#island-designs

Since this regards designing a section on my island I think here is the right place. Anyways does anyone know how close to the edge of "buildable" area can rocks go? I know they need space around them etc. But I'm debating moving a rock farm near the edge of my island (NOT ON SAND) but it would be 1 tile then a rock. Would this work or should I play it safe?
Can I see some exterior museum set ups?
I need ideas for an area for the houses in my city
I have my rocks one tile away from a cliff so I think you’re good
Playground 🥺💜 should I move zucker’s house and move the playground there?
You are amazing! Thank you. Now to rock moving
I did like half of my island and now I'm not sure how to remodel
I love that design!
I think I’m happy with my entrance? I haven’t got any shrubs yet so I don’t have any to put but I think it’s cute!
That’s so pretty 😌🤚
Thank you so much 🥺🥺
Mine has 2 cliffs next to it and a path leading to my unfortunate placing of resident services. Plus when it comes to decorating things like in animal crossing or Minecraft I just- suck 😭😂. But yours is so aesthetically pleasing! I love it 🥰
My current island planning progress! Let me know what you think!
so i have this area and i want to fit a villagers house, small apothecary and a greenhouse but i don’t know where to put them all to fit, make sense and flow nicely in this area! any help would be greatly appreciated!! ☺️
I couldn’t fit everything in here but I think this looks nice for a spooky section of my island.
It looks so good
I’m planning on making city street “buildings” and am stuck on what to make these 3, any ideas? I was thinking of using NPCs (listed what I could think of, probably more) but I don’t know which
Anyone have ideas for decor in front of a house? I’m stumped mine looks terrible
What do you think of this for an area to have an incline to the second level?
You can even hop across the center cliff for an alternate way
Love cliff jumping, and Im a big fan of how natural that layout looks
Wheres the ramp gonna be, over there on the left?
But... I don't know if the incline would flow well with the neighborhood here... you'd have to make a uturn
Yeah, in the little dugout part
I would suggest moving it one tile to the left so theres more room down below, otherwise great idea
Yeah thats a tight fit between the corner and the "island"
Yeah the other one looks better
My other idea
I cant believe that works lol
Skip making it accessible from the first level at all
How?
You don't need cliff walls around your inclines
So you could have, a sheer cliff like this lined with trees if you wanted
Kinda feels like they were planning on fixing it but forgot, and by the time they caught it the damage had been done
Yeah lol it looks a little wonky huh
Hmm, no space for trees there though
Initially I thought of putting a cliff tree or something
I need inspiration for my house exterior decor
That’s so simple but so cute I love it
I’m thinking of using all of this land for a small farm in the future when the update comes out. The pumpkin patch will be smaller. Any suggestion on what kind of setup or fencing I should use?
Country fencing is cute
Beautiful
hello, just wondering some kind of help gathering ideas of a entrance of rural Japanese theme
currently renovating my island, this is what i have so far! still got a lot to move
also my dream address is there in case u wanna visit my old design :))
Any ideas? I'm stumped
enclose the whole area in bookcases, instead of spooky fence, more of a cozy vibe!
Made a cute pebble path design
what should i put in this are of my forest?
nice!
Maybe a little park? Some flowers in the left and a bench with cherry trees
can i even get cherry trees at this time of year?
OH WAIT
nvm lolll
i thougjt you meant cherry BLOSSOM
Oh- XD
Does anyone wanna share the map of their island? I'm bad at placing cliffs in an interesting way
😭
2 hills with flowers on top so you walk through it for the view
I need some opinions on this. Im thinking of making a museum themed restaurant in that little "pit" since its next to my museum. 1 problem i see its that its too small for a restaurant and another that maybe it doesnt fit to make a restaurant there. But tell me what you think
This area of my island feels super bland. Not sure what to put here to make it feel more full??
Maybe a fossil
maybe a cafe or bakery? kinda like this? (not my photo)
What do you all think of my Mario themed playground? When 2.0 is out I want to put a ladder setup kit so you can climb up to press the flag like an actual mario course!🥰
Love how it turned out thanks for the idea!
I ended up putting a food truck! :D
i love that idea it looks great!
Thank you! :D
I'm thinking of putting these 2 houses next to each other. Does anyone know of any furniture that would have a green-ish / turquoise-ish shade similar to this one?
Could i see the island of someone who haves this map.i need some insperaton i have the same island map. if you have the same map write me privatly
Hii, do you have any ideas for stores or buildings i could put in a city center ? I would like a warm city center, small town style. I use player houses
So I am completely stumped and would like some idea for what I could do with my island- I am not sure how to go about things ;v; this is my map currently and I am not up to terraforming yet but I want to start working on it
@rotund sparrow about plants/flowers, Forsythia maybe ?
Alright so. I need some feedback.
A good fifth or more of my island is one gigantic forest. I’m debating knocking all of it down and remaking it all one one cliff level higher.
This will allow me to give it the redesign it needs by starting fresh and allow me to add depth with gorges and such. The cons of the idea are that it could end up not looking good, could screw up some transitions, and idk if I have the motivation for that.
What do y’all think?
@dusk wagon Check out Tropkitch on twitter they have tons of shop designs. I've also seen a few other designs for Target, Panera, and some ACNH related shops (Redd's Arcade).
Here is my kidcore nooks crany and kidcore able sisters
Ooh, I love these!
thank you! : )
this beautiful shot was taken by a dear friend of mine
i loved how the sun aligned with the wedding bell so much
Hmm I might try that, thanks
Im flattening my island for the first time to actual decorate it wel does anyone have any good theme ideas?
You could do an urban city or Japanese city. If you want to be original then maybe create your island based off a show you like.
I don't think Daisy Mae likes my farm WIP, she keeps trampling my pumpkins ;A;
Does anybody have any tips or ideas what I could do here on this space? I would love to incorporate the river somehow but its not a must. I have been struggling with this for a few days now and still can't figure out what to do with it 🙄
@stoic pasture A pond up top would be cute since it would be like a little park/natural area.
I'm a sucker for a cute duck pond. But if you want something different would could set it up for seasonal decor on the water with some benches facing it if that makes sense
She is just inspecting the soil, don't you worry.
She is a professional!
I’m a sucker for a little riverside cafe type area with the iron garden furniture (I think white is super classic), fountain, and maybe the wishing well. Oh and ducks are always great to have around water spots
You could align some stepping stones and add butterfly/fish models along them.
Thank you so much for your ideas! I am gonna try to make some river and a little pond in that area and add some park features to see how it looks :)
I have a question but I’m not sure where I should put it, I downloaded a flower meadow path that is lovely in the images but when I lay it out it looks blocky and unnatural, how can I make it look natural? Are there tutorials for doing this?
Does anyone know of any custom designs for the upcoming crops? I was looking for ones that would be good to put onto a plain wooden shop sign?
I mean lol my farm is a animal farm deff not happy with it but have no space
it looks nice : )
I have no idea what to put here, other than flowers! the other side has bamboo and a rock, so I'm not entirely sure what to put on this side
Bring it the lowest level perhaps? Have the water cut through the cliffs
hello! i wanted to ask if anyone had a map with a heart shaped river. i've see one recently but lost the screenshot, if anyone has it please tell me
okay everyone im back today for inspo for villager yards:) here’s who i’m working with! it can be based around the villagers or just an aesthetic, my island is cottagecore !
Anyone have some overgrown/Gothic entrance ideas? I wanna have statues too
I don't like my campsite here anymore, any ideas what to put in this spot instead
Cafe
It's a bit too tiny for me to squeeze a cafe there :( but thanks
I made the river go on the ground level a few tiles to the left and then i brought it up to the first level and put a waterfall. I am still working on it though but thank you 😄
do you know who made that path? its so cute !!
also you could do a little picnic spot maybe?
tysm! your island is very cute btw :)
Need opinions to make this map work. Redoing the layout and want it symmetrical. Any ideas?
My most recent build - a castle!! Nook Castle
Would anyone like to come help me decorate my island, I'm dead on ideas
Haunted Art Gallery! You can see every piece of haunted art both from the front and the back, alongside their real counterpart. Yeah, the Academic Painting is not actually haunted, but the key on its back is strange enough for me to include it here :3
This is my campsite & nooks cranny before decorating/adding paths. Needing some inspo what does everyone’s look like?
Awesome looking, let me log on and show you mine.
Love this idea, it’s super unique!😊
I have never designed an island before, idk what to do
If you need help DM me
This is how I made mine! I didn't have that much space, but maybe it still helps :3
This is my map. Where do i start? Ive heard to just lay out where you want stuff to be but tbh i cant even choose that. Like, how do i know
Cute! Love how the fortune cookie cart matches the shop!
I love the flags
You cannot move the location of your Service Center and the airport, so it's good to start with designing the area around those! What do you want to surround the Service Center with, for instance?
It is also just a good idea to take all the items that make you happy and to use them somehow. Your island doesn't have to look like anyone elses, it has to make yourself happy
Im just scared itll be ugly. I dont want to be in debt forever
No island is ugly! It is normal to not be happy with it from the beginning, just continue decorating until eventually, you are!
My island took about one entire year to look "good", and I am still working on it, so don't be intimidated just because it isn't perfect immediately
Another problem, im indecisive on the theme. I know i want only one theme but i want to follow my switches seasons, so i cant really stick with a seasonal theme
My island took a year to look decent I'd say it looks good now
Here’s my map and a picture of the entrance if that helps. I recommend starting on your entrance/front of your island as its the first thing people will see and it helps to have somewhere to start so you can avoid getting overwhelmed.
Why is this so hard 😭
Im an artist, i thought id have a little bit of a head start on this but nope
That looks really cute alushi
Oh that reminds me! I use my drawing app to sketch out ideas for terraforming before I do it on my actual map to see if I’d like it!
Thats a good idea
You can just take a screenshot of your map and draw over top of it and just mess around with it until your happy! 😊
I plan out all my stuff, like this cafe I'm building rn
Landbridge / pathway to my house.
Still a WIP

Cute! can’t wait to see the cafe 🙂
It's about done, I'd love to invite you to my island when it's done!
Yes please I’d love to see!
Anyone have an idea of something I could make in this small spot? I tried a outdoor movie theatre but there wasn’t enough room.. 😞
Little camp ground
could add a fountain or some garden lamps to give it a town square-ish feel
ooh that’s actually a really good idea!
Maybe even a reading area
Been prepping the museum for Brewster and more traffic
added some waterfalls near my bakery
Does anyone have any small orchards? I am looking at making a farm area for the new crops by the villagers neighbourhood and want to have the 5 fruit trees in somehow
i do!
it could take me bit to get the pic tho
That is okay ☺️ anything will help
@pseudo wigeon
I love the signs! Thank you so much!!! That helps
you're welcome! try looking at other examples, it'll help more than mine
I may google some as well as for some reason never thought of that but your did help
Found this on Reddit. (not mine) Putting the tree’s in a circle shape is really cute and it can fit into smaller spaces! 😁
Thank you so much! I need to find the DIY for that arch! It is so adorable 🥰
what can i put here?
also woah thats really good
Does anyone have any double south river moulth island maps i could see? I need ideas!
Ima say it one more time... A cafe
If it is by your farm/orchard area can have a fruit/veggie stall market?
I'm addicted to cafes
both really good ideas tbh
I've upgraded my cafe to a restaurant
Oooo a cafe with the fruit furniture haha
even better :o
fruit/flower themed cafe, through fruit is probably better
maybe a tiny marketplace? If you don’t like the cafe idea
im probably gonna mesh all of these into one fruit themed marketplace tbh
nice
i love the suggestions
Glad we could help
I’m so glad I checked the finger bc I almost flipped you off-
Yard Ideas for Raymond cause he's my beloved <33
That would have been hilarious!
A mini library sitting area? With a fireplace depending on the size
put him in jail 😈
in all seriousness tho, i think u could use some elegant looking furniture since he is a smug villager and they tend to be pretty associated with fancy-ish furnishing and such
and this
You could give him one of those cute outdoor swinging benches (I forget the actual name, lol) and some flowers
finally finished this area 😩
probably gonna add a bit more soon but for now its at the bottom of my list of priorities
I need ideas for a town layout T^T I flatten my island so I can re design it
This is my town layout don’t know if it helps
Gorgeous island thanks for the picture I will see if I get any ideas
I am flattened my island so it is not complete at all lol just did my villager area and top left that is it
If it helps my island is Modern cottage core in a way but more floral and pink lol
It quite a good idea
My island will be a mix of kidcore/Celeste items/carnival haha 😆
Thank you!
And I meant ‘original’ island map layout. Lol.
I assumed 🥰
I thought of putting Anka in the corner my island as like a little oasis with desert items
I got a pyramid for her
Anyone have a link/youtube/dream code for junglecore?
That is so cute! With the sand path?
Yea and I got blue and gold roses for her garden
It be in the top right corner a little path to a sandy cove but it an idea
Love the idea can’t wait to see it
I redid a few of my areas, the Able Sisters now display Labelles collection, in the beekeping area with all the flowers in the game I planted some fruit trees, and I turned the rock garden in front of the museum into a little cafe seating area, in preparation for Brewsters arrival ^^
Some new areas on my beaches, dedicated to specific villagers and cultures
Finally terra formed section d2 to my liking i think. Its gonna be a mountain fully of rivers and waterfalls. Kinda like fountain of life for the island. What do we think?
It looks really pretty and it is an amazing idea!
Thankss i hope there will be another fountain with the new update that helps the idea
Otherwise shell fountain for sure
Just some snippets of town
Any idea what I could do here? ;3;
Instincts tell me there should be food stalls.
But there are probably a lot of better options.
Cafe/sitting area?
Why do we only have one angled furniture
Owww will see what I can do!
You tell me.
Or flower stalls!
Just one stall with flowers around it and the on the left an right white iron garden chairs and tables
Would be sooooo cute.
Maybe a turkey day stand in there too.
Benches?
Damn im gonna do this myself.
The wagon! Yes!!! Loving it
You better.
Thats such a good idea 😂
Might share the result later
Send it in a chat to me too. I need to go but def wanna see the result!
Will do ☺️
Also im thinking now. About the stalls. Because like me i had this ugly spot i never knew what to do with it. But those are 2 spots next to a bridge. Left im gonna do flowers
But how about right a fruit stall with the boxes of the fruits with the fruit on top
Would that work ya think?
Next to a bridge it’s gonna be so adorbs!
Oh yes! Wait I’ve also seen a stall with honey 🍯 related items!
It was SO CUTE!!!!
Ooh hes i already have that in the back on the brasserie
A quick tour with my island project
1 honeystall, 1 lemonade stall, and 1 voodoo stall 🎃🎃
Layout on point I’m jelly!
Loving it
Especially the plaza entrance
Feels like a real whatsicalled place where you do your stuff for the city
Designing each area throughly one at a time
Nice
Dose anyone know what bridge possibly goes best with this type of fence
Hhh, can't wait to unlock terraforming for my island.
So many things I want to do like a genuine farm area with little rivers.
Forest-y farmcore island with tons of dynamic layers.
@rancid epoch the restaurant is done!
Only if I could costumize bridge colors but maybe it will be worth it
awesome I’ll message u!
Probably the red Japanese one
Kinda on theme
Yeah but I’m possibly not going for a Japanese theme it’s mostly for a villager house
Regular zen or the flat wooden one
Planning a carnival or farm is ending up being tough without the items haha
What villager?
I second this. Would pick the flat one.
Brb ima check both of them
quick question: what areas do ya'll usually put around resident services?
Wdym?
like do you put the neighborhood, pumpkin patch, etc. around there?
I have lots of waterfalls and some villagers houses surrounding my rs!
Maybe path roads and fencing or ^^^
ahh, ok thank you!
both shops behind it. Entrance area to the right. have not decided on the left yet. i had the museum there but moved it.
Hmmmm
here’s a picture of my map around resident services ^^
Does anyone know how many crops there will be? I started to plan out my farm but don’t know how many plots
I personally like the zen bridge better ☺️
tysm!
I like the zen bridge myself as well I use it
One is cheaper one costs more and like great
My map is just going to be brown
i think there was 5 shown in the video?
Zen it is
Hmm…I may need redo the area but will wait for the update…I don’t know how to make a farm haha
But I finished my carnival tent!
That's so cute
wow that’s amazing!!
woahhhh!
I get to do this fun thing called ⭐clearing out an area⭐
oh no!
I have all this custom pathing on my island that I spent time on and it looks nice, I like the windy-ness of it. But I also want to go completely to in-game paths because foot sounds and other reasons. I would hate to replace all my paths and then find out I hate it. I’m indecisive. :((
that’s the worst
Does anyone know any moss/rock like pathing?
or #path-codes?
I’m suffering
I am the same way! Though I am using “the path” so can’t place the ingame paths
I did the shop area to the right and the museum to the left!
I have to time travel now…. I don’t like doing that-
wow that looks so nice!
Nintendo after making games difficult
Your island is a beauty
Mind if I steal your water around plaza idea?
Amazing!
that is soo cute
Thanks 😊
2060
traveling to the 2060’s to make another bridge
It's a great way to quickly fill space! You can leave little "islands" in your rivers and place items on them, such as flowers, for example!
this thing that is coming in the update would look really good in that area
Right! Once seeing all the items I HAD to do a carnival
i did one too! but i made it more like those flea markets that has like rides and stuff, so im waiting for the new ferris wheel and merry go around
I'm so excited to see your island with all the new items! A carnival is such a good idea... Did you choose your villagers to fit the theme of carnival?
im trying not to decorate too much with all the new items coming, because i know i will go around and change my whole island
I will be 100% right now it is just my beginners
What should I put here?
Same I am doing little things here and there because I know I will change it too
Same, I’m only clearing out spaces that I was iffy about before but too lazy to take down.
I really really wish there was in-game diagonal pathing
Let us hope that is one of the features added in the new update
This is my island layout so far. I plan to add a natural beachy cafe in front of the shops. Then, I'll be redoing the museum area, most likely moving it, and adding a fresh food market, digsite type of area or maybe even a sort of island fair!
yeah same because im placing down in game path under my custom design path to make it visible on the map since i'm doing citycore, and i wanna build a diagonal bridge so it will be really trippy with doing that
I would love diagonal pathing for diagonal bridges! Main reason I went with the path
It's so hard to decide with the update coming..!
i loveee the path, i have used it on a lot of my islands, but most of my islands i ended up resetting before being done lol
I’m just tired of kicking away my paths. And after going to some dream addresses with just the in game pathing and the little foot noises are just
here's an example from my old jungle island
Oooh! I like it!
thank youu it's honestly one of the only islands i've been really happy with, regret resetting it before finishing it
that was in kind of an early state of it too
I’m so tempted to reset my island. Ugh.
same but i have like 70k miles now saved up for the update and if i did reset i couldn't honestly be bothered to get the art section of the museum again
My beach gym, my own layout. Very happy with how this turned out, I hate decorating beaches 😂
omggg i love that
i have never ever even tried to decorate the beaches
I only started decorating the beaches when I was done with the rest, I used the space for builds that didn't fit on the rest of the island!
jesuss ur island seems so filled up! isn't it really laggy?
im prob gonna decorate the beaches at the end too, i still gotta do the right ride of my island (on the lower part) and then start building my upper part of my island since i finished flattening it today
It doesn't really lag for me during normal gameplay, I don't know if that's different for People visiting, but I never encountered lag (other than some items needing half a second to load)
Thank you!! I do a section at a time for my island but it’s a nice change to decorate a part of the beach
i built this yesterday and i'm thinking of making tangy a orange juice shop behind it but i don't want it to be too close so it doesn't get blocked
the build was heavily inspired by horriblegaming btw lol
Updated I have to make a bunch of layout changes (and I got a villager I really liked on accident-)
so i cant decide if i want the haunted forest to be on a second or third level, what do you guys think?
I’m noooooowhere to be done but I’m happy I could work on the back area 🤣🤣 that’s what happen most of the time, you just focus on everything but what u should be working on

i want the orchard on a second level and then the farm on the 3rd but idk about the forest
i COULD also put the haunted forest right at the opening to my island and move the orchard n farm to the other side of the river
Feel like the haunted forest should house something valuable like golden roses
I like the idea of a haunted forest at the entrance!
Looks great
Marshal's place
Just finished the main center of the island with a beautiful fountain park with benches all around.
Anyone got any ideas for my island theme and name? I restarted
I was thinking of placing a pentagram for Halloween. Does anyone have any design codes for such a thing?
I’m working on my village rn idk if it’s going well
I think it looks awesome!
still looking for those patch looking paths
the ones that look like grass is missing from the ground
Looking for an urban campsite, does anyone have anything like that? I don't find any good inspiration
Just thought I would share this
😡
what should i put here?
progress
I want a jungle themed Island, does anyone have any tips? Like paths, colours, videos, pictures, entrance ideas, etc. Anything would help!
Go on twitch they have treasure islands where you can get palm trees and other jungle themed stuff you can also search for some designs on Pinterest
I have plenty of palm trees as I originally started on a tropical themed Island, thanks for the tips anyway!
no problem haha but the treasure islands I usually look for are the furniture ones just an fyi
this was my entrance
i only finished like 40% or so on my jungle island before restarting which i regret but i have the DA for it if you wanna visit
Ahhh thanks! I want the feel of my Island to be more of an abandoned/long lost civilization in history that lived in the jungle. I hope that makes sense, basically I want an abandoned jungle feel with hints that a civilisation used to live there
so im in the process of flattening my island, as well as trying to map out my new island but i have no idea how to continue aside from linking the two water passages from the island together to make the themes and perspective illusions of some ideas i wanted to do work together. does anyone want to help me out?
I would love to have the DA
ill dm u it so it doesnt get lost in this chat
Thanks 👍
Looking back at my old island not everything was perfect, but this view was still p gud
Uhm, just happened to notice that shrine to zipper.. Are you okay? Is Zipper forcing you to do this?
don't worry about, he can't hurt me anymore on my new island
I LOVe it I’m gonna start CRYING 😭
RHis is better than my entrance
How does this area of my island look so far? I changed it up today, but not sure if I actually like it or not. My island is a small town/city with some elegant areas. I might get rid of some of the garden lanterns
thank youuu it was actually one of the islands i regret resetting before finishing
gorgeous!!
I’ve been working on this a while ago
I’m so in love with it!!
I love it 😭
Y’all too good at this
thats pretty!!
thank y'all sm ya'll are so nice
Thanks
I like how I planned it although it looks so generic
i honestly kinda lost my skills for terraforming since i'm not doing so much natural terraforming on my current island
i'm doing city core but i'm loving it
City core sounds nice omg
citycore is rly nice
cottagecore is nice! people say it's overrated but, there are so many gorgeous cottagecore islands soo
i feel like cottagecore really has the potential to be really nice and just beautiful in general
u can also mesh like fairycore and stuff like that with it too
yeahh and forestcore
mhm
rn i'm honestly just waiting for the update to fill up my island with furniture because there is so much new furniture coming and i don't wanna go around and change everything up later
my island is pretty desolate atm anyways lmao
same, i've been mostly doing buildings with simple panels since i can't really change them up later anyway
and like base of builds that i will add furniture to later
i wanna build my neighborhood next but i need inspiration for it
Hello hello im new i hope someone can help me, i wanna do cottagecore island but i dont know much and i dont know design map 😞
my island before and after changing aesthetics lol. the bottom is my current (new) one! i went from wanting everything completely symmetrical on a grid to redesigning it into a foresty, chaotic but cozy cottagecore thing
with my island it feels like some areas are really bustling and feel alive, but others are just empty and nonexistent lol
same there are things i wanna redo on my island
i built a school on my island and its really really ugly
i'm gonna redo it into something else
for me the "empty" areas are usually transition areas, i like the areas i have but leading up to them is usually just

I'm doing citycore too lol
Anybody else have a double south river moulth island?
Yep I do
Hey. I need some help designing my island a lot. I am setting up for my husband and I to live there and I want to have my island done before he visits it. I have pictures of the places I need help with.
I need help restarting my island! mine has went to complete dump! i dont know how to do anything.
Can I see what everyone’s housing neighborhoods like like? I typically theme a bunch of items around a villagers house but I think I want something different
I do! My island doesn't have particular theme, but one side is done, middle is done, and the last side is getting some finishing touches!
I don't have a "neighborhood". But my villagers are paired up with shared yards.
Ooh I like that!
It gives me room for interesting areas all over my island and vista-like points near their homes.
Like Chrissy and Francine have a huge rose garden to their right with access to the Japanese spa to their left.
same
Do you have a picture of one?
i still need a shit ton of flowers
Let me grab a picture!
🥰 ty!!!
Sure!
awesome tysm!
It’s so pretty!!!
So, this is to the left of Goldie and Cherry's homes.
i love it omg
i have the same kind of japanese spa behind three of my villager homes; as well as a little fountain next to it with a public bench and garden lanterns. probably gonna add more flowers or somethin to spice it up a little.
This garden is to the left above my house.
i could send a picture since the fountain area is still a work in progress, and i need help with it
I'm going to be fixing the rivers so they look more natural and not so straight. But the left I'm very happy with!
I love that!
Oooh, nice!
im really bad with making rivers look natural, im still working on that. i dont know if i wanna keep at it though since i want my island to have a sort of developed neighborhood kind of feel, and those usually lack some of the natural feels others might have.
But yeah, my villagers are fairly spread out with connected yards that have their hobby and themed items!
I like the idea of an organized settlement built along the natural landscape, so I straightened rivers then terraformed them.
Still a WIP!
I don’t even know what aesthetic I want yet. I love them all lol
But some straight rivers are okay to me. xD
imo thats the worst phase of island creation lol
I have a bit of everything, honestly!
sort of what i want too
No strict theme, just what flows.
I just need to unlock terraforming! I restarted like two days ago
hey guys! if anyone can help me build my island more bc it’s kinda bland and i need to add more 😭😭 pls message thank youuu
Show me please!!😍
Omg! I love jt
Audie’s new patio
Hey would anyone be able/willing to reply to this with images of junglecore home entrances? I’ve been looking on google images for like an hour to find a picture I saw awhile back but can’t seem to find it. It was like, the players house is at the end of a custom “bridge” and there’s waterfalls to the left and right of the house that cascade down.
could the Miarain home entrance be what you're talking about?
there are many tours of it on youtube
Damn you guys are so good at these island designs
Have you been playing since gamecube?
Making decent progress on my island! Trying to do a fall/starry theme
hey, i like, really suck at designing stuff in AC:NH, so if i could get some help, that would be awsome.
Been asking lol
yes, yes i have been
No I was saying I have been asking for months on every server I could
Not a single ping, or dm
ooooooooooooooh
Honestly just kinda get creative and do whatever you want. It’s a fairly open game once you get past the start. You can also search up design tips/tricks. You don’t have to, but you could come up with a theme and try to do that as well. However it is a long process (gathering materials, diys, planning, etc) but it’s supposed to be a long term game
But like what if we aren't a person that understands what to do or to be creative
What if we need instructions?
You could get inspo from vids/pictures idrk
Welllllll
You see I kinda need to see the map so I can understand what is going on
I do better designing in small spaces but bigger spaces I get really overwhelmed. I got some spaces I got inspired by but now the big gaps have nothing and I don't know what to do with it that won't disrupt the flow I have going with it.
And they have a habit of NEVER showing it
i ike themes in different segments on my island, right now, im working on a sand park, using sand paths and wooden paths. i just need to find the right items, and the right areas right now.
but thank you
also, i dont like searching up tips/tricks because i wanna do it myself instead of asking someone else how to do it. like a real man.
i may be asking for help now, but im not asking you to do the whole test for me.
nontheless, this was helpfull, thank you kind stranger
I literally just want someone to slap me around and abuse me while telling me what to do with my island
Can we get pictures of the places so we can get a better idea of how to help?
Suggestions: (but you don’t have to)
1)go visit dream addresses and view their maps on the phone
2) plan your island out on a piece of paper or digitally
3) think of things you want in your island for sure and start there, you may get ideas along the way
Also I don’t think showing my island and map will help much because I’m clearing everything for prep to start the real thing
Ohhhhhhhhhhh, visiting dream addresses is actually a really good idea!
I didn't even think of doing that.
huh.
i dont have NSO lol
Yeah I actually got my whole island inspo from a few DA’s I saw in videos. For me atleast it’s a great way to find ideas (just don’t directly copy them)
Oh of course! I am just trying to fill the empty gaps in the island and make it a cluttered forest like place so visiting some cottagecore DAs would be a perfect thing. Do you know any good ones if I may ask? If not it'd chill!!
I do not, sorry! Just started playing again. But you could try searching up “acnh visiting cottage core DA’s” or something along those lines
Watching YouTube walk through Dream Addresses are everywhere. Fail boat visits some fun meme ones and SimplyPressStart goes through some really pretty islands.
Got it thank you! Gonna do that now. This will be the first time I'll be visiting DAs ajdjjd
I am setting up my island before my husband comes to visit. I got a lot of time but still sjfjd
I hope you get good ideas!
Thank you!!
oh yeah...
It's up to you but those are available!!
Does anyone have a screenshot of the village layout ideas
New entrance :D if anyone has any ideas for more furniture I could put please let me know! I want to get some cherry blossom piles
Do ya'll mind reacting with a "checkmark" to whichever of the below two pictures you like better? I can't decide which one I prefer. They're both from the same area of my island (I tore down most of one to make the other - you might notice that most of the trees in the upper right corner are similar).
EDIT: rip the votes are at 12 and 13 right now lol. I might try using some more interesting flowers for one build and see if that can get people preferring one build over the other.
almost done moving my museum. really like how it turned out
oo pretty! i'd recommend place fences (iron-and-stone fencing comes to mind) alongside the bottom by the edge of the beach/airport rocks!
as for furniture, maybe two phone boxes next to each other by the chairs to really sell the "just arrived" vibe it has ^^
Does anyone have any tips for dealing with that dead space behind resident services? The building is so tall that I feel like nothing can go there
hmm, well people like to terraform some cliffs/waterfalls behind it which usually ends up looking good!
I like to have a second or third level there. I agree, though, generally it's pretty hard to decorate the 3-4 spaces behind it because it's so hard to see there. It'd also be a good area to just have an alleyway/street if you're short on space and need more walkable paths.
im hiding my rocket there so i can change outfit ouside without the stupid wands
Yeah ig my fear with cliffs is I don’t want to extend it down that far (mine is really low down on my island) or have the space that I can’t use with a blank cliff
Lol nice! I made a little dressing room outside ables so I can do that
I wish it wasn’t so awkward to walk off the back of it either. Those street lamps
Tysm all the feedback really does help! :D
I have a waterfall that looks like an n & you can stand in the middle of it
I'm trying to make a layout for my island and I'm kinda stuck here
I like how the village and resident services are but I'm not sure about the shops and museum
I also wanna try to make those mountains that look natural with flowers and waterfalls
also is there a better design for an entrance? like one's with a fountain in the middle
First attempt at doing an island design for someone and I hit everything on their list…Am I doing this right? Going to go over it again in much greater detail with paths etc. but hit me with a thumbs up if this passes. DM me if it’s trash
I worked on my rock garden today. This is the result so far. I decided to change the pathing I had at first. It’s not completely done though. I want to try out the new fencing that comes with the update so yeah.
Tried keeping as much of the natural terrain as I could in the front of my island
Few more pics : D
Can someone help me figure out a good layout for my island? I dont really know what I'm doing. We can talk in dms. And I can show you my current layout. I have to move flowers all over the place too
Some pictures of the two brachiosauri behind my Service Center!
This is what I have currently, very basic and unsure on what else to do honestly. I want most of it to stay fairly natural when it comes to inclines for now.
Redid Zucker and Raymond’s neighborhood
What might help is to open the picture of your map on a drawing app and to just draw some paths on the map!
That way, you can try out some ideas, and if you like them, you can recreate it on your actual map ingame!
this is so pretty! i wish the villagers can go take a seat on the chair
Anyone have any grand island entrances I’m looking for some inspo
Any idea what to throw behind the bench and phone booth?
Or should I just....
Or...
first ones good
1
i'd add changing rooms, stalls and some posters to make it also seem like an outdoor shopping area
Outdoor shopping? Nice concept but I feel like it would look quite odd with the Iron bench and Phone Booth obscuring it..
Can anyone with a west side river mouth share your map. I need some inspiration for my island before I lose it and end up restarting lol
Especially if your residential services is almost directly in front of your airport.
I don’t think it’s the same but the concept looks similar and this might be enough to base my own on. Thank you so much!!!!
(Edit: or maybe this is the one now that I’m looking at her Instagram? Anyways thank you you’re a life saver)
Anyone knows what I could put here?
A park
When in doubt, just add a pond, an orchard or a flower field/flower breeding site! Alternatively, you can add stuff like bus stops/train stations to empty places like that!
You know what. I've made up my mind. I reviewed the Direct footage to see if there is some future furniture I would place and sure enough there is. Apparently there's some Gazeebos. And that Park Fountain looks nice. So. Maybe I'll leave it blank.
Thats not to say there isn't one more design choice I've considered. I was thinking of moving the Able Sister's shop over to the left. So the bushes will be behind the Iron Bench.
So it'd still be this just with the Able's Shop bushes parallel to the bench.
That leaves an open line of space behind my Phone Booth but. Maybe I'll toss some flowers there and all it a day.
Mabel waking up for the 5th time at 3AM to me moving their shop 👁️👄👁️
1,2 or 3 for the placement of campsite. 1 is at the back, 2 is placed one block forward and 3 is to the right a little. not done decorating(obviously) but feel the need to place it to visualise everything:)
Personally, I would choose 2, you can still walk to the space to the right of the tent and maybe place a telescope there for nighttime stargazing, and behind the tent, you can add some fencing to make it look more safe!
thank u so much! ill add them now:))
What you guys think of this? The Bush behind the Jack-o-stack kinda annoys me because I don't like consecutive bushes that close. So open to see what anyone thinks I could replace it with.
maybe clear the bush and move the lanterns a half back?
put the flower cart behind the bench instead of the 2 bushes?
i see nearly everyone uses it with their ables so i have put one around infront of the window of my ables
I'd swap the bench and the pumpkins.
Ok does anyone have an idea/inspo for a really small pond
Not sure what to put at my entrance 🤔 i all the tiles look nice but it looks too flat with just nice pathing
Maybe some white streetlamps and stalls?
And maybe some candy pieces on the ground?
ty for the suggestions! I'll try some stuff :D
Any pathing tips for a forest core island? I have no clue what sort of pathing would look best! It’s all pine trees and white flowers
Should I place some flamingos?
I’m in the middle of redoing my entrance and my personal area, which was already farm-themed before the Direct, but most of this is how I want it.
its all opinions but ur welcome to visit my island to look
Anyone have any inspo of a entrance that lines up to RS? I'm going for a city/town kinda style
resident services
i like nature wood style
My entrance lines up, but my island is more like a village/settlement feel not very urban or citycore.
Do you have an image of the entrance? I would still be curious to see it if you don't mind 🙂
i have one but dunno if it rly works unless your rs is pretty much centered to the airport lol
Mine is exactly centered with the airport
anyone have tips on improving this ? (this is infront of townhall/plaza)
i feel like the items are too bland
this is mine, mine is one space off centered
Yeah, I was about to suggest adding a pop of color. Flowers / plants?
You could even change them out seasonally
i… personally dont vibe w the bamboo awifjeijfoije i fl like in general white doesn’t go well w fall but i’d swap the bamboo w white garden wagons lol
Could also change the color of the bamboo, I use the smoked one everywhere
i think garden wagons wld fit better imo rather than bamboo lolol i have a hard time mixing in bamboo furniture w other non-asian esque furniture
mite i suggest… turkey day garden stands w idk the floating biotope planter lol instead of street lamps
np!
Oooo yes that’s a good idea
oh wait thats rlly good
Can anybody tell me what map this was to start with this on the south hemisphere or the northern hemisphere and which map?
hello @viral cosmos
Looks fake cause I think you can only have 2 river exits and you can't have town hall on mountains
I’ve got like a lil plaza area here in front of my museum, to the right of my ables and above and behind my cranny
If that helps
and @viral cosmos ?
no matter north or south hemisphere, there are only three types of river mouths:
- both southwards
- south-west
- south-east
the photo you’ve attached is an edit
Oh thanks is there an island that looks like that for the start though or no ?
enterance! taking tips/critiques (this is an old screenshot, the left side was removed for the plaza area shown in a phew images up
no islands look like that my dear
Alright thank you
On the two spots in the water? also I think it depends on your island theme, could be cute though
I think it looks beautiful!
what are some outdoor shops/markets/places that make sense outdoor (outdoor library, coffee shop, bakery, etc are awesome, but you'd never seen a library outside IRL)
Finished a little cafe area!
A farmers market would be cute and realistic 😊
Can someone help design my island cottagecore/springcore 😓
i can send some ideas
Hey guys I need your help deciding so I’m starting a new game on animal crossing yes I know before the update comes out does anybody know what I should name my island and what map I should go for I’m trying to go for a map that’s my residential services is in the middle but not too close to my airport does anybody have any like map suggestions and ideas my theme I’m going for is like fairy/spooky
Do ya'll mind reacting with a "checkmark" to the picture below that you think looks better? I can't decide if I want the area to have white+green or white+red flowers!
EDIT: Thanks for the feedback! Dom's house will have red flowers!
Didn't you do that yesterday too
Ok tysm
I was deciding yesterday if I wanted one of two different terraforming builds lol. It seems like people like this build better (the other one had a diagonal bridge on the first level), so I'm trying to refine it now by deciding what flower color to use
I like the drooping flowers. How do y'all get them?
Lily of the valley. You get them by having a 5-star island. They have a chance to appear on your cliff edges (only if you have some space available where the lilies can grow)
Oh :(. I'm only 2-star. It'll take forever to get those
It's not too bad! Just work on adding bridges/inclines, adding flowers and furniture to your overall island (it helps more if your furniture is spread out over the island rather than all concentrated in one small area)
It takes forever for me to get furniture 😔 probably because I work during the day. So I can't really binge play when my villagers are actually awake
I have no work today. So I can play all I want
So uh I got a biggest problem and I need someone to help me out
I really could use your help mapping out my island design
My island is not the same as the template and I don't know what to do
My island is very similar but not the same
Needing some help with island layout, already have a sketch and an idea but I need it to be cleaned up
the sketch and the island currently
What could I decorate this space with?
If it helps there's an app where you can plan out your island with terraforming and fences too
Etoile’s home is coming along! Planning to put more flowers and I’m open to any other suggestions 😊
Cafe?
the farm plantations for the new crops maybe
this is amazing and I am stealing it
Looks pretty, I'll try to go for a cafe then
Hm
That's a good one too, though I have a little pumpkin patch that could be replaced with the crops
yeap
Thank you! How I wish that my rs was that close to center. This makes me want to reset more lol. I don"t know what I was thinking when I made this one.
I think I was just annoyed at how long it I had been refreshing for. And I finally got an orange airport and cherries. But there are so many better layouts.
This is mine currently. And I'm just at a loss
The rs looks like it's far but it's only 8 blocks away from the airport and the airport exit lines up with the right side of the building. It seriously drives me mad..
If anyone has any suggestions I'm open to them
Does anyone know a custom design for a fish market that goes on a simple panel?
#misc-pattern-codes and search for fish market or something similar
I just got lucky, I guess. I didn’t overthink it, I literally went “this island has a dog-bone pond and that’s amazing, I’ll take this one”. XD I have since expanded the pond into that upper-left-hand corner river
It actually wasn’t really a pond, it was a tiny waterfall XD which I didn’t discover until I was able to get to that part of the map, and i thought that was even cooler
Looking at your island, might you be happier just sculpting it towards a default island to re-ignite some ideas? I think with all those hills in the front half of your island, they’ll kind of block a lot of view
maybe a post office?
like this, i can’t get a ss of mine atm but it’s somewhat similar haha
sorry wrong channel
Made a little Snow White area.
any ideas on what i could decorate my house entrance with? 🥺
has anybody used alt accounts to use their houses as buildings?
I don't want an outdoor arcade. I'd love to use one the residents' houses as an arcade though.
can visitors enter players' houses even if that player isn't the one playing?
they can, I used to have a spa like that
with woodlike ground maybe
and bushes
maybe some roses
actually tell me what u have as an option to put in @royal imp
oh that sounds nice, maybe a lil rose garden with bushes 🥺 thank you!
no probs:)
My new post office 📫
i was also thinking about flowers or maybe some chairs with a lil table or something ☺
OH! u should get the ratten end table its small and cute
and with the right ground it looks rlly good
sounds super nice! tysm for the help🥺🥺
ofc no probs:)
Accidentally made a bug trap while i was terraforming. The dragon flys cant get out
101 on how catch bugs lmao
that incline looks cursed
I DIDN'T EVEN NOTICE
haha
Incline?
top left
There isnt an incline in the area
My eyes
thats what im getting at
I used my children's abandoned accounts. I turned my sons house into a "foodie house" featuring 6 different restaurants, my daughters house into the "travel experience house" featuring 6 different landscapes and seasons. My granddaughters house is currently being styled as a hotel.
has anyone got any little areas in their island they used just to fill up empty land? :)
picnic area, trees, flowers, bushes, small grilling/camping, small pond
I like to put some trees around, then cut a couple down but leave the stumps. added a log bench
ooo nice idea, thanks!
LF: somebody to design my island layout, i’m not picky but I just can never get it looking good. FT: NMTs , bells
DIY
I still have not seen anyone do a harbor or a shipping docks
any suggestions for inspiration?
ive seen ppl recreate pokemon one to one
@kindred dock Might have better luck using the #player-services channel to employ someone to make you a design
if that's your intent of what you wrote
stardew valley map also seems plausible to recreate in ACNH, espeacially with farming coming in the free update soon
ty I did that too, just trying to cover all of my bases lol
The right side looks the neatest. Both are really cool
right
Alright I’ll go with the right side. Ty!
Should I go with the white or the black?
white if you want contrast and for you eyes to go to it. Black if you want it to be more subtle and blend in with the path a bit more
black it fits better
whats a good area to put in the back of your map
^back corners(i’m gonna build from the corners out
Any tips??
I like to build high in the corners so my map mostly builds up to high
Maybe a table by chairs with a coffee mug on the table, and a Rattan stool in front of the fire place
Maybe some like foot prints or something to fill in around where the base of stairs are.
like build a cliff back there
i'm at a bit of a creative block with this area can't lie, can anyone help!?
Does anybody have a good island layout for a Greek themed island? More of a city set up but still with that island feel? I have all my great decor ideas but can’t seem to get started or no where to put what 😞
it's like cottage core ig, foresty etc
quite floral, quiet peaceful type of vibe
Does this look big enough for an orchard?
i'd say so yeah!
judy is in the way while i’m trying to design around my able sisters but she looks so cute i can’t disturb her
didnt plan on getting norma but she's kinda cute ig
I tried my best
it looks like she matches your island vibes really well!!
Museum Pic. So glad I can afford to use two inclines with the updating arriving
thank you!!
this looks so cool actually, i love the fact there's bamboo on your island 🤘
#1 or #2. And if you have any input on swapping some things around then please don't be afraid to tell me.
does anyone know the items in the table?
Trees Bounty Lamps
Thanks! My goal is to make my island look old, overgrown, and warm. Can’t wait for the Greco/ Roman looking items coming soon
TYSM!
i really like it, i'm sure it'll look awesome once it's finished!
I like #1, but I would try to add some fossils to the left and right of the museum, and maybe some small ones in between the trees in the front.
After not playing for about a year, it really changes how you see your island. I can’t believe this is my island lol
I think the paths in #1 are much nicer!
I prefer #2 personally cause it centers the museum entrance
WIP island entrance
I'm going to say "none of the above," myself.
I think you're on the right track, but I'd suggest that you keep experimenting with moving stuff around a bit more. Include those side areas with the brick patterns in your deliberations, too; there's a lot of space you've got to the sides of the museum that you can work with.
I just unlocked terraforming and it's time to create a fun new island! any ideas for themes/inspo? (this is my second island :])
@sonic cloakMight I suggest starting by trying to find a "centerpiece" to place between the two inclines? For example, you could put a Valiant Statue at the edge of the cliff line.
(I personally think a Wedding Arch right behind the Valiant Statue looks quite nice, too, but you can experiment with various "backdrop" items to accentuate the statue, or other "centerpiece" item you choose.)
does anyone know of any good SOLID custom stone brick paths
The space to the sides of the museum are going to be focused on seating arrangements and such. So over there is what I'm decorating. Right now I'm trying to focus on my entrance. But this is the basis of my inspiration. (Comes from an Instagram post who goes by @varuna.crossing)
Of course given the smaller area space...I dont have much room to work with and I'll have to improvise a bit.
@sonic cloakI think you can copy a significant amount of the middle/lower part of that inspo-pic, actually, even given the space discrepancy!
You can put a Beautiful statue at the cliff, like the pic, but cut out the water portions; just put a shrub on both sides of the statue. For the fencing, place a single hedge fence bookended by stone-and-iron fencing (and do this both behind the statue and in front of the cliff down below). Then, place the Wedding Arch behind the fencing.
As for the middle section with the benches, go with one line of hedging in the middle, instead of a hedge box pattern. You could put a shrub instead of hedge fencing at the top and bottom parts of the line. Then, place the benches on either side of the line with the Wedding flowers (or Turkey Day Garden Stands) on both sides of both benches.
@sonic cloakAnd if you go with the path layout from your first pic, you should be able to keep the trees where they are, no problem!
does anyone have any unique theme idea's? I want to try something diverse since I can never stick to one single theme haha!
Maybe try an island where you recreate for example Disney movies and make a small place for all the ones you like, or anime, other movies or anything
OK so given the critique and looking back at my inspiration I came up with something a little different.
I like it!
Now I can fix the tiles by moving the stairs up lol rip money
Now all I have to do is go about my side areas. We're getting Gazebos this next update and I'm curious to see what those are all about. They're in the Nook Mile Machine thingy and they weren't shown off.
But should they look good enough I'll toss them over to the sides.
Ooo that gives me some ideas INSPRATION!
I wanted to make a garden with all of the flowers and soon all of the vegetables.. but looks kinda boring how to spice it up?
Hmm add some barrels boxes with fruit on it and some bee boxes
Add some tools for decor and custom paths that look like dirt paths
Hi! I'm looking for somebody to design my island layout, offering NMTs and/or bells 🙂
you are better finding people for that in #player-services 🙂
I rearranged my island for the update where I jampacked the upper part of my island with the orchard, rock farm, nooks and ables, and all of my villager houses, I now have 70% more space on my island but idk what to do with it
I want to change this whole area but I don’t really have any ideas, could someone give me some inspiration? I already have a cafe and a garden area
so i wanna do like a normcore island with a mix of fairycore, any advice/ideas?
Anyone know which bridge would work with this path? If not I'm willing to redo them
Probably the stone bridge
Hear me out, reading club
Oooh yeah that’s a good idea
Or a camping area
ok idk what to do bc my paths don’t align by literally 1 block
to the left the path continues and it goes over a bridge, to the right is my neighborhood. what do i do 😭 i could move the bridge but i don’t want to waste money and i’d have to move everything centered around it
saying goodbye to my old entrance. after not having picked up this game in a couple months i realized this isn’t the vibe i want to go for anymore
looks like you have some custom pathing, why not use that in a staggered way to make it look like one straight path, you can take away the table set up and add the custom path to connect them (or use it all the way across for continuity) and put things on either side of the path that break it up
Pathway takeover
Thats really nice
I'm really liking people's diagonal bridges. I think I'll have to try doing something similar. I wonder why those look so good
How to fix pathways that are misaligned by 1 space: Misalign them by even more spaces!
Throw straight lines out the window. Make a circular roundabout; make a winding, snaking pathway; do something to make it look like the various pathways were never meant to line up in the first place!
I second this! Another thing you can do is make the 1-block spaces go in alternate directions (like one goes up, one goes down) to create a sense of intentional asymetry.
This is what the area around my able sisters looks like, but what should I add in front of Nooks?
Finished some of my entrance still think it needs a few details tho
What's the dirt design code?
I love the perspective of the first picture! It looks great!
There's a lot of stone in that second picture, though. The first shot gives off enough of a "natural-ish" impression that you could get away with less stone and more greenery, I think.
I can customize the leaf piles right? You think the green wold be better?
I also have a moss custom code I could put down
does anyone have entrance ideas?
I just posted mine a few seconds ago you can see if that helps :)
OH OMG PRETTY
To be honest, I couldn't tell the leaves weren't green...
But it's more about pulling the stone away from some of the edges to add more green stuff. For example, you could easily add another bush on either side of the statue.
Point, I'll do that rq. My dad helped me and he sed it wold look to old if I added moss and stuff
I agree with him, there. The statue and wedding arch are both bright; adding moss would clash with that dynamic.
MA-4147-2454-4020
I wanted a more worn looking path but I don't have online rn so I went with Stone
Honestly just winging it but I'm glad
I added some bushes what if I did two more street lamps or some flowers?
@fluid prairie I used to use an alternating stone pattern for more "rustic" paths, before I switched to custom pathing. You can see an example in this picture.
Oh hey you have Nate and Lopez. I have those 2 as well. Skye was on my island for a bit at one point lol
... wanna show you my villagers at the moment, i guess they are not that popular but i like them at least a few, especially diana, she's my favorite but i also like axel, walker, and chow 🥺👍
could somebody give me some inspo for my flower garden and gyroid garden? I wanted to make something but idk what to do and i can't find anything i like on pinterest.
I need BRUTAL HONEST ADVICE on my island. I want to make a 10. Will people please for the love of god help me
9499B
i have no idea what i want to do layout-wise for my island
im not very creative but i also hate taking too much inspiration from others
Maybe some small gardens
Hi, does anyone ha e any suggestions on making this area flow a little better?
I'm trying to make a neighborhood but natural looking. This is lollys area which turned out great
But I think maybe I put piper and Reneigh too close. Can I save it or should I start over?
Post pics!
What about a shared garden space?
Maybe like a deck area with a mix of what they both like with a little tea area or a book nook
Oooo that's a cute idea! I don't know how I'm going to put a path through the middle tho bc I wanted to put more houses behind it 🙃
Might add some off to the side, I have to duplicate some more flowers first. Ty for the idea tho!
Thank you for the suggestion tho!
Ohhh them maybe a small neighborhood?
I like your garden idea but I'm thinking maybe I should move renieghs house back a few spaces
Because there's no space for a path rn
Blegh it looked nice before I moved the houses hahaha
Moving airport is possible but probably unnecessary. Looks good
So thare aligned better?
Yes! So I can have the path like kinda an S shape
That should work
I bulldozed the cliff but I only left myself 1 space between the hammock and pipers area. I think I'll do a book nook like you suggested and move the left house back for extra space :) thank you!
That way the areas are more separated
Np, glad I was able to give ideas!
What are you doing the northern part of your island for?
Could somebody give me some insporation for my gyroid and flower garden?
I am trying to figure out what to put up there
can i get insporation for some gyroid and flower gardens-?
I haven't seen too many gyroid Gardens yet bc they're not released yet
I'm looking forward to it though!!
I'm wondering if we are even going to be able to put them outside tbh
They don't show them outside
I hope we can because a garden sounds awesome.
That sounds more convenient tbh I'm running out of room outside
I'm making one so that I don't mix them up with fossils, and also just because it's convenient- and then i have an excuse to put extra furniture on my island, and it just sounds cute.
My small Puzzle Beach! Including a small reference to a certain wonderful Nintendo DS game series :3
Hai hai, hey I need some advice on something. Long story short, I'm remodeling my island (because I refuse to restart) in prep for the update, but moving buildings is expensive, especelly when you play this game casually and relaxingly. So I literally can't afford to make mistakes. I want some advice on some ideas I had before I do them, regret, and can't undo.
My first idea was to move the villagers from the left side and move them to the right, but that would require more money.
The other was to move the other villagers to the left side, but I'd still need to move the homes too close to shore for path making, and I refuse to move Ankha's house (the one next to the heart lake)
After that, I'm not sure what to do with my river situation, because I want my Museum to sit next to the water and I don't wanna move it, but I also don't wanna get rid of the one near Ankha, as I already put down a bridge there.
Turnips
I think your island looks good so far. Personally, first thing I’d do is move the first two houses away from the airport (E4 and far left E5) and put them in the 2 column area. It would balance out your villagers on each side of the island. Then, maybe, I’d take the river in the 6 column and drag it back down to the mouth of the river. Maybe build a bridge to make it like a little peninsula. Just my thoughts
Has anyone seen a Gothic/Addams Family style island with villagers such as Muffy-Lucky-Hamphery etc. Thought of the idea just now and thought it would be cute.
My advice though, would be to take it slow. I litterally just tried this, and gave up, cause it cost WAY too much bells. @burnt flicker Focus on small projects first, and use cheap bridges, and inclines. I would suggest the turnip market though.
One problem with that tho: I naturally don't wake up til at least 3pm, and even if I'm willing to time travel a little to participate, it's tuesday.
Looks like you have a lot of open room too. Farming fruit is a sure fire way for bells
I'm 90% sure I make more bells crafting with fruit, then selling those.
Oh I know, but you first need the fruit
Fruits, Fish, Bugs, and Fossils are another way to get bells. but not as effective as turnips. Also, @burnt flicker you dont have to time travel or anything, there is a discord chat that you can look in to see if anyone elses islands are buying/selling turnips. #turnips-looking-for and #698949096601419827
oh #daisy-nookling-ads i think offers both
I mean, the problem with the river thing is I want to keep the one in 2 (because I already brought it a bridge) and the one in 6 (because I want Blathers to have a river next to him), but not both at the same time and I can't make a decision.
Crying 🤠 I acted on my impulsive thoughts and ripped apart my whole islands. Having a lot of ragrets 💀💀💀💀
welcome to the crew @crystal veldt your the 3rd one i have seen in the last hour to do something like this. I being #1 lol
Hello! I've finally decided to actually design my island and I've decided to go with more of the Jungle theme or a long forgotten jungle that still has dinosaurs in it kind of vibe. I don't really know what type of paths to use or what to build (I have some ideas but not alot) Any inspiration would help, pictures, ideas, entrances, etc
is there a tool for island planning like some website where you can draw an island map
those vines in the update will be a big help in the design department
probably can make some cool decoration with them
@static fulcrum I hope you're serious about the "BRUTAL HONEST ADVICE" part because I'm about to take you up on that.
Put bluntly, your island layout is almost exactly the opposite of what I'd want for my island. Granted, there's certainly an element of user preference to layout decisions, but I'll try to explain my grievances with your layout in a bit more detail.
@static fulcrum The overarching problem I was immediately drawn to was the fact that a solid 75% of your island is what I'd call "dead space." "Dead space" refers to any part of your island that you have to go out of your way to visit.
By placing all of your island's main buildings at the front of your island, you have created a situation where you would not normally visit 75% of your island unless you are deliberately going out of your way to visit those areas. That's all "dead space" because no matter what decor you put there, it's likely not going to be something you'll pass by and enjoy on a frequent basis.
@static fulcrum At best, your island, with its current layout, could be considered one of those islands where I go "this is beautiful, but I'd hate to actually live here." If all you care about is making a one-time-tour destination, then your layout could work. I, on the other hand, would much rather focus on decorating my island for my enjoyment, since I'm the one who'll be touring my island more than anyone.
For some reasons we can't share links here, I sent in dm.
@static fulcrum Basically, something like this is more ideal, also since villagers are more likely to be all over your island rather than in one single spot. Make your villagers' homes part of the decor instead of shoving them into a corner.
I went for the neighborhood route so the rest of the island could feel more overgrown but I might incorporate the spread-out idea if I decide to flatten again
Gonna start a new profile so that I can put a tent in the top right corner and have a little archeological/gyroid farming site
Can someone help design my island cottagecore/springcore sweat i already terraform my island to 1 layer
Do you have a general map plan? I'd say for cottagecore start with placing your houses and then you can form your cliffs and rivers around them.
I dont have any plan. Iprefer do a layout and put houses when each part done
But i dont know much😥
In that case I'd start by laying out your pathing.
Start with things that can't be changed like your resident services and entrance.
Could you guys send your farms, i need inspo on how to make mine
hi everyone!! I’m currently designing my island and I want someone to follow a YouTube video as I need help with placing the items and decorating!! it’s cottagecore PLEASE DM IF INTERESTED !!!!!
https://youtu.be/NnSVUF1rmcA
SURPRISE! I decided to spontaneously drop me touring my very own island. I felt anxious to upload this video and decided: why not? I hope you guys enjoy my natural spring island as it took nearly three months to complete. Let me know what you guys think of my island and what would you like to see next?! Thank you for watching! :3
Where to find ...
Hello does anyone have cottagecore/springcore ? i need ideas 😦
I didn't make my island (fully) cottagecore, but from what I've understood: Fill your island with flower fields, orchards and vegetable fields. Items that fit a more rustic/garden-y feel are also great.
Here is my frontyard, maybe it gives you inspiration on what items to use.
What might also be an idea: If you have the freedom to choose your villagers, you could invite farm animals (cows, sheep, goats, chicken...) and make the neighbourhood a little farm!
Can u make me a list? idk all items there 😦
finished designing my island plan :')))) really excited to design the meteor crater!!!
im gonna wait after 2.0 update to fully decorate though, so many new cool items
Mhm
Woah that's so detailed! Is that a website?
nope! someone in Reddit made a graph that fits the map of ACNH, you just need to align your map with the graph and trace over it. What i did lol then I drew what I wanted after
here's what it looks like
Do you guys try to limit third level cliffs? Or do you work with them?
I am not certain how I want to terraform my island yet, but I think flattening the whole thing out would just make me feel anxious
I’m trying to work with what I got atm. I’m aiming for a more natural look with my island with small town decor for the residential areas
I'm on my second island and i flattened my island but the way i am coping with it is i work within each square indicated on the island map. That way i keep myself confined when I'm terraforming and makes the vast emptiness of the island less intimidating
Thats fair, it’s probably for the best anyways because there are hills where I want to place villagers and I want their homes on the first floor
I made a random secret underground wrestling arena in the corner of my island 😆
If I change that portion of the island it’ll look more secret
I made it temporarily to get 3 stars but now I think it’ll be a funny contrast with the rest of my theme
Thinking about what you said, George, I think I’ll flatten one square at a time to make it easier. There really isn’t a reason for me to flatten an area ahead of time if I’m not doing anything with it. That’ll make things feel less intimidating for me as well
Nice, I didn’t know you could decorate cardboard boxes! I’m grabbing them from the town center asap!
here’s my tiny farm and orchard a few versions ago!
You can’t. They come in those patterns, so just keep checking them when you see them
Do you guys have any tips for making a jungle/ forest? I want it to be authentic and natural
Oh wow thanks for telling me!
You’re welcome! Wanted to spare you my disappointment when the Nooklings had plain ones in their shop ^_^
Yeah every time I grabbed them they were plain so when I saw the decorated ones I thought I simply didn’t try at customizing them before
If you stack boxes I hope they retain their uniqueness
guys idk how to commit to an island theme, ive been making my island a city christmas theme but i’ve been seeing a lot of farmcore islands recently and i really like those to
what do i do
Have multiple sections for different themes
Thats what I’m doing :)
Or you could merge them together!
how would i blend a city with a farm 😭theyre polar opposites
what themes are you doing?
So far I’m doing like a rustic, nature theme combined with a small town theme. I’m also adding a secret underground wrestling area
Just have a city street gradually lead off to a dirt path. Or have a small farm integrated somewhere in the city. I've seen both done when I've visited various dream islands, it's not impossible.
Yeah you have have it separated by a river or in some fenced off park like area. Kinda like NYC and its central park
Could I get some recommendations for making this even more natural? I've ordered a few more garden lanterns, but what items do you think would go well here? Sorry for the bad quality video
The part where you see all the flowers is where the first will gradually become a farming area for the new crops coming soon. There will also be some flowers stored here, but I have a flowering breeding area elsewhere.
I would add bushes, leaves and some weeds
Maybe a go for a more natural dirt pattern too. I think it being all rectangles makes it less natural. If you stand at the right angle, you can adjust the built in dirt pattern so that is can curve
You can add some flowers like mums too and maybe a wild log bench or something
Hello does anyone have cottagecore/springcore ? i need ideas 😦 DM
Thank you, it's hard to see but I have added some weeds that I'll let grow now. And there are also some bushes that I just planted, so they're not grow yet. I went and grabbed some leaves, which I forgot about when making this
While unnatural, this type of path is what is used throughout my entire island, so that's something I want to remain consistent. Thank you for the suggestions!
Hi! try looking at different height items to use too. So i’d suggest maybe adding some leaf custom codes to layer over your path, and some dropped acorns/pinecones/mushrooms as low level items. then you’ve got flowers/bushes/stumps/garden rocks for the next height level. and then tall garden rocks/streetlamps/turned off mush lamps for taller items. You could also stunt some of your trees to make it look more dynamic. I hope at least some of that helps!🤍
I need court yard inspiration can I see yours
I spent all day making a rock garden and then had all my rocks in a circle with one just slightly off, and accidentally deleted all the mannequins so now I have a slightly wonky rock circle 😅
I’m not sure where to start, I’ve got my entrance sorted but honestly have no idea where to go from there
I’d suggest using a map designer online or having a plan and idea for a look before getting in game and terraforming! I can help plan if you’d like, and it’s good that you’re starting with a mostly flat island!
yesss i'd love help planning if you dont mind, tysm for the advice
how do you mix spring core, normcore, and fairycore i want to do it but i dont know where to even start
I can’t promise I’m amazing but I can promise to try! Lol
Can I message you? :))
ofc!
i know to use mush lamps and nova lights but like any ideas for areas and other stuff?
first version of molly’s pottery area! any ideas/changes/constructive criticism is welcomed and greatly appreciated!!
Love this so much! Super creative to make a pottery area, I don’t think I’ve seen anyone else do this 😊
Looks fantastic to me! About the only thing I could really suggest adding would be some minor custom patterns to beautify the grass a bit more!
The patterns I personally use to cover empty grass areas are "flower detail" and "grass detail" by Griffin (MA-8188-9771-2442) and the "Clover & flower" designs by Iltsu (MA-4471-1720-0257).
