I would say base your theme on like what colores you like,hobbies your into ext. like pick out colors you want to use and incorperate it over the island make areas based on your hobbies and interests. I really like soccer so,I want to have a soccer field on my island. By doing this I decided I wanted a forestcore island. Hope this helps!
