I think the best gothcore islands are those that manage to use colors in some way. Obviously not any big amounts but some deep red (rose, pansy) or white (lily of the valley or hyacinths) to mix up the black and purple can look great.

That cloud pattern has got to be replaced, first and foremost. It's too "busy" and distracts from everything else in the area.

Try something more "quiet," like stone. Also, you should try mixing in a bit of grass around the Kerokero bridge.

@leaden rampart Speaking of the Kerokeroppi stuff, do you have access to all of those items? If so, the Kerokeroppi screen/wall thing would work well in that area! You could use it in place of some of the face standees and/or fencing (especially the fencing behind the stands).

town center has town hall and the square on an island, and shops on the sides and front

Ohh ok. I tend to do more natural areas, so I'd just scatter some bushes, flowers, maybe a garden rock, and then intersperse some leaf or clover custom design patterns. Cottagecore people tend to do something similar, but they also add in their usual cottagecore furniture

but really, it’s kinda just trial and error. you don’t even really need a whole universal theme, you just see it a lot on popular posts. make your island whichever way makes you happy. if you want to have a cottagecore section next to a horror section next to a kids section, knock yourself out! or just combine all three into a cottage-horror-kid section

with no personal experience, i’d maybe suggest getting rid of the rivers and terraforming in the mountains however you like them, then going back in and adding rivers where it feels natural. if the mountain is the main feature, focus on that first

i would say perhaps the leaf piles need a little rearranging ?? having the. in the same place can feel too planned if that makes sense. the key to cozy spaces is making things look strewn about / random , like how they would be if someone actually raked up leaves into a pile!!

i highly highly suggest marking out the area you want as a yard with a blank custom design to easily mark out tiles. i saw some in #path-codes or #misc-pattern-codes recently, but if you just fill the design area with a single color and erase the outside edge, you can pretty easily do it yourself. i also recommend using a second color to mark out where the house will go. i’m a very visual person so it helped me a lot!

Oh cool! Ill give you some tips on what I did then :3 I recommend a more open area so you can include trees, as thats a big part of cottagecore. Furniture wise, I recommend a stool with a hyacinth or some other flower on it. Log benches would look lovely and mushroom items like mushroom stool would look nice as decoration
