clear cmos time then
i did
Does the cpu you have have integrated graphics or do you have a dedicated gpu?
they should have uhd610
I think it's integrated graphics
I even took out the battery for 24 hours and it still doesn't turn on
did you unplug the computer?
Yes
sad
I tried mostly everything from google
And since I waited to build my computer my motherboard order is 75 days old which I think is past the return policy for newegg
no debug LEDs
It's just a matter of things not being connected for some reason or something is dead at this point
The single stick should be in a2 but worth a try if a memory channel is dead for some reason
could be worth re-seating the CPU, maybe not good contact
Hmm
Okay I will try those
It didn't work
Thanks for your help though
I guess I got screwed
did you reseat the cpu?
you could try to RMA it with asus
do they accept returns like my situation?
RMAs aren't returns, it's like you're exchanging a broken one for a new one
Because it seems to be Dead on Arrival, not your fault
Or they fix the item
What are some ways to tell if a motherboard is good or bad?
I mainly just look at the reviews for a motherboard, but the ones I pick are seen as awful by other people
just post it here, reviewers are mainly just "does it boot? Yes? Its a good mobo"
is there any cpu that won't bottle neck minecraft(vanilla) and 3090(like bring 3090 to 99% usage)...
No. It's extremely cpu reliant and my overclocked 5800X keeps my 3090 around 35-40%.
^^
which client did u use? and how much is the avg fps then?
Client doesn't matter
Java edition, vanilla. FPS will vary as the world chunks load but I'll get a new world and let you know.
It's the same for all minecraft, short of you ray tracing
it does
ALOT
Laby vs default vs badlion will have the same usages
what about lunar client? give it a try(keep 8 chunks rende distance)
It's still the same game
And why does it matter anyways? I get like 400fps with a 3600 and 3060 ti
I'd care more about perf in other games
110-120 fps on 1440p max settings
There's no cpu you'll reach 0 bottleneck with a 3090 on minecraft
hmm surprising. thnx
im just being curious
5950x isnt gonna be amd's last cpu u know.. better will come
yes
It'll be a couple generations before a game like minecraft that is heavily cpu bound will use a full 3090
okok
Even the upcoming zen 3 refresh won't make that much difference, maybe 10% if we're lucky
ya this conv is hgoing no where lmao..Thanks for responding
the cpu with the highest single core performance.. that's what it needs
ok im dun
Here's some hard data for you, single thread performance ranked and the score difference between them https://www.cpubenchmark.net/singleThread.html
There's 100 points difference between my CPU and the absolute top, 3500 to 3600
Apple M1 doesn't count
Time to overclock
I'm sure if I ran it myself I'd score higher, I'm just going by published results
Thank you SO much
ye
What's the best mobo to pair with an Intel i7 9700k🤨
Would say a Z390 chipset if you plan to overclock
Or coffee mod a z170/z270
I saw one at a local store for 150 usd
I think it's pretty cheap
Only get it if you can get like a board around that price too

best motherboard for threadripper pro?
Asus ROG Zenith II Extreme
That's what google says
yeah
That does not support Threadripper Pro does it?
That's for older Threadripper CPUs ain't it?
Also what do you need Threadripper Pro for?
tr pro uses something else
swrx8 apparently
super expensive mobos
costs like 1k
@severe skiff why threadripper pro btw?
WRX80 SAGE would be the best board
inb4 "cuz 3090"
Lmao
Isn't new threadripper coming in like a few weeks tho?
Is it?
gonna shred xeons again
Sad no tr pro on pcpp :l
yeah it's
rare stuff
cause basically no one apart from companies will be buying em
Yeah, sadge
the price makes my heart skip a beat tho
ik it's 64c/128t and all
but damn is it expensive
even mobo is also spensiv
Funny thing is no chipset even
huh, it has no chipset?
Tr has no chipset full stop
wow
Just all to the cpu
999 bucks
well yeah they better give us a screwdriver if the mobo is 999

it has wifi
why am i surprised
Only 16 usb ports?
yeah
super stealth build in this. zero RGB. even all LEDs should be painted with a black marker
its what i currently have
relly? dang!
i bought the lenovo workstation it came with and upgraded the rtx quadro to a 3090
yeah ive been looking at the asus wrx80 mobo for a while now
what quadro did it have?
are you sure your dell chassis will accept standard motherbaords?
im upgrading to a new case
oh, well thats good
Fair enough just spensive
Hey so im@having trouble with booting speed and my games will not load such as rainbow six siege granted I do have a hard drive but it has never been this bad would anyone maybe knwo my problem I’ve tired cleaning updating everything and still no luck
Also I use my pc rarely this is the first tome in like 7 months I’ve played on it
Probably should run a chkdsk
Also this isn't the storage chat
Type "command" into the windows search bar, right click command prompt, and click run as administrator
From there a black box should pop up on your screen
Ok thank you
Hey I have an intel CPU, the top side of the substraight has a minor chip in the corner of it, will it still work?
Can ya dm me the pic?
I'll look for you
Anyone have experience with the Aorus x570 Master MOBO constantly crackling/popping with USB Audio devices? Drivers don't seem to help at all so just wanted to see if anyone had a success story 😆
Have you tried updating the bios? And making sure it's not just one port on the board, as well as trying the device on a different pc/laptop to make sure its not the audio device that's broken
USB issues are platform level for Ryzen, and happen more on X570. Pato is right, bios update usually helps.
I'll take a look to see where my BIOS is currently and will let you know results. (Sadly it does seem every usb port is the same) let's pray to the BIOS gods
Thats a common problem with the X570 aorus master
Ive talked to other guys on audio and recording related servers and all of them that had an aorus master x570 had problems with USBs dropping in and out
@turbid forge
I dont have the board so i cant test it but i didnt have those problems on any other x570s ive used in the past

Reason: Too many infractions
wtf is this
which cpu does that support BRUH
threadripper?
this stuff is mad bruh
Yes threadripper
Pc powers on np with a 650w psu, but will not with a 850w or 1000w psu. Bad resistor on the mobo?
I bought a kit of 32gb 3600 Mhz Patriot Viper Steel RGB. Using a Ryzen 5 2600 and the pc won't boot if I have the xmp profile on. I can't clock the memory to anything over 2666Mhz
Anyone know a fix?
Zen+ IMC can't handle faster than 3200 usually
You can do a full manual tuning but that'll take a lot of time and effort
I can't even get it to run 3000
Would I have to calculate timings just for 3000 Mhz?
Yes
Wow
You can't just turn up the speed and cross your fingers
You can try setting it to 1.35v, 3200 speed, with these primary timings and see if it boots
Ooh I'll definitely try that when I finish up what I'm working on
Thanks
That's a shame. I spent a couple hours today trying to update the BIOS but all to no success. Went through the process but stayed as f30 vs the latest of f34 for the firmware. Going to take a crack at it again tomorrow and see if the qflash process works out. It's a shame about the board since the rest of this build is mint 👌
How can I tell if my mobo is compatible with PCIe 4.0?
What mobo is it?
Not really sure. It's a prebuilt from 2018
What processor did it come with? That can be a clue
Intel i5-8400 2.80 GHz
Nope
welp, looks like my SSD will be capped. that's a shame
Not actually, pcie 4.0 isn't even utilized lol
Any consumer SSDs won't saturate pcie 3.0 right now
Or in the future as the m.2 form factor is the limiting factor for how much heat they can put out
They're tiny, so they're dense
They could only get so fast before they have to rely on say, liquid cooling
Which some SSDs are already doing that
On sequentials some can, but that's a rare case
ye
That's a rare case
But sequential doesn't really matter in real life usage tbh
Randoms sure will probably never hit that limit
Oh yeah the controller is usually the limit there, occasionally the nand itself
ye
Bon jour and a question, thanks for the help.
Does 5900x have hyperthreading, I need that for a game 😛
I mean I need to know if it has or it doesn't, so I know what settings to use.
3 dimm slots for ram interesting
Yes it do
Thank you.

How good are these things? Can they be trusted for what it is? I've always hated the way the cable comes straight out from the motherboard because it's just awkward to try and cable manage it
guys i think i need a driver update
I think you need an everything update
That's just a default date, processor driver doesn't get updated
^
Meant a pc hardware update xD
Well yes that too
nice 370 board
also this board

looks so good
It's my grandads, asus x something
Damm
On the back it has throttling as a marketing point, and had 333mhz cpu on the back too
Ddr 400 was well or something lol
that looks ugly
Does this look like its modern in any way lel
That would be single channel x3
pretty sure its a ddr board
@vast meadow is this board overkill for an 11600k?
I got the board in a bundle. Trying to figure out if I'll use it or sell it.
which board ?
its fine for a 11600k
No harm using it like, but also it would be perfectly fine on a 160$ board
Why would anyone need 4 gen 4 m.2 slots?
¯_(ツ)_/¯
Would using it for a 10850k disable those like on some boards or would it drop down to gen 3?
RAID 10
so I bought the
ABS Master Gaming PC - Intel i5 11400F - GeForce RTX 2060 - 16GB DDR4 3000MHz - 512GB Intel M.2 NVMe SSD build and I was wondering what HDD's are compatible with the cables provided in the build and what else I might need to get in installed IE cables I would need to purchase and whatnot. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
also what size HDD because I purchased a 1tb seagate Barracuda HDD and it did not fit in the tray nor where the cables compatible.
Any sata drive should fit, and there's also M.2 slots. It's just a matter of finding where they go.
The tray that the HDD didn't fit on, was it the one on the back of the motherboard or under the bottom shroud?
I just built a pc for a customer who needed 4 gen 4 drives in raid 0 for stupid fast IO storage
Oh
What kind of test can I do to see if my socket is getting power from the cpu power connections on the mobo itself?
For context I've been trying to get my computer back up after having an issue with it powering on. I've gotten it to turn on and light up but the debug lights are showing that there's no cpu installed, I've tested the cpu in another system and that system boots right up and the bios recognizes exactly what cpu it is
its most likely not just power, but detection of some sort on the motherboard
Turning on the system and letting it run for a second, my debug lights stay lit on the one for cpu, my debug screen stays at 00, and the cpu doesn't heat up at all (booted with no cooler on as I've been trying different cpus)
Have you checked The ram?
@coral moon repeated ram, removed cmos battery, replaced cmos battery, tried different cpu, tried different psu. Almost everything I can and still shows as no cpu detected
@loud escarp have you checked to make sure the socket on the motherboard is getting power?
That's what I'm asking how to check
I would assume not because the cpu is still cold to the touch after about 3-5mims of the system being on (tested with no cooler attached)
Do you have access to a second power supply?
3 at my disposal and same thing for each. System powers on but cpu stays cold with debug saying there's no cpu detected
All 3 are different wattage and brands
Do you have access to different CPUs?
The one in system and another. Both worked as both showed up in the second system's (one I've been using to test the cpus) bios and are recognized. Both are totally fine in the second system
Have you tried different rem?
I've got a 4x 8gb kit from crucial and a 2x 8gb kit from gskill
Both show up and function in second system, both have their rgb light up and have no burnt pins
What mother boy is it?
So it's gonna make a lot of sense
My system has a x570 aorus master Rev 1.2
Second system have a asrock b450m steel legend
Can you get into the bios?
On the x570 I cannot
@loud escarp It’s possible the sockets damaged making the motherboard dead
What happened when it stopped working?
I’ll let you know if I come up with anything new but I think your out of luck
@coral moon a few nights ago I powered down my system cause I was gonna be gone for a while, I come back about 6 hours later and go to turn it on when it just didn't want to turn on at all
Reason: Too many infractions
What is the best and cheapest intel itx mobo
Those words dont go together
_<
Reason: Bad word usage
Reason: Too many infractions
For what cpu?
10400f
^
You in the us?
No
Where?
Gc
Gc?
Like what site would you use to buy the board ?
Newegg or amazon or any site that deliver to my country
Cuz i planning to minimize my current pc
Then the board i just sent
No, just get that one anyway, it's the cheapest b560/h570/z490/z590
Only boards that don't lock the ram speed
But someone told me when u will upgrade u will need to change a-lot of things
Like i put more money to buy those mobo
And then when i will upgrade like to batter cpu or gpu i will need to buy another one
Can you return it lol?
What that i can return?
The ram
I will take all the things and put it to itx
Case
Do B&H ship to my country
Or only us
Idk
Ok
In stock in newegg same price
So h510 is the choice
It will do
What the ram speed do?
b560 best tbh
increses the speed of the ram
So i can know what i will lose
Yeah put what the different i will get from 2666 to 3200
Not if all they have is 2666 ram lol
Decent amount 1 sec
What do u mean
Noticeable amount of difference
I was talking if they had b560
Yis
What would u go for
Depends if you are gonna buy new ram
If it’s u
Like for u
Which one you will do
Only mobo h510
Or 560 mobo and 3200 ram
Up to you
I know put for u
I would do b560 and new ram if you can but ¯_(ツ)_/¯
Wether it's worth it or not is different q
🤦🏽♂️
If you wanna upgrade to like a 10700 or 10900 it something in the future
Then b560
Now and keep the ram you have if you need
Until today I don’t need that upgrade coz i am only surfing internet and playing 1080p 165fps game
Not streaming or any this

Did he kick?
Bots
?
you enabled docp or xmp?
Yup
I used ryzen master and set auto oc
It's only after doing that the ram speed in windows changed to 3200
ryzen master and auto OC is garbage
But in bios it's 2133
set to default and uninstall ryzen master
Ok
By throttle you mean hang back a bit till it's cooled
yeah drop speed
if it takes a few mins to boot you dont have an ssd
if you have a hard disk in the system theres a large chance you installed to that
More sata 6 I should say
doesnt matter
do one thing
open task manager
Ok when it's done loading
send me a screenshot of this screen
Ok
Still waiting
Gonna install discord on it so the ss will be alot more informative
here
Wait you wanted the ss of the cpu tab
yeah when i went into bios the pbo was set to auto i selected enable
docp?
dont
docp on everything else ram related should be on auto
so docp and let it select the freqency automaticly?
yes
ight sir lemme change that brb
Well selected auto for frequency it went straight to 2133
go auto frequency and switch on docp
reboot back to bios after savoing
changes will take place then
ok
As for my mysterious extreme load times I'm at a lost
The only time my pc booted in few seconds was after the fresh install
After that every boot up is a 1 minute to 2
😫
how do you feel to hvae 16GB of ram sir
can z590 handle two graphics cars like 2 3080?
Yeah, even B560 could. As long as it has enough PCIe slots.
And as long as you have a psu that can handle the power
If not you'll either have an unstable system or kill everything in the process
Like 16GB ....
As long as the spacings for the x16 slots are okay and have like 3 spaces in between, no use doing it for gaming tho, only useful if you want to mine with them
please dont tell me you gonna try SLI bridging them

3080 doesnt have an sli bridge
i know

sli bridge was a connector
its physically not present on a 3080
because nvidia stopped supporting it
nvidia still supports it on gpus that have an sli bridge
so wrong
they still support it
not on newer ones
you cant start or stop supporting something that isnt a thing XD
so they didnt start or stop supporting sli bridge on newer cards
this is giving me english vocabulary exam vibes
they just didnt include it anymore?
.
ah i see
thats a 3080 PCB
2080 pcb
that up there is the nvlink bridge slot on the 2080
see how its completely missing on the 3080?
got it
3090 has sli
nvlink right?
Yeah but same diff i think
nvlink is far better
its like the difference between dlss 1 and 2
sli bridge vs nvlink that is
Really?
Hmm
that chart kinda bad tho
gv100 and gp100 are already better than 1080ti solo
who knows how much of the gain came from nvlink
yes but you can see solo perf as well
yes but different cards comparing conventional sli and nvlink, where conventional sli card is much worse solo
fair fair
That's what i was thinking, wouldn't really make sense unless you get cards with equal perf solo
sadly that isnt a thing
Ik which kinda makes iffy
Turing and ampere nvlink is neutered compared to real nvlink, its closer to sli than nvlink
The "real" nvlink lets you share vram between cards
Can't see the ver number but for 4gbit dies that is good
For what cpu tho?
Ahh
If you're taking out any current sticks it's not a problem them
What speed are they tho?
Any one here have knowledge about gaming laptop?
What about them
What's your budget and use-case?
I need that is give me for shooter games 144mhz
Budget about 1100-1200 $
I think it will be batter for me for playing anywhere any time
I thinking to sell my desktop pc to get laptop
This is an option
https://www.newegg.com/p/N82E16834233449
It is out of stock for my country
where
Bahrain
3050? 3050ti?
Cuz like 200$ more
So if i buy 1660ti is batter than 3050ti?
But 3060 is the best option
What if, hypothetically, CPU riser cable?
what if you soldered every contact to the right one
And cooler mounting would be a pain
that could work tho
have the wires coated
I’ve been noticing a good amount of FPS lag recently, and wondered if mobo drivers could cause this?
Haven’t touched the mobo drivers since I built the pc
Hey does anyone know if something like the Strix B-550-F (Linked Below) would be enough to properly accommodate a 5950x?
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/JXBhP6/asus-rog-strix-b550-f-gaming-atx-am4-motherboard-rog-strix-b550-f-gaming
because its cheaper than tr?
Because zen 3 TR isn't out yet?
if it isnt an epyc 7763 i dont wanna talk about it
jk but yeah 5950x very nais for workstations rn
its omly a leak rn
il talk whjen its a real thikng
no product yet
True, but the same data from multiple different sources means it's probably true
to answer your question: yes, the B550-F Gaming can handle a 5950X
Nah I’m asking because I remember him asking first about a 5600x then a 5900x and now the 5950x
For eg if a person need 32 gigs of ram
Is it better to have 2x16g or 4x8g ??
ok
I'd personally go 4x8 if possible, so you 100% have dual rank
yes but i would suggest an aorus elite (v2) in terms of value. however iirc b550f has thicker pcb
Alrighty, thanks guys
you dont need very crazy vrms for a 5950x
True, my build started as me toying with the idea of a relatively budget gaming build. Then, out of necessity, quickly transformed into an actual need for a workstation.
If buying b-die - get this or anything with the exact same xmp numbers. Don't buy if you plan to only run it in xmp. https://www.newegg.com/g-skill-32gb-288-pin-ddr4-sdram/p/N82E16820374189
@midnight pollen This is long overdue, but I just wanted to thank you for your chiming in when I was asking about thunderbolt port/PCIe bus bandwidth and debating between a Windows Build vs. a Mac Pro for my audio PC. I really appreciated your input as it's helped me evaluate the critical factors of this investment 🤘
I've been wanting to get an SSD for my laptop to replace the HDD. Anyone know where to find a 1TB SSD for a laptop and the best way to go about copying all of the data?
@coral owl what specific laptop?
Dif laptop dif compatibility things
Easiest way is usually just using software like macrium reflect
Just copy the partition
But copying windows weird
Its 2017 omen laptop
Specific model?
give me a sec
15-ce0xx
@coral owl do you have the model that already comes with a 128gb/256gb SSD or no
Manual isn't being very clear
Alright, looks like any m.2 key m drive should fit in there
Do you have a recommendation for a drive to get?
What's your budget
150 or so depending on what a decent one costs
P31 1tb, arguably best gen 3 drive in general, is 130$
Thank you for your help. I’m still new to PC building
Windshields' nice list
https://github.com/windshields/Gamezoid-SSD-buying-guide/blob/main/SSD tier list.md
what
Pretty sure they mean the 10k rpm HDD?
nah just go for the 200k rpm hdd its so much faster lol
200k? Is it a jet engine?
Question for Ryzen 3 3300X vs 5 3600X - when looking at benchmarks, there's about a 20% difference ... but for things like gaming (kids mostly play minecraft and a few other non-AAA titles) - how much difference is that score really in playability? Would go on an X570 board with 16gb ram (building 5 computers so, looking for cast savings without sacrificing too much)
You can save by going b550 boards too
First off, X570 can be worse than B550. You don't need the extra PCIe lanes and other addons.
4 cores vs 6 can be quite a big difference.
and well, 3300x hasn't been a good price for quite a while
if you want to go on the relatively cheap end, an option is going intel and going 10400+b560
Many modern games can use 4-6 cores, and it's good to have some threads for background stuff like discord
no, I'll stick with AMD - personal preference
I thought the 550 was older tech, thus ... worse overall ... my main computer is going to be a Ryzen 9 with a 1080, still 550 vs 570?
Playing games like minecraft, those are heavily reliant on CPU speed
B550 is actually newer than X570
Yeah, these tech companies like to use a top-down approach. They start with releasing a few high end models and lower stuff comes later.
In this case with B550 being newer it can have an updated VRM layout, which can help with high end processors and overclocking.
And it doesn't have the USB dropout issues as much
nice, and cheaper 😄
my kids don't need anything fancy, just something better than the 10yr old computers they have
i mean hdd
but my main computer, will be an upgrade from the i7-5820K system I have - so Ryzen 9 seems like a good bet
Even the 3300X will beat a chip that old, probably a FX chip?
windshields is ssd man tho
FX yes ... which is why I was comparing 3 vs 5, how much of a gain, seems like it's significant
For your main computer, probably go zen 3, 5800x/5900x kinda thing
2 kids on FX, 3 kids on Gen2 i7s lol
but r3 r5 r7 r9 branding doesn't matter as much as generation for gaming perf and all
zen 3 slaps, zen 2 is neat, zen+ is meh, zen sucky
r5 5600x beats the r7 3700x in some cases
Gaming specifically
5600x beats 3700x in most cases in gaming
5600x beats 3700x even in multi-core loads in some cases
That extra cache gets put to work
I see - though not all CPUs identify Zen# - some have it listed, some don't so hard to know which is which ... doesn't look like there's an r9 Zen3 listed on Newegg
ca
AMD is really confusing with their numbering.
Zen 3 is the 4th generation, named 5000
zen was 1XXX
zen+ was 2XXXX
zen2 was 3XXXX
zen 3 is 5XXXX
apus dont follow that tho
gotcha - nice, yea newegg has it's own search for those vs the previous gens, that's why I missed em
is i3 10100f, gigabyte b460m ds3h and 2x8gb of crucial balistic 3200mhz cl16 running at 2666mhz cl 14 good?
depends
I'd do B560 so you can actually run that speed memory
price and use case
brought before b560 release
gaming and 122 dollars total
That'll be fine for some light gaming at least, but don't expect too much
oh i have rx 6800 xt asus reference
with full mesh and 1 intake and 1 exhast and psu acting like intake
You'll probably get a CPU or memory bottleneck in that case
but performance is good enough for me since i got it total at exactly 849-850 dollars
Yeah the GPU is great, especially at that price, but there will be a lot of games that don't run the GPU at 100% like it's supposed to because the CPU can't keep up
ur not gonna get all the perf that you paid for with this gpu
i play apex on my 1440p 144hz but mostly on games like horizon and rdr2 i play on a 4k tv
Apex is heavily dependent on CPU
apex gonna run bad tbh
its smooth but i didnt install msi afterburner
RDR2 likes to have a lot of threads, so it won't like 10100 either
but its recommended specs is a 8 thread cpu?
not minimum
Those specs were published years ago, as games like this age they get more demanding. GTAV is a prime example.
ohk
but i play rdr2 on a controller so i see no stutters or i think its the controllers vibrate sension
You can run a monitoring tool while gaming to see how much the GPU is being used compared to the CPU
afterburner is fun
The charts are handy yeah
but i think it bothers me a little
real legends alt tab to task manager
it'll drop tho
since u focus on the fps the graph 1% lows
..?
it was a joke...
can u suggest some good monitoring tools
so if 550 can be better than 570, considering a r9 5950x and 1080, what should I really be looking for other than just the basic features (eg 2 m.2, wifi, bt, etc) for performance specifically - or does it not differ much despite the wide range of price points?
Afterburner has one built in, and hwinfo
msi afterburner plus rtss
For a 5950X at stock clocks, almost anything short of the cheapest cheap stuff will work. If you want to overclock you'll need to spend a bit more to have a good result.
vrms are fun
dont get a 5950x if ur only gonna be gaming btw
I'll do stock clock for a good while, though has a "turbo" value on the CPU, I'm assuming that like RAMs XMP profile (OC but predesigned) and should be supported by most boards?
5900x better for gaming
yes, but there is streaming involved, so the extra threads for that
nvenc is op for streaming
not really necessary
h264 not great
well then - ok lol
I'd say the boards in the $120-160 price range will do nicely, even for a little overclocking. It's a good sweet spot I think.
even with turbo/xmp on? cuz well .. why not 😄
damn, I thought I'd need like a 500 board at least
b550 aorus elite best bang for the buck imo for high end parts
Turbo is part of stock behavior, and XMP depends more on the memory controller in the CPU
you can go for like b550 tomahawk kinda board if you really wanna oc
not that expensive
good board
no, I don't intend to OC - I've fidled with it in the past, I just want to plug and play now 🙂
You can pick just about any of these boards and it'll work fine https://pcpartpicker.com/products/motherboard/#xcx=0&c=145&sort=price&X=11809,20195&f=2
no care
I'd say anything b550-a pro and above will work
get wd Velociraptor drives if you really want to wear ear buds
I'm partial to the tuf gaming
Moral of the story: It's up to preferences

low profile, small form factor memory
2 things a modern motherboard MUST have: good VRM heatsink, and intergated IO shield.
Think mobile phone memory
ya i saw that in a laptop's specs
nice, thx a ton guys .. helped me save some $$ 🙂
Saving some green is always nice
:)
specially when doing 6-7 machines lol
No kidding
This gets into the more technical differences
https://www.hardwaretimes.com/lpddr4-vs-ddr4-vs-lpddr4x-memory-whats-the-difference/
LPDDR4 is the mobile equivalent of DDR4 memory. Compared to DDR4, it has a reduced power consumption but does so at the cost of bandwidth. LPDDR4 has dual 16-bit channels resulting in a 32-bit total bus per DIMM. In comparison, DDR4 has 64-bit channels per DIMM. However, at the same time, LPDDR4 has a wider …
got it
technically the better a vrm, the lower the heat that is produced
*more efficient
yeah
can we just say: good VRM setup to include the VRM and their heatsinks?
so you can get by on with a worse heatsync on a top tier board running the same settings and same clocks than a bottom tier board
We use VRM to include a wide array of components related to voltage regulation, so yes
anyways, most reviews and sources will do testing for temp
not just what components
Temp is a decent indicator if you can standardize the testing
buildzoid's biostar board was a good example of good parts on paper but horrible in practice
crappy powerplane
5950x or 5900x for gaming?
5900X, it's easier to cool so it can boost longer
should i take intel into consideration?
On the high end, AMD stomps them. 11900k is more comparable to 5800X.
Mid and low end, Intel is still strong competition due to value
Yea
LOVE BIOSTAR B560
Biostar makes some of the worst quality anything out there
The b450mh started failing like 5 months after it came In my pre built
Looks like their tryna be funny
ay fellow gamers what cpu should i pair with a 3080 i got no clue
#rules no swearing or filter evading
ion know what filter evading is but aight bet
Avoiding the filter, if you said that word by itself the message would be deleted
I'd go with a 5800x/5900x/10850k
say lessss bro thanks
You're welcome ?
welp, you clearly havent seen the review.
its likely the only biostar product you should buy

Not sure if the link will work but ehhh
i mean @rehg
lemme invite
3600mhz CL16 (crucial ballistix) vs 4000mhz CL18 (g.skill trident z)
10700k and Z490 MSI motherboard
Sure
Also to clarify this is just a vrm list
VRMs are the most important part of the motherboard that isn't 100% standardized
Well glad to know my mobo has decent vrms
I'd go ballistix
Or some 3200cl16 if you don't wanna ram oc
I was leaning towards the ballistix. Saw the 4,000mhz kit and was debating. Just stacking my wishlist until one is on sale lol
Budget and use?
normal laptop
16gb ram
an i7
but all new laptops r giving an 1165g7
i am finding one with a h series
maybe a good battery life if possible
Ballistix has one of the best memory dies(nice if you want to overclock) and is usually the cheapest 3600 so I'd grab that tbh. if you don't want to oc mem I'd just grab a 3200cl16 or 3600cl18 kit that's cheapest for a 10700
for college purposes
I’d go for a Lenovo thinkpad
I wouldn't look for just i7 btw
Honestly I'd prefer something like a r5 5600h anyday over all but like the 11800h(i believe that's the name)
I have ASUS Prime X570 motherboard with R5 3600. Do you guys think ASUS Prime sounds too cheap and not reliable?
..?
I mean...for ASUS Prime motherboard, how's the quality overall?
have you already bought them?
I'm using it now, but I see some feedback saying that it's better off to go for TUG Gaming or even ROG motherboard...
I see...
not recommended of course, but youve already got it
Prime boards are fine but i wouldn't buy that board, youd be better off with a b550(m) tuf
they already bought it lol
I saw that after i sent the message lol
oh
next time, i'll aim for at least TUF Gaming motherboard. lesson learned
well i wouldnt go after a brand line per se,
once you decide to upgrade, who knows what new boards will come put
Well next time things might have changed, and usually the chipet(b550 x570 etc ) is an important factor as well, so when you cpu upgrade, I'd recommend just asking here again for advice, but i wouldn't upgrade a 3600 for gaming yet
yeah...maybe my next upgrade probably would be 5+ year later...
i guess i built my PC was kinda in rush bc the motherboard of my old build (ASUS Z87-K motherboard with i5 4650K CPU) died in February last yr...so I just picked whatever was more affordable at that time...
Fair enough
I wouldn't wait 5 plus unless you use the pc fairly casually tbh but you might not want to spend more money either so
just being curious, how often do you guys upgrade or even rebuild the PC?
i have a laptop

looking to build when ALDER LAKEEEEEEEE COMES OUT
OISUDOIUSODIUOSUDIOSUODSUIOSIDUISDJ
Osu
Good luck with ddr5
SHUT THE P UP
isn't z690 supposed to support both ddr4 and ddr5
I wanna see how hot the Alder Lake CPU is heehehe
arshia leak says 12900k better than 5950x
no I will no submit myself to pain that is ram oc
Ddr4 on 12th is gonna suck, but it will be like some h610 boards that might, they did this with ddr3 to ddr4 and it sucked
how come
Lol
Go do it so I don't have to try to do ram oc again >:D
I do bit by bit kinda, I've an r5 3600 but will probs go to 13th gen intel/am5 when upgrading
Reason: Bad word usage
Tbf all we have to do is ask arshia and they'll tell us the magical numbers to change
Scam?
Scum?
AMD 6th gen Ryzen will come out next yr, right?
by then raptor lake will be out tho
or soon
Thankfully i never used one but 1 bit is ram bandwidth matters
Who knows what kinda implementation will be used this time
hey question so the asus rog strix b550-e motherboard i have has terrible wifi and my friend's strix b550-f does too since the intel
internet chips are horrible. anyone have any advice on a similarly spec'd board that has actually working wifi? i spent almost a month rma'ing my board only to have asus send me a replacement board that still has the same issue
like my internet speeds are (at max) 3mbps download. great upload speed tho at 50 mbps
Uh, Intel wifi chips are generally pretty decent, how is your wifi on other devices?
averaging around 30-40 mbps download
Did you have antennas?
the chip is an Intel(R) Ethernet Controller I225-V
yeh, on wifi i get around 20 mbps
Reason: Bad word usage
Did you install drivers?
yeh made it worse
Intel Ethernet gets slightly worse reputation
dropped down to barely 1 mbps
yep
the rma failed because of parts shortage which is fair but also the board they sent me as a replacement still has terrible ethernet ;-;
Prob sent you back same board..?
nah, different serial number
already tried it 😦
yep
Sfc and dism?
what does that mean--
OH yeah asus support told me to do a clean install of windows and i did that??
General fix for random windows problems
From an admin command prompt or powershell, run:
sfc /scannow
If that doesn't work, try:
dism /online /cleanup-image /checkhealth
dism /online /cleanup-image /scanhealth
dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
Then, try running sfc again.
Repeat as necessary
sick lemme run that real fast!
okay it said it found corrupt files and fixed them gonna do a restart
Try it
Hm
:XMARK6: anthonyyki, that command is disabled in this channel.
Sounds more like a cable/router/switch/modem problem
^
Could be your ISP throttling you down
Some ISPs love doing that looking at you Optimum
Question, should I get a motherboard upgrade or the oculus quest 2? Not sure which I want first
98% of the time a motherboard upgrade should only really go with upgrading the cpu
So unless you're running like an a520 board and a 5600x or something similar mobo upgrade usually useless
I forgot, had lots of numbers but it doesnt allow oc
Are you sure your cpu is limited at that?
Have you gone into a game or smthn with task manager showing cpu?
Do you mean 2900mhz?
Same thing?
I believe most mobos when they limit ram do it at 2666mhz or 2133mhz
But yeah says clock speed is 2900mhz
Ram is normally called mhz not ghz
Ghz* whatever term is better
Can you dm me what mobo you have?
I can after school
Would it happen to be biostar?
What cpu do you have?
@naive pendant
I7-10700f
Base speed is 2.9 and turbo is 4.8
Turbo is enabled
But doesnt go past 2.9 anyways
Is turbo overclocking?
I'm not too familiar with max turbo
Turbo is the safe you can ""oc"" but without actually oc
Yeah but im tryna make it actually show its turbo readings
Aka 4.8 Ghx but task manager says @2.9ghz
Which in return bottlenecks my ram but its being limited by the mobo anyways
Bios is updated and gpu is gtx 1660ti gigabyte
Are you just gaming?
What cpu and motherboard do you have?
If you are then the cpu being limited doesn't really matter
10700f
And they can't check mobo rn
Some kinda msi that cost 70$
But my ram is being limited by like 1/4 of what I want it to run at
Runs at 2900mhz and not the 4000mhz speed, straight up doesnt allow me to go past 2900
Question
Probs like h410 then
Why get such expensive ram with a 1660ti as your gpu?
@naive pendant you in the us?
I mean you can't exactly buy those for cheaper anyway
Ehh you can grab 4000cl18 ram for like 90$
Really?
I ripped the cpu, mobo, and gpu from old prebuilt I ran for like half a year
Ah
For $1000 total with old components
Not bad
@naive pendant i woke get https://pcpartpicker.com/product/mgstt6/msi-z590-a-pro-atx-lga1200-motherboard-z590-a-pro or https://pcpartpicker.com/product/CJ8bt6/gigabyte-z590-ud-ac-atx-lga1200-motherboard-z590-ud-ac if you want wifi/Bluetooth
Ill check it in a min
I have a mobi similarly picked out to that for like $160@vast meadow
Mobo*
So in the end, should I get a new mobo or oculus quest 2 first?
Which one?
Its some mobo I bookmarked on my pv
A new mobo imo, will help a good bit
Pc*
