I would try to focused a bit more on terraforming and fencing first, then placing furniture here and there. Experiment with what you might like. And planting trees, flowers and crops help too! 😁

You have to talk to Tom Nook if you wanna build a bridge (only one bridge/incline can be built at a time). Then you can donate bells for the bridge (other players can donate too).

You don't? Maybe you haven't unlocked it yet. If not, you can use a vaulting pole (you can get the recipe from Blathers). After some village hunting, Tom Nook will ask you to build a set-up kit for a log bridge and plot some land for three homes. 😁

Going to treasure islands and taking items from them isn’t illegal. They can always remove items in your game if they see fit but they don’t punish those who go to treasure islands and take things from there. Nintendo does not blame or punish users who do that nor do they care. They care more about those who modded their islands, like is it for malicious intent or if they are breaking Nintendo tos.
