Using the Island Designer Permits, you just make a river around a spot of land and then shape it with the River Permit

After that, I added paths, plants, and furniture.

For this island, I wanted the river thin enough to hop over, so it’s 1 and 2 spaces wide. The island is a bit larger than pictured because it’s on my 3rd level. Up there it’s currently just trees, shrubs, and flowers, but the river wraps all around it

Hmm I would suggest instead of focusing on the rivers to go ahead and design your entrance since that will help set the mood for your island. City island tend to have more manmade rivers, forest islands tend to be more flowy with waterfalls and such. So having a general idea of what you like will help. Example, do you like the rive to be connected to both river mouths or do you want to have them disconnected? I tend to like them disconnected and to make a loose shape. So if you want to focus on river I would think of that and terraforming in terms of general shapes you like. I hope this makes sense and maybe helps

alright, well my entrance has always been kind of an issue since its so close to my airport, and its just ONE spot off from being perfectly aligned, so i never knew what to do with it

i remember once i did a bunch of flowers and bushes in a fenced area, with a wavy dirt path to kind of give the illusion it was centered

That's always the worst so I have 2 islands (because I'm extra) the natural once uses terraforming to make you enter RS from the lower right corner instead of straight one which hides it well. The city island I'm working on uses the castle walls to hid RS a bit your eye can't tell if it's straight or not. Point being is I would consider using height to help disrupt the fact RS doesn't line up.

So for my city island, I just had the road pass by RS then used castle items on the front to hide it a bit with some terraforming (not kidcore but it would work as that with more color). Horrible Gaming on Youtube did kidcore for her daughter's island for a more simple lead up so you could used some inspo from that if you want.

Hey guys, I'm having a little trouble deciding on the color I'm using for my paths. I've had it like #1 for a while, but I made it a little darker recently and I'm not sure if I like it more or if I should have kept it the same?

@small python 8x8 is imo absolute minimum for aesthetic and mobility id go. Anything less feels cramped.

Also due to camera angle, if you plan on having trees the trees take 3 to four spaces for the next item to be visable. So placing it at bottom of the grid allows them to be there and still have items in the yard and not block the house etc.

But to make buildings I place the in game wood path to mark those and the arch brick path for my roads and then a custom design. The hydrangea bushes look pretty fancy aswell

So I would recommend doing something similar to what Horrible Gaming on Youtube does. She builds the outside of the place (ex. Target/School) then uses the space behind the bookcases/display stands as the inside of the building so you can like walk up into kinda. Downside is it's a big build but it's pretty neat. My other suggestion would be to make it more closed in.

Cottagecore islands usually have a heavy forest theme. I would suggest to make trees and woodland bridges and furniture as your main foundation. Then you can add cottagecore colours such as soft greens and light pinks. Side note: Teddy bears add a cute touch for a cottagecore look. You can add anywhere you like to enhance your island.

Hello! I have no idea what to put in two of my areas and would like some help. One leads down from my campsite and the other is right next to my entrance and plaza.
My theme is zen/eastern and forest with some other elements mixed in if that helps.

Your map is kinda similar to mine (with RS being aligned with the airport). Let's see for forest/town feel I would suggest starting with the entrance since that makes things a bit easier imo. If you don't want to do that, figure out the big terraforming/water shapes you like. I'm personally a fan of terraforming near my entrance to make it feel more grand/closed in. So I would suggest like a main town area that will also take you to RS. You could then have stairs that lead up to houses/other parts near the entrance. Maybe this helps?

I like the neighboorhood idea but I would say only group the house in 2/3 and not lined up. This keeps it more interesting and fills more space so it's not so stiff in design. Well I think that will depend on if you want your entrance to be more towny or foresty.

Okay so here is my city one. You don't have RS in front like me but you could have a shopping strip and strairs that lead elsewhere or use terraforming to redirect the player. Let me grab my natural entrance for that one
