I actually use my 5800x more cause of the way my set up is currently. But when i do get to use the 5950x(ark dev editor) it's a lot better than the 3900x. It did work well for gaming before I built the other PC. And it's a lot easier to cool than the 5800x.

I didn't mention dlss performance. The 1440p performance was tested without dlss on ultra or high settings on the benchmark I looked at.
so with proper tweaking and DLSS, you could definitely squeeze more out on top of that.

DLSS can be quirky. Borderline 1440p card. 4050 should be even better. Actually is sort of funny a 50 tier trades blows w/ something like a 1070 or 1080 already. xx50 finally is a much more worthy choice.

In that case the setup you asked about would be good. VR basically doubles the gpu requirement of a game but doesn't add much to the cpu load.

6900xt in general beats the 3090 in pure rasterization performance in many cases
Every source I've been finding puts the toxic extreme ahead, which makes sense given higher clocks and it's a hybrid card with a huge rad.

Nah, I'd say that's a great setup for now. At higher res or gfx settings, GPU is the bigger deal. Sure 10/11/12gen would be faster (especially 12gen), but perhaps not a bothersome amount. Here's a pic from GamersNexus (GPU is 2080 Ti), but understand how it's from a "review" w/ settings that try to highlight cpu-related performance.

Oh yeah I marked the wrong one. Stock was a few down, and still 90+ fps on it's 1% low at least. It's interesting how the 6c12T 8700 compares to the 8c8T 9700 & just seeing how nowadays w/ most of these cpus how extra threads alone can help.

AIBs set the MSRP for their cards, which is why a Strix 3050 is like $480 iirc

If you check EVGA cards in the shuffle against the prices listed on the EVGA website you'll see they're generally within 20-50 dollars
I mention EVGA just because they're one of the easiest AIBs to check official MSRP for
Zotac is also generally pretty easy to check
The EVGA 3050 in the shuffle today is listed at MSRP (comes bundles with a PSU which is another issue entirely)
