They are considered 0.5 towards the tree count for 5 stars. I think the max tree count is around 200?

If you mix terraforming, rocks, fences, and such you can still make the illusion of a dense forest

But also, shrubs are literally my life but I don’t wanna go short on too many trees, and another thing would be that it just says you need at least 450 scenery points, is there a “minimum” of trees in this, or can flowers essentially do most of it? It would be nice if it turned out that I don’t have too many tree points and instead just overwhelmingly amounts of flowers, since it’s still only like 1/5th of the island and I haven’t even done the orchard yet (although I’m only gonna do 2 or 3 trees of each fruit, since it’s mostly just for looks)

so im designing my island, and ive got one river mouth closed off with a bridge over top to make it look like it goes under the building. problem is both my river mouths are on the bottom and on the other side i want the residential area there. What can i do besides close that one to because i feel like that would be a shame

For my villagers yards I looked up their favorite color and then planted that color flower in their yard. I put a table and chair in each yard and then one item. Like a campfire, or a stereo. Or a pinball machine, bike, etc.

you can use a shovel to dig up existing flowers and move them or nooks sells bags of them along with tree saplings, chop trees down with an axe which you can either craft or buy 🙂

Oh if you don't want it to be immediately visible from the entrance, you can hide it using cliffs just like how I did with my island. Do tall cliffs and use trees to block the view and create a path/river + bridge alongside the cliff towards the residential area

What’s your theme? I have redone my island quite a few times... I have done a campsite (I moved my tent, put a fire, picnic blanket, laundry, etc.), a drawing area with canvas that were of the view, a tropical waterfall cliff (loads of brightly coloured flower and waterscaping) and right now I just have a picnic area set up with some teddy bears. I hope this sparks some ideas for you ☺️

With the paths you have out I think you should open your island right up with the neighborhood

Then have a river, a cliff, or some fencing+hedges and trees to separate the shop area from the residential
