You can use irl photos/art and paste + crop them into the game with acpatterns.com, turn them in qr codes, scan them in using the Nintendo Switch Online Mobile app, and import them into your game

U need to make it so they cannot spawn ANYWHERE besides where u want them to, then when they respawn after being broke they will go where u want em, pathways and items, mannequins ect will block their spawns

To make water falls u need a 3 star island so u can make cliffs and water, and then combine em

Try mix and matching different kinds of fences and adding items such as a scarecrow, wheelbarrow or pile of leaves. You can also break up the fences with some trees, or even put a leftover stump somewhere. Given how much path you have, you could put little row markers (wooden shop signs) with custom designs to indicate which veggie grows were. There's a lot of good designs out there if you search on the internet!

i would suggest looking at other people's maps. if you go on youtube and look up animal crossing tours, they always show the map at the start of the tour. if you have an idea of what theme you want, i can recommend some

like I could just randomly draw a map on the island designer https://eugeneration.github.io/HappyIslandDesigner/, but it may or may not look good when you're walking around the island itself. its meant for large designs, and then once you're actually terraforming you would have to iterate to see what looks good

You need to start with something you want to portray on your island. Could be an aesthetic you like, a culture/community/fandom you enjoy, something from your past memories or future aspirations, or a nod to something in your current life.

I think it depends on how large of a yard you want to give yourself for your house. Maybe you can have it run to the back of your house, I think that might look nice. Otherwise if you want to try and give yourself space and go for something easier you can just have it connect to the other opening on the left side up top. Ultimately it’s up to you what you decide to do!

So I'm still flattening my island, but I have enough room to start blocking out some ideas. I want my main theme to go in a direction that suggests the islanders follow a nature religion, but not have anyone think it's any real world religion/culture in particular (cough shinto). Rustic or rural village vibes, lots of nature, shrines and ruins and mystical oddities to imply the presence of otherworldly spirits, stuff like that.

A tip for people like me who struggle starting with a blank slate: sketch some ideas on paper first, even if you don't think you're good at drawing! It can help a ton with terraforming too.

I’m redoing my “Pokémon Trainer School”. It’s significantly smaller than what I had before. I realized that I didn’t like how much space it took up originally, and I didn’t really like the colors used before. Anyways, should those wide display cases (except the middle one) be black or should I keep them white? Yes because it makes designing easier. I also suggest placing villager houses on the beaches too. All of them won’t fit though. The less houses on land the better imo.

when starting out, i highly recommend you to not worry about a theme yet. hear me out, you have quite a number of tasks you need to do before unlocking terraforming (a.k.a. island designer) and begin a island theme. even though you're looking at themes now, you may not want that theme in the future. i.e. i wanted a pink themed island at first, now, i'm shooting for a european style island.

another thing i want to mention is that island themes take a LOT of work/hours to make it well, perfect. many DA's (dream addresses) take hours to complete. but, if you can do, i say go for it! 😊

yes! fairycore: keep it pastel (mainly pink & purple) with hints of flowers and chairs (highly recommend the cresent moon chair)
cottagecore: keep it tranquil & calm with a peaceful vibe. use colors like olive green, brown, and white. plant some cedar trees (use a little bit of sapling trees/hardwood trees to kinda even it out). use mush furniture! if anything is cottagecore theme in the game, it's definitely the mush furniture.

When I’m alternating with hedges I usually do two hedges between fencing. But it’s up to you. I personally like the greenery especially if it’s goi by to be surrounded by items

Right now I’m kinda stuck on where to go with my island. Back in December I flattened it but didn’t have the motivation to start on it until about 2 weeks ago. I didn’t start from the front nor the back, I made little terraformed cliff and small ponds separately for each building and now I’m struggling vastly to connect them all. I regret flattening it but love my villagers and don’t wanna restart and get rid of them. One option is I could move my villagers all onto my friends island who dosent play and then move them back to my new one later I just don’t know if it’s worth it

Hey, so I want some help it’s island design. I thought of doing something inspired by Solace (https://www.reddit.com/r/AnimalCrossing/comments/ha9r2l/been_reluctant_to_post_my_island_for_months_it_is/), but I felt like I would be copying it more than inspired by it. So, since I’m bad at natural design I wanted to make my map sort of geometrical. My town name is Lunaria so I wanted to make it moonish, and I made this but I’m unsure where to go. I was gonna make little moons on all four corners but I’m not sure if that’ll be good. Can anyone give suggestions on how I should fill all the empty space, or if you think I should change the moon in the center? I plan on putting a park and the shops there, with a residential area somewhere nearby. The plaza is also in an inconvenient spot, so idk how to work around that.

I think it’s cute if you display clothes that fit the theme of your island outside of ables. You can also add a over grown sewing area next to it as well. You can also keep it simple with just a picnic area or a little eating area. I hope this helps!

I really like what you have done! For a more city core look, you should make it look a bit like a dirty alleyway? So anything like trash bags, trash cans, cardboard boxes and maybe even iron bars would look good there. I would also recommend cars but it might be hard to get around on the street.
