Pillar is called decorative pillar. As for the tiles, those are custom designs. They're made by players and you can access their designs via the machine in Able Sister's shop

Personally I love the succulents, cherry blossom branches or bonsai, and the throw pillows (can use them on any theme not just East Asian). Adding in some bushes, a tree, or some of the other potted plants is an easy way to start.

The nice thing with small items is if they don't work for you you can always replace them easily later with other small things, without it feeling like the whole area has to be redone.

Hmm I'm actually trying to do the same thing for a city with rural part and what I'm gong to go with it dirt in game pathing then use the decayed road parts to phase to dirt. You can also use bridges to do that transition but I find using more design space looks better imo Let DM post the road I'm using once I find it.

Horrible gaming also does Japanese styled city island, I don't think she does natural that much but she just release a video on YT for an island entrance that is more rural/city too if you want to check it out.

You can either move all the buildings to the beach and rework the map, use the middleman ( #request-a-middleman🛎️🙋‍♀️ ) to save 4 inventories worth of stuff for max. 2 hours while you completely restart, or if you don't mind using unrestricted methods just restart and gather everything from treasure islands.

Typically they have more than 1 animal crossing but you can also flatten your island and do it that way then not update your dream address if you still want to visit your old version of your island. If you do a complete reset you will lose everything (character, items, etc.) if you want a new map.

(my personal favourite is whatever-makes-me-happy-core figured I'd throw this out there, since due to all the content creators it can feel like you need to have a specific and strict theme for your island but in the end, you don't. Deciding that my island theme is whatever-makes-me-happy-core really helped me and made me feel less stressed and more free about island designing)
Though having a specific theme can of course also be the thing for you.

⤴️ I'm not the best at naming specific themes, but I at least for your home you could do your average home of course, an ordinary home with hints to a creepy backstory (this kind of things always intrigue me so much), castle/royal mansion (could do a custom extended exterior for this), a kindergarten, a hotel, a luxurious businessperson apartment, cozy cottage,.. the list goes on

Make sure you have lots of different species of flowers and trees placed around your island, and make sure to not jam them all in one place otherwise it might not help your ratings

Then you’re probably doing something wrong. Also, not everything will look good on the map. There’s this site called game8. They have tutorials for various different shapes. If you follow it correctly, it’ll turn out right. I tried linking the site but I can’t for some reason.

if your theme is cottagecore, try going for something similar to this. try mush furniture, replace the iron and stone fence with the log wall fence or country fence. also, use log furniture with a custom design (i prefer to use custom designs for log furniture). if you need any cottagecore themed custom designs for log furniture, you can feel free to DM me! 😊

also, instead of using stones, use clover custom designs. replace some of the black furniture for brown furniture (i.e. the rattan end table, iron garden chair, antique mini table, tiny library, terrarium, and magazine rack could be brown)
another tip, use "the path" custom designs (there are a lot of different style but the one i recommend is the one by De - Denim2_mori on Twitter) and break it apart and don't lay it out so close together for a more natural look

I wanted to make a road path throughout my island and while working on the entrance, I noticed the dock of the airport is two spaces so when I try and place the road lines, it looks really lopsided! What should I try to do?

In a dilemma. The road design with the white border works best for 3 spaces. But here, I only have 2 free spaces for it, which is why the road looks skinny.

Should I just make the road without the white border so it doesn’t look cramped?

Or should I keep the white border for the extra detail but that means I’m sacrificing a spacious looking road?

Honestly it depends.
In 200 hours I had gone through two islands (the first one I was just NOT happy with it) and the second island went through like 5 terraforming transformations and just needed the furniture which did make a little progress with no time travel (into the future)

However you go about it, I'm sure your island is beautiful now and will only grow more beautiful over time!

I’ve had my game since December 2020 and have only started working on my island within the last month because I spent much time getting villagers and doing other things. Personally I don’t count the hours because it fluctuates based on how busy I am with school
