Some of those things there are workarounds for
and you get an activate windows watermark at the nottom right but its not noticable
bottom*
it might bother you for a little but you get used to it
goes away when you activate it
yea
Once installed you could try an eBay key and if it don’t work then hey it’s 5usd vs 100usd and eBay has good buyer protection is they cover that stuff anyway
Ofc I would only buy a digital key after I had installed windows and am ready to put it in
https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/MdKZZZ so this is my budget pc
Hi
i mean it goes over my budget like around 50 bucks
what u guys think?
but do they come with fans?
Hi there,
Anyone has information on when will they list AMD new CPUs and GPUs?
I mean in NewEgg.com
True
and big navi launch day isn't gonna get any better
so this case i got has 2
does it support matx
are all the other thinks okay tho?
things*
technically it should
nice
yeah the fractal design can support ATX, mATX, and ITX
but i just did it for the sake of some modular stuff to it
cheaping out too much on a psu is pretty bad
no i dont think so?
modular?
okay?
I had a Ryzen 2000 chip, it went unused after my mobo died... do you think Ryzen 5000 is worth the upgrade or should I wait for the new 5nm process and the new socket?
hmmmmm
Im working on a ryzen build and have a 32gb kit of cmw32gx4m2c3200c16 but my mobo QVL shows that only the cmw32gx4m2z3200c16 kit is compatible. Sure enough when you enable xmp the system refuses to boot. From what I've found on the web and from forums is that they are essentially the same kit of ram with different sub timings. I've played around with the timings a little bit and was able to get in to windows but kept having blue screens. Was wondering if anyone had the sub-timings for the cmw32gx4m2z3200c16 kit i could try to see if they would make this cmw32gx4m2c3200c16 kit work on this board
Hey Guys , Wanted To Ask A Question , I Will Be Using Ryzen 5 3600XT + GTX GeForce 1660 Super + 6 ARGB FANS and A Full Size ATX MoBo , I Am Tight On Budget And Only Have A 450W CoolerMaster 80+ White Certified PSU , will It Cause Any Harm? , I won't be OCing Anything
Yup , But I Am Tight On Budget , So Was Only Able To Get A 450W psu
Will It Run Or Cause any Problems?
do u know how much wattage each component takes up
hi
alright then
maybe try and find a 500w psu that's about the same price as the 450w, you never know
would a 2060 super ryzen 9 5900x on a 650W powersupply work?
also im upgrading to a 3080 later
I have a AsRock B450 Pro4 and bought 16 GB Cucial Ballistix RGB 3600MHz RAM but i dont know if it runs smothly on this Board. Is there somebody who knows whats the max. speed support is for this mobo?
Depending on the processor either 2933 or 3200
r5 2600x
pinnacle ridge is 3200
ok thanks
Hey Guys , Wanted To Ask A Question , I Will Be Using Ryzen 5 3600XT + GTX GeForce 1660 Super + 6 ARGB FANS and A Full Size ATX MoBo , I Am Tight On Budget And Only Have A 450W CoolerMaster 80+ White Certified PSU , will It Cause Any Harm? , I won't be OCing Anything
@languid jacinth wait 2 days for Ryzen 5000
Ryzen 5000 is so far ahead of everything else tho
but more expensive...
since hes on a budget i figure he's better buying a 3600 and a new psu
I suppose so
btw, i just found out that my mobo doesnt recognize dragoncenter installed... my rgb doesnt work... i have a b550 tomahawk. any ideas?
I don’t have rgb so idk
simple answer
delete dragon center
install mystic lights separately
Dragon center kind of sucks.
cannot do that on latest models...
You sure?
I've been using mystic lights on my b450 pro carbon ac
Try the download link here
https://www.msi.com/Landing/mystic-light-rgb-gaming-pc/
that should get you mystic lights separately
it's supported until 400 series mobo...
ill try anyway tho...
yep, doesnt support 500 series
wonder why
ryzen 5 2600x on a320? need help fesst
Guess they needed to keep people on dragon center somehow
ryzen 5 2600x on a320? need help fesst
@fallow junco
wdym?
i dont think that's compatible...
no, sorry, it should be, but it may vary depending on models...
im not sure for a series, but b and x series for sure support that processor
I have a intel core i7 9700k and a gtx 1070, what motherboard do you recommend
Asus TUF gaming z390, thats what i have paired with a 9600k and 1660
what are the chances biden wins
kind of off topic but 9/10 according to 538
@naive pendant its compatible just my only worry is power delivery
oh, should be fine
can i clean my old thermal paste using hand sanitizer?
i have an r5 3600 and an rx580, should i upgrade my gpu?
upgrade to radeon 6000 if you can afford it
is it just me or are the intel motherboards more expensive than the amd motherboards
can i clean my old thermal paste using hand sanitizer?
@shut wasp just use alchool
i dont have one
if you dont have alcohol could try a wet cloth, tho you have to be careful water does not evaporate as fast
no touching anything other than heatspreader and use very little, you dont want it to get on the board
i would still highly reccomend you get rubbing alcohol
Rubbing alcohol, not wine or something
XD Could you imagine?
Just going to pour some red on here, the tannins will get all that dirt off
well vodka is pretty close to rubbing alcohol
depends on the Vodka I suppose
Im sure barcardi 151 is also a good cleaning solution
for kitchen sinks maybe, not human bodies XD
you can also wipe thermal paste off with a dry towel it just takes longer
☝️ In all seriousness this is the best option if you don't have rubbing alcohol
just takes patience
Rubbing alcohol is fairly common though, not too expensive, and just a good cleaning product to have anyways
it was hard to find lately around me due to the virus shortages
just grabbed a bottle of 91% yesterday when I saw one actually
It was hard to find a couple months ago cause of the virus, but now everything is up to normal stock
Unlike nvidia
lol
airhorn
Alrighty, I'm trying to figure out if I can/if it's worth it for me to buy a m.2 to pcie adapter. I've got a ASRock 760GM-HDV mobo and I can't seem to figure out if I'm going to be able to boot from a ssd installed as such. Or if it's just going to be a steam library.
if the motherboard supports booting from pcie devices than it should work
I'm guessing the easiest way to find that info is to go to my bios, yeah?
I'm not sure where I can find this info currently
@finite sigil yeah according to this forum needs bios version 2.90P so you might need to flash bios
thank
b450 pro4 from asrock or an a320 for the same price?
What processor
b450 pro4 would get my vote
^
B450 pro4
im trying to make a generic test bench
I mean doesnt the a320 only have 2 dimm slots
no there are 4 dimm
might help to know which a320
so i have a ryzen 5 1600 and am wanting to upgrade to a ryzen 7 2700x but my mobo is a ASRock A320M-HDV R4.0 Micro ATX, do i get a new mobo too?
unless you found some frankenstein chinese one it should only have 2 dimm slots
Lmao
oof
well I didnt think there was an a320 with 4 slots but I wanted to make sure
actually screw the a320 im interested in the Gigabyte B450M DS3H vs b450 pro4
much better choices
I choose the b450 pro4 simply because it has 2 m.2 slots as opposed to 1
what about vram or what its call
they are very similar motherboards in respect to everything else including vrms
are they compatible with the 3400g?
I think the pro4 also has a slightly better sound card built in and yes they will both work with a 3400g
like out of the box or with a bios update?
you might need to flash the bios
depends on if gigabyte is updating them in house prior to sending out
only the msi ones can boot without a cpu in the socket
do i even need a cpu with an msi board?
lol yeah it can only flash bios without a cpu
yes
is it comparable to an x470 gaming plus max msi?
canada is kind of wierd for pc part prices
ikr
so are you saying the x470 is cheaper than the b450 pro4?
i think so
well if it is then go for it
prices in canada are jacked
its twice the price in the USA
in canadian monies that b450 would cost 100CAD and the x470 would cost in 209CAD in the USA
I would get the x470 for the price
they were both max
ye
and that just means what i was talking about earlier with bios updates
yes
with a possible bios update maybe 5000
maybe no confirmation on the 5000 compatibilty
but between those two boards which one comes out on top?
@hollow thorn what do you think x470 gaming plus max or B450 pro4 or B450 bazooka max wifi ? (weird canada pricing so dont consider cost)
he seemed to like the idea of it
LOAD GOD DAMN IT LOAD
wifi is nice to have but not mandotory
dont load
am sad
use light mode version
😦
it's the light mode version
sad
make your own
wish me luck
aight
I still lean towards the x470 if they were all the same price or something
yes
Y E S
so msi made a b450 version
b450 gaming plus max vs x470 gaming plus max they both come really close with similar specs
So if your board doesn’t have wifi what’s the best solution
Besides Ethernet cable
get a wifi and bluetooth pcie adapter?
gigabyte and TP-link make good wireless cards and they're pretty cheap
Like how cheap
hehe i ahve ram no one else has
can connect to those small pcie slots near the gpu slots
well looks its corsair ram but no one else has this looking ram
yeah
or explaining
i cant send images
tell me the name
so its corsair vengeance led right
uh huh
but then i took off the thing that disrupts the RGB strip
so it looks like veangenace RGB ram now
?
A good wireless adapter is https://pcpartpicker.com/product/6Zs8TW/asus-pce-ac55bt-b1-none-wi-fi-adapter-pce-ac55bt-b1 the reviews say it’s super fast
i have the ax200 which is good
Btw make sure that your wifi adapter is actually compatible with your type of wifi
In my case i have 802.12a/b/g/n/ac wifi
where can i puit a parts list to ask if its good
I think build chat
@gentle river #building-and-recc-chat would be the place :)
Hey does Ryzen 5000 come out tomorrow or the next day?
Okay lol I gotta figure out those internet specs then before I get an adapter
Hey does Ryzen 5000 come out tomorrow or the next day?
@graceful parcel the 5th
so the day after trw
Okay cool thanks
welcome
I want to make sure I can be there at the right time
Hopefully they don’t have the same problems graphics launches have had, or at least not as bad
Good
I had a 3070 in my cart at launch before it went out of stock
If I got that far I can get a Ryzen on time
With the 3080 I was there, then I hit refresh and they were out
Also, this’ll be the first time my pc isn’t just connected with an Ethernet cable, I’m worried about how bad it’ll be in comparison
Good luck on your end
I’m on my phone for the time being since my laptop died
Finally a reason to build
My pc blew up like 4 months ago, but everybody told me to wait
I literally had a 3900x in hand, but returned it cause everyone said wait for the 5900x lol
Yeah im glad I waited but also getting a little impatient now
I don’t even have a laptop or a console or anything
I literally just have my phone, and an old Super Nintendo
I should’ve just kept the 3900x and gotten a 2080 super or something
I’ve got a switch so I’ve played through the virtual console version a couple times since my laptop died
Yeah I’ve been playing tons of super Metroid and link to the past lol
But now the 20 series is expensive
It is now, but I would’ve been getting it 3 or 4 months ago
Right
hey are any of u guys getting the new cpus?
Imma get the Ryzen 5600x
I’m gonna get 5900x
planning on to buy it on new egg?
I’ll be looking at Newegg unless there’s another better place
I only have my phone to use
So Newegg would be the fastest place to buy things for me
Newegg and Amazon if they have it there at launch
What are all if the places it’s gonna be available
its like my first time buying like this can any one tell how its done or do i have to wake up on 4 am or something xd
There’s no micro center in my state
is adorama a trustable company?????
Depends on where you live and when they choose to launch it
Yeah
Depends on where you live and when they choose to launch it
@silent sandal
5th isnt it?
Yes, but the time
nov 5th?
My dad is a photographer and he’s gotten some of his stuff in adorama @naive pendant
okay thank you!
Np
what is one thing you should never do to your motherboards and cpu
Eat them
u guys just wait for the email and go to the retailers or does AMD release the date and the time?
well i think someone in my family might die soon lol
so my 1 year older brother took out the cpu from my dads pc and pulled out a few pins then put thermal paste ON the motherboard socket
he doesn't know anything about computers and thought he could "fix" it
because it crashes a few times
RIP my brother
Lmao
Um what??
Dude why would you kill him you can afford a new pc if you sell him
Well time to get a new motherboard and cpu
I am in pain
i walked in on him "fixing" the pc and im like "what the f are you doing?!"
and he THROWS the cpu in the pc probably scratching or denting something
then he sits in front of it and says "nothing"
chuck that child like a spartan would
Yeah
he's OLDER than me
Didn’t you say he was 1
by one year
Omg
older by one year than me
What’s with people not researching how to do something before they do it if it’s completely foreign to them
i know right

It’s one thing to be like, “this is worthless im gonna take it apart carefully to learn more about it” and then there’s “I have no clue what I’m doing or how much this is worth but who cares let’s go in guns blazing”
what was the specs
he probably fried something
i now want to die
some msi x570 and a ryzen 9 3900 with a 2080, i built it for him since he needed a powerful work and editing station
thing is the 2080 was kinda faulty
thats what caused the crashing that my brother tried to "fix"
Oof
Computer crashes a couple times: can’t possibly be drivers or software issues, i guess it’s time to get our hands greasy and pull some wires
no it wasn't any driver or software problem
Ah
a day later i realised the 2080 was kinda screwed
Oof
whats your computers specs
i mean the other stuff is fine but i need a new mobo cpu and gpu now
didnt i tell u?
i dont have my own pc yet
most of the parts were from my friend since he builds pc's with his dad a bunch
cool
he said he still had to profit so he just gave me a big discount
the gpu was from ebay tho
k
So guys I'm in need for some help. I built a pc back in February. R5 3400G 4C/8T and 2x8 3200Mhz Crucial on a Gigabyte B450m ds3h. It's powered by one of the Microcenter's 80+ Bronze psu.
It was mainly built for school stuff, development and ethical hacking. No plans of gaming at all.
Recently I got into gaming after 4-5 years, started with Valorant, looking forward to playing Mafia, Cyberpunk, GTA. I do plan to get a SIM racing setup some time in future. So I was thinking of getting a 5600XT. But how much of a bottleneck will the 3400G be? And if it is going to be a bottleneck will that render the 5600XT useless?
@ember fiber it will be a fine card, no bottleneck
quick question. has anyone experienced this?
last time i worked on a pc, i had an issue where the cpu would stick to the cooler (i think because of the paste) and the cooler would rip the cpu out of the socket. i secured the cpu correctly but it kept coming out when i took the cooler off.
That has happened to me before. At first I thought the cpu wasn’t held correctly in the socket but the system worked. So it should be fine. Just be careful and don’t let that happen for the risk of breaking a pin on the CPU just wiggle the cooler until it comes off without the cpu.
right. i wasnt sure if it was a weird one-off thing or not. i was stressing really badly while trying to put it all back together
granted, it was my friend's prebuilt walmart pc
What do you guys think of the evga 1060 ftw
is their any real value in lower ram cache latency in a stock / low oc clocked system, for example
A) https://www.newegg.com/g-skill-64gb-288-pin-ddr4-sdram/p/N82E16820232865
B) https://www.newegg.com/g-skill-64gb-288-pin-ddr4-sdram/p/N82E16820232869
both 3600 but cas 16 vs 18 for a $60 difference
maybe to add a little context if necessary, with a higher end cpu like 3900x / 5900x
Should I get the 5800x or 5900x for gaming at 1080p
you should wait for reviews.
@urban cosmos and @slate meadow both of you should try and remember to "twist" the cooler instead of pulling
no matter how old/new the paste is that is :)
Yep
that wont put too much pressure on the pins of the cpu?
its "in" a frame that secures it and protects it from sideaway forces like that
try running the pc for a little before trying, warm/hot paste will separate easier *obviously turn the power off before trying to remove the heatsink though
thank you ❤️ @gritty meadow @spare marsh
you are very welcome
i had the same issue, spend 10 minutes with a hair dryer, which I do not recommend as you can then overheat the cpu and dmg it
I currently have a Ryzen 9 3900xt that I am not using and am looking for a motherboard. The question that I am wondering about is what x570 motherboard should I get (I need to get one with wifi (or a wifi card) because I cant get ethernet to my room because it is too far from the router). I am planning on doing a mostly white build in my black case but will eventually change cases as well.
what ur budget
probably at most around $250-275
Thanks!
I am planning on doing so light video editing and after effects work but also alot of gaming, I am wondering if I should just get 2x16 and then eventually after a few months get another 32gb or if I should just get 4x8gb sticks. (planning on getting trident z neo cause ill be using ryzen (3600mhz)).
not like its the most important thing but I would prefer to have it because id want to have all my stuff match my colorscheme (which varies at times).
yeah but neo is built for ryzen and corsair for their white rgb pro and it costs like $45 more
and neo is rgb im pretty sure
I know the tridentz neo 3600 cl16 are like 115 for 2x8gb
Idk about the 2x16 kit though
Probably overpriced
yeah ill either get 2x16 (if I get corsair) and then get dummies until I get another 32gb or ill just get 4x8
z royal is 176 32 gb
It’s 3600mhz and cl16 the price doesn’t fall the same even with minor performance differences
cl19
should I get 2x16 or 4x8? cause i wont really need 64 and 32 would probably be more than enough
Probably 2x16
2x16
Gives you the option to go 4x16 in the future
mhm
its cheaper and usually better so you can expand later
2x32

@torpid pecan the whole "built for" on ram is just marketing having a field day
and on the topic of stick size, as few as you can for now
because it makes it so much simpler to upgrade down the line
I read somewhere online that when you have a large amount of RAM, high speeds can have problems, is this true?
kinda
It's NOT a simple answer though.
this isn't a "64gb at 3200mhz or 32gb at 3600mhz" thing, it's much more complicated
but the answer to your question is true as a trend.
nah its just good plain old "fun" @hollow thorn
in theory, the new macs with apple silicon in them
So 32GB of 3600 speed is fine?
it's much more complicated than that
needing a crap ton of context
@stark laurel what CPU/Mobo/Specific kit of ram
I’m planning on getting a 5800x
My Mobo is a MSI MPG B550 Gaming Plus
Gimme one sec
I decided to get a 6800XT which leaves some extra room in budget
So I thought I may as well get the exact same kit of RAM to make 32GB
NZXT has a clean looking Z490 on their website but I don’t know about the performance or the ports
Also has built in WiFi
@strange arrow Are you willing to use mAtx?
NO
KILL IT
@stark laurel THROW IT AWAY
NO
NZXT MOBO BAD
and also
4x8gb 3600c16 should work on the b550 gaming plus
mATX boards fit in ATX cases btw
They do.
ASUS ROG Strix Z490-G Gaming (WiFi 6) Z490 LGA 1200 (Intel 10th Gen) SFF Micro ATX Gaming Motherboard (12+2 Power Stages, Intel 2.5 Gb Ethernet, Bluetooth v5.1 and Aura Sync) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B087YTNRKN/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_TrCOFbANHHZJW
This was one of the best z490 boards according to GN
It’s mAtx though
yea buildzoid just like joined GN at some point
who knows if he's even getting paid
No he’s paying them to be apart
Oof
Lol
okai
Is it bad
NZXT motherboards all have trash bios
@strange arrow
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B087DDZ517
bro
And bad thermals
is a asus prime b450m plus good emnough for a ryzen 7 3700
@hollow thorn wdym throw it away?
mesh? unthinkable
@stark laurel throw NZXT out of the window as an option
just
don't bother
Oh I thought you were telling me to throw out my RAM
lol no
🤣
NZXT motherboards are like bottom of the barrel
My RAM is good?
yes
Ok thanks.
but yea aorus elite has good vrms
Yeah I have a gigabyte mobo now. It’s not too bad
Software kinda garbage but otherwise it’s cool
no mainstream bios can compare with nzxt
idc what bios you have
at least it ain't nzxt bios
a bios that barely works
I've been told XMP doesn't even exist as an option on some for some reason
or just doesn't work
just switches itself back off
just don't bother
but yea
Gigabyte, Asus, MSI bioses are actually good afaik
Some people dislike Asus bios for the layout
Also will AMD smart access memory work on a B550?
some don't like MSI bios for the color
I might’ve already asked that
I prefer Asus but my wallet doesn’t
Lol
But wallet wants you to get what you want, which is asus
Does anyone know if ryzem cpus are affected by black friday sales?
prob
Did they ever fully disclose what happen to msi ceo?
@midnight pollen Nah, i stick with gigabyte for this round
$300 difference in price for mAtx board
Lol
Z390 severely lacking in options there
Not the new ryzen, maybe the old go on sale
nah
hey i need help
Can you mix ram kits?
No. I have the oloy warhawks rn and I was wondering if I could put the trident z
I don’t have them I was just curious
Idk. Would they need to be?
Why are you considering mixed ram @burnt notch ?
Usually it’s best to match ram exactly
Otherwise you can run into xmp issues at best or stability issues at worst
Because I didn’t know when I first bought my ram and then I did research and saw that there was better ram out there so I was wondering if I could put the better stuff with my ok stuff
Ya know
doubtful its worth replacing ram for speed alone, unless your needing more capacity
When do reviews come out for the 5800x and 5900x then
Probably a day or two before launch
Well it's in 2 days
Check back tomorrow
Will do
Since I’m going to be buying a 6800XT, what would be best? Getting a 5900x, or adding 16GB more RAM?
Mixing RAM is not recommended, but sometime it can work
They were trying to match ram iirc
They already have 2x8 3600c16 ripjaws afaik
that ram you post is just rgb for 80 dollar more
Is dual channel or quad channel better
@burnt notch for the cpu's that require quad ... well they require quad
Dunno
Usually crucial has 2x32 3600c16 sticks at 250$
But couldn't find em
So good nuff
@gritty meadow what cpus require quad?
thank you for letting me know that i will go hunting
Did anybody have an answer to my question^^^^
we dont know enough to answer that question @stark laurel
wait for reviews and make a choice after that
@hollow thorn does the timing mater that much
Not that much but when you can it's good
ok
Okay so I need recommendations on how much memory I should get
Right now I have 2x16 and I’m thinking it’ll be enough, but I want to make sure
I obviously do some gaming stuff, but I also stream, I make video games, and I do a bit of simple graphic design
Would any of those need more than 32?
in theory no
but IF you need more down the line, you can always add it
so no big deal
Alright, just making sure it wasn’t too small off the bat
32 is very good
I’m running 16 lol
lol
Oh ok so it should be ther but only when it comes out?
Ryzen 3000 works on B450 boards right?
@vague siren they are a retail vendor. just like a lot of other places. they will all have it
@viscid iris with the correct bios, yes.
Yes but i know that the uk already has listings for it
difference in what is allowed per law @vague siren
and ofc prefence of the vendor in question
@gritty meadow so ill just need a bios update then? Awesome cause my 2600x died after a year of use 😭 so might aswell upgrade right?
normally yes.
check the manufacturers page for the details @viscid iris
or give me the exact model name for the mainboard
and i can check it for you
When do you think amd will have different types of the zen 3 Ryzen 5?
Like a cheaper option
q1 2021
IF the numbers are true from the press releases, they are a wee bit too busy this year to really launch anything else this year
aye
but it makes sense
because the architecture etc will have been marketed, so there is no need to "wait" on that being done
etc etc
aye aye
this has probably already been asked but do we know what time the listings will go live
just want to be prepared
listings for ryzen 5000
we dont
damn

alright so i recently bought a old dell OptiPlex 390 with a i3 2100 in it and a DIYPC Case the DIYPC DIY-F2-W White SPCC Micro ATX Mini Tower and do i need an adaptor like this to make the motherboard work?
@hidden spoke thats a usb front panel adapter
no worries :)
@gritty meadow MSI GAMING PRO CARBON AC B450 ATX
I have the box at home but im currently at work, but i swapped the CPU to a 2200G and it booted fine, prior i was getting a CPU light and tried a bunch of things from replacing the CMOS battery all the way to reseating the CPU and RAM
prior= when the 3600 was in it?
2600X yea
I was double checking if a 3000 series would work since i plan to buy a new 3600
with the 2200G in there
@hidden spoke That's simply a 90º adaptor i case the case usb 3.0 cable header has clearance issues where it cannot plug into the motherboard and must be plugged in at a different angle
Awesomeness, imma check the 2600x again in another system and hopefully it works still cause the 2200G is depressing me with how little i can play at 60 fps without maxing out usage
hello every body do you think new ryzen chips will be worth it, i currently have a 1st gen ryzen 1600 and am looking to upgrade
i will also be looking at the new mb that will be needed
i usually get most cheap one
asrock b550 phantom gaming 4 - 100
B550 still great
anyone knows if the b550 taichi is a good board idk weather or not to buy it now?
a new build im looking to do and pair it with the 5000 series cpu
What exactly about the taichi is making you want to buy it?
ive used asrock before on my other builds, but the pcie slots the 2.5 internt and the vrm heatsick kindaa sell me on it
ive been trying to look for others but it seems to be the a better choice
I mean
For the average person, it offers nothing more than a 100$ B550 PG4
What about the PCIe slots, which slots do you need?
pcie 4 would be best for the nvme storage im planning to get aswell
annd PG4 has PCIe 4.0 too
@rocky prairie it's just an example
Expensive motherboards give very little to the average consumer.
yea thats true ill check it out and go from there thanks
guys i have a doubt about buying a laptop
will a ryzen 9 4800h and rtx 2060 mobile gets bottlenecked?
Bottlenecking is not a great term
@naive pendant will it be limited in performance because of the formfactor? yes.
will it matter? that is for you to decide.
What specs in a laptop should i need to run 2060 at full perfomance
its not possible @naive pendant
(Laptop bad)
the formfactor will limit it
ohh
Suggest me good laptop?
its just thermally limited
(I'm still going to say Tuf A15)
And theoretically impossible to not have any bottlenecks.
@hollow thorn with what specs?
Laptop is bad, get real pc
Ryzen 7?
For gaming
i need it for college
Oh lol
yeah
Then literally anything will do
Then get a laptop for school, and a good pc for gaming
if only i was that rich
A laptop for school is practically free
Not in my country
What country
india
Oof
Damn an oof?
How much do you have for your gaming laptop then?
I told ya tuf a15 is good >:)
What abt msi
depends on the laptop
msi gl 65 leopard
How much is the a15?
I bought a prebuilt pc off of a website and it’s been working pretty well, but I’ve had a problem come up. Tried to install new ram 4x2 -> 8x2 and now my monitor is not detecting.
@mellow current Is the ram supported to your motherboard
@mellow current fun, what exactly happens when you press the power button?
Everything inside the computer seems to be working fine
All fans are on same with the rgb
Woah it’s 1,300 usd...
@silent sandal yup
It’s just nothing will display on the monitor
What exactly did you do?
I assume you've tried letting it sit?
what happens if you try slapping old ram back in?
Just took out the old ram (4x2) and put in new ram (8x2)
I tried the old ram too but the same results happened
Cool, you know how to reset cmos?
Nope
Article is universal, do battery method :
https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000025368/processors.html
Defines CMOS technology and how to clear CMOS using the jumper or battery methods.
Okay will try it right now
Assuming nothing else is touched, clearing cmos might do it.
something might've messed up with settings when you tried to put new ram in.
I have an AMD processor will this affect anything?
no
Alright
Okay got it
aye, i just like to really stress that part :)
Intel did not make that really clear
its an engineer that wrote that most likely
mhm
because if it was a customer service person
wouldn't be surprised if a few people just yanked 24pin or something when they read that
there would be about 200 steps
heh
and i so effing wish i was joking on that
I mean, if it means less annoying calls, they'd do it.
aye
there is another reason for it
"have you followed the steps?" "yes!"
"And it still does not work?" "no!" "okay, then you are a certified donkey, and i cannot help you anymore. have a lovely day"
@mild jackal Think it's a good idea to pin the am4 mobo sheet somewhere?
There's a summary of it in the pins, but sure
Oh I don't use it for VRMs
I use it to check IO/Sound chip/Internal headers
alright nice
thank you NeweggService very cool
My mobo is the only rgb thing I have
I used the article
Still no display
So I think maybe my motherboard might be the problem
At what time should I be expecting the 5900x to be stocked on thursday?
Wouldn't it be 12:00?
I was thinking 9am
I don't feel like staying up 20 hours straight but I might have to
I don't rly know, I sort of assumed it was going to be 12:00
would a micro atx be fine for a 3070
yes, motherboard form factor doesnt affect anything
quality of the motherboard does however
any recommendations for a amd micro budgeted heh
Is the Asus Tuf X570 pro WiFi a good motherboard for the Ryzen 9 3900x?
I found a prebuilt that’s actually a good price
I7 10700f, 2070 super, 16gb of ram, 600W power supply
And it’s on sale for $1200
Thoughts?
too much
I’m hoping to run doom eternal at 100+ fps at 1440p with ultranightmare settings
It’s a $500gpu and a $400 cpu
It’s on Newegg
I figure for that price that’s barely any build fee
Are you in a hrry to buy a new system?
I mean I’m impatient
If not I would recommend waiting after christmas
You could buy that system used for 600$
I mean if I find a better deal I can return it until January 31st
2070 is NOT worth $500 anymore
Or for the same price get a 5600x with a 6800 or 3060ti
It still sells for $500 tho
yes, but its a TERRIBLE Value
Idk if I can actually find those parts anywhere though
And I don’t trust myself to install a cpu
All of the pc is easy tbh
I’ve heard of so many people accidentally bending a pin
And then it’s just completely dead from there
Just don’t mess up the thermal paste
With intel it's LGA, bending pins is not as easy anymore
@plush knot just dont headbutt the cpu socket or the cpu
I mean for $1200 is this still a good pc tho
as long as you dont rush. there is nothing complicated about building a machine
It’s literally just building legos
2 months ago people on here would have said yes
Reason: Bad word usage
avoiding filter bad
Sorry
Smh
But like realistically would I be able to get those parts before January 31st
Because if so I will return this and buy them
We keep it PG 13
Do you guys think I would realistically be able to get that gpu and cpu by then
Again my bad
Sorry
And by that we forget than when we were 13 we were cursing harder than at any other time in our lives
I think I am buying 5900x on launch day
spending all my internship money on new computer is clearly the only responsible thing to do
My main concern is not being able to get a 3070 for a super long time
lame^
Idk how to do that
not really possible for human to get one
Exactly
I mean it's not lame as long as you don't resell it
if normal consumers also use bots it's less power to scalpers
I can return this until the 31st of January
Or do resell it to make money
at the end of the day not everyone will get a card no matter what as long as there are supply shortages
Yeah spend all your student loans on fancy computer gear and then go burn down a city after to show how upset you are with student loans after 😄
Like if you’re already being cringe and writing a bot, might as well just go all the way
the thing is if you are good enough at programming to do that you can probably earn more money doing real work than scalping cards
I would only do it if I wanted one for myself
It's not that easy
I had an idea
you are still risking money because you can't know for sure how demand will change over time
I buy the pc and then sell and replace the gpu when I can get a 3070
like what if amd has a ton of stock
Just would also need a better power supply
people won't be willing to pay $1200 for a 3080 anymore
Shouldn’t run into bottlenecking with a tenth gen i7 and a 3070 right?
I got a 2070 super from evga b stock for $360 with associate code
so I don't need anything more
Then you can still sell at regular price or just a bit higher
I have a friend who was going to get me an employee discount on a 10900k, but their supply shortages are so bad they can't even stock their employee store
rip intel
I mean 2070 would work for a while and then I’ll save up and buy a 3070 and better power supply when I can
I think that’s a good idea right?
no just get 6800
as long as you get a good deal on your 2070 you can probably resell it and get most your money back
build your own for less 🙂
I guess then keep in mind oem graphics cards will usually sell for less when it's time to upgrade
I know but I mean it’ll probably be sold for at least $200-$300
Building your own is cheaper and you can update Easier
And then I just get a slightly better power supply with it and then bam I’ve only spent $1400 and I have an i710700f and a 3070
I think I have my solution
But if your not comfortable to do it go and by pre built s
who still wants intel when ryzen 5000 is coming out thurs
True
ryzen 5000 kinda pricy tho
Depends it may drop other price s
Your 1200$ will take you much further after christmas
$1400 for a prebuilt and only getting 10700 is rip
Is a 2700x a good alternative to a ryzen 5 3600 for editing and recording games (terraria specifically)
Both are overkill for terraria
Depending what you use for editing you may opt for more cores
But the 3600 is a far better CPU overall
Just 2 cores less
Ram is also need for editing and recording
I'm planning on 16 gigs and making sure I can upgrade later on
I bought a 32GB steel viper kit for cheap
How cheap?
Ok 16 to 32 is better tho
If you can get 2x16 kit
I dont have a whole lot of budget room and I'm pretty sure that goes over my budget
What's the buget
~780
Hm
USD?
Do you have a list
I do
On pcpp
And yes USD
Not pcpp
Some app I found that uses amazon for prices
But I'm checking other websites ofc
Ok amazon not your best bet for cheep prices
Try pcpartpicker it checks compatible
I'll do that right now
32GB/64GB is probably best for video editing
Unless you want to edit 720p then 16GB should be fine
32 is a sort of min but you can do16 it will just take longer
32 I think will provide that "oomph" you're looking for in a new PC for video editing
Which application do you use?
Davinci Resolve
I might go for a 7 2700 so I can get some more budget room for more ram
I've already shaved a lot with storage
Crucial p2 500 gb nvme drive is all I have
It looks like I can fit some more even with the 5 3600
Ok
Could you post the list
