you should start with a simple colour scheme - 2-3 colours. try to stick to furniture from the same set or 2 different sets tops.

here's an example of what i mean:
-all from the same furniture range.
-colours are: mint, white and a third as accent (yellow)
-same theme: tropical/beach house

i used the diner clock because it fits the mint colour scheme. so the mint green furniture from the Diner set would also match this room

on your case, i'd focus on searching the beach every day for bottles with DIY recipes and seek the villagers every day for their DIYs. there should always be someone crafting someone at each time of day: morning, afternoon and evening

wood and log furniture ought to be easy to get first.

The top floor and the basement are long enough that you can kinda "split them in two", basically fit two rooms in one. These are my two, as an example

A very classic idea for a basement could also be to make it your scary/haunted room, if you want something like that. One example I thought of would be to make a Haunted Gallery with Haunted Redd Art, again, the room is long enough to fit all.
Also, theres enough room on the walls to fill them with all the music from K.K.!

It may take a while, but Flick will create a model of a bug if you take three of that bug to him. Could be faster to trade in the trade channels.
Order/make/trade a wallpaper and a floor that looks "museum" to you. And tables to place them on.

Honestly? I wanted a few red items dotted around the room to tie together a red-theme without making everything in the room red, if that makes sense. I went with the brown version of the sofas for a while but they just didn't seem to fit in properly, they faded into the background too much. So a friend traded me the red couch to see how it would look, and somehow it just...worked 🤷‍♀️

I think that’s as much detail as I can get out of this room and it still making sense lol. I like the little sliding screen thing on the floor to help delineate between the kitchen/dining area

I try to imagine stuff happening in real life in the room. Like the red stools are off to the side and the arcade seats against the walls but obviously irl they’d be moved as needed for seating. The red screens are meant to imply the kitchen is blocked off from the dining area, so it’s intentional you can’t actually walk back there in game (if they were one block further forward there wouldn’t be enough space for chairs). I think thinking of that can help organize stuff in a way that can help maximize use of space. Thank you for coming to my Ted talk

In my opinion, it already looks fantastic! Sometimes it's better not to clutter a room too much, your room has the perfect amount of items.
If you really want to add something, maybe a small table between the two chairs in the corner, with a tea set on it? But it isn't really needed.

every individual villager comes with a set of items you can use for their house as you get more clients this will fill your order catalogue more and more

implying you can make houses with upstairs and downstairs at least

so depending on the villagers you designed for, you'll gain whatever items you got to use for each
