You’d just have to catch them while they are doing it. Many of us are just willing to give some out. I do as well, if I become good friends with certain people.

It’s just that the mods (and many of players) don’t really like it when folks just DM us asking for bells.

For me, that’s a pretty quick way for me to ignore you, and makes me think you are just a freeloader who doesn’t wanna play the game with me.

this is late but i feel that 100%. someone shook a TON of decorative fruit trees around my island when I opened even though i literally posted that I was giving out spare fruit from my storage...makes me not want to open my island again and thats sad because i spent a LOT of time working on it.
