Oh I use zen for fancy places, and people tend to use suspension for the most natural areas. The flat wooden bridge (forgot its name) is used more often in rural Japan islands. I rarely see people use the basic log bridge - I feel like it’s hard to pull off

Hey, I don't know if this is the right place to ask. But I quit the game a while ago and I am wanting to come back but I'm pretty demotivated since I kinda messed my island up with terraforming. I have quite some resources so, I think it would be a waste to restart. Where could I start transforming my island into something I'm happy with? It's currently almost completely the default island I got except that I tried terraforming the east side. To no avail sadly.

A lot of people do start at the entrance, myself included. But you could also start at the back of your island, or you could start right in the middle and work outwards. You could also start with decorating your RS first, or decide where to place the shops and work around those. It's really up to you tbh

A walkthrough of the museum area I made this week! I wanted to decorate the center area more, but I found that adding furniture threw off the perspective, so I just made it a reflecting pool like the one my dad used to take me fishing as a kid.

You can have different themes at once as well if you'd like. I struggle a lot because I've got a theme I can't really find inspo to. I have a rural village, mountain and overgrown theme but not the japan aesthetic and somehow I can't find inspo accounts for rural themes that aren't japan inspired ;__;

This my resident services plaza right now. Yesterday I built around it and made a pretty neat pathway to the airport that's right on the left to the RS. It's also very close to the beach so I struggled a lot to connect airport and plaza. 😭

And here's the view I built yesterday. You can also see this bridge from the entrance and it looks so good. I'm really proud of it because that's the first viewpoint I ever built 😭😍 I really love the area around my resident services plaza at the moment. Especially with the cherry blossom trees. 🌸

It depends whether you want it to be a modern city, rural, or traditional w lots bamboo forest, and then go from there for instance get a good street path design and plan out your island in blocks for modern city; use the dirt path and get more farm/rustic items for rural; plant bamboo trees and use the trad. + stone items for the last. Pinterest has so many good japan-themed designs/builds so I high recommend checking that out! I also currently have a rural japanese town that you're free to visit

I put out some beach chairs, umbrellas, newspaper design + watermelon ball, buckets, boxes etc and planted sparse weeds around the beaches in my rural japanese town. It makes it look like the residents come down to the beaches with friends and family

I have a mini farm and I'd recommend repurposing some of the spooky items. If you turn them backwards they just look like pumpkins not jack-o-lanterns. Also the wheat bundles from turkey day. The straw beds, watermelon variety of the beach ball, etc. Do you have pictures of your farm?

Hey I just got home from work and you've probably seen enough inspo by now but here is my very small farm area. I kept it really condensed and used the white variant of the mum cushions to look like cauliflower (I didn't make this up, I saw it on pinterest). The stack of pumpkins in the back is the spooky tower backwards. It's cut off on the left-hand side but I also used the spooky lantern set 🙂

It looks nice so far, but yeah I think it’s a little too narrow between the statues. If that bothers you, then maybe you can try pushing back the statues one square, and having at least two squares in between instead?
