Mining is no worse, and might even be better, for a GPU than gaming. Mining is power limited and the cards run cooler than when gaming. It also doesn't use the GPU core, which is underclocked when in use.

I'm having an issue with a EVGA 3090. After plugging in the 8pin power connectors, the middle light goes red. I have two 8pin connectors going to the PSU, with one splitting to the GPU. I have tried switching things around, including on the PSU. It did work once, then when I disconnected to plug in the RBG strip, it stopped working again.
