See but there has to be a middleground, because neither of those are good without the other. If the game is too structured, then it ends up boring because you can't personalise your town/island. If it's too free, then it ends up boring because you have too many choices to make and without inspiration it just gets overwhelming

Like it's still a good game, it's just idk

New Leaf was 3DS, City Folk/Wii, Wild World/DS and the original was GameCube and I don't believe any of those consoles are on a virtual console type thing yet unless there's a GC virtual console on GameCube. If you want to purchase them best bet is hunting down used copies.

But really the original GameCube one will seem boring I'd think as it's so bare bones compared to even City Folk or New Leaf.

The luck system in New Leaf is super different to how it is in New Horizons - luck is a thing regardless of whether you've spoken to Katrina, but by following Katrina's advice it becomes a good luck day

Bad luck means that you'll have more wasps in your trees and will trip over frequently afaik

I think having good Feng Shui in your house can help resolve this bad luck, as well as wearing a four-leaf clover, but I'm not sure

It’s a good game, but people consider it as the weakest title in the game, the main things to consider was the online that moon already said, but also, grass deterioration was introduced in city folk, meaning if you run basically everywhere, you will only have a brown floor, and basically I think can cause big issues in winter

Also i think villager photos do not exist in city folk?

But other than that, its good, and it does have features you can only get in that game

And if you do have a wild world town, you can move in to city folk from your wild world town

This is a question about Animal Crossing Wild World and not about New Horizons (not sure if that's alright or not), but I was just wondering if anyone knows of a way that you can play Animal Crossing Wild World Online, since Nintendo WFC is down for the game and all. I was looking through random forums and such and it seems like there were some people who found a way how to play it online, but I'm not exactly sure how to do it. Just asking, since I'm planning on getting Wild World for my friend who is moving away, so we can play together (she only has a ds, not a 3ds or anything.) Thanks so much!

I think the only what you can play online is locally, other than that, you can’t play online in wild world sadly

If you have the right kind of router, there is a version of Wiimmfi that works for a select few DS games, including MKDS and ACWW! There are a handful of tutorials on youtube that show how to do it

Actually seems pretty easy, but IIRC the biggest issue is that the router type is old and hard to come across

Pretty sure you do something in the settings of your internet connection, but its been a while since I tried so I dont remember that much

All you guys out here getting the old-school games and I'm here with the games I've had since childhood. 😂 No, seriously though good for you I just find it a bit entertaining to see how many of you are so fond of the older games meanwhile the last time I tried playing GC animal crossing I was like, "there's not a lot to do." 🤣 I got Zelda: breath of the wild for Christmas.

Honestly couldn’t say what the best AC is? There’s lots of good things about each, but then there’s something that lets each down imo

I mean, I liked the older games in their time but once I got used to NL and then tried to play original GameCube AC it was just a contrast in terms of what the games could do, etc.

GameCube has a simpler charm, villagers had a more sarcastic side. Wild World, I barely played and don't remember much of. City Folk felt like an improvement over the GC version and the city itself was interesting (well I liked buying Gracie's clothing b/c I could never get the car clean enough or whatever in the GC game), New Leaf's strength was the mayor aspect and so far it's looking to me like New Horizons is about the building and design. I feel like New Leaf and NH were what the series has worked towards all along and little 11-12 YO me playing the original GameCube version would probably love seeing how it all evolved.

I think NH's weakness might be that it's almost too focused on the building.

It was 2002ish that the GameCube one came out, technology was not as evolved (that said Wind waker holds up well, graphically. Though to be fair if there's a remake of it I've not played it as I still have a GC and the game)

I see what you mean does feel like it's somewhat easier. But then I remember being able to pay off my house and all on GC stupid fast with the 30k bells cheat you could use 3x a day and there not being much besides furniture or (lamer looking) clothes to spend those bells on.

Sheesh, GameCube, I still have: paper Mario thousand year door, Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, Tony Hawk (Underground, UG 2, American Wasteland), super Mario sunshine, Harvest Moon A Wonderful Life, Harvest Moon Magical Melody. I remember renting the original Pikmin from Blockbuster but never got into it so never bought it.

You'll like it! It's fun, I loved it - it's similar to NH but not such an emphasis on building and you don't have to craft everything and your tools like shovels and so on don't break. (I think the "shovels etc. breaking" should've not been introduced at all, historically all that broke was the axe)

It's sad how many villagers were cut for like, no reason, from the original games... Like I don't see a problem with Hector or Hank ;-; why were they cut?? I get that they couldn't fit many villagers into Wild World because the DS couldn't handle it, but then they brought back a ton in City Folk I'm pretty sure - so why didn't they bring them all back :c

I'm hoping the new February update of New Horizons should add in 12 new villagers, including 6 NEW and 6 returning! They're part of adding into Pocket Camp along with Ankha.

Here is my prediction of the 12 NEW animals in the February update: NEW peppy cat villager, NEW snooty frog villager, NEW smug hippo villager, NEW smug kangaroo villager, NEW normal lion villager, NEW lazy tiger villager, Leigh (sisterly chicken), Belle (peppy cow), Fruity (jock duck), Elina (sisterly elephant), Champ (jock monkey), Pigleg (cranky pig).

And btw I very highly doubt that they'll add new villagers to specifically PC and not New Horizons or a new game, if they weren't in New Leaf then Nintendo would have to make completely new textures and models for the villagers, and there's really no reason for them to put in that amount of time and effort I misread this lol nvm, I feel like new villagers would be considered a major update tho :"3 (also Ankha is coming January not February)

The classic animal crossing game is the best. Sure, it was much more limited and it didnt have sherb, but it was much more relaxing and boy OH BOY, the original soundtrack slaps!! I especially love how you used to be able to store letters from previous towns after resetting, so if i decided i wanted another town , i use my old villagers mail to store stuff like furniture or bells. Even though in new horizons you get free renovations after paying your last loan, people cant see that. But in gamecube, once you pay your final load then nook goes out of his way to make a full on statue for you. Man i miss the old animal crossing...
