I like the way it looks there on the first picture, but maybe if you also layer it down, so have it surrounding the bottom platform too, but i’m not sure about the look of it along the beach there, Maybe you could also try putting a path underneath them, a colour that matches them

I have a problem....

I dislike cottagecore, it's common, it's dull, it's unflavorsome. Unfortunately, my island is themed upon the country Scotland , which closely ties in to cottagecore as it has forests, little villages, lakes and highlands etc. I'm trying as hard as I can to make my island as Scottish as possible while keeping it un-cottagecore. E.g., I have removed all the mush DIY furniture and all uses of 'the path'. I have never met someone with an island theme like mine, so it's proving pretty tough.

Have you got any ideas?

For me, cottagecore ofteh has windey paths behind cliffs, across rivers and generally rather thing, almpst mazelike. Cottagecore can look neat, isn't quite my style tho.

I instead plan "main paths" to traverse my island, often 2-3 tiles large instead of 1 tile larde winded paths. Maybe that can help abit with getting a generall different structure?

it doesnt have to be over the top, but you definitely need to have more to it. if you want to keep it basic, you could put dark dirt around the edge and put some flowers and street lamps there.

@brave goblet my advice would be to think of a theme for your island and then go on happyisland designer and do a rough plan of where you want all your buildings, rivers, bridges and inclines to go. Use that as your guide. I personally printed mine off and refer to it all the time haha
After that just focus on one section at a time so you're not overwhelmed. Start by building the foundation like the cliffs, rivers etc and then decorate after. You'll gradually get inspiration as you build and decorate.

It isn't the museum is 7 wide so the steps would have to be 3 wide to sit in the middle and line up with the door

You could scoot the museum back some and hide that it doesn't line up? It really just depends on if it's going to bother you that there aren't three wide steps

A lot of people use two sets of stairs leading up the sides, one on each end, rather than the middle but if you did that you'd have to change your waterfalls (which are really pretty btw)
