My preference is a resident services a good distance away from the airport. I prefer having larger rocks to build on thats on the beach. A river mouth at the south and either east or west. A double river mouth at the bottom is awkward to make look nice

hmmm well inspo pictures always help if it's not turning out well in your opinion or do little pockets. If you don't like the look then switching theme would be a good idea. Generally, anything that you like looking at is a good theme since you have trends in your preferences. My for example is natural trash. natural areas with trash items everywhere

A little late but it depends on what you wanna do. I usually flatten my island completely, figure out a theme throughout the island and start from my entrance. The entrance is the first thing people who visit see, unless they're visiting through my dream address. So my entrance and resident services are usually my first areas I terraform and decorate and I branch out from there, starting with planning up the main areas of my island, nooks, ables, museum, campsite. Right now I'm working on like four different areas of my island right now and not a single one has been completed all the way before I get distracted with other projects.
