Wow those are good
I’m guessing you just set the exposure to be longer than normal to get a brighter dark side image?
Weird ass dog
As it turned darker yes
It was way too bright for the longest time to turn up exposure
Example ^
Very nice photos
There from my phone
Apolgizze for not answering, been working since 1am
I don't own a professional camera.
There's a couple tricks you can do
Zero zoom, post processing
And shooting in raw
I've had really good photos from my phones
Most of them weren't long range shots tho
Cuz phone sensors are way too limited for that
Hm, you guys have issues with me using zoom?
Nah we're just offering tips
Oh, I will try it later.
Happy birthday btw, mine monday
yeah one of the things I've learnt is that there's a lot of what goes in a good photo lies in the post processing
I can shoot a photo with my pixel 6
and if I take advantage of what the sensor can do
such as close up shots
and then do some color correction
it can end up looking like it was taken with a professional camera
also thank you
One of the key advantages with not using digital zoom is that you preserve the original image, and then you're able to process the original file through an upscaler and get better results out of it
post processing is very powerful
Yeah my personal preference with phone photography is to only use the native zooms. So for my phone I only have it set to 0.5, 1x, or 5x since those are the lenses on the phone. It’s generally sharper and if you want it closer you can crop later rather than when you are shooting possibly losing screen space or resolution
My final pics I got from the lunar eclipse the other day, not bad with just an iPhone up to my eye piece
Just wish they were clearer and less blurry
I know next to nothing about photography
For an iPhone..that's very good
lunar eclipse is difficult because it can get so dark, very easy to get shake in the photo
didnt help it was 20F out with wind in the middle of my driveway lol
just for it to be like 60 the next day
my feet were kind of numb after a few hours out there
Yup. I had a shoot recently where it was around 20f with high winds for 2-3hrs. Ended up buying gloves after that lol
i want to get into astrophotography proper tbh
just super expensive and complex
thats my problem honestly my 3 hobbies i want to get into: pcs, cars, and astrophotography
all expensive, time consuming, and complex lmao
Not with a real camera. I can do it easily
From my drip back to Florida.. amazing
solar eclispe from plane?
or just sunset lol
either way still cool pic
No. Just a regular sunrise lol
Still incredible. The colors are just as vibrant as you see in the image..I'm a fan of high contrast
Have you seen my total eclipse images? 😏
Cool cool
Yeah the optics are super expensive
Unless you get a little creative
I've seen a lot of photographers limit themselves to certain hardware and then getting really good results from them tho
If you know cameras well, you learn to work around the equipments weaknesses and play into their strengths. That is how you really get professional looking results
This
Ever since I've gotten my D7000
I've learned a couple tricks from it that let me take better photos on my phone too
The skills I got from this $300 camera is more valuable than the camera itself
Knowing how to manipulate exposure, aperture, shutter speed, etc, can make the a massive difference
In some cases photos on a phone may be indistinguishable from one taken on a DSLR
(have to be a pretty specific scenario where the larger sensor don't have as much of an advantage but still)
Phone photos are amazing for what they're meant for, but ofc they're not going to be professional quality
From my experience you can get pretty creative with phone sensors
They're really great if you shoot close ups and in raw
Up to a point ywah
But yeah the sensor size is a massive handicap for anything that's further away
This is a decent phone photo imo
it's clearly a phone photo
Post processing can smooth it out a lot
Yeah the colors are just a lot more washed out
It looked actually pretty close to that irl
Although
Does your phone support raw?
You can probably bring out a lot more detail if you mess around a bit
This one specifically was a 13 pro non-raw photo
My personal phone (OnePlus 9) can shoot raw though
Although it doesn't help too much in most cases
This is jpeg through my phone
we had a sunrise on my flight to van last winter and it was ethereal looking
its trully incredible from up there. why having a windowed seat is a must
I'm gonna go put this on my fridge
lol. sure
It's some good contrast
I feel like I haven't taken pictures in forever
I'm currently in my 'fpv drone' phase
i was in that phase to. I WANT TO GO BACK! what do you have???
lol I have a radiomaster pocket, I was playing velocidrone for a bit, but ordered a mobula 7
i use to do freestyling drone flying in IRL and on PC
no way
my younger brother had that drone lol
I haven't flown irl yet, but I was getting frustated in the sim
I almost did an fpv race today, but backed out last second because I was gonna be last no matter what
This is what I have. The toothpick. I haven't flown it in over a year ):
@cedar dragon
I'm kinda worried it's gonna be one of those hobbies that ends up sitting on my shelf after two weeks
But if I really get into it, at least all I have to do is get a new drone
get into it.
Says the guy with the dusty drone
its soo much fun and soo much more risker lol
😭
I bet your batteries aren't even charged
yeah. ik. ive had a lot of work ans stuff
theyre all in storage charge
in limbo
OOOOOO
I was freezing when I was out there, had to grab my gloves and beanie
im looking forward to hiking this year again with the wildflowers starting
I was trying to stack a few, but they kept going all over the place so I gave up
I need a nice 400mm lens
i also gave up moon photography for that
too lazy for astro
rip
I bought a cheap star tracker, but I put it on jp's drone shelf
lol
I ordered my drone stuff off of newegg Aliexpress, so hopefully it's here by the time I go camping in April
But I'll probably take my star tracker with me
where you camping?
Not sure yet, there's a good spot about an hour away, but the drive kinda sucks
Hopefully I can get back into some photography this year, need to finally learn how to utilize my DSLR better
But you can camp right on a cliff and watch the sunset
very cook
Yeah, it's near a mountain biking trail too
But there's absolutely no service, I'll see if I have any pics
how high is this cliff?
Not super high, maybe 80-100 feet
some photos from my trip to Banff before covid
do you have the RAW files?
outside yellowstone
i should yeah
some editing would make a big difference
yeah i need to learn how to edit and use my DSLR more, most of my shots are just on auto
out in summit county last week
never use auto
yea
full manual is the way
not full manual though
oh
i think mine's on aperture
i do full lol
i don't like full because it's more to worry about
you still get control but easier for quick shots to get right
true
wwooooooooooow
holy crap
incredible
i want to edit these soo bad
composition and exposure on point
lol just phone pics
I need to commit the time to learning how to use the expensive camera I paid for, some of these are with my phone
i like editing photos and just playing music
Spectacular
@meager shore I can tell you have what it takes to be a great photographer
Some are with a Google Pixl, the rest are a Nikon D7200
hhmmm
Great pictures
Makes me want to travel
Maybe when I return to Brazil in a few months, I can share some great ones
Thankfully I am in close proximity to some incredible places, most of these pics are within 2-3 hour drives for me
My area sucks. You're lucky
Yeah, its why I hike so much, I have thousands of photos from my hikes
Plenty of material all around you
Nice
Please shoot RAWs next time
Your pixel can do them
😭
my hike from this past weekend
I appreciate this quite a bit. My mom has always said I should try selling some of my photos but I tell her she's just biased because I am her kid
nah
shes right
just brush up on those editing skills and maybe get a better camera/lens and youre all set
my $700 camera isnt good? 😄
I was actually just about to post my lenses lol one sec
ive been using the same one since I bought it
i forgot that lenses are the most important part
This is what came with the camera, it's what I've been using for any pics taken with the DSLR

AF-S DX NIKKOR 35mm f/1.8G
nice lense
good focal length range
nice
i have yet to get anything below f/4
kek
I have the time to learn to use it better but have been lazy
hard to see but there's a grizzly bear in this pic
you sure its not bigfoot? jk
lol
you never know.......
i actually thought it was just a brown/black bear but some friends told me the rounded ears are a dead giveaway that its a grizzly
and hiking season is basically in full swing now so i will be out in the mountains every weekend for the next 6-7 months
Oh yeah, I'm always looking around, I love being out there
Downside is carrying the DSLR and everything adds like 15 pounds to my pack 😂
I picked up one of these for when I went hiking/traveling
You can find some cheap ones for like $10 I think, you can screw in the camera so it doesn't accidentally fall off
It's like a holster for your camera
Here's how it works
Buy it here: https://www.peakdesign.com/products/capture/
The all-new Capture is the most secure, convenient, accessible way to carry your camera, period. Unlike a camera strap, Capture keeps your camera rigidly stable while hiking, biking, or moving around the studio. Unlike a camera bag, Capture keeps your camera instantly accessible with the...
I think the peak design one was like $70-80 or something, but the knockoff one works just as well
Why would I spend that much money lol
I have the falcam variant of those backpack clips. I think mine was like 50-60usd
I've seen those clips and considered them, but with how bulky my DSLR is, I think it would be cumbersome
and it still adds a hefty amount of weight, either on my shoulders or back.
I have no issues bringing the DSLR, it's just when I am doing a 8-12 mile hike, the weight adds up
I have a nice carrying container that weighs almost nothing, I usually throw the DSLR in there with an extra battery and a microfiber cloth.
I am also usually carrying bear spray, plus my camelback tube hangs over one side, if I am going deep into bear country I also bring other things for protection that I use a chest holster for.
Ive thought about dropping my DSLR and going mirrorless as it would cut down the weight and size
Better for taking videos too
Mirrorless are a nice investment
It's been 7 years since I bought my DSLR. I can't remember why I went with it over mirrorless, but I remember doing a ton of research at the time.
But one reason I bought the AF-S DX NIKKOR 35mm f/1.8G is to reduce weight if I go hiking, as it weighs like 1/3 of the zoom lense. And my understanding is a 'prime' lens is better for landscape/scenery photos like a lot of mine.
But knowing me, I will end up bringing both lens because having a zoom out in the woods is nice for flowers and other cool stuff
To be fair mirrorless cameras have matured a lot in 7 years
They were probably not as appealing back then
Maybe I will do another analysis, my camera is in almost perfect condition, could probably get a decent amount for it. Or since it's already paid, maybe I could invest in a mirrorless specifically for hiking. And keep the DSLR for my road trips where I can just keep my full camera bag on the seat next to me.
For me personally I prefer DSLRs due to the lower cost (for lenses and bodies on the used market)
Since I don't shoot video
Yeah I rarely shoot video and when I do, my phone usually suffices.
It's usually just videos of waterfalls or rivers or streams
Yeah I'm using a D7000
Ancient camera but still takes amazing photos
A mirrorless would be a good investment if you move around a lot tho
Especially if you carry a bunch of lenses with you
I wonder how much a bridge camera would weigh tho
P1000 is 1415g
d7000 is 780g
Nvm these things are heavy
Looks like I am probably looking at $700-1600 if I buy new for mirrorless.
I do love the old style look to the more high-end ones
Fujifilms are nice
and expensive 😄
I just measured my carrying pouch + camera + 2 lens + 1 extra battery and some sun shields for the end of the lense and it's only 4.17 pounds actually
that's not bad at all
I have an xt-4, the film sims are an addiction
The only thing I don't like is that my shutter dial freaks out sometimes
all this talk from yesterday makes me want to drive to a cooler hike for pics tomorrow
Kinda want to head back to this for some new shots
I haven't been hiking in ages, last time I went solo for the first time and it was great not waiting on anyone lol
this is how it looked in april of 2021
but it's risky getting to some of these hikes right now, we are still getting snow and i dont have a 4wd truck
This was from 'The Subway' hike in Southern Utah a couple years ago
and seeing this for that trail is a bit concerncing lol
ohh nice, i love rocks like that, i have something similar let me find it
you need hiking buddy that always goes with you
It was about a 10 mile hike out and 10 back, I didn't eat anything when we got to the end and passed out in my car
not as cool as the Utah rocks, but the trail starts by going through these rocks
I started driving down the moutain and felt like my vison was going tunnel vision, so pulled over and just fell asleep
When I woke up, I drove to the nearest Mcdonald's and had a meal lol
And felt 100x better
idk if i ever posted pics of my hikes in alaska, prob have to look through the archive
that's the hike i did where i was 70 yards from a grizzly and didnt even realize it

same area, wildflowers blooking like crazy
I picked up some hiking trekking poles after my last hike, those things are so sweet. 11/10 recommend.
yeah
trekking poles are goated
ive turned so many people onto them
everyone thinks theyre dumb till they use them
and now that ive been diagnosed with arthritis they are all but mandatory for me
Yeah, I bought the cheap costco pair, but it makes going up and down trails so easy
the costco ones are actually one of the best sets you can get
i have a similar set from amazon that i got before costco started carrying theirs
i think theyre also carbon fiber which i am nervous about using because i do a lot of rugged terrain and they snap easily
I've only taken mine once, so I can't really comment on the durability
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01L2HYPNW?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_2
Ive been using this set since 2021, no issues aside from losing some of the feet attachments cause I am dumb
Comfortably and confidently hike uphill, downhill, or on flat terrain. The Cascade Mountain Tech Lightweight Aircraft-grade 6061 Aluminum Quick Lock Trekking Poles with Cork Grip are easy to adjust to the correct height, ranging from 26” to 54”. Expertly designed to reduce the impact on your knee...
Yeah, I think those are the same ones I have. I went with cork over the rubber grips
this was my mistake in alaska, one of the mountains we hiked was one of the steepest inclines I've seen and I had no poles with a 40lb backpack
dang most of the ones on amazon are like $60-100 😄
Seconding the Capture Clip. I have an older model and it's fantastic
From my hike today. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c2G8-NkSO7c
Was a little cold so the video is a bit shaky 🙂
Nice
Nice
Sick
From my front yard just now
Wow . major
Must be a tesla
What happened?
Was just a prescribed burn 😉
Cool storm near my house
Beautiful
Thanks
After some ai editing to not doxx my address, here is a picture of a supercell from December of last year
Not that kind lol
man the changes to wetransfer have been kind of terrible
What's that?
this is a website many people use to digitally deliver photos. very commonly used in photo industry, especially since it was free for up to 2gb per transfer. But now they put a limit on how many share links you can send per month and in addition to that I am finding out they added a 3gb per month limit
Oh, dang
oh and only the shrunk the expiration date for free tier from 7 days to 3 days. This is effectively useless for free tier now lol
it was awesome they had so much for free for a long time but I guess that time has passed
:(
I really want to get into drone stuff, but every time I research the laws here it feels like it's basically illegal to use it everywhere
There's some great ones that are pretty reasonably priced, but I looked up the laws and it's like everywhere I hike I can't use it, so it completely defeats the purpose
I could get some crazy videos in the places I hike
Like when I took this, I could've flown the drone up closer to it for some cool shots
is that an icefall
yeah
I couldn't get any closer unfortunately, it went up a different valley than the trail
ah
you know what would be really cool is storm photography by drone
maybe not timelapse photography, which is what i personally enjoy, but just general photography
What country?
US probably
under 250g doesn't need a license which is great, but many outdoor spaces (nat/state parks, reserves, etc) ban drones
US like stevie said, most of my hiking areas are national parks, wilderness areas or other restricted areas. It seems like probably 10-15% of the time I hike I'd actually be able to use it, not worth it really
Oh yeah parks and especially wilderness areas are generally considered a no go
Back when I decided to try backpacking for the first time I fell in love with several YT channels who would take GoPros on their trips and document the whole thing. That's the other thing I've considered doing, but I use trekking poles so carrying around a selfie stick with a go-pro would be annoying
you could get some kind of mount for the backpack have have it point in front of you. only taking it off to show something in particular
I use a falcam quick release mount on my backpack but I use it just to free up my hands when I need to grab something or use my phone
Yeah, I'd have to do some research to figure it out. I should probably focus on being in better shape first then worry about that kind of stuff
360 cam on shoulder mount so you can edit later, but storage and battery would be an issue
I also would wonder why I am doing it, it would be a lot of effort to share videos with the 3-4 people who I actually show my hiking stuff to
Unless I wanted to try and actually make a YT channel or something, but all my hikes are close to me so I'd be halfway to doxxing myself which is eh
Yeah, I talked myself out of getting one for that reason, I don't have a large enough audience for all that work lol
I'm gonna look at one of those shoulder mounts later this year, but I still don't see it being a good time with how bulky my DSLR is
It's funny I had someone ask me yesterday if all my photos are really taken with my phone, I've been asked that several times now
I may upgrade to a newer Pixel later this year and just keep using that
the shoulder mounts with larger cameras can get very uncomfortable very quickly but there are some nice hiking bags with quick access to camera compartment.
but yeah id just use what you have for the moment
I think it's also important that if I'm gonna take the DSLR more I need to learn how to actually use it
learn as you go ofc
Yeah, I need to sit down and actually figure how to do anything with it
I want money and a car so that I can go and see views like this
i mean you can walk too
i live in the great state of texas
Lol
That's hundreds/thousands of miles maybe
the only thing cool here is how amazingly flat it is😂
big bend and the rio grande
lol yeah maybe if they werent both like 6 hours away💀
So I decided to properly try out Capture One instead of Lightroom and tbh I think it might be better than lightroom
lmao
Spam inc
I did some research and realized my phone was quite a bit behind in camera strength, so I upgraded phones to a newer one. I'd say the difference is quite noticeable.
nice shots
Incredible
Thanks, it was a great day
Yo those are some very nice shots
The new phone definitely takes much better photos. Very light editing needed
https://youtube.com/shorts/PUd4hL3rPeI?feature=share
Couple short videos from yesterday as well
Scaly boi
yes. saw him on my college grounds
Florida maybe? idk
or like south America if outside US
@slate frost@green condor yes, florida. and its the RF Canon 100-400 telephoto lens
MY FAVORITE LENS
Oh nice
I’m about to finally order the 180-600mm for my nikon, just have to wait for b&h to open again lol
Good shot too very sharp I would like to see the focus just a tiny bit closer to the eye though
youre right. just a little bit. I was in a hurry. but i think it looks great. you should share images
riccchhh
I should share more but I want to be careful about doxing myself cuz I do a lot of photos of people
180-600 is a nice lens
the aperture on it isn't quite what I would prefer but the range is nice and internal zoom is a huge plus. pretty affordable as well
I should look for a high focal range lens... And a solid tripod
I really wanna do some bird shooting
oh wow, I didn't know that nikon made a 180-400 f/4 in the past. that price though ouch
Holy crap, almost 9000 dollars!!!
This is why I bought one lense so far
For only “600” dollars
A good wide angle lens is my next buy
But nothing more than 1000 dollars
I have a 24-70 and it's all I need for now, although a 70-200 sounds enticing
definitely more versatile than a supertelephoto, especially if you are going for the f/2.8 ones. 24-70mm and 70-200mm are by far my most used lenses
F/2 since I use a speed booster 🔥 🔥 🔥
But also variable aperture
Yeah I think mine is F3.5-6.3
The focal length is probably more like 28-420mm adjusting for crop factor (I got an APS-C sensor)
It's nice it gives me a lot of space to work with
Good for daylight shooting, but the majority of my shots are in low-light situations, so f/2.8 or lower is a must for me
Did random attempt at macro with iPhone ain’t bad tbh but lot to learn
not bad
Also Ik no one here is going to believe me, but I think I managed to get a photo of a UFO in Brazil.
Yeah it's blurry, but I used my phone ...
It was floating perfectly still for a long time. The altitude wasn't all that high either....less than 2000 feet. There was a light breeze.
I have a 4k video. But I don't have nitro 😔
https://8mb.video/ or Handbrake if you wanna try to compress it for discord
Oh thanks
@cedar dragon
It just floated there
Doesn't look like a drone.
Didn't move in the wind either
When you see something interesting but you don't have your main camera on you.
Could've made millions with some good footage...
Not really. But with my 100-400mm at 4k 60 it would have been great.
You always carry camera with you
That is rule #1
Oh also, I was in a rush and this was handheld but I got this in the morning
I wish my camera didn't cost so much so I could do things like this, but as it is now, I cannot risk damaging my camera whatsoever
That reminds me I always found it so funny how differently people treat cameras. Some are so careful but so many professionals will just have them swinging around xD
Oh boy, took a trip to b&h while i was in nyc 💀
because for some people the camera is many months of working, while professionals get basically a new camera for every wedding they do
Lol well not always
Gonna have to test drive this now
I would say it’s a balance between taking care of your gear but knowing what it can withstand. Higher end gear can withstand pretty harsh environments but there are still some things you have to watch out for
Oh crap
How heavy?
600mm...crazy
You have a full cropped sensor?
Is it water resistant?
Its a full frame sensor, it’s definitely on the heavier size to handhold. I don’t think it is fully water resistant but I still need to check if my rain cover can hold it completely
This is why I'm tempted to get a bridge camera
For wildlife photography
Lenses are bulky
p1000 🔥
Found this lil fuzzy fellow
I really like that first one
Nice
I couldn't complete this hike the last time I tried, but now I can say I've done it
Was this from your camera or a gopro?
Google Pixel 9 Pro
Smh. Florida is boring for photography for the most part
I actually just got a few bird shots while I was at a job, will send later
It’s flower season out here
Nice. We have some indigenous wild flower over here but they're not in season
Florida needs some mountains, then we can have subjects other than just plants and beaches
this
Looks like I’m gonna need some plane tickets to arizona to get those
im actually going to arizona this summer, looking for some photo spots
Good luck soldier, don't get heatstroke 🫡
About three hours north of phoenix
I wanna go there so bad
It needs a McDonald's like right in the center of it
https://maps.app.goo.gl/225aNe5rKJcyBM387
Horseshoe bend is further up
And a massive freeway (with like 8 lanes on each side), each side has one exit that leads to that McDonald's drive-thru
Woah
dude that's like my favorite thing in arizona
I almost went last time, but wouldn’t have enough time to actually spend a day there, so it wasn’t gonna be worth it for me
Also Grand Canyon too, idk how I forgot about that
I believe we are going there as well
Gonna be going to Arizona the coming weekend and staying there for a week or so, gonna take some 🔥 photos
Yo where in Arizona? Make sure to get some car photos lol
I'll see if I can get some car photos, but I can't promise
Y'all know any good car meetups/events happening in Arizona in the next 2 weeks?
I wouldn't know but it's Arizona, I’m sure they’re everywhere
Nice
some nice content yet again
apparently my nikon z6ii has a shutter count of about 120,000 lol. ive been getting some weird hotspots on it lately might have to look into it
Thanks, depending on the wildfire's this year I hope to have some nice shots every weekend to share
I think my truck will finally be up and running this week too so I should have a little more confidence going down some lesser maintained forest roads
Crazy
Incredible
Gotta love spring flowers
Pretty
Oh interesting
B R I D G E
And here I am still struggling to find anything good to take a picture of
I didn't include half the pics I took either
I started with 33, got it down to 10
a lot of shots i think will turn out dont
but ive done hikes where i've taken 200 pics before, just depends on where im going. if i am able to complete my 'bucket list' hike for this year, i will probably take several hundred
I was supposed to be hiking up to the top of this saddle today, but a deep river crossing forced me to have to hit a different trail
I thought I about taking my shoes off as I have microfiber towels in my pack, but I wasn't gonna risk a roll ankle or something on slippery rocks
For a second I thought those were eggs
I flew right off of that bridge before (in Forza of course)
You can probably post process them into being decent
I've had a lot of bad images shot on cloudy days fixed
Especially if you shoot in raw
Cloudy/overcast can actually be some of the best lighting
Generally with raw images you have a lot to play around with
True
Better than overexposure
Went to Canyonlands UT, didn't take my dlsr but got some good phone shots
That's pretty sweet
My phone lets me shoot in raw so I've been able to get some pretty good images out of them
Mine has the option but I haven't really tried it
I do find that the Apple processing tends to be pretty good for landscapes
Yeah on my dslr I always shoot raw and edit
13 Pro
The sensor is pretty nice on those
Yeah and being able to do normal + ultrawide + telephoto + macro all in one is real nice
I'm not a fan of telephoto on phones
I've found that setting the 3x telephoto to 2x is about 50mm which is nice to have
But they're pretty good for how small the sensors are
Then again
With smaller sensors you don't need as big of a lens
Kinda reminds me of the funny p1000
1000mm focal length or something like that
Oh wait it's 3000mm
Yeah the telephoto on the 13 pro isn't crazy good but I really like it for enabling 50mm. Close to the human eye so good for portraits or trying to convey scale of things
Aight plane is taking off so imma head out
Cya
I do shoot in raw and edit them, some shots just aren't good, the angles are off or it looked better in my mind than reality
These flowers also close and open every day
I really like the last pic
idk whats happening with the wwater
thats so cool
chromatic aberration maybe?
From my last campout
Oh stop your complaining and go explore somewhere
The sky can do things with color the likes of which i can't even describe, it's awesome
Yeah one of my favorites was when I was in the mountains in europe, it was somewhat close to sunset and all you saw what this huge bright yellowish orange light from the sea in between the trees and landscape
I want to go to Scotland one day
I would get a thousand dollar lens just for this bird
Lol what is that
not quite
Capercallie
They like to just run up to people and then slap the crap out of them

I haven’t seen many self hosted apps that do something similar enough. I may have found cheaper alternatives though so ima keep looking
Bro what who's paying 100 a month for 10gb cloud
Scam
the software better be magical for that kind of price
What the
yup, just finished with school so im trying to sort through the ~50,000 photos I have from the past year or 2, reorganize my portfolios and website and such
Some cool storm photos after today's rain
Beartooth highway
I'm very lucky to be able to just get in the car and spend a day experiencing this kind of stuff and still make it home before it gets dark
anybody have experience with nikkor telephotos? specifically 400 f4.5 or 180-600
I own a 180-600mm and had a 100-400mm on loan in the past
*bokeh
Eh
Did you have any specific questions about either?
Got it
not exactly photography but I encourge those interested to check out this channel, he knows his stuff

his camera work is actually amazing
Phone photo
Yeah it’s really nice to be close to places like that
Woagh
That was in sedona
Was there a few weeks ago, very crowded and expensive food
It was pretty quiet while I was there, probably cuz of the heat but yes it is expensive
@untold spindle since I know you complained about there being nothing to take photos of you should check out some sites like PIXEO
I'm going to Brazil tomorrow. So I will take pictures....but with my phone
Not getting robbed with my setup
😞
And even with my phone I have to be careful
That’s ok you can still get decent stuff
Oh sick
I would’ve liked that second wide shot to be just a little closer to the ledge
This is another I got on the weekend. Not the greatest and another phone photo but pretty fun
Ooo

And so it begins
that's a spooky horizon
I love it
I wish
Or better yet
Raid a nearby us airbase and steal an sr-71 and an environment suit
80k is the operational ceiling
Wish I had a zoom lens
Best I could do with 230mm
This tree always has hawks though
nice colors though, I do like the 600mm I got recently for some of this
But you can also try to wait til they get closer somewhere. These I got on a 200mm on my trip
I think I used astia sim on my Fuji camera, makes colors a bit more vivid
It’s in my neighborhood, so I could just walk closer to the tree, but I’m too lazy lol
oh i'm just not sure which to look at getting. seems like if i'm lucky i could grab a 180-600 for $1600 or a 400 for a little over 2k
but then i realized the specs on a body i wanted would be z8 levels and i don't want to spend that much
Lol ye its pretty expensive. Im using a z6ii rn but it can be annoying to fight some of its quirks. Prob gonna get a z8 later this year
you shoot any animals/birds? heard the bodies below z8/9 are pretty eh with animals
A little bit if I see opportunities like the one above, but I primarily shoot sports. It can be done the autofocus can just be finicky at times. Though probably the most annoying thing about the camera is the blackout and responsiveness since I often am working with 2 cameras
The second body is a d500 which doesn’t help me much either since they are 2 very different bodies lol. In a perfect world I would run 2 z8’s so it’s easier to quickly switch between bodies
Yeah.. I wasn’t even thinking about doing 2 before but I had a lot of colleagues say “trust me it’s worth running 2 identical bodies” xD
i've heard it's nice for weddings
but i also just do it for fun so i don't think i'd ever get 2
yeah it doesn't really make sense unless it's for work
Smh jp, you can’t be getting the window reflects in the pic
I couldn't do anything 😭
Also this wasn't serious
For that when possible I try to get camera as close to window as possible and then maybe cover the part of the phone above the camera to attempt to block that light from getting in.
But yeah I know it wasn’t serious xD
Why didn't I do this lmao
I've done this before...
But yeah, Idc
I just wanted to capture the moment
¯_(ツ)_/¯
Looks like the city has some kind of megastructure ngl
Lol. Right. A giant building off in the distance
Like it's enclosed almost
Hmmm
Yeah
Looks like my picture wasn't as bad an idea after all lol @green condor
Looks like a miniature city
Ooooo
It was just raining so it was chilling for a bit, same hawks from yesterday
Oh great. Take some more….up the exposure next time if your aperture is at its widest
Shutter speed is perfect
And if your camera can do burst shots, dew it
You can pick the best from the bunch

I love avian photography
🌻
I edit raws from my phone sometimes lol
But wait, there's more
wow that last one I love
the way the grass and trees curve around the landscape ahead... beautiful
Nice
This man needs some kind of award
a few more, it was my first time doing this hike, but it's one of the best i've ever done
This flat spot is where the lakes are, I hiked up to the opening then about two miles into the valley that's behind it
this is what you see from the flat area looking back down
Herobrine sighted?????
can't believe it
My dreams have come true
???
nothing lol
Damn fire season is kicking off already, we will see how hiking goes now
favorite types of hikes i love all the greenery
some pics from elbert last year one of my favorite hikes
Rate every trail
...in the US
In the WORLD
I dunno if I wanna deal with all that. I don't think that many people would care, I usually do reviews and post photos on the all trails app
Oh you like hiking? Name every trail in the world
I'd be looking for fossils in those rocks the whole time lol
YES
There were huge holes you could see in the rocks that went down 20-30 feet of just darkness, was a bit sketchy feeling
I went with a friend of mine who is 70 and he said it was the steepest hike he's ever done and he has hiked for 30+ years. It was rough, 2k elevation gain in two miles, and nearly 60% of that was just shale, dirt or loose gravel
@green condor taking the rule of thirds too far
Haha
You can move it a little closer to the center, like closer to golden ratio since there is some dead space to the right
was going to but after taking pictures i decided to fill the dead space with another mousepad from that company
Oh yeah that works too
I will say from a first look the mouse looks just a bit too close to the top of the frame
its a bit close to the top but it looks worse there because of how magiclatern is laid out for the eos m
Ah i see
Oh!
eos m with magic lantern I see? nice
from however long ago when they were doing a hogwarts back to school thing
What lens did you use for the mountains?
Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-140mm f/3.5-5.6G
I bought a AF-S DX NIKKOR 35mm f/1.8G awhile back, but it hasn't been as useful as I'd hoped. If I am not at the perfect distance, it's kinda mid to use. But I am still utilizing my DSLR to about 10% of its capacity.
I also still haven't found a good way to hike with the DSLR that isn't annoying. Having it on a shoulder clip is a joke, it will just constantly hit me in the head or face, it's not a small camera. Chest holder is hard because I carry a bear gun via chest holster. I'd take way more photos with it if it wasn't so cumbersome to use.
35mm is a really good focal length for environmental portraits
Maybe a shoulder strap? Thats how ive been hiking with mine and ive had 0 issues
Im using this and its been great
I use those, a backpack clip, or sometimes I’ll just leave it in a side access pocket
The quick connects also make switching from a shoulder to a neck strap really easy
Oh yeah I switched to those straps pretty quickly. When you are using tripods, gimbals or the like trying to take on and off the stock straps gets so annoying
Peak design mentioned 😍
Literally is a peak design
imma be honest I totally missed that pun for an embarrassing amount of time
like I knew the brand and bought multiple things from them before it hit me
Cameraception
Actually that's a dove
Nice camera
nice strap
Soon
I've thought about those shoulder strap possibilities, but I still feel like having the big ass camera on my side while hiking 10 or 12 miles is going to be cumbersome and annoying at a certain point
So the backpack shoulder strap clips can be extremely uncomfortable on backpacks with thinner straps and would only recommend putting there if you need to free up your hands for just a moment. The wider peak design straps you can sling and they are reasonably comfortable but it is still a single strap that would probably still dig into your shoulder after a few hours.
Imo the most ideal would be if you had a backpack with a side access panel to put the camera and then maybe a backpack clip for temporary storing
sad
Ooof
In the moment, not a cell phone in sight
What's funny is there's no cell phone service at the hotel or any of the hikes. It's only Wi-Fi at the hotel. I'll be going back in September, it was surreal and didn't feel real
Montana
The highest peak here is my destination for today. More to come later
Colorado trip photo dump soon :)
Woah are those moths?
Butterflies or months, not really sure
Oh and if anyone here does some phone photography has anyone tried project indigo yet?
what is this flower
Columbine
woah that is sooo pretty
Colorado state flower iirc
look up hoya carnosa , its a plant but has a beautiful flower and its my favorite
Wow .those are beautiful
right ?!
There are some apps that let you take pictures of plants/flowers and can give you the name
They're mainly for taking care of plants, and usually a paid subscription
Was that from the plane?
Do you speak Portuguese?
That's awesome
Sim, eu falo Português
Brazil would be awesome to visit, but I've seen a lot of police videos 👀
Just do it
It's not as bad as people say
True, I mean, I've been to Ecuador and it wasn't bad at all
You just have to use common sense
Exactly
Don't use your phone in the open
Watch for people on motorcycles
Don't dress in a fancy showy way with expensive accessories or you're begging to be robbed.
And don't be a loud foreigner.
And watch where you go
Some places aren't safe
Sounds not far off from nyc
I always found those type of buildings to be wacky
Minecraft mob grinder
Which one? Lol
Yeah lol
Lol..I like it
When u realize he got a rainbow in the last one
oh wait ye xD
Giving my sunset pics a run for their money lol
Lmao.. you're right
Yeah, but I think it's closed for now
this looks kinda sick, though could use some editing. maybe a dehaze or something
I can't wait to photo edit @ocean depot
Don't worry. I shot all my photos in RAW
I can't wait to edit this one
These dogs are living on a boat
Rio is a photographer's goldmine
Yeah. Just needs some fixing
nice
I edited the colors and cropped it a little bit in apple photos since the picture seemed nice. Was that photo a raw picture, just curious?
Editing JPEGs aren't the best idea .....but it does look better 👌
I agree, I took a photography class for an art credit and the difference between jpg and raw were night and day
Way more color information to play around with
What program did you use?
Apple photos on iOS
Hmm
My adobe subscriptions ended so I just use that now
When I feel like editing, it’s decent
Damn ....mine ended to
Lightroom def had some neat features
I miss it a lil bit but i don’t really need it anymore, got it for free with my class
O
Sick
Old photo I took, def was one of my better ones
Holy.....
You have Lightroom rn yeah?@terse bison
The raw photo on that was pretty insane too, It had like perfect lighting
No, but that photo was with Lightroom
Should I get a dslr or stick to my phone
If I get back into photography and buy a camera I’ll prob get it again, but I’ll wait until I’m done with college for that
Or better yet a drone🔥
I use capture one rn but it’s pretty expensive. I like it better as a raw processor and I like that they offer perpetual license. That way if I don’t do photography anymore at least I can still use my catalogs from the years
@green condor you got an adobe suite?
I borrow one from my mom. Really only use it for premiere and after effects now
Luminar also has a perpetual liscence for their editing software, Neo
I didn't get any photos of my trip
Phones weren't allowed
😭
I was on the buffalo river tho
Have you tried the Kuru Toga pencil?
