Hi, I'm trying to get good with Tristana, but it seems I'm really having a hard time knowing when to go in; as a result, I always die. I really felt weird using her and confused on how I should play her. I mainly play Twitch, Ezreal, and Caitlyn. I do know some mechanics like how to buffer my Rocket jump/Caitlyn Net/Ezreal Flash for CCs to save my life.

My current build is Bork -> Phantom Dancer/Immortal Shield Bow -> Infinity Edge/Mortal Reminder. Is the bloodthirster build better in a way? I’ve never had success snowballing with that build. I do feel Phantom Dancer/Immortal Shieldbow has more value.

Runes is lethal tempo. I take flash exhaust and flash cleanse sometimes.

Currently playing on Emerald ranks.

The reason why you cant snowball with bork is because it does current hp. While against things like sion it would do 500+. Against Seraphine it will do 50

#

Which is nowhere near value that you could get from other items

#

Also knowing your bomb placement is crucial

bork is a terrible item now so the reason you're doing bad is because you're rushing one of the worst item in the game

if you're new than the most friendly build to play as trist would be BT->magnetic blaster->navori->healing reduction->mortal reminder->flex item

Off Meta Builds to Try

Cleanse against CC
Barrier (Preferred)
Heal (Optional)
Ignite (Possible)
Exhaust (Against assassin, maybe. Probably don't want it in general)

Berserker Boot
Collector (steal shutdowns when behind and it sounds like you are behind often as Tristana)

Navori
Infinity Edge

Mortal Reminder (If you are new ro the game almost nobody gets anti-heal, so this item really shines)

Guardian Angel (Defensive item, better if you are ahead. If super behind, can trade for an aggressive item. Making easy picks when behind is the way to make comebacks)

Optional Items
(Item ordered by compatibility)
Omnivamp boot is better when ahead to protect your shutdown.

Lethal boot if you want to assassinate (perhaps for shutdown on q squishy)

Defensive boot are also good if they look like they can make a comeback by killing you.

Bloodthirster early but can delay building it. Better when ahead against sustain damage.

Shieldbow in 4~6: Defensive item against burst damage when ahead.

Maw in 4~6: Defensive against AP (generally built when ahead)

Runaan in any slot: Safer positioning to hit cluster of targets in teamfights.

Phantom Dancer 4~6. I consider movement speed utility that I build when ahead in general.

Essence Reaver in 3~6: Burst item against squishies. Great for roaming and picking around the map.

Magnetic Blaster in slots 3~6 (good for extra range against high mobility or long range champions).

Serpent in 4~6: Anti shield burst item.

Botrk in 4~6: Anti health tanks

Let me know if you'd like matchups.

Barrier is more versatile and easier to use well while exhaust is more niche. If you are already having trouble on Tristana, adding that extra active to worry about is just going to overload yourself.

Ban Options
Draven: His axe throw cancels your jump. You need to contest for lead in the first 2 levels with a strong lane support or you trades are going to be extremely hard for you. He is hard to gap close or chase or escape from.

Samira: Hard to snowball against her as she can just sweep away a main portion of your damage. Even a bad sweep can deny lots of damage.

Other Threats
Thresh: His swipe cancels rocket jump and his hook isn't easy to cancel either.

Lucian (with Nami): He has lots of damage especially mid game.

Nilah: Hard to stack explosive charge in trades. Has immunity.

Minor Threats
Kaisa: You outpush the wave and if she uses ability on wave then you can trade for free while her ability is on cc.

Ashe
Brand
Senna
Xayah

Easy Matchups
Zeri: You can bully her early to mid game with the same strat against Kaisa. Be careful of her in late game.

Varus: Punish his CD

Blitzcrank: Rocket Jump cancels his hook, negating the pick.

Synergy
Lulu and Thresh

Nami, Leona, Nautilus, Karma

Yuumi, Blitzcrank, Pyke, Alistar

Low Synergy
Ashe

Do you have any tricks on when to go in as tristana?

livid moat
# zealous narwhal I find it easier to offensively rocket jump thresh’s hook if he doesnt flay. I ...

Well, Varus's weakness is pushing. If you push him under tower then he has to focus on farming and less on poking.

He is weak to hard engage supports.

He has a fast trade, so you can just focus on pushing until a good hard engage opportunity or ganks (he is vulnerable to ganks as well)

Remember, her great early game pushing potential should mean level advantage for you. If you want to limit test, the window between your level up and their level up is the best time to trade or all in.

As for teamfighting, you can shred their diver or dive their back line depending on the team comp. It comes with experience. Focus on whoever is the most impactful on their team in general (that you can kill). Kite and position and wait for the opportunity. You are generally not the playmaker, so you have to be patient and play around whoever that is.

Sometime it is better to jump to a safer distance to pull off your combo or even jump back in way that you can still deal damage rather than be out of the fight.

The difference between a good adc and the best adc in high elo is that the best adc will make the game changing engage play. But if it fails it is just a throw and int which is what solo q experience will be if somebody tries to be the playmaking adc.
