HiveOS at all! So I had to undo everything and return it. Now I am trying to find another mobo that will work without breaking the bank. What do I look for? I appreciate any help. Thanks.
Go with a 3060 only $400 and faster
Idk contact asus they might have something
3060 isn't faster than a 2070s
it actually isn't lel
also good luck finding a 3060 for 400, that's insanely hard
looks like it's equal more than anything in perf tho
any update
I am dead inside
I have gotten two dead 5900x's in a row, and I am salty af XD
Or some obscure thing is preventing me from running them, but one is confirmed ded by the factory. so I'm at a loss at what it could be, and rely on some higher power to bless me with good fortune
What mobo do you have?
It might just be bios update being required
Asrock X570 Exteme4 running the p3.80 update with AGESA update 1.2.0.3
I am 99% positive that my BIOS isn't the problem, else I don't think they'd send a new processor
I just wanted to rant more-so since it's frustrating lol
Though I guess I'm worried about sending this processor back since I'm worried about them denying the warranty due to this CPU being sent out from the previous one's warranty :/
are you sure they didnt send you the old one back by mistake?
No, it's a different CPU. The serial is different
ok. any chance you can try the cpu in another machine?
I can. I have another PC that I used to test the first dead one.
It's an Asrock B450 board, and it has the P3.60 update to support the 5000 series. It'll be my last test to check if the current CPU is busted, but It's late and I already have a headache lol
my sympathies bud. hope you come right
I appreciate it. You by chance have had any bad luck like this in the past?
I had 2 successive motherboards die on me. MSI.
RMAd first one, when second one died, asked for cash and bought an Asus one
Well that makes me feel a bit better at least lol
Sometimes one just has bad luck 😉
Yeah. Though unfortunately I don't quite have the option to choose a different brand lol
ofc 😆
You'll definitely want to change motherboard if changing cpu, what one you should get specifically depends on your country, if US I'd get the msi pro vdh WiFi it's like 120$ atm
What's the email to report price gougers again ?
Or is 450$ cad for a single 16gb stick of ddr5 the price now
a single stick, nah, a kit of 2x16, might get close, the email is
fairpricing@newegg.com
@hollow thorn does the b550 DS3H compatible with Ryzen 5 5600x
most likely, consult the motherboards cpu sipport list, its just on the manufacturers website
It is but I wouldn't buy it
DS3H motherboards have a history of not being great
Might need bios update so that makes it annoying on a board without flashback
Better to get a msi b550 pro vdh WiFi assuming you're in the us
My friggin eyes...
Let's GOOO!!
We paid for the mobo, we want to see the mobo. Even in a blackhole.
ive seen multiple 3060's for free
well, if you get away with stealing it
facts
we just need more colors in general
everythings just black
like
everything
then we have the occasional white part
and then ram is just whatever, i swear they make ram in any color combination nowadays
Where blue ddr4
Oh I thought that was just rgb, not just rgb
nah it 🅱️
well
🇧
i mean i guess you could make the argument that its a more dark purple
when the lights are off at least
I need some sunglasses
rg🅱️
an all Blue Build, with Neon Blue custom liquid cooling. and a blue mobo.
and it has a tiny screen that just has a Blue Man group slideshow on it.
I'm not even running the blue stuff anymore, still Kingston though. Lame, newer stuff just says "HyperX is a division of Kingston". Well, quite a few other options.
Glad I got my 32GB already cheap on Ebay. wtf Amazon. I know, I know. This'll be a great secondary PC though.
It's because ddr3 hasn't been in production for like 6 years
Yeah I know haha, and 1 pair of the sticks was... Edit: yikes, this kit was $87. Well, not bad. You see that Patriot though, $55 for 16GB. Of course by now, not like anyone would need to by any more ddr3 your'd think.
Nah just cuz it's new, timings seemed like a huge jump from ddr3 to ddr4 too
tbh it's about overall true latency. 10ms would be decent. Like C18 3600mhz ddr4.
It'll get much better soon enough. 6600 mhz is pretty high (for now), that doesnt help also. Funny to basically have a ghz war w/ ram instead of cpus. 7ghz ram, 8ghz ram eventually.
yeah im aware
that's why it's bad atm
it has to be lower
not as low as ddr4 cause it can't be happening ofc
but lower than now
Or freq goes up, either or, but 6600 cl36 i feel would be pretty good
any hard testing done with DDR5 vs DDR4? I dont mean arbitrary MB/S or whatever. I mean actual real world performance?
https://www.pcmag.com/news/ddr5-vs-ddr4-how-much-performance-will-you-gain-from-todays-newest-ram
tl:dr currently not worth the price premium
Derbaur and ltt have done vids, i believe dawid does tech stuff also
Decent for sure, because the bandwidth would be pretty great. We'll be set when we have C36 at 7200Mhz, which technically has the same overall latency as C18* 3600. Of course double the bandwidth should be quite helpful w/ some things.
c*rsair vengence ddr5 looks very nice i must say
why did you sensor the name?
gotta keep it PG x)
fair. 🤣
but I must admit all the DDR5 designs look fire. they all futuristic and sleek.

TPU also did a round of testing
I've been waiting for a month looking for DDR5 everyday and haven't found any
just bought some 3600 c14 ddr4 and I'll use that for a while
maybe if it's possible in a year or two I'll get another motherboard and some good DDR5
(if it's a worthy upgrade)
dont bother tbh, it wont be
benchmarks will tell that story but for gaming I truly expect it not to be indeed
maybe for some server hosting application it would be better
database servers will love the faster io
uhh ram speed doesnt have anything to do with io, also there have been benchmarks with fast ddr4 vs fast(for now) ddr5, couple % perf increase, mainly for 1% lows
Not worth more than double 3600 C18
I'm wondering if I should turn my old parts into a working PC with no GPU
or just sell them as parts
only missing
-a case (i'd get a 40$ used fractal )
-power suppply (50$ 650w psu )
-storage ( 50$ for a 500gb ssd)
canadian dollars btw
i7-7700k
asus maximus hero z270
gskill ddr4 3200 cl14 2x8
phanteks large air cooler
if all youre missing is a gpu id say try and find a gpu and sell it off as a pc instead of separate
3600cl18 is meh at best, equal to 3200cl16 or worse depending on the sub timings
Missing psu , case, storage lol
missing around 200$ worth of parts
this is why you should read kids, didnt see the "only missing" thought it was a list of parts they had
who is going to buy a gpu-less system tho
someone with a GPU ? idk ahaha
that's rare
would be better to try and sell it all off together if you can instead of one by one but dont know the market in canada
1st is just my go to for usual prices, or C16 of it.
me with a gpu sitting around on my shelf rn
lol
🤮
7700 is still 4/8 huh? Not tough sales, but not big money either. W/ a decent GPU would help a lot
I got the Msi a pro b550 It should be good for future upgrades right
what it should look like, vs what it actually looks like
Lol, yep.
In another year or 2, it might not have gotten you 700. 7700 is just a tough sell sort of. The set you have could be $350 maybe? 300? I'd just do the minimum for a spare pc, but I have roommates or relatives that sometimes need pc upgrades.
uhh ryzen 5000 or 5000xt if it comes out is the last gen on that socket soo ehh debatable
Oh ok
Who here is trying to help me get all the parts for my pc
(Like show what parts will run well)
pretty sure i already did
Ye
So what kind of ram do I need?
I gave you a list I'm pretty sure
Can u resend it?
Nope discord search is down atm for me but just look up from pato mentions dunkin donuts when it's back up in the search
looking for ddr5 if anyone has any for sale.....at a reasonable price 🙂
just get ddr4, cause ddr5 isn't any better than good ddr4 atm
