When I first started I placed things all over the place without really thinking tbh, but then once K.K was done I tore everything down and started at the entrance, focusing on that one area for several days and then worked my way back until I eventually reached the back of my island. My tip if you're struggling would be to work on small areas at a time and walk away if you truly can't think of what to do, and go back to it once you get an idea. Just don't worry about completing your island in a set amount of time. If it takes you months, it takes you months. Just enjoy the game and don't stress 🙂

to go with your theme, i suggest oil barrel bathtubs, stalls, and brick ovens. the oil barrel bathtubs and brick ovens have a cool smokey effect though i think the brick ovens need 2x2 spaces. stalls and oil barrel bathtubswill definitely fit there though

i think it looks amazing! i love the gargoyles, it is like they are guarding the entrance to your island. i think stick with what you have got and keep building on it, maybe a bit more terraforming, add some decoration. sometimes i find it helps to just start putting things down to figure out what i dont like to help me figure out what i do like

Thank you! Yeah, I was thinking of removing the brick staircase and replacing it with a stone one to match with the gargoyles, as you call them, lol. And I’m trying! Haha, it’s hard when your creativity is not kicking in. But I’ll do my best to keep it lol I only did it cos I realized I used up a lot of the space near the resident area that’s not far from the airport and laying down a path on leveled ground wouldn’t work for me. @royal spindle Yeah there were a few others when I searched Youtube for industrial island tours! "Dystopian" might also get you similar results since a lot of industrial islands tend to be sort of run down, rusty. Pinterest should be good, too!

You could think about doing more builds that require a higher ground level in the foreground, and lower ground level in the background, like the attached pictures. I used to have my island structured similarly to yours (3rd level at the back, 2nd level in the middle, 1st level in the front), and over time I've reorganized it since I realized some perspectives look better from a high viewing point

Yeah, when people say they have a cottagecore or fairycore island it just means that's the main aspect of their island really. Pastelcore for example is simply a pastel colored island, forestcore is just a forest themed island, and so on. Glad I could help make sense of it all 😄 It can get confusing I know

how do i make my haunted forrest look scarier ?? i didn’t put filters on it bc i mean that’s how it looks in game. it just doesn’t feel right. i added lots of weeds before but it looked bad. idk what else to add to make it look better. it looks better at night but still feels off

i think the trees could look cute! i would add in a few more though- make it look more dense

that way when you see little splats of the blood, or a bit of the stone, itd be ominous haha

I think it’s mostly the spring season making your area too happy lol. Most gothic or haunted islands I see are set in early December (when everything looks dead) or late February, early March. I think cedar trees are perfect for your island, though I’d personally use more stunted trees to make it look more varied and natural!

ok this is what i’m working with rn. my house is up there (i know it’s messy around it i’ll fix that), and i want to keep that spider crab thing bc of the inside joke thing my brother and i have (you can see his house and gnome army at the end, it’s basically spider crabs vs gnomes) but I can move them. I want it to look scarier and more dense but idk how. i think the stones and more trees is a good idea tho

If you need to make do with the spring season, it might make sense to cover all that happy, bright green grass with the in game dirt path or a custom design path. There’s a lot of muted, dull green custom design paths for March that people put over the in game dirt path, and those would remove the spring grass for you

Oo I like the more muted green color! That custom design isn’t really meant to be the main focus in an area lol - if you decorate with more furniture and shrubs/black flowers, it should look even better!
