Hi what was the problem? Wi-Fi not connected?

dense lagoon
#

I havent solved it i need a solution

valid sun
#

Same here

terse adder
#

Did you guys try older version of OpenCore?

#

Just asking because I've same problem as you guys.

valid sun
#

Nope just the new. I did the installation with the internet cable rather than the Wi-Fi and it worked. The problem now is that while I am installing the oclp on disk ,it only boots from usb. I guess I am doing something wrong so I am trying again from the start and with only Wi-Fi..let’s see..

terse adder
#

Okay

#

So this time I using Catalina and upgrade to Ventura

#

I'm waiting for it

valid sun
#

Ok I will inform soon. I am doing a clean install.

#

Same problem again, I think it is loosing the connection. I will try with cable on.

terse adder
#

Okay gotcha

#

So I try install Catalina and upgrade to Ventura

#

It's work great

#

but I use OpenCore 0.5.3

valid sun
#

Ok great, I will do this attempt with 0.6 and if i have problems I will try with 0.5.3 . Let’s see..

terse adder
#

Great!

#

After that I update to 0.6.1

#

and It's work fine!

valid sun
#

That’s good!! For me it happened again while I had the cable on . From there I restarted it and let it doing it the installation again. In this attempt it worked. Funny thing is that when I logged in for first time oclp didn’t ask me to install it on disk .. it had already done it . (?) Anyway it’s up and running but I think that there must be an issue.. that’s all for now.

terse adder
#

Lol hope you luck for this time tho!

My 2012 macbook air did this but I quit out of it and restarted it and it just started the process again itself and worked the next time

ive tried with TB2 to eth adapter and still no fix

terse adder
dense lagoon
#

Havent installed oc to disk

terse adder
#

So I think If you really want to install

#

Should try install high sierra and install opencore on the disk

#

and partitions the disk just a bit for installer and install it

#

Should work

#

but I don't know what if change the method on 04:33 with erase main partitions and install

#

lol

#

If anyone has this problem on the MBA4,2 just format the drive with HFS+ (macOS Extended Journaled) It worked for me, the installer will automatically format the drive

I had the same issue several times on a MBP mid 2009 5,5
After a few times - indeed without the USB connected and no WiFi afaik - it booted into Ventura.
I had already installed 0.6.1. to my SSD. No idea what causes this exactly?

On my Macmini6,1 formatting it hfs+ seemed to be the solution… although people were saying it is the multiple restarts, but that didn’t work for me

vital goblet
#

Ok, so it had nothing to do with jhfs+ and everything to do with the fact that I pressed the partition button to do it

dense lagoon
#

Formatting hfsp doesn’t work for me either

from the terminal in the installer

diskutil list
diskutil eraseDisk APFS 'Macintosh HD' disk0

#

Make sure disk0 is the one you want to install to

#

That’s how to ensure the disk is completely wiped

#

That is the problem I believe , the disk is not cleanly wiped

#

The GUI disk utility is hiding things like the EFI and the recovery partition

#

So make sure it is fully reformatted APFS and then it should work

#

Had the same problem. Did a clean install of 13.2 instead of 13.2.1. That works.

#

@split scroll there is a lot different between macbook5,2 and macbookair4,2

#

in addition I do have a Windows laptop, two infact but I do want a Mac for Ventura…

split scroll
dense lagoon
#

They are from 2012 and work fine

#

Definitely not worth Mac Studio prices

#

Mac Mini for that matter

#

Anyways I don't care, all I want is to get this Mac on Ventura even if it "is just for fun and nothing can be done with them..."

#

The update error is easily solved As it was solved for others, you can patiently follow the instructions or wait for the opencore update

dense lagoon
#

I know that, but yes none of the others methods work for me

#

Same as in OP's photo, "an error occured preparing the software update".

wild lance
#

I was able to install Monterey via oclp 0.6.1 and then update to 13.2.1 Ventura via the app store successfully.

crisp seal
#

The solution is to install it on the internal drive

wild lance
#

The failed install left me with no OS on the machine so installing to the internal drive wasn't an option without an OS.

#

I was able to get it working but I did not use that solution.

#

Thank you for your advice.
My problem was also the message „An error occurred preparing the software update.“ On my MBP 8,1 with clean installing on formatted SSD.
Multiple restarts and the NVRAM-Reset (Alt+CMD+R+P) after the error message helped me out. I tried this on two different HDs, and both worked.

dense lagoon
#

Nice

#

Unfortunately that doesn’t work for me.. wow. But chances are 0.6.2 fixed this, I saw something about Ethernet on first boot.. not sure if that relates to this but some users have reported success with Ethernet connected on first boot

dense lagoon
#

Holy damn it actually worked

#

So to anyone who gets this error make sure you have at least OpenCore Legacy Patcher 0.6.2
