Also some that fades from white to black
Is amd or intel the way to go rn
I need help i wanna get extra ram for my acer nitro 5 laptop but i dont know what to get
Resetting my pc also doesnāt make me lose copy of Windows right?
as long as it is linked to your microsoft account it should be fine
@coarse sonnet It depends on how much money you have to spend and what you're trying to do
Ryzen 3 3300X + 16GB Corsair ram + ASRock B450M PRO4. i have 60 euro's left to spend, what do you recommend ? im thinking of a 250gb m.2 for windows and some games
yo someone throw me their old b450 my a320 bites š
A guy on here suggested a cpu or i could get a better motherboard and get the cpu i wanted. I just wanted to say: I checked my motherboard's temp. IT WAS 103 DEGREES CELCIUS.
@naive pendant What motherboard?
wait when i can load up speccy i will write the mb in her
You can send a link, just remove the https from the front
hi hi what's a great budget motherboard for ryzen 5 3600 processor? Also since I dont have any processors onhand to update bios I'm hoping for one that would work as soon as its built.
asrock b450 will do the job
@stable furnace
B450M Pro4 @stable furnace
why the m variant

Micro ATX boards in ATX cases still look fine
kinda overpriced
Perhaps
So u wanna know how u donāt drown in debt
Intel still doesnāt support PCIe Gen 4 so a gen4 NVMe shouldnāt go up to gen 4 speeds
Hmm
I mean you can get a gen 4, and if it doesnāt support gen 4 speeds itāll just stick to gen 3 speeds
Gen4 isnāt a big step up in load times compared to previous generations
Is there a reason you need gen 4?
Well then get it. If it just runs at gen 3 speeds no harm no foul
Just wonāt be getting that very very slight performance difference
Evo Plus is overpriced
Definitely
Just don't do like I ended up.
My mobo is delayed due to shipping. So I am running a 5700XT on PCIe 2.0. With a FX CPU.
Don't be like me. Order before pandemic.
Lot of the time you can almost get 2x the storage compared to a 970 drive with same perf
wait is the asrock b450m pro4 ryzen 3000 ready?
@remote acorn it should be
Like what is the amount of storage and price? 1tb for $200?
i cant find it on their b450m pro4 page
Iāve used the board before. It comes with the āRyzen 3000 readyā thing on it
And honestly itās kinda difficult to find a b450 board that doesnt support 3000 series
and is it worth spending 10 euros more for the b450m steel legend?
then ill get that board with a ryzen 5 3600 or a ryzen 3 3300X if the cost is low enough to be worth it for me an a hyper 212
currently pre orders for ryzen 3 3300X are 25 euros cheaper than a 5 3600
and i dont know if saving 25 euros is worth it
Iād say just stick with the stock coolers
Hyper 212 is a little bit of a waste imo if you have a perfectly good stock cooler
is the stock cooler that good?
Itās good enough. Keeps it nice and cool and itās pretty quiet
Yep so stock cooler will work great for you
that will save me 35 euro's, maybe a b550 if there are options around 120 euros
yeah
the steel legend will do
and corsair 2x8 3200mhz ram
haha white corsair vengeance at the same speed is 16 euros more
It happens
cant find anything that says that the steel legend/pro4 are 3000 ready out of the box but i did find the MSI B450M Mortar Max
and the 'update bios and install cpu' service at our local pc store is as expensive as getting the mortar max
*updating bios on the steel legend
i like my sexual intercourse how i like my motherboard compatibility
Uh
sorry
only thing i need after this is a good gpu and a non dented case
thinking 1650 super or 1660 super
Good choices
only playing 1080p
kinda mad at myself tho that i broke my 144hz monitor
but 60 will do when you currently have a 1050 ti
maybe get a good 1440p when black friday starts
and a used 2060 or 1660 super
but thats a long way to go for me
Getting a used card of that performance might be a little sketchy
or maybe a used 1070 or 1080
Still risky getting one of those higher end cards used
Mmmm
pfff
lets get the ryzen 5 3600 with mobo and ram first
and save up for a gpu
but i see you have a ryzen 13 5870XT
how much cores, like 512?
and 1024 threads
Close
Just 256 cores
But we found out how to get 3 threads to a core
So 768 threads
I woke up in the wrong dimension
didnt Linus review a CPU with quad threading per core?
Idk
Great for casual computing desktops
Like office desktops
Actually probably not still
Prob runs at 7.6b ghz boost
Ryzen 3955X with 16 cores and 64 threads
Intel pentium g4560 with 2 cores and 8 threads
Thatād be so gangsta
Foreshadowing ryzen 4000?
And then Core i5-11500 with 6 cores and 3 threads
Hypercoring
I WANT RYZEN 9 CPU
I want SLI 2080s with i9 9900k
I want a gtx 1660 super
But I'm rocking a pentium plus 1050ti
Iām gonna upgrade to 1660s once 3000 series comes out
Iām rocking a Ryzen 13 plus RTX 8900s
I want threadripper with a single 3080ti personally
That's what I'm going to do
Gotta have that vertical mount
Wait til 3000
But in all reality Iām rocking Ryzen 1600 af and RX 570 rn
That's still okay for now
Yeah but I got a 165Hz monitor and am barely reaching that in esports games
And I want better FPS in Warzone
60 FPS in medium/high just doesnāt cut it for me
Understandable
But Iām holding out to wait so prices can drop
I want near max settings on bl3 at 100~fps at 1080p
So a 1660 super should the trick for both of Us
I have enough for both rn but Im saving for driving license atm, and I put some money aside evertly month for other things
Nice, how Many lessons left?
Nah close age-wise
Here in the Netherlands you can start lessons at age 16
But you have to redo the exam at 18
I'm 17 and with my excellent math I think I will have my license in February
Near my birthday
Fo sho
Prob will work as a delivery guy as soon as I get it
Packages
For what company tho
A company that only delivers between 7 and 10
Like
That company hires other company's to drive for them
It's called budbee
Yeah its a Swedish company
For anyone with an asus mobo im trying to tell which is which of my USBs (ROG Hero VIII), I have not been able to find anything that differentiates between the red and the blue ports
On the rear io panel?
yes
Manual should say

the manual was not specific it had a top down view
Should have a rear IO view as well
According to their website, the 8 red ones are usb 3.2 gen 2
Then rest are gen 1
3.2 gen 1 to be specific
Alright thanks š

what are some good cheap mobos
Depends on the chipset
And model :>
Reason: Bad word usage
i have rotten f'ing luck
my Z490 Pro AX replacement's bottom M.2 slot also doesn't work
anyone here have trouble with hyper x memory modules?
@spare ferry some motherboards they are disabled if you use the nearby pcis slot etc. see the manual
no I think its more a dimm or mobo defect
it wouldnt be the 1st time a hyper x module failed
but the mobo has it own vrm defects
What's recommended for rzyen 5 3600, currently have a 450 Watt PSU
Are you asking for a psu recommendation or other components?
@remote acorn a Ryzen 3600 can run off of a lot. It depends on your graphics card. 450w is good for an RX 570 or a 1650 super or even 1660 super paired with your 3600
Asus Prime B450-PLUS
Is this a decent mobo for a 7 3700x and 2070 super for 109.99 or should I get the b450 tomahawk max for 123.99?
where are you finding the b450 tomahawk for $124?!!?
ah newegg
msi b450 tomahawk vs msi x470 gaming plus?
does it bother anyone else
when the M.2 heatsinks are just
huge
I've never owned a board with an included heatsink
but is the whole damn thing supposed to come off?
Those double as chipset heat sinks
asrock is compensating for their poor vrms
smh
I'd rather have the m.2 bit break off
and the rest be stuck
this offends my personal sensibilities for some reason
Dude but those boards looks so hot š„µ
Ooooooh
the original X370 Taichi
OOOOH
was actually black and white
Yeah
now this is just RGB steampunk gears
I remember
lolololol
this is one of those B550 boards some rando on reddit would rant about
for having a chipset fan
...
wait is that the chipset
Yes
okay good
I was thinking for a moment, "What the hell? An M.2 drive gets its own fan now?!?"
Usually on itx boards the M.2 is in the back
@neat estuary i not only read the manual i contacted customer support and the bottom M.2 slot should work. the exact same nvme ssd will boot on the middle slot, but not the lower one.
I c. I was throwing it out their because some do weird configurations like that
it pisses me off that customer support recommended a replacement and ran into the same exact problem again
Chill out my man
Just bad luck
Iāve had similar happen to me
Ordered a motherboard, was broken, ordered a replacement, was also broken
two in a row? i think that's their problem
probably never buying aorus again
Sometimes these things happen. If it happens again, just donāt but another one
Yeah I donāt like Giga personally
Especially their mobos
Iām an ASRock fanboy personally
i mean, the mb works in every other way
just not the 3rd m.2 slot
which is disappointing i intended on using all 3
and both didn't work in the exact same way? lol sounds like a manufacturing issue
and if i were to never upgrade to 11th gen intel, that would mean that only 1 out of 3 m.2 slots would work which is unacceptable
Hello! so i wanna buy an ASrock b450m pro4 motherboard, but im not sure if it will support my ryzen 3 3100 processor straight out of the box. Also, the board on newegg's website is called " ASRock B450M PRO4 AM4 AMD Promontory B450" and i am not sure what promontory means
can anyone help me?
@eager burrow it should support your 3100 out of the box. If not, you can literally contact AMD and theyāll send you a CPU to update your BIOS with
oh! thank you so :DDD
you too :>
is it worth paying $130 for a Ryzen 5 1600 rn or no
Is it the 1600af or no?
CAD?
Canadian Dollars
Prices are so high rn
Thereās a shortage of like... everything
RAM is like the only thing staying normal
yeah
i want to get everything in by august if i can
but idk how the market is going rn
The entire market is garbage
ok cool thanks
Buy from Newegg though, not the weird sellers they have on their marketplace
Something like Joe's Market from China selling a 70 USD part for over 300 dollars
3rd party on amazon and ebay are fine tho
Even if they are sketch ones from china, buyer protection
just don't overpay
3rd party on Amazon aren't as bad from what I can tell, but still not good price
Depends. That's a generalization. You have your price gougers, but you also have good sellers
Yep
When things don't go back to normal, then things won't come back in stock, and you won't be able to buy them
anyone know when more motherboards might be in stock? every single one i look at is out of stock
they will be in stock soon^tm
if the listing says backordered, then you wont be able to get one for a few weeks at the earliest
i backordered one 3 weeks ago and it still hasn't shipped :/
some of them might say something like more on the way
yeah, if something is backordered, it means the supplier has already sold out of the inventory they havent even recieved yet
which means you probably wont get a board for a while if thats the case
what board did you order?
did you get a tracking number yet or no
on newegg?
yes
well, its oos on wegg rn, so they arent accepting any more orders for this board, and probably wont be selling this board for a while now, because usually they would let you back order it
so either they dont actually have a board for you yet, and made a mistake allowing you to backorder one, or they have your board on hand, but they are having some sort of issue
regardless, DM NeweggService about it
well, DM them tomorrow, because its sunday
or do it today and just wait till tomorrow idk
is NeweggService on discord?
alright, thank you
they are open during business hours pacific time
California gang
Texas gang

Hey all. For a Ryzen 7 3700x, I have a choice between an ASRock x570 Extreme 4 and an ASUS TUF Gaming B550-PLUS. Your thoughts?
Specifically, an ASRock x570 that's on backorder, or an ASUS B550-PLUS that's in stock now?
B550 should work
Thanks
Is it illegal to combine 2 different ram sets
It's best to have a matching set, but you can do it
Yeah friends sayd it didn't matter
If you add it all in, they'll all run at 2666 MHz
And you don't need 24 gb of ram for games like gta and borderlands 3 right?
Best to have 16 gb at 3200 than 24 at 2666
I think both of those can actually get away with 12
morning everyone
i have a question about ryzen master
i saw a video where he undervolted and pulled out more performance
is this true?
If cooling is a bottleneck, undervolting can help
I actually have yet to over/underclock any cpu. IDK... I'd ask in #overclocking
ok thxc
Looking for CPU/motherboard help
same
@frail flame what are you wondering?
I have a Dell Inspiron 3847 that is about 5 years old. It is barely able to run some of the newer games I play (Farcry 5, DCS World, etc..). I have heard that I can upgrade my CPU/motherboard without having to reinstall Win10. Can you confirm that?
Not motherboard, but possibly CPU
The reason you can barely run games is becuase you need a better graphics card
Windows 10 is kept on a storage device so I donāt see why you would have to reinstall it
What cpu and gpu do you have?
I am running the best I can with the motherboard ... which is NVIDIA GeForce GT730/
You can probably run a GTX 1050 ti off it
Intell i5-4460 cpu @3.20gnz
GT 730 is not built for gaming
ghz
Your CPU is decent. GPU is what's holding you back
New motherboard and gpu
A CPU upgrade won't do you any good
Get a GTX 1050, 1050 ti, or 1650
they all should work fine
Isnt it better to invest in a gaming pc you can upgrade as you go?
or an RX 460
Yes
If I remember correctly when I did this updated graphics card over a year ago .... the GT730 was the largest I could go that fits my motherboard. I could be remembering that wrong
DM me a pic of your motherboard and power supply please
ok ... that'll take a little bit of time to provide .... I may have a picture from before. Lemme look.
Sorry. I do not already have a picture of the motherboard. Is there a way to find it in the system information?
Can you just popp the side panel off and take a pic of the inside?
it's sort of wedged under my desk. I'm trying
alright take your time
@frail flame can you send me a pic of the power supply label too?
one of my friends is trying to change their ram speed and they changed it in bios but its not changing in task manager any reason why this it ?
stuck at 2133 when he has 3200 mhz
Will this drive last me a while? https://www.newegg.com/product/N82E16822234372
it should
@vernal matrix ease into it
some ram require some time to run at the advertised speed
just have him experiment with it a little bit
mine would only stay at 3000 but it was rated for 3200
then after running 3000 for a while it bumped it up to 3200 and it worked
This is a potentially stupid question, but can anybody please confirm that the 4 pin connector next to the 8 pin CPU power connector on the Maximus XII hero is actually optional as the online manual suggests? I'm pretty confident that it is, but it just seems a little odd. Cheers.
it is optional. 8 pins can push 300w by ATX spec and more like 400w - 500w before it melts
What CPU are you running?
pretty hard to push that much wattage with basic OC, even on high end Intel
Cool, thanks a lot. I was planning for an i9-10900K or KF at some point in the following months once the RTX 30 series GPUs are released, and having only built one PC previously, using the Maximus IX Hero in which there's only an 8 pin CPU power connector, it just seemed odd to me that I wouldn't have to use the additional 4 pin considering that I don't see any build in that case in which it would be used, if that makes sense.
question re: working with an x58 system. got my x5675 installed and booted, but windows is locking it to 1.6ghz, no matter what and i have next to no familiarity with that generation of cpu/bios to understand what to do to fix it
also, it's locking out 4GB of ram as 'hardware reserved' and nothing i change in the bios or windows will free it
the bios and windows both report it as an x5675 with a base clock of 3.06ghz, but actual speed wise, it won't go beyond 1.59
Hi all, does anybody have experience with the Asrock Rack E3C242D4U and 9th gen i3 CPUs? Not on the validated CPU list, but that list is outdated anyway
Are the EVGA 2070 supers good?
they're ok
i have a xc gaming 2070 super
it runs a bit warm and has coil whine. fairly common according to user reviews
idk how the thicker heatsink models do temperature wise, but mine runs a good 5-10C warmer than other gpus when i compared them to benchmark videos
a positive is that the fans are not too loud
Help
New cpu mobo ram powers on but no screen
Nvm got it
What
On idle 92 celcius
thermal paste correctly on ?
fan screwed on all the way ?
since its new, it should be enough
um, maybe temps are showing wrong ? try restarting your computer and look at the temps
Will try
Whenever I start the pc one of the fans starts spinning like crazy for a second
No
Still 92 degrees
you could try flipping the fan around
but look at task manager real quick
see what is using the cpu the most
yeah. So jus try switching the fan around
Ok
and when screwing it in, screw it in diagonal
like when you do the left one, do the one across from it
you mustve installed the fan wrong, that has to be the reason why your temps are high
^^
Make a X if your not certain how big a pee it needs
@ornate coyote i installed it like that the first time
alr, i was jus making sure lol
And it was supposed to be a 1600 AF but it says 14nm
Still 92 degrees
Installed it correctly
And even added a little extra thermal paste
?
Anyone knows what auxtin0 means?
Whenever I start a game it gets past 100
Maybe the cpu is broken?
Probably a measurement offset error. If it's fluctuating slowly, probably vrm temp.
Why would my vrm temp be so high?
Probably a measurement offset error.
right there
you might be good then
jus play a game and if your window doesnāt crash, then your good lol
I'll try borderlands 3
hwmonitor is often inaccurate
if it was intel i would suggest extreme tuning utility

It loads faster
Cpu runs at 57 degrees
Everything seems fine
And instead of playing on the lowest of low I'm not getting framedrops at medium settings
Thanks for the help, I almost returned the cpu haha
a small question from me, my cpu (i5-9600kf) is supposed to be running at 4.6ghz but is running at 4.3ghz. Is this a cpu or a mobo problem? Temps are perfect tho.
according to intel, boost is supposed to be at 4.6. maybe my h310 chipset is holding it back
Yes, single core boost is 4.6 but not all core boost. So only if you're stress testing on one core you'll see 4.6
^
@cunning epoch single core and multi core boost are different
And hei is correct 4.3 is the all core boost
@cunning epoch there is no need for a new mobo
if you wanted a new mobo just get amd there is no upgradibilty with intel
Ok so I have a question i am going with a cooler that might inter fear with ram Clarence so should I put the max memory in my mb because I would like to upgrade ram higher for some streaming and video editing but I know some mb that are dual channel don't like when u put 4 stick of ram in
I'm looking for low profile ram now and the cooler is the dark rock pro 4
Hopefully
Plenty of clearance with ballistix elite https://i.imgur.com/lAwslTf.jpg
People are saying I need the dark rock pro 4 for the ryzen 9 3900x
the cooler is designed with memory modules in mind, so you can move the fan up out of the way of the ram if you need to
you dont need a specific cooler
Ok
DRP4 or a noctua anything are two of many good fits.
I would like to keep the cpu cool I am watching a ltt review of the cpu now
its like 15 dollars cheaper
good enough to handle 3900x stock
and you could probably mount the fan on the otherside of the cooler
but the default fan mount might not even get in the way of the ram
I want to overclock some to
Interesting cooler
ya, but i wanted to send the dark rock 4
Lol
not whatever tf that was
@wind field we fixed Link
Ok lol
does anyone know what bios the b450m pro4 ships with
depends on where you buy it from
I should ship with newest if completly new
and if it doesn't just do the thing that where amd gives you chip to update bios with
according to
https://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/B450M Pro4/index.asp
yes and no
the box in the pic says ryzen 2000 ready, but the specs mention the use of matisse cpus
but the use of 3rd gen ryzen is never explicitly stated
but, according to the CPU support list, most 3rd gen chips have been supported since bios P3.30
which was released may 2019
so i would say yes, that board does support it out of the box
any good cpu recommendations under $200?
@fickle goblet 3600 is solid
@digital kernel is it good price to peformance? i dont mind spending on the higher end of $200 as long as im getting the bang for my buck, i wanna get the best for the money im working with
I think it's on sale rn as well
3600 is one of the best price to performance wise
3600 for $170 or something is the best perf/$ rightnow.
3600 you can get away with b450
im one of those latest features kind of guys unless theres no real difference between b450 and b550
at the moment im only upgrading my mobo, cpu, and ram. overall id like to stay around $400
Whatās SDRAM on a Ram?
What does it do?
Team group has 16gb 3200 MHz on new egg for sale right now with SDRAM
I believe there are some Ripjaws on sale atm
Where at @naive pendant
Yea I see them @naive pendant I want a faster speed though
Latency is basically the same, so for the exta few bucks, I'd go with the 3600
Well. $14.00
I never knew they had gray...
Whatās the best latency to get?
Lower latency is best @dark sapphire
So I have an old setup in my spare/media PC (AMD FX-6300, Gigabyte GA-76LMT board, 16GB DDR3 1333MHz). The CPU fan is ramping up to between 4.6k and almost 7k RPM. Looking to possibly replace the CPU/mobo/RAM. Thinking of getting a dual-core Celeron or an i3-9300F, swapping my current/main PC mobo from an AsRock Phantom 4 (LGA1151-300 series) to an ASUS Prime Z390-A and using the Phantom 4 in media PC, and grabbing a cpl 8GB Aegis RAM sticks for the media. Main PC is using an i5 9600K w/ DDR4 3200MHz 32GB (4x8). Any pro/con you folks can think of for doing this? Or have any other suggestions?
Best $100-$120 NVMe m.2 1tb ssd?
mp34 is $8 over but pretty much best value
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/Y6YLrH/
š¤wouldn't the PNY XLR8 CS3030 probably be better, around the same price, faster read and write speeds.
@supple monolith
more expensive for slight gains
was at 139
I'll check specs
They're very close in terms of performance
but sustained writes the cs3030 suffers it seems
cs3030 in red
mp34 in red
still reading the review gimme a bit
I mean, both are still solid drives from what I see.
Depends on what you value more
I'm happy with mine, so I'm not too worried
or so it seems
hmm
oh MP34 wins in seq. read, cs3030 wins in random reads
I think
The numbers confuse me
they confuse me too
they just trade blows all over the place
no clear winner
either works
but cs3030 usually is around 140$ so mp34 is a solid bet
its like sn750 vs mp34
both good
cheapest works
As long as it's not awful though š¤
@hollow thorn What is the horizontal axis on that first chart?
I think it is the percentage of completion of the tweaktown test
Okay
It is ya, meant to show after how much throughput/time drives throttle etc
99% of the time - I think people blow throttling worries out of proportion
A 660p 1TB has 72GB of SLC cache, you have to write ~120GB (best case, using an empty dive, but still) to hit the sequential write throttle
660p isn't as bad as it's made out to be. I got one because it was on sale for cheap, and I am very happy with it
For that $130 range you guys are kinda in is the wd black drive good? $134 on wd website
Also gonna store some games and windows. Itās gonna be my main drive
sn750 might be a bit more expensive than mp34 rn
Hello
Anyone around I can bounce some question off of about a new build I am troubleshooting?
feel free to ask, if someone has an answer they will likely jump in š
thanks! I recently purchased a Asrock A320M-HDV R4.0 MB with Ryzen 3 3200G CPU Viper Patriot ram 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR4 Dimms and intel 660p SSD along with windows 10 64bit Asus DVDRW and NOD 32 AV. I had problems installing WIN 10 the first go around right off the bat during install so I RMA'd everything just to be sure I didn't miss anything and got all new parts.
I finally got the build stable but it randomly crashes with the ntoskrnl.exe being the culprit in Blue Screen Viewer of the minidump. Every single crash is contributed to the kernel in BSV so I finally checked the Asrock website and I found that the Viper Mem is not in the support list for this board. Could that be the reason why I am having so many problems?
Oh yeah I got this all from NEWEGG as well
The funny thing is Windows Mem Diag, and Memtest doesn't come up with any errors at all. Both XMP profile Enabled and disabled. Ran then both extensively also tried bare bones system just the board, cpu, ram, mem and DVDRW with onboard graphics. Still crashes randomly.
faulty or inadequate ram can be a possible issue. is there something you do when it usually crashes or just on desktop. looks like it could also be corrupt sys files, could try a dism and sfc scan to see if that picks up anything
Oh yeah I performed SFC and DISM no corruption. Sometimes I just move the mouse after idle a few minutes and it crashes BSOD lol
But then sometimes the build is stable and no problems whatsoever. All my drivers are latest versions direct from Manufactures as well.
when I checked the Asrock Website I could not find this ram on the support list. Could that be the problem? I am tearing my hair out to find the culprit here lol
strange, sounds like something is unstable
I know, in my experience when ram is faulty or defective the build would never be as stable. Oh yeah, whenever I attempt to play youtube videos my PC freezes up completely as well. I am using a Geforce 1050 TI PCIe GPU which I know is good because I tested it on another machine. No problems with the card (Ram not the supported by the other PC so i can't test that there)
Right now I am on this build on this chat. Just to show it can be stable for long periods.
Thanks for the help Banned. I appreciated the attempt lol. I am most likely going to RMA the memory again but exchange it for ram that is listed on the Asrock site for this board
This way I could at least rule that out
ye it's a start i guess. sorry i couldn't help much im not the best at troubleshooting š
How good is a Asus TUF gaming x570-plus (WI-FI) Atx motherboard?
good
i think i might be giving up on my X58 build and just parting some of it out
i've spent days troubleshooting and cant' figure out what's wrong
and things that i thought i fixed end up going back to broken behavior without me changing anything
i might just try and find a deal on a different cpu/mobo/ram combo and replace the x58 board
yes
any cpu recommendations for CSGO and Valorant 144 fps?
very vague, but ryzen 5 3600 is a very good mid range chip
Yep
Even as low as a Ryzen 1500x paired with a decent GPU will yield that for you
I need to know if the Crucial 64GB Kit (32GBx2) DDR4 2666 MT/s CL19 SODIMM 260-Pin Memory - CT2K32G4SFD8266 is compatible with the 2019 27' iMac
i purchased the imac last night and then purchased the ram but i just need to check if the ram is compatable i think i might have went too high
on the ram
and the 32gb isnt compatible
The better question becomes "why did you buy in iMac"
people have their reasons
why did i buy an imac? because i like them
The question now becomes "why do you like them"
i like the apple ecosystem
but i seriously need an answer to the question about the RAM
You don't mind the price gouging?
Apple is really bad about publishing what components will and will not work for upgrading their systems. I would recommend contacting apple, saying you want to upgrade your ram, and just get whatever kit they recommend
Also, upgrading the ram will most likely void your warrenty
well a kit they recommend may cost a fortune
Welp, that's apple for you
some websites have a filter i think
this is on b&h https://i.imgur.com/ZjOQhPW.png
any of these should be compatible https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/products/Computer-Memory/ci/13341/N/3835434469?filters=fct_a_mac-memory_5415%3Aimac-retina-5k-27in-2019
Buy Computer Memory RAM from top brands like Ballistix, Patriot, OWC / Other World Computing and Crucial. Go to B&H for amazing prices and service.
Assuming it;s an iMac retina pro
the one i selected was 2019 27" 5k
You wanted 64GB, right?
the closest to your kit i see is this https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1497334-REG/crucial_ct2k16g4s266m_32gb_kit_16gbx2_ddr4.html
Here's a 2x32GB kit
https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1462782-REG/owc_other_world_computing_owc2666ddr4s64p_64gb_kit_2x32_2666mhz.html
@humble vessel my guess given this list is that the ram you purchased will not be compatible
Welcome to the ecosystem
integrated memory controller
its the part of your CPU's silicon that handles your RAM
Integrated memory controller. and it can but is unlikely
intel claims that but the numbers needed to damage it are hard to reach
and is dependant on the motherboard
and all XMP profiles are certified to work on certain boards and CPUs, and because motherboard standards are so strict, and because the cpu architecture is the same across an entire line of cpus, its nearly impossible for physical damage to be an issue
Hey I just read that my xmp profile can burn my imc
Sometimes - it's because some mobos cough asus will auto-set the vccio and vccsa to 1.4-1.5+ volts when 3600+ mhz ram is running.
The XMP profile doesn't set those voltages, just the vdimm.
is a ryzen 7 3800X good enough or should I wait for the XT?
by like 1-200mhz
and when the difference between the 3700x and 3800x is already nearly unnoticeable for most people
the XT certainly isnt bringing anything to the table for most people
so is it worth the extra $80? to go from $319 on amazon to $400 for the XT?
doesnt sound like it
ok thx
G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 32GB (2 x 16GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3200 in the mail
Is there a major difference between the b450 tomahawk max and the gaming plus max? And what if there is
hmm
Well there has to be a difference. Why make 2 separate models hat are the same?
I guess maybe looks
Probably quality
It's slow
Zoom
Get all new or just get 2 more matching sticks
I might try lowering my timings
Just get two matching sticks
Don't do higher timings, do lower timings
Can u show me later if I dm you
Hi guys, is this the right place to ask for help with my motherboard?
Yes
ye
affirmative
yup
Absolutely
Okay, so I got my OS down to 169MB of ram, so I'm going to assume those are good and run the built in memtest on the rest of them
What processor should I go with for a 1070 ti? something with like a Wraith Prism cooler
If you suggest a 3600, help me find a white cpu cooler
white fan CPU cooler
Ah thanks
any good suggestions on a cpu to match a rtx 2060 from zotac? id prefer if it was around the ryzen 5 2600x to ryzen 5 3600
bcs i have a 2600 now
im on a budget
i mean the 2600 should be fine for a 2060
im using a 2070 super and 2600 and no issues
back ordered is about as good as you're gonna get
theres this back ordered too
https://www.newegg.com/asrock-b550m-hdv/p/N82E16813157953
dam thats the motherboard som1 already sent
rip
ok if i go a bit higher is there anything in stock?
or whats the cheapest in stock
(thats more than the 1 i have)
They're all out of stock or back ordered or more on the way
up to like 130$
I'd stick with back ordered one
how long does back order take? typically
Depends on the item and how many people ordered as well as how many they can even place a bulk order for right now. Things are limited so itās not like they can get their typical supply of everything.
@crude path i have a 2600 but i am upgrading curtosy of my dad becuase he needs to upgrade his computer and he figured that since i play more cpu entinsive games then him hed upgrade me and take what i have now, thats why im wanting to know about a good cpu to rock with my 2060
i mean if you are wanting an upgrade and can find it for a good price, then go with a 3600. But you may not see a performance increase as the 2600 doesnt really limit the 2060
or see if you can get a 3600x
Question. Think a 3900x is worth 350 used? Also think an Aorus B450 Wifi + a 3900x is worth $400?
i mean a 3900x is like 415 rn
Thought about getting the combo and reselling the motherboard since I alreadu have a b550.
yeah you could probably sell it for more than 50 so Iād get the bundle and sell the b450
i'm new to buliding pcs and was wondering if it would be better to wait for AMD to release a zen 3 processor or to try and get an AMD 3900XT.
@tired spruce just wait if you can
Agreed. Wait if you can
When is Ryzen 4000 series estimated release gonna be?
sometime this year
Nice pfp
how much should something like an i5-6400/i5-7400 go for? stealing the i7-6700 from one of my machines to complete another build, and looking for something to replace the 6700 in the dell (precision tower, C236 chipset)
if i get a mobo that has on board ethernet and says 1 x 1000 Mbit/s is that good enough ? so if i do a speed test and my wifi plan is 200 mbps , will the 1x1000mbit be able to run up to 200 mbps on a speed test?
s the ryzen 3 3300x a better option than the ryzen 5 1600af/2600 (ik they are basically the same), is it worth to sacrifice 2 cores and 4 threads?, I was also thinking that the 3600 could be a better option.
@brittle glade if ur gaming get 3300x
Hi i was wondering if i buy the B450 Tomahawk by MSI will i have to update bios if i want to put a 3rd gen Ryzen cpu?
ok thanks
Anybody ever use this type of NVME from Barracuda before?
https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B07ZPRV8JY/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?smid=A3DWYIK6Y9EEQB&th=1
Or I might just stick with a MP34
I would rather suggest a SN750 at the same price
Turns out MP34 has a 20$ shipping fee in CA
Ooo looks purdier as well
Yeah the MP34 with the shipping fee threw me off last minute š¦
Thoughts on NVME with a heat sink on a gaming rig?
Good to know. Thanks Mr1111
im tryna pick out a decently priced motherboard. im getting a ryzen 7 3700x and idk what kinda board to get
what is the dif between the ryzen 9 3900x and the 3900x matisse processors?
@opal rivet well, b450/b550 tomahawk are the generic answers, but honestly any non ASRock board between $120-$200 should work just fine
Hardware unboxed has done many videos on the various am4 videos, just choose a board that doesn't fail the vrm tests
Asrock steel legend's vrm heatsink is kinda small
you'll want direct airflow on that heatsink if you dream of using 3700x
or you can just head the lower end of b550
most of their vrms are decent at least, despite some exceptions
3700X only has 65w TDP
default EDC for 3700x is 90A
does anyone have the AM4 motherboard VRM spreadsheet?
cant find it, and there a screenshot pinned here, but i want a link to the actual sheet
nvm found it
MSI MEG X570 GODLIKE is that worth $600?
So, im making the switch from a I7-9700k to a R9 3900XT, and im looking around at MOBO's and im trying to find the most, amatuer overclocker friendly one, my eye is grabbed alot by the Asus crosshair VIII hero, any higher recommendations?
@compact sun no motherboard above 300$ should ever be bought imo xD
X570 unify is about the highest end board I'd reccomend
What about the asus x570 e gaming
What is your current set?
@jovial nova
What do you do?
What is the highest ram usage you have seen?
It might not be your ram
What CPU/GPU do you have?
16gb should be plenty for gaming
what motherboard do you have
for R5 1600, ram speed is quite limited
oh, is this the 12nm refresh? the 1600 AF?
or the og 1600
people who need more than 16gb is usually for people who do editing or rendering that need the extra ram
yeah, today, 16gb is just ideal for games
also depends on mobo, limit could be around 3200mhz
Hello I have a question that needs an answer i need a motherboard for my ryzen 3600 but cannot find one in my price range that doesnt need to have its bois flashed
my price range is up to $135
https://www.newegg.com/gigabyte-b450m-ds3h/p/N82E16813145083 - in stock, $78 shipped, but micro-ATX if it matters
at this point, any B450 boards coming from the factory should be getting built and flashed with the right BIOS for 3000 series
okay thank you so much
i know that PCPP flags the Asus Prime B450M-A/CSM as needing one, but we have built 2 systems in the last month w/ them w/ no bios flashes needed, so lol
okay cool thank you for the help
is this the one your talking about
i dont wanna assume this is it without verifying @tranquil wolf
this is the one we used @carmine anvil
okay thank you
no prob
Is there a software that diagnoses if my motherboard is faulty or my CPU?
I think it just boils down to if you get the bluescreen of death on Windows a lot, if you don't then you're fine.
Is there any new CPUs coming out that would pair with the RTX 3000s?
Uhhhh.... Current CPUs?
I'd rather get the next gen of CPU to fit with the next gen of GPU
Looks like you just answered your own question there xD
ryzen 4th gen is coming out later this year, supposedly it hasn't been delayed or anything
Ryzen 4000 it is then
B450 gaming plus max or GIGABYTE B450M?
@empty phoenix
although if I were you I would spend the extra 10$ to get aura sync ram
7 3700x and the budget is just not to expensive. Donāt want something thatās to expensive cause of COVID @deep vigil
Of course
Thoughts on this mobo?
x570 plus wifi is a great board at 190$
How much performance difference between the two?
I mean
motherboard doesn't contribute a lot to performance
basically no difference in performance
you choose the motherboard for the features
How many M.2 slots, sata slots, USB slots, wifi, LAN, etc
and the price
Ah i see.
And OC support/power delivery
VRMs, but that doesn't matter as much even in Ryzen OCing
as long as it's decent, which both of those are, it's fine
Ah i see..
Intel it's a lot more apparent, I mean 10900k drawing 300w on slight OC, that's tough
Mainly wanted the Taichi cuz it looks cooler lmao
Compared to my current x570 plus wifi
x570 plus wifi is a great board
But I guess its not worth if no difference
My brother got the maximus viii x570 crosshair
He said it much better then mine cuz it has internet packets making it better
lol ok
at that point you're spending hundreds on random stuff you prob won't need
It's prob got better wifi bc it's got 802.11ax and plus wifi has 802.11ac iirc
I see.
What will you be doing with the server?
Only storage?
wait, are you asking for a recommendation, or for us to give you an actual intel cpu??
because you should already know what you need
you shouldnt need an 18 year old to tell you lmao
If you only have storage, any old CPU will do
Just find a motherboard with a lot of sata or get a pcie controller, then slap in the cheapest CPU it supports

Lol
Maybe this is the wrong place but what a good cheap wifi m.2 with gb speeds?
For laptop?
Desktop. My b550 has the spot for one
Any reason why you can't use the pcie slot?
