with a premade team, yeah sure go for it. In solo q i doubt you could be helpful (people will just run it down mid when they see the pick, or they'll refuse to cooperate)
you'd probably want support items on her, cuz her damage scaling is ass and shes best used as a support
its a pick you could do to help your hypercarry actually carry. Them having 2 supports rather than one etc.

what emil said. If you ever pick lulu mid you've just lost the game because your team will int so hard they'll crap themselves

lulu mid can win lane but yeah since her damage scaling isn't that mindblowing just build support items and hope ur base damage is enough to hold off the enemy laner
ive seen lulu mid locked in some competetive games when they're trying to funnel one person so they'll have two supports in the game
but if you're locking lulu mid with the intent to carry games with damage you're better off with other midlaners

@remote estuary she's strong against Akali, that girl cannot lane at all against Lulu
but in my experience, that's the only lane you'll win and actually get a kill
you would take Nashor's into Liandry's(could opt in for the tank ver. if you would commit into a tank build)
since your job is to just zone Akali from gold, you could go tank and bait abilities since they expect you to be paper soft
