All other tools in this game will break, sadly. But if you buy the special ones from Nook's upgraded store (outdoorsy, colorful, printed, etc.), you can reset the durability if you customize them, each time you do it. I think they maybe have 25 uses or so each? I don't count but I have gotten a good sense of when to do it and I get to keep the same tool forever.
