Bejng able to see a glow like that would be crazy lol
Maybe thats static electricity
4gb isn't bad for ai
yeah but considering this is more of a plugin rather than a full app
AI is annoyingly big
4gb for a plugin instead of a compressed model is dumb
Dawg it gave me a 100mb file the other day
From 15 to 100
Epic
The good thing being you might never have to upgrade to anything better
Lens with "world’s first variable-shaped aperture" announced… boring bokeh begone! https://www.digitalcameraworld.com/news/lens-with-worlds-first-variable-shaped-aperture-announced-boring-bokeh-begone
Would you look at that
I have some concerns lol
I thought that said incest for a second 💀😭
degen
@green condor what prestige level do i have to be in order to unlock this?
also wild that shes just holding that instead of using a tripod or something to help with the weight
Why would you not use the clamp as a hand-rest lmao
Isn't there also a mount from some brand that adds like a rifle style stock to the camera for stabilization
You must sell your soul
But some of those lenses actually arent that heavy anymore
Imagine this with this attachment
Camera sniper class
tactical attachments
Flawless
yeah i wish
ah ffs
i shot at iso 800 and brought the exposure down 2 stops (???) i have zero idea why i did that
i also have zero memory of doing that, think i messed it up when i was trying to pan. not sure why i adjusted with exposure but whatever
shot got accepted so i dont care
@forest rover well I'm on my phone, it's flawless
On my desktop I'll have to pixel peep
well yeah its a fine photo, just keep in mind its 1280x720
i would rather upload 8k, but jetphotos only takes whatever the hell that is
720p
smh
Nice nice
nice
it doesnt look like 720. it looks really good but there is a free program called upscayl and you can upscale it to a higher res
Does look like 720 when you zoom in lol
I think it's purposeful though cause the site only allows that size for uploads
I’m not doing that.
It’s 720 for a reason lol
one of my favorite images ive taken..that ridge is really fascinating.
why is half the mento blurred?
what
are you talking about the dark side?
that not blurred
its a close up picture of this no?
i dont follow 💀
sigh
are you talking about the mento designs on the box?
its shaded...is see that. btw this is from my telescope Eyepiece
nevermind jp, my joke is over 😔
sorry
yeah blud's sense of humor is COOKED
it does look like a mento...
its ok wolf im here for you
here's a picture I took last year
here's a barely edited photo
still trying to find a lightroom alternative on linux
white balance is not my strong suit
darktable
its the best
There is capture one but it is more expensive than lightroom and most likely does not support linux lol
I tried the free trial of capture one and hated it
I had the trial but didn’t end up using it much during that trial
@untold spindle 🙏 my phtoo got accepted
this 1
darkroom or darktable
2 different things
darktable is good
Congrats
Is that a 737 max?
yup
u can see it with the chevrons on the engines and the wingletts
Yeah that was the giveaway for me
I miss passenger 747s
I see a lot of cargo ones but never any airliners
a modern and huge circular-shaped Studio and clean design of a television studio for a talk-show program, with a huge screen high on the wall, the floor and walls are dark metal, minimal design, geometric, symetric, Dark lights, 4k
We don't have an AI image generation bot little bro
A discord bot who thinks that putting in prompts into random servers will generate useable images instead of paying or just directly using the ai
Just self host an automatic1111 instance
photography channel with real photos that people took
puts in ai prompt
I don't know if this is a blessing or an insult
Someone was judging my grainy photo from my phone camera but it's not like I was gonna grab my Nikon just for a pic of a tv
Mushroooooom 😄
actually one of my favorite communities Ive followed on bluesky is the fungus among us community
I love taking mushroom photos and just finding different mushrooms. Kinda silly but it makes a walk so much more worth it
To be truthful I did edit the drink photos a bit. I made a Christmas drink menu last year and tried bar tending for my family lol
Kept me busy and less bored out of my mind.
I see a couple every once in a while along the bay. Some of them are like 4 inch diameter wide caps. pretty amazing, seen one that was 8 inches, it was huge
Oh yeah. When my family goes out camping we find some that are pretty big. But around my house it's mostly just the small ones.
Unfortunately I cannot go find any rn because of all the snow 😦
aww, snows gonna make them small and hard to find
cept the ones that grow out of trees
must smell magnificent with those pine trees
I hate the cold that comes with winter, but it is always pretty
I honestly don't think I've smelled them lol. Next time Imma go outside n sniff the air to see how close I gotta be lol
Agreed
you might be used to the smell so you dont notice. I live in californias east bay area. So getting coastal pines/mountain pine air is a treat every once in a while
Oh. yeah I'm in Canada and in a small town at that so I am surrounded. There is quite a variety of trees here
I can see that. Lucky lucky
You know all the good pictures you see online HAVE been edited right?
true. most of mine i try to keep unedited or if i do edit, try to make it look like how i seen it with my own eyes. because im not very skilled with a camera.. id say im mostly just good at framing things
edited vs unedited
when it comes to playing with the manual settings like apurature and shutter speed
i cannot wrap my head around it even having multiple photography classes in collage and highschool
this one u can tell the editing difference a lot more
and if u look closely enough there are mistakes but i left them because the photos would be small and it wouldnt be noticable
this one is probably my favourite i took
Ooooh ...I see
It's not really all that hard
Wow...I love it
yeah im just dumb
thanks
dude it's not that deep
step one: mess around with it
step two: try to edit the photos
step three: realize that all of them are slighly out of focus, too bright, too dark, or blurry
step four: try again
Photo stylists are a thing as well
Omg there is no way. I went out to a job with 5 batteries and at least 3 of them are dead
Been there done that
That’s a classic, along with doing a whole shoot at iso 5000
🔥
Iso 5000 im ok with. Its when i forget that i had auto iso on and it goes to 51200 that i have a problem
lol yeah
I can't even do past iso 1600 without it looking grainy as hell lol
For work my theoretical max is 12800. beyond that and you are essentially working with no light
I think the problem for me is that when I take the photo it looks fine but viewing it after it always turns out bad. Also I don't have nearly as much of an interest in it anymore so auto mode does what I need it to.
That and I don't know patience loll
for the point of it looking fine but not later, in a studio setting i prefer to do a tethered capture with programs like lightroom and capture one so the photos go straight computer for viewing and editing
Auto mode has never given me even decent results on any camera so I try not to rely on it
auto mode is very meh, if you want to take a photo then it will get the job done, anything else and it's not adequate
lets say you want to blur the background, how will auto mode know that? It won't. it's like on your phone
some of the new sony's have interesting auto settings
try to detect object and determine what settings to prioritize
I'm sorry for just explaining how I'm not great at photography 😦 didn't expect to get even more shame from just being honest but thanks
I wasn't shaming, sorry if I came off that way
In my personal experience it didn't work well, if you're happy with it then good for you
I was saying I'm not great cause I cannot use those modes because I don't put in the time and effort anymore as I have lost interest... I much prefer cooking and other things now... I could make a better meal than I could make photo.. but I still think the photos I have shared above are decent enough for me to be proud of..
Even if you don't put in the time to get good at using manual mode, it's still good practice to know the basics of how to use it
Random photography ventures? Idk
I enjoy them without all that.
For me it's be something like the northern lights or astrophotography which you can't really get good photos of on auto (in my experience)
I don't even have a lens for that. I typically do macro shots. But it don't matter anymore cause I suck and I'm not gonna put in the effort. Sorry for being annoying.
Any lens works if you know how to use it well
U seemed to have missed this
Northern lights and that stuff especially would work for auto. But for random portraits or landscapes it can do a decent job
In my experience any lack of light auto mode sucks at
In ur experience u have said it sucks at any photos
Bc almost all of my photos are low light lol
No need for negative attitude, just simply enjoy taking photos for either yourself or others. It’s not a requirement to go further than that.
I have attempted teaching beginners how to use camera and it’s not always easy
It's not easy if it doesn't interest the person to go that into detail either
Also btw I have never had chance to do astro since I live near nyc lol. Not catching anything with that light pollution
I'd rather spend more time cooking yummy food or actually taking in the view with my own eyes
Anyways sorry if I'm causing trouble. I misunderstand things a lot. Have a good night or day or whatever it is lol
It takes like an hour to learn the basics but ok
I take that back ur a very rude person
Tbh i get tired of camera once in a while. When on vacation my parents always say “oh look why don’t you take a picture” like bruh ive been holding a camera for 30-50hrs last week
Me? Rude? Never.
Sorry ur to self absorbed to notice
I try very hard to be as mean as possible, I'm glad somebody noticed :)

Yeah I could understand that, personally photography is just a hobby, but I still get asked at every event to take photos whether or not I have my camera
Especially for trips i like to look back at the photos but some things I prefer to not only see through a viewfinder
I usually just dedicate a small amount of time to photos, then I'll spend the rest of the time enjoying myself
recently I've just been focused on framing in the shot and editing the photo afterwards, everything else I've gotten good enough
still not sure how to edit photos like these, but I think it's good enough
Ooooo
What I really like about this is how there are complementary colors involved here.
It just works
The focal points are very obvious
Beautiful contrast.
It feels empty to me honestly, I don't like it that much
Not entirely
If you crop in it'd be really good
7/10
If you couldn't rate it 7 what would it be
7.5
Dang
Using lightroom for tethered capture makes me want to die
Is captureone any better
supposedly but it is quite expensive
Gonna re-edit this sometime soon now that I have lightroom, someone ping me whenever you see this so that I actually follow through
Just saw this
Oooooo
You used a phone?
Purple and vivid blue sky with pink and red clouds
Yes.
Also as dusk came the sky turned green with vivid neon green clouds.
Green???
Yeah it's beautiful.
Almost looked like the northern lights but it wasn't (I don't think).
I'd try post processing it a bit
I think some gcam ports let you shoot in raw?
You can do a lot with a smartphone these days
Yeah my pixel 6 shoots in raw
My gcam on my OnePlus 9 lets me shoot in raw, quite nice to have when I don't have my camera on me
New lens who dis
yeah
smartphone cameras are pretty decent these days
They're not bad
tho I'd rather see bigger sensors than... more of them
Yeah, instead of higher megapixels
200mp doesn't mean much when the sensor is tiny
yeah higher megapixels are diminishing returns on smartphones
My Nikon D7000 with a 16mp sensors outshines every single smartphone
50mp is what the max should be
What phones excel at is getting a decent photo with no effort in an instant
Point and shoot is still something I want to experiment with, especially the newer ones
Imagine all the camera processing, except now is a much larger sensor, and a lens that can zoom in 10x optically
Plus it can shoot in manual as a normal professional camera that takes raw photos
that would take a crazy amount of engineering
unfortunately
lenses are very fragile too
Idk about you but I haven't broken my phone or camera lenses yet and I don't plan to
oh I thought you mean camera lenses that can physically move
It's a very good idea don't get me wrong
I baby all of my gear over $50, so not a problem for me
I just don't see any big manufacturers being excited for the idea
sadly it's too niche of a market
Sony seems to have done it sorta
which is still nicely served by the higher end point and shoot market
which also brings cost into the equation
Without all of the fancy processing still, but everything else is quite decent
It'd probably be cheaper to have a smartphone + a point and shoot
1k is pretty decent considering the camera market honestly
Cheaper point and shoots are pretty crap, even compared to phones
I mean the higher end ones
Yeah true
they do have a very key advantage tho
the sheer amount of zoom you can get out of some of the higher end models is pretty impressive
a smaller sensor does help in that regard
Temron?
Sorry if I'm not making much sense rn, I am extremely tired and I can't really think straight
Sony's newest model is what I'm looking at rn, I don't think I'll ever get it but it seems like a good idea
and the higher end ones are encroaching on micro 4/3 camera prices
Main problem with those is that the auto mode sucks, and you still have to get a lens
Plus the lens equivalent will be 10x larger
The Sony rx100 mk7 has a 28-200mm zoom lens in a much smaller form factor
this is 24-3000mm
it's a good alternative to buying a large lens for bigger sensor platforms
Yep indeed
it's like only $1K for this whole thing?
Anyways I'll go sleep for now, I can barely think right now
gn
I see this and all I can think of is how good a video of a UFO would be lol
Holy cow.
nah that is nikon first party
I do have one tamron lens though
i got it refurbished for 1200 orig price is 2k
Yeah, I used to borrow an old coworkers 24-70mm f4 which is like half the price but i wanted something a little faster
Better than you think
It's got a smaller sensor so it won't be able to capture all the detail
But it is a cost effective way to get a decent quality picture at high zoom
Another day of me being unable to take any good pictures

How are you enjoying your new lens?
jp, come to my house and be a hand model. i cant take pictures of my only good hand cause i cant reach the damn camera and i dont even know if im able to setup a timer
everything i shot was bluurry or out of frame
me trying to take a picture of my hand
Man what is this attempt
Lollll
Ask a real life friend or family member lol
Pretty nice, though I don’t have any jobs until after new years so we have to see
found a way to do it. cant find a timer but there was a motion detect thatll take a picture if motion is captured within a zone so i just swung around a small box with my broken hand
my hand has been in a cast for the past 3 months jp
where have you been?
my right hand at that and im right handed, havent been able to play video games much
its really my thumb thats broken but my hand is in a cast
here all along. youll heal up in no time
BTW. does anyone know any good ND filters for 4k video?
needs to be sharp
looks like a 737-600
Looks like an airplane to me (idk airplane models)
Could be a car
ok
it's an a310
made the mistake of the century
and confused an airbus with a boeing
Oh goodie. Looking forward to it
in a out of focus area of one of my photos. how the heck could there be doubling like this?
If it were me, I'd try changing the hue of the yellows in that first image to a lot warmer color
But I just woke up and I’m not a photographer. So listen to me only when/if you'd like lol
buh
Interesting subpixel layout on the display of a 2010ish digicam I pulled out of storage
That is the wackiest RGB stripe layout I've seen yet
I was looking at photos and was like huh the pixels look a little odd
Then took pics with my phone and one subpixel is like offset lol
Wait no
It's every other one is up/down
If anyone has info about this ping me and I'll read about it
Model is Canon PowerShot elph 100 hs
Canons spec page says
3.0-inch TFT color LCD (wide viewing angle type)
buh
Sharp

Rescuing pics off of an old external hdd
Not going well
Chat it might've kicked the bucket
Oh it's back
Getting more smart errors tho
Uncorrectable errors up to 178
271 💪
Did you ever get it fixed?
Pretty sure she's past fixable. It's an 8 year old hdd that first lived in a laptop then moved to an external enclosure in my camera bag
But I did manage to move all the files off
It wasn't like super critical or I would have moved it earlier
Mostly .raw pics that I've already gone through and edited the good ones + saved the edits elsewhere
Have you tried ddrescue?
I'm doing something similar with my nvme at the moment
At this point I don't really care
It's a bottom of the barrel 1tb hdd
I already have 4tb of ssds, a 4tb external hdd, and a 16tb hdd
Seagate?
Maybe? Not sure. Idk if it's actually bottom of the barrel but it's 8 years old so I can't imagine much worse
Yeah it's a Seagate
Yeah that explains a lot
Although to be fair laptops hdds do suffer a lot more shock and vibration than desktop drives
Interestingly the hard drive in my old laptop was good for years but my desktop hard drives went bad after a year
Seagate?
wd black lasted 1.5 years and both seagate drives lasted around 6 months
wtf?
I've had a barracuda last longer than that
Maybe the WD Black were SMR drives?
I need a drive to transfer my crap off of
Yeah idk maybe I got unlucky three times in a row
WD black are gaming grade drives
Seagate are just bad in general
Maybe you'd have better luck with nas drives
What happened here 🤔
I was going to transfer my server, but I can’t move the files anywhere while im doing the transfer
I'm probably going to go through all the raw files I have and delete all the crappy ones to save space
My camera/camcorder collection. All analog with the exception of a digital/analog combo.
35mm, instax mini, Polaroid, hi-8, vhs-c, and mini dv. Not pictured is my full size vhs Panasonic OmniMovie camcorder
Cassettes!
awwww
It's the special edition VHS star wars
Thought it was OG
oooooooooooooo
Nikon SLRs
Cool stuff
very nice, droq. the past is gold
The old FG was my dad’s camera, has had it my entire life. He gave it to me with a giant 200mm lens on it, I bought a broken one off eBay that had that 50mm lens on it. The newer one was my uncle, he’s been a professional photographer for a long time and hooked my up with some equipment when I told him I was getting into film.
Wow..no one is posting anything
Well my pictures arent real

I've been sick for 2 months already and haven't been able to go out and take photos
These are some photos my cousin took that I edited
Damn
Great shots
Lighting on the......blue car lol looks great
I'm not a car enthusiast
I definitely added a ton of blue to it, but it looks better than the original so it's fine

bro u ruined it
can we get a mod in here and delete his message smh my head
Bot
2 meh pans
i like the louisiana one but i the pan was only 85% good, so it did not fully turn out
back is in more focus than the front, since the front is getting closer quicker
Oooh
The motion blurring is a nice touch!. Settings?
uhh yeah 1/50?
Ok
nice
editing is so fun honestly
(yes I know it's overly warm, but that was the only way to get some life into the photo)
You could also experiment with split toning if you just want the car colors to pop
Then it just looks out of place
Nice
Looks great to me
I am my worst critic
Didn't know bots could use gifs
I swear 90% of bots are a giveaway based on their pfp alone
this one's weird though, not advertising anything, and just sending random messages in random channels
2 bmw edits with different color temps
I prefer the cooler one
There was a diesel beamer in my gf's parking garage the other night while I was teaching her how to pump air into her tires (basically troubleshooting the TPMS light on her dash) and she was like "why are you staring at that? It's just an old BMW" lmaoo
Never heard one with a slightly modified exhaust lol
hi, imo the left at least has white more accurate. i know photographers like to put their own artistic coloring in, but since there is white in the lights and the stripe on the ground, id prob enhance those to make it seem more real or get rid of the stripe since its distracting anyway. just my 2cents! i have an orange wrx so id be wanting to see that blue rex on the left more anyway hah
I agree, that’s where some of the ideas for split toning come in. The orange makes the reflections in the car look interesting but kind of overdoes it in other areas like the brick and the street
Cooler one looks more European-like imo. The slight sepia effect doesn't go with European cars imo (unless it's Italian maybe lol)
Speaking of split toning, I actually did it. Forgot to send it here though
mb deleted lightroom so now i don't have it
sadly I don't have any photos of the wrx :( but yeah I know the tint is too much, but not really sure what to add to the photo to make it stand out.
gm
"gm"
it's 9:03 PM
Time zones exist
Not when you're a bot (actually they do. But they’re irrelevant in that case)
They send a message every few days that is irrelevant to the conversation, they seem to have sentience, and they only ever talk in the photography channel
@young lance What's your thoughts on this user? you're online and I don't wanna anger theo by pinging him (lol sorry)
Such a pretty game
What is this?
nuts
What are your frame rates?
4070 + 5700x3d
1440p with Quality DLSS, ~60 FPS without frame gen
All 'base' settings are set to their highest except volumetrics and screen space reflections which are set more medium-ish
Then: RT reflections on, RT lighting on, ray reconstruction on, and RT quality set to Medium
(for the photo mode shots it uses path tracing, takes like 5-10 seconds to fully render)
But the regular gameplay looks pretty close to the photo mode results tbh
pretty good
Yeah, for the type of game and how good it looks I'm happy with 60fps
Actually with dlss4 transformer model I should give performance upscaling a try
I am running on a 3070.
Do I get the new transformer model and if so is it just a driver update?
Yup, all cards down to 20 series get it
Driver update should work for cyberpunk, for other games you have to swap the DLLs and force preset
Official support is very rough rn but pretty much any dlss3 game will work fine with the new model
It looks a bit better
But the issues are not resolved
Still have the same issues with transformer model
The ghosting and the shimmer around moving objects still exists
The blur that destroys texture details the second you move the camera was the most annoying to me, and that's massively improved
Still not fixed
Which if this is what they want for a mainstay, they should have resolved by now
All that AI talk and they still can't meet the clarity and detail of good optimization with good AA
90+% of AAA games these days rely on TAA anyways; I'd rather upscaling than that.
But yes in alternate timeline I'd love to go back to real native rendering with FXAA/SMAA/MSAA
I love crisp visuals and if possible will turn off TAA
I play Apex with FXAA via control panel. I wish they would have added MSAA, Titanfall 2 is on the same engine, is similar visually, and has it
Ngl I play apex and I have no idea what the difference is between the different AA types
old vs new edit, not the best but it's definitely a new look
first one isn't worse necessarily, but it's a much more monotone look
it also needs some sharpening
thats how all RAWs look like
actually no, that's my edit from a few months back
I artificially turned the headlights on bc it looks cooler B)
nice edit
oooo shrimp
the most deadly
does it taste good though
illegal?!!!! I guess it does make sense though
I'll have to try one out eventually, but I don't really like shrimp so idk
the woes of shooting at f/2, his nose is in focus but his eyes are not
reminds me I want to eventually get a 35mm f/1.2 or 135mm f/1.8
some of the bokeh on those lenses look so nice
effectively I have a f/1.2 50mm (speedbooster perks)
closest I have is a 50mm f/1.8
reminds me the 28-75mm f/2 from canon looked really cool. kinda wish we had more like that
5080 is temporary, lens is eternal
it's actually a f/2.8 24-70mm full frame lens, but using a speedbooster I'm able to stop down to f/2
I also have 24-70mm but I don't use too much of those adapters. I think I have 1 or 2 teleconverters I tried out a few times
hey 24-70 f/2.8 is very respectable
indeed, it's basically replaced my other (also quite nice) lenses because of it's focal range, and my uses for it not needing to go any lower than f/2
I have a 14mm f/1.4 ef-m native lens, and a 50mm f/1.8 that I also use with the speedbooster to go down to f/1.2
is that a 14mm fixed focal length?
hmm I haven't seen too many of those. I feel like besides fish eyes the vast majority of ultra wides are zooms
since it's apsc sensor, it's cropped to a ffe of around 24mm iirc
ah ok
25.6mm to be precise
I wish someone could give me free 400mm f/2.8 🙂
I wish someone could give me free 70-200mm f/2.8
this is the truth. their value far out lasts any GPU
but ai
oh this is nice, definitely my most versatile lens
I really want it honestly, but I really don't want to pay 1k for a lens
as that would be more than all of my camera gear combined
yeah it can be hard to justify. I think mine was around 1800
are you two familar with canon? any good lens bellow 500 bucks for low light?
like 2.8
for what use case and what lens mount
what are you taking pics of
I forgor. less then 100mm for wide angle shots
static subject? fast action?
static
so something like a 24-70 maybe? or fully fixed angle?
easy
ye
here is your lens sir
cheap cheap
I still have my stock f 4.5 18-45
he also said less than 100mm soooo
that exists???
my prayers have been an answered
f4.5 makes more sense ok
mistake lmao
welll it could be 100mm inclusive
nuh uh
is it EF mount?
alr, lower than 18 is crazy, what camera are u using
well I know canon has a 24-105mm f/4 that is very versatile. not quite as fast as 2.8 but still like 1300usd
ew no
well not lower. my bad
oh 18
just need higher qaulity glass and more light

did they just come out with a 16-28mm f/2.8?
I remember seeing some lens that had those exact specs on EF mount hold on
craaap it's for ef-s mount
the problem is at that wide aperture the more focal range you have the exponentially more expensive it gets
maybe just 2 lenses at separate ends of the focal range?
yeah I saw this. not sure how good it is, looks like it might be targetted for creators https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1875412-REG/canon_6906c002_rf_16_28mm_f_2_8_is.html
this is what I have, not as wide as u want though https://www.mpb.com/en-us/product/tamron-sp-24-70mm-f-2-8-di-vc-usd-canon-ef-fit
it is pretty affordable for a fast full frame ultrawide
oh neat
exactly why I went for it, but it does have its flaws
autofocus is not the fastest, also kinda loud. has quite a bit of vignetting compared to other lenses
but it's also half the price of the canon equivalent
yeah that's why I ask static subject or not. if you are trying to shoot wildlife or sports unfortunately you will really need to shell out a bit
on a ultrawide though it's not quite as critical since its much less depth of field
that's a really nice photo
ye
roar
I think this is the best image ive ever taken
what lens were you using?
the canon rf 100-400mm f5.6-8
i need to get me a good tele lens
my favorite lense
main problem is I almost exclusively do low-light photography :((
I'll just get an fx3 and go to 400000 iso
@molten garnet have you seen my eclipse images? 😏
no i have not 🐱
looks kinda like my fireworks photos lol, nothing in the frame except for the subject
ooo, make sure to get a cool building in the foreground
9 images!!!
yeah
I still need to learn how to composite images
its just bunch of photoshop, but all the details are real. its called stacking at different exposers. its fun
youtube can help lol
I need to do some of that, iirc I did some research regarding doing composites on firework photography, so I assume it'll be much of the same
maybe
finally importing the hundreds of images I took during lunar new year :)))
wonky ahh firework
a bit wonky, but the colors pop
such a nice photo, impaired by the fact that I put nothing in the foreground and I was too close
the firework itself looks much better than my previous attempt
I just set my camera up to take non-stop back to back 5 second exposures during the entire 15 minute show
chinese/lunar new year
nah, but my city has a big enough chinese population that we celebrate it anyways
yep
it's the weirdest thing, we just have a ton of asians and slavs in my city lol
west coast?
yep
thats why. thats normal
not really actually, most of the cities around me have much less of those minorities compared to my city
heres in florida we dont have too many folks from that part of the world
oh ok
but anyways. great images
Better than a smartphone
I mean, this is a phone photo
fireworks are tricky
it's a simple formula actually, but you just have to know what to do
I tried it once. It wasn’t good
I had these settings on my camera for the most part
F 8….hmmm
17mm is a lie, it says that because it doesn't know what a speedbooster is
anyways gtg, nice talk
See you
Next time I see fireworks I want to try backlighting a subject with them
100%, I see 3-4 fireworks shows a year so I should have a good opportunity to get a good photo
I usually see 1 or 2 times a year
something like this would be awesome. but i don't think i've seen firework shows that big
Those usually happen in major cities in China (they really like their fireworks)
oh yes
i love it
This is why I hate Jan 1st
Can't get any sleep
Firecrackers going off everywhere
Actually this was February 1st
Anyways I think it's fine for people to celebrate major holidays for 1 or 2 nights out of the year, there's nothing wrong with that
Yeah
Can turn out super sick if it's a long exposure
I'd have to find the photo but I did it with my phone
Probably would've turned out way better if those lights on the left were turned off though
Yeah that glare though
Yeah I took this a few years ago lol
random photo that I took who knows how long ago
also once again re-edited this image bc it's fun
Vaguely reminds me of this photo I took ~4 years back
I actually took a similar photo to that even, but not gonna look through thousands of photos for it though lol
Oo
Yayy over edited astrophotography!!!
I really need to step up my editing game
Still trying to adapt to darktable
(coming from Lightroom)
I should also get an oled panel
My photos look decent on a LCD panel but on OLED it can be a bit overexposed
Lol it's the opposite for me, trying to adapt to Lightroom coming from darktable
Oh crap!
I realize now that it's far too dark, but making it brighter is overexposing it, so idk what to do now
I've been spoiled by auto color balance
My lightroom workflow in a nutshell is pretty much just
press auto button
crank up the vibrance (and exposure if needed)
So many fields
Mid west?
PNW
I just passed by the most beautiful landscape that I've ever seen and took subsequently the worst photo of it I've ever seen
East side of the Columbia gorge?
Very specific but no, not near there
pretty sure that's the midwest
be careful just doing this
its not a good practice
you'll need to correct for other colors
you might have a bunch of blue you didnt see on something gray come out, and if you dont correct for that it will look weird
yeah I always do
It's mostly the greens
tho nowadays I use the better approach of changing the color calibration before messing with vibrance
When someone says you look like a nature photographer that’s when you know you overpacked
☠️
Nikon p1000 🔥 🔥 🔥
good for UfOs
This was one of my first attempts at shooting in manual mode on a DSLR
Water
With water like that I also encourage experimenting with very slow shutters
Can be fun
Have you ever looked outside and just saw white nothingness?
Drove for about an hour and all I saw was fields of white
i have lenses that much
they get way more expensive too
yeah 600mm
Yeah
ur a g
no problem
Budget?
Anything below like 200
Lmao good luck
Yeah I just realized that
😭
I think ima say screw it and try with my phone
I'll probably get something decent through editing
honestly yeah prob phone depending on what you have. there are options for low budget like a used canon eos but you also have to factor a lens where usually the cheapest ones are around 120-200usd
I got a t4i + 50mm lens for under $200, it's a decent starter setup if you can find it for that price
Cheapest ones are $50 or below wdym 😭
D7000 might be decently cheap
Well most of the cheap and decent lenses
I need a mirrorless lens
If that's possible
Mirrorless is more expensive, unless maybe if you do a slr lens with an adapter
What adapter
A used Canon SL3 could be a decent option. It's not mirrorless but for a dlsr it's quite small
https://www.ebay.com/itm/396219873891
This Canon EOS Rebel SL3, a 24.1MP digital SLR camera in black, with EF-S 18-55mm f/4-5.6, was used in a podcast studio for about two years as a streaming camera. We set it up to stream, and never touched it again. We are only moving on because we are upgrading. This camera works perfectly, and it is in Excellent condition. This camera features ...
Main downside is only 9 focus points, but I'd imagine for a car shoot that isn't too much of a problem
kit lens is reasonably versatile as well
Canon EOS M50 24.1MP Mirrorless Camera Kit w/3 Lenses, Mic and Accessories
is this good
300 bucks
Oh i need to shoot video probably, I'm so lost on cameras Lol
Definitely not my forte
Alr
if you're really wanting to get into photography or videography, even with my limited photography experience I'd recommend getting a real camera eventually. I don't have the experience, but I was about to get into photography when I asked my friend (previous photographer) whether it would be a good idea to use this old Canon EOS Rebel that I have laying around
He said stuff like "yeah it's fine if you want to get into photography. Learning the settings and everything can get you experienced enough for a real camera"
Phones are obviously limited but I'd imagine they'd help with basic photography skills (maybe editing if needed as well)
Again, I'm not a photographer but I take on a lot of hobbies and I can tell you that having the right gear (especially with some beginner experience) would be a good idea. Just start with your phone for the super basic stuff and then save up for a decent DSLR
I don't wanna be into it, I just wanna take a better picture than a phone and have a mirroless option
Yeah I guess basically just save up for a decent camera then
I have a 67 mustang I'm going to drive this summer and I just want some cool ass photos to go with it
Or edits
ohhh gotcha
Yeah that would be nice
Speaking of that, what's the car in your pfp? I can't quite tell
It's a Mercedes 1958 300sl with gullwing doors
yooo that's sick
Yeah Goodluck buying or finding parts for one
You have to get the parts custom from mercedes
And the car is worth near 250k
That's just fair condition
Half a million for the models that are rarer, have certain defects, or weird paints from the factory
And it's hard to find original paint still
Because the 50s paint was kinda crappy
Post war Germany yk
A lot of the Mercedes gullwings just turned into collectors cars when the people bought them
I probably wouldn't even drive it if I owned one tbh
Just for maintainence lmao
I don't trust the people around me to not stop sometimes
I feel like that in my classics all the time
I also feel like people becomes 10x more stupid when I drive my classics
$300??? I need to buy that
It's the best deal I've ever heard of for an m50, what are the lenses?
Ummm lemme bring it back up
Famous last words
Imagine if they bundled it with an AliExpress lens
still would be a decent deal lol
boi ts so tuff
How many tries did it take for you to get the shutter speed right?
well at burst its about 10 a second
so i probably have like 100 photos of this gulfstream
Lmao
but yeah this was basically the only usable one. such is life with panning
Yeah
I tried to shoot moving birds
Never got a single photo
They're too unpredictable
And also I suck at tracking them
got some here
wasnt trackin em and theyre not in focus
Bald eagle?
but still cool 😂
nah probably some basic birds
I should go to the airport some day
Or near it
Would be helpful if there were mountains around
I shot some decent photos in Hong Kong
It wasn't near the airport but if you know anything about HK
Lots of mountains
Was a bit of a hike
But I got pretty close to the descent path
Close enough for my 30-270mm lens that is
looks like a thumbnail to a SCP video
What pictures can I take with this
Probably at least 24 per second
It could probably take a photo of your mom. You mind trying that for me? Show me how the photo turns out :) 👍
Yeah well his dad probably did
home video camera
Lolll
one of the photos of all time
I swear, whyyyy do iphones STOP recording when someone decides to SEND ME A TEXT
I have lost so many recordings due to then being interrupted over the past few months it is absolutely ridiculous
your vignette is way too intense
That’s a you problem. I’ve never had that lol
Unless you're using some goofy camera app lol
😭
Yeah @green condor id be curious
- are you using the default camera app
- what iOS version and phone model?
Oh also is it rcs/sms/imessage
(Just cause rcs is newish on ios not because it's bad), idk maybe you've somehow found a bug worth reporting
imessage, ios 18, iphone 16 pro, default app
I feel like it might be intentional? But seems like a huge oversight, if you are recording something Id imagine you wouldn’t want to hear a text
Ok very weird
My thought would be to make a shortcut/automation that toggles on do not disturb when you open the camera app
Not sure if there's a way to auto toggle it off when you close the app though
Yeah that’s possible
or.. f/1.2 😳
This is f/2 and it's already out of focus

Or f/1
I mean technically I can, I have an f/1.8 50mm lens, and with a speedbooster it gets down to f/1.2
does it matter if it works as one?
I'd be super impressed if these were from a phone
I might be impressed, but it's pretty obvious that it's digital zoom
^it def has that phone processed look to it
So I'd say either taken on a phone or maybe on a DSLR and then cropped in pretty hard + edited
