Most places will do a quick multi point check off the car, filters, and other fluids when you go in for an oil change by default. It gives them a chance to upsell you, after all.

timid moth

# balmy egret That’s why rally is better lol

Rally races are SO much more technical and there's a lot more that goes into them. Driver skill still matters a lot, but you also need a lot of good support or else you won't know when you can cut corners or when you'll smack a rock if you do.

timid moth
#

rally requires a lot of precision and reaction

#

formula 1 also needs quick reaction but the cars themselves are very agile compared to rally cars

#

and also the danger factor comes along

#

rally is a crazy sport

faint wadi
#

F1 is a more predictable sport. Sure, anything can happen when there's a bunch of cars on the road. But in a rally, there's a lot less control over the road itself.

pearl pollen
timid moth
# pearl pollen How is it? What’s your opinion so far?

its definitely a mixed bag for me, like there are some good stuff about the game but in its current state I can't really recommend it until most of the issues are ironed out
Issues like:
-Poor Optimization (Widely talked about from various pc configs - even high end)
-Server instability (Sometimes the servers would just not work and races too - sucks that this game is following the online only model - many people faced login issues but with a recent patch they are slowly getting in)
-Lack of proper visual technologies (Xess, New FSR, Proper DLSS, working framegen)
-Few visual bugs
-Missing core TDU features like houses, unique speedometers for each vehicle, casinos, etc
-Customization is limited but that's not too much of an issue for me
-Steering wheel animation is not great
-Region locked

Now for the good stuff
-Cars sound really good
-Physics are fine and cars actually react to the environment
-Environment detail is really good and map is large for a racing game (not as big as the previous tdu titles though)
-Somewhat proper progression
-Exploration is actually enjoyable
-Lobby can go up to 32 people (but i haven't experienced that yet)
-Offroad regions

Overall the game is fun when it works, and I really hope that this game at launch actually makes a name for itself. Mind you that I'm playing a demo build and they claimed that it is an early one, the question is how early???
Anyways if you have a capable rig to play this then you're fine. If they can iron out most of the issues I said here then the game will turn out great (even if I don't like live services). It has potential!

pearl pollen
#

Hmmm probably best review I’ve seen of it so far, thank ya sir

#

I’ll put it on the list as a “definite maybe”

timid moth
faint wadi
#

Typically by the time a beta test launches they already have a couple new builds lined up, and if the devs are smart they'll tell players to focus on specific features they've had issues with.

timid moth
#

true, they really should've called this an open beta playtest instead of naming it as a "demo" on both their steam page and social media

#

atleast doing so will cut the unnecessary negative responses

faint wadi
#

Demo implies that the game is done and this is a "demonstration" of what you can expect the full game to look like so I can see why there would be confusion

I get U0121(00) codes

south yew
#

Mine came on because electric power steering was affected by the ABS not working, it was a cascade of crap for just a little thing lol

#

Oh, that's not a speed sensor, U are communication codes

#

Canbus communication errors or loss of comm

#

Could be a fuse or some green crusties in a wire or connector

balmy egret
#

Yeah so I'm thinking it's either a blown fuse (hopefully because that's an easy fix) or a torn/broken cable

#

Loss of connection is somewhere (at least that's what I'm thinking)

south yew
#

ON the right track there. Does the ABS mnodule show up in the scan tool?

#

If so, not a fuse but a cable issue between other modules, etc.

balmy egret
#

There's several "U0121(00)" codes that mention the ABS

#

One of them:
U0121(00) [0xC12100] Data bus, anti-lock brake system (ABS) control module - no communication Status: Test failed, Test failed (current drive cycle), Pending, Confirmed, Test failed since last DTC clear, Warning indicator requested

south yew
#

So probs mean other modules can't see the ABS module

#

Can you communicate with the ABS module in the scanner and read codes from it? If not, defo dead module

balmy egret
#

I'm not sure. I can't go downstairs to my car rn either (I'm in my gf's apartment. Long story short, she has the elevator and she took it with her while meeting with friends at the movies. I don't have an elevator key lol)

south yew
#

oh haha! Sometimes elevators suck

#

Just a quick check for you then. This isn't a Hyundai is it?

balmy egret
#

I have a saved report. I'll narrow it down from the other codes so it's just the ABS module (I'm sure that's the issue)

#

nah it's a Ford. The American Hyundai

south yew
#

Ok, good. They currently have an ABS recall out with no resolution for brake fluid leaking onto the board and causing a short

balmy egret
#

Yikes I didn't even know that

#

Ford Focus if that helps

south yew
#

If the fuse does turn out to be blown, be sure to pull the module connector and check for corrosion.

balmy egret
south yew
#

YW

balmy egret
#

@south yew I wouldn't mind driving it without ABS, but I think it forces the parking brake to be engaged. I have to drive ~130 miles back home and it's expensive to tow it otherwise. Is there a way I could force the parking brake to disengage? Like is that even a thing?

south yew
#

It shouldn't force the parking brake to engage?

balmy egret
#

It does lol

#

Without me pulling up the parking brake handle

south yew
#

Uh

#

You have a mechanical parking brake lever to pull up on the center console?

balmy egret
#

Yes

#

I mean I get the parking brake light and the vehicle doesn't coast when it's in Drive

south yew
#

What year is this focus? Almost sounds like your rear brakes are stuck

balmy egret
#

2014

south yew
#

If you have a mechanical cable for the rear brakes, they shouldn't be able to be applied electronically

#

There's no way for that to happen. Another possibility is that the ABS module shorted out and is applying pressure to them

balmy egret
#

It's weird because I can put my car in Drive, let my foot off the brake, and the vehicle doesn't coast

#

Steering also feels weird too (feels generally stiffer)

south yew
#

Is this a Focus ST?

balmy egret
#

Focus Titanium (basically a Focus SE)

south yew
#

Gotcha

#

I'd wholly unplug the ABS module and see if the brakes unstick

#

if you can get to it

balmy egret
#

Yeah I'd have to look and see where it is

#

I hope I don't have to take apart a bunch of stuff lol

south yew
#

I'm looking

#

Lovely, module is discontinued.

#

According to what I'm seeing, it's on the drivers side next to the Vacuum chamber for the brakes

#

Should be a black circle, 6 brake lines and a large connector

#

Could also be the ABS code disabling your power steering

#

I don't know how similar yours is to a 2010 but on those it's behind the battery on the firewall.

#

Yeah, finally found a video, it's going to be under the battery :/ If you get to it, see if it's wet with brake fluid. Seems to be a common failure on those cars

balmy egret
#

I'll check if it's there but the 2010s are Mk2 Foci while my is a 2014 (Mk3 Focus)

#

lmaooo the first Google entry for "Chris Fix" is "Chris Fix brakes". perfect 💀

south yew
#

I found a video for the 2012+ Focus, it's behind the battery on the firewall

#

You MIGHT be able to reach the connector by removing the intake boot though

#

However, there are a lot of failures with those modules and them leaking or becoming corroded

balmy egret
#

Can you send the video please?

south yew
#

Lemme find it again, brb

balmy egret
#

Thanks

south yew
#

So, this is just for the fuse but if you watch the video the module is under the battery up against the firewall

balmy egret
#

Yeah the battery in this car (the model in general) corrodes a lot

south yew
#

I paused the vid at a few spots

#

You should be able to see the module if you grab a light and shine it under the battery from the side

balmy egret
#

Basically what I have lol

#

(that's not my cluster, but it's from a video with related issues)

south yew
#

Yeah and with the brakes being locked up, I'd say module is kaput

balmy egret
#

Darn

#

So it's not as simple as just a bad fuse?

south yew
#

I mean, it's also possible the rear pads are just stuck to the drums, back up a few feet then forward and see if they release. The Focus is also notorious for the E-brake lever on the caliper sticking

#

But with the ABS not having comms, I'd hesitantly say the module needs replaced.

balmy egret
#

Kinda what I'm thinking

#

My parents are coming to visit tomorrow so they can help

#

I'm like 2 hours away from home rn and they got a hotel for tonight to come visit tomorrow lol

south yew
#

Unplugging the module completely may relieve the pressure if the board shorted and is trying to run the motor

balmy egret
#

And then it shouldn't be too much more difficult to drive if that's the case, right?

#

Like I basically just won't have ABS and TC?

south yew
#

It's possible power steering will remain disabled

balmy egret
#

Yikes. Never driven without power steering lol

south yew
#

IDK exactly how that system works. Is it electronic PS or power steering pump like old school?

balmy egret
#

Electronic lol

#

So yeah probably no power steering

south yew
#

OH, that'll probably be disabled then

balmy egret
#

crap

#

lol

south yew
#

It still shouldn't be too tough though

balmy egret
#

2-hour drive back home with no PS lmao

#

yeah I mean when I'm moving it should be fine

south yew
#

Yup

balmy egret
#

Is there an easier alternative to taking out the whole ABS unit? Like just unplugging it? Perhaps even just removing the two fuses that it uses?

south yew
#

Fuses might work, not sure where all the power comes from though

balmy egret
#

yikes okay

south yew
#

If there's a relay yank that, that would be for the motor

balmy egret
#

Gotcha

south yew
#

Pump motor

balmy egret
#

Maybe I'm wrong lol

south yew
#

Battery to ABS module

balmy egret
#

Okay that makes sense

south yew
#

Technically the BCM to the ABS module, Battery feeds BCM as does the alternator

#

Or whatever Ford calls the fusebox. Everyone has a different name for it

balmy egret
#

Shows up as BCM in the scan lol

south yew
#

There ya go HAHA. SOme manu's call it weird stuff. TIPM is Chrysler

balmy egret
#

Bruh like what is that 💀

south yew
#

Hell if I know, all I know is it's the fusebox 😂

balmy egret
#

Yeah I just call it the fusebox. Universal code lol

south yew
#

Ah, Totally Integrated Power Module

balmy egret
#

bruh 💀

south yew
#

Very good name, totally good

balmy egret
#

I'm reading from a forum that some kid tried to take out his F7 fuse (40A, Anti-lock brake system/Electronic stability program pump) and it disabled his ABS, TC, whatever else (including a 4x4 system? Which is weird because Foci are FWD)

#

Man imma start practicing without ABS when sim racing now. Feels important to get a feel for when in situations like this lol

balmy egret
south yew
#

Fun thing, if you've never felt your brake pedal pulsate under your foot, you've never activated ABS. Most people will never even activate it

#

No labels under the fusebox lid? Have an owners manual?

balmy egret
#

Nah I know which ones are for the ABS lol. F7 and F19 in the engine bay

south yew
#

Ah, I'd still try and find the relay and yard that too

#

If it has one, it may not

balmy egret
south yew
#

Ah, ABS may have come on then

#

Or maybe module failing

balmy egret
#

I remember one scenario a couple weeks ago. Traffic in my lane suddenly came to a near-stop and I had to slam on my brakes. I heard my tires screech and idk how to describe it but the brake pedal felt like it went further than normal. Kinda felt weird lol

#

Idk if that's what it feels like when it activates though. And yeah it's weird that my tires even screeched in the first place (but I mean I REALLY) had to slam my brakes

south yew
#

Yeah, sinking pedal can be ABS

#

Depending on how it's modulated

balmy egret
#

yeah "sinking" is a better word for it

#

Might be off-topic but lowkey might get a better sim racing wheel after this goofy situation just to practice no ABS (I'm stuck on a 2Nm wheel lol. Feels weak after I went karting for my birthday recently)

south yew
#

FInd a backroad, pull your ABS fuses and see what it's like LOL

balmy egret
#

lmaooo

#

I might lol

#

(the cheaper alternative lol)

south yew
#

I always practiced that kind of stuff in the snow in themiddle of nowhere

balmy egret
#

My area is too suburban. I'd have to go a bit further out of my city lol

#

I bet I could find a place though

south yew
#

I've always lived in BFE

balmy egret
#

lmao Bum F* Egypt?

south yew
#

Yup

balmy egret
#

lolll

south yew
#

I'm old, therefor use old werds

balmy egret
#

lol yeah I'm an early Gen Z

south yew
#

Poor kid, X is where it's at

#

😉

balmy egret
#

Nah I like my half of my generation lol

south yew
#

I honestly don't really care, either you're a good person or you're not

balmy egret
#

We don't talk about anybody after 2006

#

lmao

south yew
#

Gen Z ain't bad, there's a still a few willing to listen and learn. Err one forgets they were that age once upon a time and knew everything

balmy egret
#

Yeah that's me

south yew
#

Naw, you ain't arguing with me about what's wrong with your car, you're listening and having a conversation

balmy egret
#

I like to think I'm a rarer Gen Z because I helped my gf with breaker issues and also fixed a couple of plumbing issues (she just moved into this apartment and it's already having issues)

#

Basically stuff that normal younger people don't know how to fix

south yew
#

Because they weren't taught, because both parents working full time to support them and/or parents not owning a home and having to DIY things themselves

#

Urban living is an entirely different lifestyle to BFE

balmy egret
#

That makes sense. My parents are both Gen Z. The house they raised me in was like $99K (bought in the late 1990s, sold for ~$215K in 2016)

#

So that makes sense 💀

#

Also, that's the unit we use: living affordability

south yew
#

Grew up on a 7.5 acre farm

#

If we didn't DIY we just didn't

balmy egret
#

I'd lose it if that were my situation lol

#

I need my home lab. I use Tailscale so I can mess with it when I'm at work or at my gf's apartment

#

Most kids need a Steam Deck or a Switch. Nah as long as I have a computer in front of me, I'll just slap Tailscale on that so I can connect to my home lab lollll

south yew
#

I just need information. Book, phone, PC, whatever. Or my fishing pole and a lake or river

#

But anyway, yard the fuses and see what happens. Also try reverse and forward a bit to see if the rear drums are stuck. If after pulling the fuses it still feels like brakes, there's videos on how to lube the E-brake mechanism on the rear calipers

balmy egret
#

I'm just hoping that the worst case is that I have to drive home without ABS and TC (and I guess power steering)

south yew
#

Yeah, electric power steering is really nice until you run into an ABS issue

#

Company car is a Hyundai with EPS, driving without it was honestly just fine.

#

When I had my issues

balmy egret
#

Yeah I bet it's fine given that it's probably FWD

#

I might be in luck in that case lol

south yew
#

Yup

#

Also know too that you can separate the ABS valve body from the electronics part and just replace the electronics part. Cheaper that way

#

Can do it without removing brake lines but will need a scan tool to reactivate and calibrate the module

balmy egret
#

Also, a torn cable to the ABS unit or something related to it wouldn't be the issue, right? I'm thinking that because the whole car would have those issues immediately upon turning on the car, rather than driving around my gf's parking garage and then it suddenly has those issues after driving it for a bit

south yew
#

It's possible. Where it's located back behind the battery and things might be a good place for rodents to hang out

balmy egret
#

wait hold on

#

ya know

#

that might make sense because there's a lot of squirrels where I live

#

But I mean the car feels fine until it throws those errors after driving it for like five minutes

south yew
#

Bro, I kid you not, I've killed 3 squirrels and 4 chipmunks this year getting under the hood of my cars

#

Yeah, ABS stuff takes some time to show up

#

It's generally not quick.

balmy egret
#

Interesting

south yew
#

Yeah, if you've got squirrels, have a look for some nibbling

balmy egret
#

Crazy too because I took this whole trip, no issues, and then I suddenly make the last turn before getting to my gf's apartment when everything lit up

balmy egret
south yew
#

both my car and my wifes car had the cabin air filter destroyed

#

had to remove the fans in both and remove the offending crap in the fans

#

Looks like you've got some work ahead of you lol. I have a feeling once you remove the battery you'll know.

balmy egret
#

We're going to check the F7 fuse and see if that's the issue. If not, I'm going to pray that keeping that fuse out means that we don't have to entirely unplug the whole ABS module for all of the other lights and show up

south yew
#

You said F7 and F19, whichever fuse is bigger pull that one. It'd be for the pump motor

balmy egret
#

Yeah that would be the F7 fuse

south yew
#

OH dood, that's really cool

#

Yeah, check F19 also because that's for the brains, if it's blown that will tell a lot. Either chewed wire or bad module

balmy egret
#

never heard of "disabling all the nannies" until today. Idk if that would help and idk how to do it on my car lol

south yew
#

ABS, TC, Power Steering, those are "nannies"

balmy egret
#

never heard it described as that lol

south yew
#

Things that keep you from doing exactly what you want when you want

#

It's a boomer thing 😂

balmy egret
#

lolll

south yew
#

From back before we had all that crap and lane departure assist and all the other crap

balmy egret
#

I think I've seen videos of disabling stuff like that. There's like "TCS off" but you're supposed to press and hold it and press another button (or something goofy) and that'll truly turn it off

south yew
#

Yeah, my truck has TC off but no vehicle has ABS off since it's federally mandated

#

along with things like airbags, etc

balmy egret
#

Man so I'm about to drive around illegally at the worst case lmao

south yew
#

No, it's federally mandated for production. Can't manufacture a car that doesn't have it. What you do doesn't matter

balmy egret
#

oh gotcha

south yew
#

Also mandated they can't put a switch in to disable

balmy egret
#

"Sounds illegal. Probably should be. You might die. But it's legal"

#

lmao

south yew
#

Pretty much lol

@south yew fuses looked fine (we replaced them anyways). We're now thinking that it's the battery current sensor that connects to the negative terminal

These care are notorious for corrosion (I think specifically on the negative terminal too) and we're thinking that current sensor cable being eaten by corrosion is the issue

#

But here's the thing: I’m in Austin and live in Houston. I could choose to take the car to this local place that’s like not even a three-minute drive, or I can have my stepfather come up here and tow it

#

And of course he's going to pick the option of taking it to this nearby mechanic, which is the easier route lolll. But I don't want to do any damage to the car given that the brakes are applied

Also, I’m thinking the brakes being applied is due to the "Hill Start Assist not available" issue (this "Hill Start Assist" is basically just a brake that’s applied until the clutch is engaged for when starting on hills, so you don't roll back)

#

A lot of yapping. Sorry lol

Ya, the battery current sensor is just for the alternator, as far as I know. It uses that to determine how much to charge

#

My car just built different I guess

#

My stepfather tried to put it onto a trailer yesterday but it kept beach at the middle of the car (at the edge of the trailer). So we decided to take it to a place down the road. Hopefully I won't be here for too much longer because I’m practically living with my gf and idk how much she likes my living habits 😅 (I hate to use stereotypes, but let's just say that she's Asian but I love my electricity)

south yew
#

what were the codes with the lights on?

#

That's weird, you gotta bad ground somewhere and it was using the current sensor as a ground?

balmy egret
#

The original lights (with ABS issues), U0121(00)

But without the BCS cable, all lights came on but we didn't bother to scan for codes. I’m assuming it would've thrown absolutely every code possible lollll (or maybe just a bunch of U codes)

balmy egret
#

And then there's another cable that comes off of the negative terminal. That's the BCS (battery current sensor) cable and I think (could be wrong) it connects to the fuse box (again, I could be way off about that because we couldn't see but I've vaguely read that that’s where it connects to)

south yew
#

You shouldn't get christmas tree lights just from disconnected the BMS tho

mighty gulch
#

Maybe something wrong with the computer

south yew

I think the neg term cable is up and behind the fuse box and positive is between the battery and the air box

@trim nacelle can we un-stupid for a second? Idk if you actually own a Golf, but if you do, what trim and year is it? (I think you said it's a GTI). What's the reliability/maintenance like? Would I have to constantly get it maintained?

#

Car issues aren't fun and now I'm considering selling my car after this craziness lol

trim nacelle
#

Maintenance is easy if you don't thrash it, tires are like, not terrible to replace if you aren't getting an R/32

#

If you are, expensive

#

Yearly maintenance is fine if you keep it with VW or a trusted mechanic

#

The one thing I'd worry about...

#

Probably, the only real thing

#

Electrics

#

If you have one with cameras and sensors, those things are expensive af to fix out of warranty

#

A perpetual warranty is genuinely worth it in that case imo

balmy egret
#

It'll probably GTI. Unless I buy it from some idiot who doesn't know what he has lol (highly unlikely but you never know)

trim nacelle
#

As for the cheaper end, you wouldn't have as much trouble, but I would say in general

#

And this is for all VW

#

All audi, skoda etc

#

Be careful after 5 years

#

That's when the electrics start to go

#

If you take care of it, it'll be nice to you basically

#

It's good at being just a solid german car

#

But if you thrash it, you'll be paying more for parts and service very quick

#

Esp. on the R trim, those tires are not cheap

balmy egret
#

I get that a lot of people say this is a reliable car, but what about buying beyond 100K miles (160K km)? How far would you say in mileage is okay? Just trying to see how I can stretch my budget

trim nacelle
#

They tend to use continentals or p-zeros

#

And p-zeros are expensive AF

#

That's the kind of tire trim you see on like, supercars

#

Lamborghinis, Ferraris

#

I think some Audi?

#

A lot of german brands opt for continental too

trim nacelle
balmy egret
#

Thought so lol

trim nacelle
#

Shop by service history, state of the car in person

#

Probe for things like work done

#

Or previous accidents

#

Those are red flags

#

The more vanilla it is, the better

balmy egret
#

I feel like they can easily hit 200K miles, from what people say

trim nacelle
#

Yes

#

German cars can really last if you service them properly

#

Let them weather and they will start to fall apart

balmy egret
#

That’s what I'm worried about lol. I want a fun car but I don't want to have to spend on German maintenance (like the average BMW)

#

But I feel that’s normal

trim nacelle
#

Don't shop German if you don't want to look at an elevated service

#

You're not gonna pay ultra premium for a GTI, but you won't pay a basic price either

#

Imo a golf is just a nice ass car

#

VW in general, they have the art pat down pretty well nowadays

balmy egret
#

Gotcha. So it's like the average of a BMW and a Honda basically, right? (In terms of maintenance)

trim nacelle
#

Go back 20 years I wouldn't say they were as great

trim nacelle
#

Depends on the age and mechanic

#

You may as well ask the sellers this question to a few of them

#

You should get a rough range

#

I'd expect somewhere bouncing between the 600 usd mark up to maybe 900 for a big one

#

Not incl. extras like tires or rotors etc

#

Between, what is it your focus?

#

And a Golf

#

I would lean towards the golf

#

I've met a lot of focus owners, sudden repair or cost is quite common

#

If you went looking at an R and you got one with thin profile sport tires, a set of those would be something like, 1200 usd 💀

#

Fair warning, GTI would be better in this if you don't want to be scared of part prices

#

Or go down from even a GTI to something like an R line

#

Not R, R line

#

All the bells of the best but you don't get the engine (Whistles)

balmy egret
trim nacelle
#

Once you go to the really flashy stuff it adds up really fast

#

Like the cameras in these cars are in some cases 5K+

balmy egret
#

I just want a faster car that's fun but also more reliable (I have a friend who knows some people who can get this car to 300 hp, which is pretty much all I want tbh)

trim nacelle
#

300 in a new VW isn't too hard to do

#

Even some of their mid-range stuff goes a bit north of 200

#

Do some ECU work, improve intake and maybe intercooler, slightly bigger turbo and a muffler kit, it probably will do that much

#

I'm not all big on the intermediates between that but it depends on what they build the drivetrain for the mid-range for

#

I'm not really sure if you can find a cheap car that isn't a buzzbomb entailing cheap maintenance costs for 300hp imo

#

Unless we go back to that weird convo yesterday

#

A camry?

💀

balmy egret
#

loll

#

I was looking at cars when y'all were talking about that

trim nacelle
#

You pay for a premium experience, you will pay for a premium upkeep if you ask me

balmy egret
#

Kinda considered it until I saw that it would be like $20K for a V6 Camry

trim nacelle
#

20K is not bad for a car

#

The car of all time

#

It's really plain but it's probably also the most realistic you could be for 300hp

#

Maybe an old civic?

#

Hard to say, I haven't been much of a car nut for a VERY long time now

balmy egret
#

This might be a longshot but I also see a 2010 that's near me for $9,950 that has only 66K miles on it

trim nacelle
#

Camry?

balmy egret
#

GTI

trim nacelle
#

66K on a 2010 is unusual

#

That's a story

balmy egret
#

Yeah kinda thought so lolll

trim nacelle
#

May have lived a sheltered life, or had an accident, or was in a flood or natural disaster

#

You won't know

#

Those sorts of cars are interesting imo, but also you need to factor in an inspection

balmy egret
#

Says 0 accidents reported on CarGurus

trim nacelle
#

I'd still get it inspected

#

Reported doesn't mean it never happened

#

Inspections you get someone who combs a car with a special light

#

iirc it's uv?

#

And they look for imperfections

#

Things you wouldn't see but are signs of panel beating or painting over damage

#

Where the paint may be unusually thick in some spots

#

The other annoying thing is test driving to test all the electrics

#

As important as the normal stuff in the damn car tbh

trim nacelle
#

It takes ages lol

#

But as I said, electrics are the pain point on VW's

gloomy valve
#

I think about the 2.0t accord from time to time

balmy egret
#

electronics are what I'm dealing with on my Focus rn

trim nacelle
#

Something goes and you could be looking at several grand for a $100 part cos it takes 15 hours of labor

#

They don't make it easy to fix the kit on a VW

#

Lol

#

Same for most cars really, cheap as they can manufacture to meet a service life

#

But you have the german premium

balmy egret
#

Or I could get Honda reliability for around the same price if I go with a Honda Accord 2.0T

#

But a bit higher mileage (I think. I'm just now researching these cars)

trim nacelle
#

I would say Honda you'd have a better shot at cheap reliability

#

But you're not gonna quite get that german quality

#

I say nothing wrong with a Honda tho

#

Often regarded as one of the more reliable brands thanks to the infamous vtec

balmy egret
#

I want German fun but timing is trying to tell me no

#

I mean I need a hatchback though. I go mountain biking and I can't store my bike in the back of a sedan

trim nacelle
#

Get a crossover

#

Well, I guess you don't want that cos 300hp fun

#

💀

#

That sort of thing with a raised chassis is good for the occasional lite dirt track

balmy egret
#

I mean I'm not taking the car off roading

#

Here in America, biking trails have parking lots lol

trim nacelle
#

Must be nice

#

Lmao

#

Here the country riots if we lose the Land cruiser or patrol off the market for even 30 seconds

gloomy valve
#

I got cut off by a lifted truck yesterday

trim nacelle
#

You guys' idea of lifted is so weird to me

balmy egret
trim nacelle
#

Like, you have normal roads everywhere that takes any prius

balmy egret
#

All just to take the truck around town and not take it off roading

trim nacelle
#

Yet there's a facilitated need for a lifted dodge ram long cabin

gloomy valve
trim nacelle
#

I feel like less than 10% of ram owners use rams for what they're intended for

#

Lmao

balmy egret
#

Bruh why is the Golf just the best option for me rn
