Hi what was the problem? Wi-Fi not connected?
I havent solved it i need a solution
Same here
Did you guys try older version of OpenCore?
Just asking because I've same problem as you guys.
Nope just the new. I did the installation with the internet cable rather than the Wi-Fi and it worked. The problem now is that while I am installing the oclp on disk ,it only boots from usb. I guess I am doing something wrong so I am trying again from the start and with only Wi-Fi..let’s see..
Ok I will inform soon. I am doing a clean install.
Same problem again, I think it is loosing the connection. I will try with cable on.
Okay gotcha
So I try install Catalina and upgrade to Ventura
It's work great
but I use OpenCore 0.5.3
Ok great, I will do this attempt with 0.6 and if i have problems I will try with 0.5.3 . Let’s see..
That’s good!! For me it happened again while I had the cable on . From there I restarted it and let it doing it the installation again. In this attempt it worked. Funny thing is that when I logged in for first time oclp didn’t ask me to install it on disk .. it had already done it . (?) Anyway it’s up and running but I think that there must be an issue.. that’s all for now.
Lol hope you luck for this time tho!
I can only use latest because ive got a 2011 mac with no gpu accel
What mac? I tried with a TB to eth adapter, official apple one and it got a little further but still same error
My 2012 macbook air did this but I quit out of it and restarted it and it just started the process again itself and worked the next time
I have a 2012 non retina. I think that the procedure is that you have to let it stuck restart it and let it continue. It will reinstall the os again (28 min) in my occasion but as @cinder sable said it will continue. At least that was in my occasion. Also I did a fresh install not an upgrade from previous version of Big Sur etc.
So is that you try another version like big sur ?
bump
ive tried with TB2 to eth adapter and still no fix
Did you try without USB Flash Drive?
Havent installed oc to disk
So I think If you really want to install
Should try install high sierra and install opencore on the disk
and partitions the disk just a bit for installer and install it
In this video, I will show you how to upgrade to macOS Ventura on an unsupported old Mac instead of a clean install.
So if you wanna upgrade macOS Ventura on your Old Mac / Unsupported Mac this video will helps you a lot.
I highly recommend you please Back up your important data first because we are upgrading macOS Ventura on an unsupported M...
Should work
but I don't know what if change the method on 04:33 with erase main partitions and install
lol
If anyone has this problem on the MBA4,2 just format the drive with HFS+ (macOS Extended Journaled) It worked for me, the installer will automatically format the drive
I had the same issue several times on a MBP mid 2009 5,5
After a few times - indeed without the USB connected and no WiFi afaik - it booted into Ventura.
I had already installed 0.6.1. to my SSD. No idea what causes this exactly?
On my Macmini6,1 formatting it hfs+ seemed to be the solution… although people were saying it is the multiple restarts, but that didn’t work for me
Ok, so it had nothing to do with jhfs+ and everything to do with the fact that I pressed the partition button to do it

Formatting hfsp doesn’t work for me either

from the terminal in the installer
diskutil list
diskutil eraseDisk APFS 'Macintosh HD' disk0
Make sure disk0 is the one you want to install to
That’s how to ensure the disk is completely wiped
That is the problem I believe , the disk is not cleanly wiped
The GUI disk utility is hiding things like the EFI and the recovery partition
So make sure it is fully reformatted APFS and then it should work
also me have this error on macbook mini 5.2 opencore legacy 0.6.1
did you fix it?
still did not work
no
dude
just connect your device to internet by lan cable and nvram & smc reset your mac
its work for my macbook mini 5.2
also dont forgect your hard partition is apfs
👆🏻
have I not said that doesn’t work for me?
Had the same problem. Did a clean install of 13.2 instead of 13.2.1. That works.
Just buy a Windows laptop
Any method mentioned here did not work for you! bruh so what is that? ventura on mac book 5.2
@split scroll there is a lot different between macbook5,2 and macbookair4,2
in addition I do have a Windows laptop, two infact but I do want a Mac for Ventura…
It's great that you have two windows laptops, you can sell both of them and spend some money to own a mac studio like me,
ported ventura on these macbooks is just for fun and nothing can be done with them...
They are from 2012 and work fine
Definitely not worth Mac Studio prices
Mac Mini for that matter
Anyways I don't care, all I want is to get this Mac on Ventura even if it "is just for fun and nothing can be done with them..."
The update error is easily solved As it was solved for others, you can patiently follow the instructions or wait for the opencore update
I know that, but yes none of the others methods work for me
I am running into the same error as you, I am on a MacBookair 5,1. I have tried all the methods mentioned above with no success yet.
Same as in OP's photo, "an error occured preparing the software update".
I was able to install Monterey via oclp 0.6.1 and then update to 13.2.1 Ventura via the app store successfully.
The solution is to install it on the internal drive
solution is here #1067697639170261022 message
The failed install left me with no OS on the machine so installing to the internal drive wasn't an option without an OS.
I was able to get it working but I did not use that solution.
Thank you for your advice.
My problem was also the message „An error occurred preparing the software update.“ On my MBP 8,1 with clean installing on formatted SSD.
Multiple restarts and the NVRAM-Reset (Alt+CMD+R+P) after the error message helped me out. I tried this on two different HDs, and both worked.
