Few people look at the low miles and think about the likelihood of dried up seals from sitting for so long. Sure it runs and drives, but for how long before those seals give out?

I kid you not, I drove on them for 2 years before getting new ones just because of a simple uneven wear pattern making a vibration noise making left turns at speed. Well the way I usually did it is after taking the heads off id put it on a flat surface with the valves closed and poured water into the recession on the combustion chamber

If valves leak water, they'll leak air = bad valve

My Focus was fun at first. I started to get the nasty clutch shuddering of course. About a year in I took it in to have it diagnosed at a local shop we trust. He couldn't find the exact issue but he told us the battery was low

Knowing the battery was giving out a low voltage, I knew that replacing it would make it feel nicer to drive and not have it shudder as much. Sure enough, if helped

Its ABS module failed a few months ago. The guy who fixed it said that it needed a new clutch (ngl, I believed him. My father was gonna pay for the repair anyways lol). We had the new clutch fitted in, a new battery a month later (old one was super low for some reason). The transmission has never felt so nice

But then I got some weird engine vibration so I just decided to trade it in. Now I'm driving a Mk7.5 GTI

Yeah the guy my family takes their cars to is actually pretty trustworthy. My brother got his truck a year ago (two years ago?) and he's taken his truck there several times in a month. Not a single scam surprisingly lol

He'd take his truck in practically no issue (he thought something was wrong but nothing was wrong) and the guys there would be like "yeah there's no issue" and charge him an inexpensive diagnostics fee at the worst (which I think is like somewhere less than $100)

When I go in I tell them the exact details, because I'll usually diagnose it myself before them. So for my brake lights on the mgb, they kept going out but it was a short. I just told them put in a whole new harness I don't wanna deal with freaking wires anymore 😭

Only thing is I had to save the harness and do the other half myself because for some reason they don't include the seat belt sensors anymore in the wiring or the alarm hookups

Lemme tell you, my 95 ran out of transmission fluid completely, chugging up a hill and would keep rolling, I filled that sucker up and it didn't even feel like the transmission was ruined
