Dang
Yeah I really am starting to feel
Wait

Ok
I'm really starting to feel like nvidia is using the us msrp to drive a narrative
I mean possibly
What narritive
The one of them being basically an AI sellout and not really caring about consumers?
"Look how cheap it is, it's still better than last gen!"
Meanwhile, elsewhere around the world
So, at least pitch nvidia in a different class then, these really aren’t consumer cards
These used to be yeah
They were called titans before
Sold as workstation cards
Then the 3090 became "Titan for the consumer"
Man that lasted long

Imo all of them are far too expensive to be considered consumer grade unless you love wasting money
Maybe my blood isnt rich enough
Spending 400 dollars on a new 8 gig card is insane
In any market
Fair
One thing I'm pleased about
It really feels like a lot more people are waking up to it this gen
100 percent
People are done with their crap
I really hope so
And its showing
I’ve never seen all of the tech reviewers go this hard on them
You can’t compete with them all the competition is actually lower priced and better
Oh yeah it was pretty brutal
I wouldn’t wanna compete with that garbage anyway
They’re not garbage cards the price to performance is absolutely garbage
I'm just hoping amd get the next gen launch price right
I’m probably still gonna get a 6800 anyway
That's a good card
7700XT for 25 more is somewhat worth
If that weighs into anything
Yeah, I like having a lot of VRAM I heard it’s pretty important for some of these new and optimized games
Yes
Ray tracing is also becoming more mainstream
I liked my 6900XT
It's been really reliable
The launch was a bumpy one but they came round in the end
Yeah, I’ve kind of always had my eye on the 6800 as a replacement for my RX 588 gig
I’m gonna keep looking at 7700s too
guys If I want to buy the 5080 should I buy it now for $1700 or I wait a month from now?
Wait at least a month for supply
You might as well get a new 4080 super for $1000 if you need it now lol
Definitely not now. Wait for restock and get it at MSRP not those scalper prices.
the 4080 super is for 1300$ where i live
do you think it will be restocked by the end of this month?
You mean end of February right?
yeah
Most likely.
With the Lunar New Year the factories are currently shut down and it can take weeks to spin them back up to full production capacity. I don't expect anything until March.
and that will be at the start of march?
No idea on the exact timing. I'm just basing this off of past data.
@wild glen I'd personally recommending just not getting a "5080" at all
It's basically a scam

GeForce RTX...
Just get a used 4080 or 4080 Super, you can get it for 800 or so dollars and it'll give you much better value than any "5080"
did ya'll see the GN video regarding how bad 5090 launch supply was?
Oh yeah
Ooh yeah
Even upgrading from 3080?
5080 appears to be good for overclocking but if you don't do that it's only about 5-10% better than the 4080 super depending on settings
Unless you absolutely must buy a new GPU and the 5080 happens to be the same price as a 4080 at the time of purchase it's just not worth it
Used 4080 or 4080 Super all day every day
Where do y'all get used cards?
ebay facebook marketplace are a good start
A few different places, r/hardwareswap, ebay, fbm
if you dont want to deal with the looking around that hard and dont mind paying as much and youre in the US, Jawa acts as a middleman but youre gonna get worse deals
Sometimes jawa can be better than ebay and I hear it has roughly the same level of buyer protection
Just make sure to test it right away, you have 72 hours from delivery to confirm it works or not iirc before the funds get released
im purely talking about from a not sifting through for parts or whatever ones, plus theyve already been tested so basically guaranteed not shipped a dead product maliciously
@torpid heron Nope we don't allow that here
oop sorry
No buy/sell/trade
Besides, the odds of someone having a spare 5090 right now are insane
There's only like 1000 in the USA total
if theres only 1k then the prices on ebay are a steal
Microcenter leaked they only got about 230 units total nationwide. If each major retailer got about the same number of units, right about 1000 is reasonable
Two reasons Nvidia did this:
Get as many units state-side before the tariffs hit as possible
They don't care about gamers anymore when they can sell the same GPU with more memory for $30k and call it an "AI card"
I wonder if theres people flipping scalped cards lol
100% they are

Some mf actually bought it
Yep
What a deal at 5500, down from 6000
I mean card!
@random walrus
hm?
I just copy and send the photo in discord usually
Also I'm surprised
I jokingly said "Probably the worst in like 15 years"
Didn't expect actual truth
Wtaf
good to note that this is blender, not gaming
Oh yeah but still very applicable
arguably a little more standardiz-able than games as well
Ahahaha
that's the spirit

God this thread is awesome
Everything we've been saying for years on full rip
Hahahahaha
ok here's somewhat of a thought experiment: AMD is currently (on top of better raster) offering more VRAM than Nvidia. But in comparison to Nvidia AMD is pretty crap for AI. If AMD improves their AI cores (to support better upscaling, frame gen, etc) will their GPUs just go up in price as they become more attractive for AI work?
Possible
No bad products only bad prices
Quaj spitting straight fax
Also, maybe we see LTR (Lite Token Rate) gpus?
If amd believes it's worth more they'll do it
idk if this would be possible but yeah
What would be the point of this?
Mining is long dead after all, barely profitable
just like stopping miners from guying 'gaming' gpus; but for AI instead of mining
Long dead on consumer hardware*
I guess Token can also refer to crypto lol
Asics never died
Not really a stock issue currently
Afaik it's all artificial scarcity at this point
yeah that was more a followup to my previous theoretical
Basically yes, nvidia allocated most of their resources to the much more profitable AI market
Also Nvidia prob put more into the server AI accelerator market since that's where alot of companies are trying to purchase things
Yeah
800% profit margin goes crazy
Peter parker glasses meme dot PNG
Michael Jackson eating popcorn dot gif
these people are litterally scientifically breaking down their chances of getting a card
Its a massive think tank, they do this stuff day after day hour after hour
It will be interesting
inb4 $800
My screenshot?
Both lmao
https://www.rxddit.com/r/pcmasterrace/comments/1ielv8j/nvidias_50_series_performance_charts_be_like/

I will post this in the Nvidia discord later if you want lmao
Up to you 💀
how to get alerts for restocking?
We don't have that here
anyone have any idea if newegg is pulling in any more 5090 stock? I was reading on reddit that the 5080 bundles have been popping up randomly
mostly curious if there is a specific time they would show up in stock, or it's random.
No idea, no one works at newegg
Except the admins, who are in admin and not inventory
Better yet, used 4080 since it's only 5% worse than the 5080 anyway at 1440p
Or a used XTX for that matter
Lmao
I should also post this in the nvidia discord
Can anyone help explain why my graphics card is bottlenecking this hard?
because the 7800x3d is the second best gaming cpu, and im assuming youre playing at 1440p
a bottleneck isnt a bad thing, it isnt killing your pc. it just means your cpu has performance that isnt being used
Ngl
oh yeah 1440p with fsr, which also puts more load onto the cpu
The numbers look accurate
😦
I could be wrong, but it looks like you have really high settings
why? it's not a bad thing
i want 144 frames like, always haha
14gb vram usage is like almost 4K max settings
then turn settings down...
dang
Turn the right settings down
^^
👀
And you'll get better fps and it'll look virtually identical
a lot of settings are almost identical between medium, high, and max
Otherwise better exists in more money
like 3d resolution in fortnite KILLS performance
like my 3060 ti could barely handle 45%
Do your research on which to change pikmin
I'm willing to throw money at better
or just fiddle with it
It's very easy to get like, 30% more fps
there is not anything better that makes sense
Just by optimising settings
xtx/4080/5080 are all 15% or under increases
oof
you can go for a used 4090 if you really want to, but a new 5090 will likely run you $3500+
fair enough
imo more like 4k+ for the forseeable future
I'd love to continue that with "Well why don't you try..." But the high end market is chaos rn. Prices at covid levels in many areas
Not even remotely worth suggesting better than what you got
50 series is a flop
yeahhh lol
if amd releases a 9070xtx later on that could be interesting
9070xt looks to be slightly worse than the 7900xtx
Oh wow ok no df guides
Well it's good in the way that it'll be cheaper and consume less power than the XTX
Mess with aliasing
Go high but not necessarily dlaa
Uh
Any rt off
Small object shadows low
Draw distance mess until you're comfortable
Small object details medium
What else am I missing
I have pretty kuch everything on ultra
Reflections you can run medium to high on many games without rt and it looks decent
guess I should change that lol
Yeah you should try dialing some of these suggestions
You'll likely find a LOT of fps
And it won't look any real different to before
I'll do that rn
If you see something you don't like, flick settings back
Go one at a time
I highly recommend keeping high or ultra texture settings though
And at a minimum shadows and reflections at medium
Generally speaking those can be very impactful
Particle effects too but those can be really severe on fps
I often default low there if I need more fps
Looks a little weird but easy to accept
Watch a few other digital foundry guides for ideas, they have other games, it'll show you what some stuff does
Also df isn't the only optimisation guide either
But test with stuff until you see what you like with the right fps
A 7900XT is fast af for Cod 6
I definitely haven't utilized df enough
I think it only loses to a 5090 or xtx iirc
They're great. I gained like 40% fps on average in every guide I used from them
With little to no image loss
Well
Little
Sometimes a bit but not in a way I hate, personally
But sometimes no difference
welp, off to the lab I go then 🙂
I'll figure it out
thanks you've been a great help!

Stay away from the 50 series lol
oh i plan on it
Lol
I should join just to watch the chaos unfold
@livid idol i could shoot you a link
Sigh, I'd consider a used 4090, but one of the biggest appeals of the 5090 is that I have a monitor with display port 2.1, and I would like a GPU that has one too
Golly gee I cant imagine you would have to wait more than 20 HOURS for a computer part
XTX
the hoops these people jump through for a 50 series are absolutely insane
Might as well be the olympics
I'm the wrong person to talk about this, I stood outside a best buy in freezing weather to get my GPU lol
But that was only about 14 hours
That was probably a good card though
At least I had fun, a bunch of people in line brought their Switches so we played Mario Kart. I kicked their butts.
I bet everyone in line for a 50 series is really really on edge and at each others throats
😂
Just the amount of tension is probably unreal
Yep that happened in my line too. There was a tent set up near the front of the line, obviously they meant it to hold a spot. But when it was 15 minutes before opening this big family rolls up with like 14 people and tries to push everyone back. Things got physical, cops got called, they were removed.
Nah man you don't get to do that while we waited 12-24 hours
Wait there was a tent with nobody in it?
yep lol
only
Hey it was the last in person restock that best buy did, my last chance to buy something that would actually function as expected because the 3090 newegg sold me did not
If was smashed and ripped by the end of the scuffle
i never knew u had a 3090
or maybe I do and I cant remember
Well yeah, they thought they'd have 14 people bump the whole line
It was the worst 3090 that ever existed
It was honestly a 30 -90
Which one?
Wtf?
VRAM would throttle it just playing a game
I got artifacting playing fallout 4 from memory issues
I repasted and repadded, no dice. Put a giant heatsink on the backplate. Still sucked.
FELIX NO
You don't understand lmao
It was later going to corrode
At least my 3090ti is still running fine, so I'm not desperate, but I built the rest of my new 9800x3d system and it's a bit depressing to look at it without a GPU in it
His 3090 was actually really bad roflmao
How are you 65th out of 57
Try as I might I couldn't get that thing to score above 19.5k in time spy. I got this 3080 ti and got it to 21k immediately.
That's like... Alienware level of throttling
And yes I turned it into an active backplate to fight the throttling, it didn't help
Or, it did help for a little bit, it added some thermal mass to the backplate but it still throttled so it must have been the front VRAM and not the reverse side.
that picture has such an aura to it and i cant describe it
That loop would've died anyway tho
Gigabyte never fixed the alu mixing bs
Planned obsolescence
I would describe it as an Aorus
Either the loop would have killed it or the force-bundled P850GM would have
3090 was ultra spiky in the earlier days before drivers tamed it
Yeah either ||a||or||us|| tbh
The P850GM I had died but didn't take anything with it luckily
3080 in the system at the time

One of them was so bad that I did the paperclip test to see if it would start and smelled magic smoke immediately
do you both do anything computer related for work or is it all just a hobby? cause ik felix has multiple pcs
I do it for work too
Mix
Good chunk of what I have is hobbying tbh
But I use it as much as possible
ah gotcha gotcha
since I havnt found any fix and it’s been a really long time would yall just give up atp if you were me? Laptop still works but just not for games. I can always overclock the Gpu an extra 400mhz to maybe get an extra 20-40 frames but ofc that’s still leaving like 50-70% of the performance just locked away behind the issue
And if I want to get it replaced I’d have to do small claims court since Msi is choosing to ignore me every time I’ve worked with them
Try a BBB complaint. I had the same issue with HP and their VP of customer relations emailed me personally within 24 hours of the complaint.
Those BBB complaints go straight to the top and the higher ups just want you to disappear, so they'll do just about anything within reason to fix things.
As far as actually fixing it, yeah I'd give up on that personally by this point
Make sure if you send it to them it has all the original firmware on it
Yeah I’ve been told that’s another option. Wanted to see if I could fix it before doing all that though. It would be really annoying if they try to spin the fault onto me but I’m fairly certain I still have proof of this being an issue before I did any troubleshooting so let’s hope they don’t try it 💀
The only thing that won’t be original is the recovery partition in the included ssd. However I’m pretty sure it’s within reason that the partition would be deleted if you followed Microsoft’s recommended fresh install instructions
That falls under software which you're totally free to modify
I was more concerned about the gpu vbios
Yeah I made sure to save the vbios way back when this all started. Should be good then
Hello, im new to the server, i was just wondering if I should be paying attention to certain days or times that restocks might happen or any information that might help me get a MSI 5080 inspire model off of newegg
I'm afraid we can't really help you there
No one here works for Newegg except the admins, and they work in a completely different area from inventory
ah, thats ok. I was pretty disappointed on launch day, virtually no stocks from any vendors across the board, site issues, etc. Hopefully we can expect some good news in the near future
One thing I do know right now is the factories are currently shut down for Lunar New Year observance. It can take a few weeks to get back up to full production capacity. I wouldn't expect any major restocks until March at the earliest.
Maybe a sprinkling here and there before that
the only thing on that laptop that WAS user error was its hinge being broken. the hinge design on those laptops are really wimpy for how heavy the laptop actually is so if anyone (in my case it was a kid) picks it up by the display a couple times and for long enough it'll bulge and only be held together by the glue on the cover for the display instead of the actual hinges screws. after enough use this progresses onto the cover starting to peel off and eventually that one hinge is no longer attached to the display. would they be able to deny the claim because of this even though it has nothing to due with the actual issue at hand?
They would have to prove that the hinge damage caused the power problem, which is a tall order
awesome
Also you can totally claim warranty for a defective hinge design so go ahead and include that in the RMA request so they're not surprised when it gets there
this laptop is definetely out of warranty. its probably the main reason they ignored me so many times
Ah I see. I'd still go the BBB route and see where that leads. Make sure to mention that the issue started while it was still in warranty and you're now out of warranty because they ignored you. That'll light a fire under their asses for sure because that's a lawsuit waiting to happen.
alright, thanks
looks like all the 5090 bundles are gone from newegg, wonder if they're prepping to put up different ones 🤔
I'd be taking a bit of a break from hunting imo
It sucks but I reckon this will be ongoing for at least a couple months
If you can hold on just a liitttllleee bit longer
Then you'll be able to roll up without issues
Wow almost like I CALLED IT
I just check it occasionally, I don't sit around refreshing the website constantly.
seems like theres no positive news in the gaming segment of pcs anymore
9800x3d was like the last good thing
We need an intel arc b770 as a savior, 20-24gb of vram and raster performance of a 7900xt or better.
Someone said the B580 was gonna get a 24 gig model
How usable is the 3080 10gb at 4k nowadays? Someone told me that “it gets killed” due to the vram.
Obviously higher settings are preferred but I really would not have an issue using DLSS and like medium settings.
Not very well
The 4090 can't handle 60 fps at 4k ultra settings without dlss in some games
(tbf these are typically games where the unltra settings are heavy raytracing/pathtracing)
Thats true
but yeah 10gb might be a little rough for 4k. 1440p would be a better option for 3080
Yea I wouldn’t be looking to run RT at all
Currently running at 1440 was trying to see if I could stagger upgrades bc I’m really not impressed with the GeForce 50 series
Ik it’s a massive uplift for my card but I don’t wanna “reward” selling the 70 as an 80 this year
based
could look for a used 4080 super, or wait and see what AMD comes out with
Game changer? More like we need a price and name changer lol
Thats the background for their discord logo thing
That’s 100% what I’m leaning towards rn, saw some vids that said they are targeting 4080S performance for raster 4070TI for RT and about a 600$ price
If they hit that I think I’ll have no choice but to go red and pray FSR 4 is actually good lol
I'd take an oled 1440p over 4k any day of the week
I'm regularly getting close to or exceeding 12GB VRAM and I play at 1440p
But you can always turn down texture quality if you run out
Amy reason for that? Im weighing out going to an oled 4k. Thats why I didn’t wanna do both at the same time lol
Higher refresh rates mostly
And unless you're going for 32+ inches, 4k is just too high pixel density at an average sitting distance
And as for the GPU I wouldn't expect to be able to get much until March at the earliest. The 9070 XT looks interesting.
100% my thoughts. And yea that’s why I was trying to see about the 3080 capabilities so I wasn’t totally wasting money on the monitor
Oled just makes more of a difference in most people's gaming experiences
You could turn settings down to low and the 3080 should be able to do about 40 fps at 4k
Lmfao that bad?! Damn so like 70-90 with DLSS on if I’m lucky
Some games are easier to run but modern stuff like black myth, yeah it's that bad
Hmm ok maybe that’s what I’ll look to do then. I currently have a 1440p 165hz from dell that I got like 4 years ago when I built the system.
I’m going to be giving my wife the GPU/panel when I upgrade she is currently on a 5600xt and a real old office monitor lol
Yea you and me both lol
Still crushes at 1440 that’s why I was curious about the 4k
Hmmm
what is this sorry
Port Royal
The ray tracing benchmark
No clue, sorry. None of us work for Newegg.
Best guess I have is late March
Gotcha np thanks guys
Sounds good to me and when it does lunch do u think I'll be able to get one or do they go in minutes
Sometimes they go out of stock before they ever go in stock
They're gone in seconds if you do get an "in stock" page
The bots can load faster than you can click
Nvidia 50 series for 500 please
So the 5060 ti? You'll be waiting a while
Oh
I might consider a 5050 if they make one with 12 gigs of Vram for under 400
5060 ti will have a 16GB version with a nerfed bit bus again like 4060 ti did
In fact lemme just save you some time, here's what we know
A lot of this looks very familiar but increased core count and power limits compared to 40 series
Oh and GDDR7 but it's not the magic pill we hoped for in this configuration, it's still limited by the bus
4060 ti is worse than the 3070 so you might as well just get a 3070
It's literally just 40 series with new vram and new names
Ah
Guys sorry my media server started talking
Hmm
7700 XT crushes both too
Definitely interesting
Yeah i had a look at the 7700XTs
It is newer and a slightly better perfoming card
Minecraft looks really good with RTX
...and the 3070 only got 8gb vram which is likely going to start being more and more of a problem for it in coming years
Used 3080/4070, or go AMD
So does the 4060 ti though, unless you spend an extra $150 on the 16GB model, at which point you can buy a 4070
Yeah I wasn't trying to reccomend the 4060ti, just saying that the 3070 is barely better
But it is cheaper as well as better so you might as well
I have tried so hard to justify a nvidia card, and i just dont think i can
The only thing i like about the nvidia cards is power draw, ray tracing and apparently the drivers are nicer to deal with, and, a better resale value when i go to sell
Thats It
Everything else has me going hard towards a RX6800
Things like vram, price, memory bandwidth and such
You think I could Run a dual gpu if I got a 4070 and a 3060ti?
For what
what are you planning to do with it? not many things can use multiple GPUs now
RIP SLI
Rest in piss
Idk my pc had the automatic repair loop and I tried everything to fix it
It won’t even let me reset it completely
Automatic repair could just be from you turning the PC on and off in a short span of time?
Idk the context
I just pops up the blue screen with automatic repair and I tried to fix it but it’s bein weird
I think the issue is the blue screening not what comes after???
What's the error code on the blue screen?
Huh wdym
Stock normalization for 5090 is predicted for late May, which is insane. 4 months of waiting I guess
The real upgrade
it'll have 48gb vram and be about 10% better than the 5090
Get ready for 10x MFG
All the frames are AI generated and all the game has to do is provide wireframe and vector info. It loads textures using directstorage.
Stop giving me hope for direct storage :(
I still wish that it gets better and implemented more often
MFG 8×
Ratchet and Clank gets better 1% lows if you just delete the DS libraries from the game folder
Lol
Seems like NgreedAi is going to suffer this gen with their 5080. Less people care
Eh the Nvidia discord tells a different story
I was actually looking at 4070TI Supers until i found out they are like 700 dollars
Lmfaoooo
Shills
lol yeah. In the Intel discord everyone was hyping up the 285K like it was the best thing that would ever exist... and then the reviews happened
Even that thing sold out
But the 245 and 265 did not

What I hate more than anything about these stock issues
Is that nvidia discontinued old gen
So no matter how you cut these, they will sell, they've given everyone no alternative
AMD is unexpectedly winning from this as the bad hype is turning positive as people actually feel like they couldn't possibly be any worse anymore, just poorly priced
Yeah basically
Nvidia is fully aware of this, and they're also very aware that they're losing gamer market share to AMD
You'd be surprised but it's true
We are a small facet if you compare to market research
The gaming division at Nvidia is the only one that posted a loss in profits last I checked
Radeon is at like one of it's all time lows of about 8% as of 2024 Q3
I remember checking this
I really need them to do something good in march to sway me away from a 6800
If you ask me, buying one will be hell
This is gonna be wild west for months
They have stock, but I bet they'll get scalped and swept up hard if it's even remotely good
Ah
To me buying last gen at a slightly better premium, right this point in time, more appealing
Yes, there's value potential
Mhm for sure
Alright well that’s good advice, I really need to grind hard for a few weeks then go snag a 6800, my job situation is bleh atm which is why i havent pulled the trigger
You could wait a week or so, see if it gets better for Nvidia's side of things
Yeah
If anything I would be compelled to a 7800XT or 7700XT personally
Just because they have chances of FSR 4 compatibility
6800 won't
If you don't mind this, it's fine
Yeah i had a good look at the 7700xt but the memory bus is 192 vs 256 for the 6800, idk if that matters too much
Ah?
Which grossly reduces bit bus needs
Yeah
It's something like
312bit nvidia is equivalent to like 256bit amd?
Something like that
It's actually a great tech in the right spot
It's better next to team green easy
But in terms of actual impact, minimal
You'd see bigger impact changing to pcie gen 2 on your motherboard
Yeah like i said ive been looking for a few weeks to replace my rx580 8 gig, its all window shopping and research arm
All good
I have a B450 Tomahawk Max if that matters
I'm just keeping everyone in tune with my thinking
Cos a lot of us have seen what covid did
And not even 40 series was this bad
But I'm the numbers guy
I see everything for what it is
Lol if I suddenly turn around in a sweat-fuelled panic saying "Buy a 3080 now now now" I'll have a good reason 😂
Infinity fabric is one of the reasons why AMD is better at 1080p than 4k, relative to Nvidia
Meanwhile Intel has API layer advantages so they have inverse scaling
4k needs to access textures more frequently, more memory load, but less bandwidth available
You'll be fine, just not intel arc
Oh wait no b450 has rebar doesn't it
It does yes
It's B350/A320 that might not depending on the model
Up until like 4080/XTX you can run a combo with a b450
Ah nice i have a 1080P monitor
No issues
Smh
Thats good! Yeah those 2 cards are what ive basically narrowed it down to the last few weeks
Sorry I don’t have 2 grand? I guess?
I have the money and that's too much
For a gpu
There aren't even that many good games that I'm willing to play nowadays either
It wont stop until people quit buying it
This is the problem that I've run into recently too. Only one of the games I have installed currently even supports DLSS at all, and that's No Man's Sky.
Minecraft runs perfectly fine on AMD
It's not a hardware ray tracing thing in that game, it's software
Even then amd raytracing at the high end has no problem running ray tracing on minecraft lol, ive done it myself in 1440p high render distance, high everything
Just no pathtracing and youre good lol
XTX runs at 75 fps on 1080p ultra, 51 at 1440p ultra
Which yes is lower than Nvidia
But still very playable, especially if you reduce inconsequential settings
I would never recommend maxing RT settings in any game tbh, except for screenshots
Yep
On gre i can play the second highest sildurs shaders at a VERY high render and settings w 1440p and consistently get about 100fps
There really is just zero point maxing it out
When going one tier down looks the exact same
Diminishing returns
Why set ultra when high looks nearly the same after all
Yeah id probably be doing RT at 1080 lol
I want a 1440P monitor and thats probably gonna be my next upgrade after the GPU again
What pc setup you running now?
Depending on what you have that could entail more than just a gpu upgrade, psu for example
AMD Ryzen 5 5600X
AMD RX580 8GB
MSI B450 Tomahawk Max
EVGA 600G? Bronze PSU
32g 3200 DDR4 quad channel
1TB Samsung 980 SSD
1TB HDD
Phanteks P500A Case
Part List - Radeon RX 7800 XT
thats what i would recommend personally for new
but for me i would try and get a used 6950 xt in good condition if possible
although thats weaker ray and upscaling if you care about that
especially on a bronze rated gpu i would not recommend that
also if youre upgrading from a 580 i would recommend jumping a bit ahead and sticking to a 7800xt, its a nice bit of extra vram and raster that i think is worth it in the long run
Ah okay
although a 7700xt isnt a bad choice at all, i just think going the extra foot since you kind of already need a new psu anyways is worth it
even if it means saving up a bit
Yeah currently between jobs lol, i will be saving a bit for this
then id just wait and check back when youre able to, prices always fluctuating and what not
but for the processor you have and all that i do think a 7800xt would be a really sweet addition especially if you want to try 1440p
Yeah definitely
Ill keep an eye on prices, hopefully they move closer to the low 400s for the next few weeks
shoot youd be lucky to get 450 new
if you can get a 7700xt for 380 or similar i honestly might opt for that instead
Yeah i was seeing 6800s for like 365-370 and 7700XTs for low 400s
for what you want id stray from the 6000 series tbh
Oki dole
Yeah the VRAM is what leaned me towards that
bedrock edition rtx brings my 6950xt to its knees
java shaders run amazing tho
bedrock sucks anyways so
Yeah i play exclusively java
Java for me too
i do not want the bedrock jank
i play 99% java
occasionally bedrock to join a bedrock server
Bugrock
Badrock
Bedrock is the version of minecraft for when you or your friend only has a mobile device or console
real
i played alot of it on my pc just because i had a server with friends who were on all consoles and i wanted to play
it was fun for me to turn on rtx and take pictures of their bases and stuff for them
ex:
pretty sure I built that iirc
i didnt have any of theirs on hand but i found one lol
water doesnt look great in that one but still cool
He do be rt'in
That's hideous
I hate this
@ashen canyon asus a.s.s.t.r.a.i.l.
Looks like i will get a used 6800XT after all

specifally an XFX Swift 319 6800 XT for 250 plus shipping which comes out to bout 280 euros
Oh wow
Nice snag
hes properly scamming himself lol
You got proof of it working right?
i was talking about getting one locally and he was like you want mine for 250 once i upgrade
He was literally using it until today when he picked up his 7900XTX and yes i do aswell
Hes ran furmark for me
and just shown me how it does in Valhalla and RDR2
even a cheeky gpu coil whine vid
though it isnt with anything running so there isnt much
he admitted its sometimes noticable in quiet cutscenes in games
dudes been nothing but honest
(obviously the bottom card)
when my gre is running at 100% you can hear the living hell out of it in quiet cutscenes, it has pretty intense coil whine
i currently use a single fan card so i hear nothing 😭
he said the fans were louder though
i use a tri fan
yeah well i think tri fan for a 1060 3gb is slightly overkill
undervolt maybe?
Also my gpu is desperatly hot it needs new thermal paste but i am way to scared to be doing allat
maybe idk
85c under full load
have you done paste on a cpu cooler before?
its the same process
Dubs
(which is basically any game)
my mem gets to about 88 on full load
yeah but it doesnt seem too fun to do with a gpu
just watch a tutorial for your specific card
its worth it for the cooling
even if youre replacing it
why so if its getting replaced
actually it might be a good idea to chuck that in a small secondary system
maybe if i sell it ill repaste it and test it
use it like a server, for recording space, theres a lot of uses you could have
I thought about that
find some used igpu system and boom
but i really dont have much use for a NAS
fair
nor something like Plex server since i just use stremio
idk theres just a lot of qol you can have from a secondary sytem
if only most people werent trying to sell their century old gaming rigs for a bit expensive prices
plus you can have an easier time reselling honestly
lmao fair
easier yeah but i might just lose money on
Cause i also have a CPU laying around from my recent upgrade lol
and that cpu is dog
1300X
1300x and a 6800xt would've been coughing baby vs atomic bomb
if you could find an old ddr3 system for 100 or so thatd be pretty good honestly
but then the 1300x sits on a shelf again
i just read that
Smh read faster
bacca i hope when you go to bed tonight both sides of your pillows are miserably hot
mans needs a new brain gpu to render the words faster
like sweaty
i was tabbed out 💀
Fair
bro accepted his fate 💀
Oh hey I'm on Vyvanse too
yup
Yeah
never heard of Vyvanse though
its the only adhd med that works for me
It works a lot better for me than Adderall or focalin
i probably have adhd but im not gonna get diagnosed for allat
strattera was
something else
every day i felt like there was sand in my mouth
like i had rabies or something lmao
Never tried that one
I dont take my vyvanse often, just when I need to have a productive day
It makes my sleep worse
Same
It went from like 4-6 hours of sleep to 1-3
yikes
no wonder you dont take it daily
although vyvanse works way better when you do
what milli are you on?
i take 10 and am planning to up the dose a smidge here in the future
also i only take it in the early morning, 7 to 8
only 10
im tempted to try 20
drugs are bad don't do drugs cause they're bad
XRP tells me all i need to know
it means more drugs for us
hes too busy snorting xrp
Did bro just throw slurs via emoji
Gotta give credit for the creativity I guess
what happened
^
in baccas profile she says queer etc
and blud is reacting with that crap 💀
lol sorry
its okay lol
Oh thanks I wasn't even gonna bother lmao
Ty naht
aye np
most people like that are repeat offenders
so its nice when it gets nipped in the bud
has anyone seen if newegg has ever restocked any 5090's since launch? And if so, is there a time when they usually put them up?
One option is to buy a pre built with the 5090 if your in a desperate rush. Resell the components.
Other than that, no. No word yet as far as I am aware.
Or just wait 6 months until the rush is over cos this is catastrophically bad imo
Especially the latest news
Not a rare occurrence either
What does it mean by bricked? I haven't gotten to far into it.
.
Are they literally disabling the cards that the bot purchased or?
Install card
Load windows
DDU then install drivers (Or just update drivers to a 50 series one)
Black screen
No display, GPU vbios bricked
Oh s
It's likely repairable with a CH341a but not without opening it, depending on how bad it might be irreparable
Didn't someone joke that this was going to happen like last month....
Well either way I couldn't be more glad to skip
Come back in 6 months when the drivers and scalping are fixed
Cos this is the worst launch we've had in 15 years
Like it or not I have other medical and home bills to pay again
So it's back to plan B
4090 day 1 didn't have problems like this
Pay bills, get a monitor and PSU upgrade, save for card
The cables bring to long right?
I heard they shortened it this time around.
Being
And no
Improper plug insertion
Which I had to explain to every single 4080 or 4090 owner back then
PLUG ALL THE WAY
CHECK 3 TIMES
A lot of people didn't know this
I'd have to tell them to check right before they turned it on the first time as moving it around can wiggle it loose
Even in the proper cases, if you have a native cable, it can melt on both sides
It did in the above article
People think native makes it better, it does not, less 12vhpwr plugs in the system AT ALL, the better
The 8 pin converting adapters are safer, and you check the plug is in all the way at the final step by pushing it in one more time
12vhpwr is a nightmare imo
The new cable just looks like they use a nicer paracord sleeve
So it bends better
Cos the bend itself wasn't the issue it was the resulting pins coming loose from strain
Be it plug or pins themselves
I wonder how they works with dual bios cards
Then you've probably lost one bios
And the other one is fine so you can check the card isn't dead before claiming warranty
Two bullets in the chamber, if you lose a vbios then you lose a vbios
Needs an spi to un-corrupt it
All that story tells me is it is extremely risky to try and use a 50 series card rn
The drivers are clearly wildly immature
It's crazy how unprepared Nvidia seems to be for this launch
February is probably the worst time to release too with the lunar new year
It's not to be honest it all makes sense, they cannot ship enough AI chips so you betcha they gonna put gpus on second place to their real money makers. Plus is not like the have any competition or any hurry to have stock.
Ah
If it isn't something to mess up my upgrade
The 6800xt is 34cm long
My case is 34cm long on the inside
Now I have to spend like 80 bucks on a case
The case I wanted: out of stock
Rn I'm looking at a thermaltake level 20 VT and h5 flow (2022)
Check out the phanteks xt pro, sama 3509, and montech xr
All relatively cheap and great cases
Also thermalright c12c 3 pack if you need case fans (phanteks needs em in front)
i can get Corsair ML120s for like 20 bucks fans wont be an issue
(for 4)
Either more money than the cases i listed
or just unavialable
C12c 3 pack is like $13
I'd get new c12cs personally
unavialable locally
theres this offer
but thats like 13 bucks a fan
yeah ive looked at it
GPU wont fit
Theres the CC560 which it will fit in i believe
Also you need some more reputable brands
?
ive literally never heard of NIKO computers macedonia 😭
top right brotha
Yeah the CC560 does fit the gpu
and its the same price as the CC360
its just bigger and comes with an extra fan
I wanted the CG580 but its out of stock everywhere
its such a good looking case
Also keep in mind the H5 flow is like 10 bucks more compared to this
But its also white
so boooo
Cg560>
H5 flow is ok but nothing special
Yeah cg560 and cc560 are the best options I see on that site
The newer version is a bit nicer but not much of a difference cooling wise
https://www.anhoch.com/products/atx-midi-tower-case-deepcool-cc560-mesh-v2-argb-black-wusb-30-4x-120mm-led-fans-3060
why specifically the cc560 over the h5?
ARGB but imo it looks worse
nvm the old one also has an ARG version
Nzxt cases are just generally overhyped, their fans tend to be mediocre at best (h6 flow has especially bad fans,) and just as a brand I'm very much not a fan
There's also the thermaltake s200
The CG580 though
I love the H6 flow for looks 😭
Out of stock btw i wanted to get this
i love the dual glass casses
just too bad they're either extremly cheap
or extremely expensive
the cg580 was the only midrange one
Maybe look for the thermaltake view series
Or gamemax has some cheap cases like that, just a matter of if they're sold there
none of them are sold here
Idk why I'm still subscribed but man I disagree with this thumbnail completely
Ah hell no
He lives 30 mins from me ima go jump him
Then sell it for double the price he was
💀
"Mainly looking to trade for an RTX 4090. If not, will sell high for $1,795 that will help me buy one due to its rarity/shortage. Will lose to an RTX 4090 in rasterization performance but will outperform the 4090 in triple A title games, such as cyberpunk and black myth wukong, using NVIDIA DLSS 4 with its Multi Frame Generation & Enhancements"
Even the scalper is trying to push MFG lmao
What a joke
This is what a failed launch looks like honestly
Lmao
Yeah it's very clear they also wanted the 5080 to be useless to AI work
I think that's the real reason vram is skimped
how much would u guys pay for a gaming trio 3080
a guy is selling 1 for 500 is it worth it or under cut
10gb
Ti 12gb 10gb
Ah
Yeah no way
425 max
ESPECIALLY if it's the gaming trio and not gaming X or Z trio
is all gpu compatible with all motherboards
The regular trio has a plastic backplate
let me c
Yeah it's fine
You can put a 3080 in any system within like the last 20 years and it'll work if the power supply is sufficient lmao
