I just started playing jayce not awhile ago because he have a very cool design and got to learn a bit about his kits but when i apply it to a real game mainly top i get absolutely shit on by bruisers like aatrox, jax irelia etc.. mainly in the trading phase but somehow we still win but its really irritate to lose a lane with Jayce can someone help me explaining how to play him early game?

I assumed you know his combo. Which is gun EQW then hammer QW 3BA E then gun. His items got nerfed hard so play supper safe early. Use his gun only for farm, do not push, last hit only. Switch to hammer and use E to smash them all-in champ out (Irelia, Jax, Renekton, etc). Poke the enemy with his gun (basic attack or EQ combo or W only). Only engage if your combo can finish the enemy.
Jayce was fun back in the day. Now, I would not recommend playing him in Top due to his damage out put from mid to late game and his squishy.
Mid is okay.
I also played him on PC so that’s why I referred his skills as QWE. Q is first skill, W is second skill, E is third skill (left to right in wild rift).

Thanks alot for mentioning the poking with w because i dont poke with w.
And i am extremely aggressive with him early on
QE and w turns hammer and combo but the opponent runs away before i can even engage with hammer
The fact that i go all in with combo when the enemy is noy even half health yet lol
