It's bonus performance out of the box though, so it's nice if you don't want to tweak and overclock yourself.

Most of the cards around 300+ will do 1440p fine. It's a matter of FPS targets at that point though, like if you want 100FPS average in all the recent AAA games you're gonna want a card closer to 400 - 500. Otherwise like a 2060 or 5600XT will work well for at least a minimum of 60fps 1440 high I think

Though I will admit it won't be like that forever, the 6gb Vram buffer is just meeting the minimum for 1440, so if it's a temp card then it's fine.
