the island overall has a pretty natury vibe so I thought maybe putting some bushes/weeds/nature crafts such as fungi lamps etc? maybe even rocks, but I tried and it doesn't look good

my main concern is that weeds will multiply and flowers might clone if it rains

@upper marten I would recommend starting with your entrance and then working your way back! This kind of sets the tone for your island. And it makes it not feel like such a big task. I would also plan out what theme you want your island to be before you start decorating! Good luck!!

I'm in the middle of designing my island and I know that for trees it'll mostly be apple and pine trees, with a few hardwood trees here and there. I was just wondering what flowers and bushes would match best?
I love autumn and my favourite bushes are the tea olive bushes but I feel like holly bushes will match better. As for flowers, I have NO CLUE which colours will look best.
To give you a bit of an idea of what my island looks like - big forests, lots of mushrooms and cliffs, tons of natural furniture.
Any suggestions are GREATLY APPRECIATED

@torn geode I used white, orange, and yellow flowers though out my whole island since they seem like autumn colors to me. My island is also very forest/ nature themed so it might work for you. I use white cosmos, orange wildflowers, and some yellow hyacinths. Hope this helps at least a little

You can put tree in front and fencing to distance it more. Of you can embrace and do like a little airport center in front

The more forest approach would be better if you wanted to do that. Depending on how close it is, you could do a little water and bridge to help angle the entrance to town hall if you wanted to use water anyway

@viral maple I recommend you catching butterflies each time you see one, so when flick comes you already have some to make a conmission. Because buying models is expensive af and butterflies like the emperor, the tiger, the monach and others are kinda frequent, Leave your tickets for the agrias model or the Gran Q.A birdwing

Gotcha. I think it would cute if you angled your entrance to the RS either with a bridge or terraforming (see picture online acnh natural entrance). You could continue the terrforming a little on the right. Since its cottagecore, you will want to spread out the housing. The biggest thing about cottagecore is the terrforming and natural landscape. I personally would not touch the main river you have too since it can be hard to get it back to looking natural

I would look at inspo online (Check out Nintentalk on YT if you want to watch island visits) I would start small on little pieces. Like start with the entrance and go from there

@woven drift no idea if this would work for you, but although I’m not going with cottage core I’m at least going for a bit more natural, do not look at the bigger picture, start with the entrance and do sections from there, otherwise it will translate poorly

Before you start on anything I would recommend experimenting with terraforming a lot or really looking into how others terraform, if you’re just starting out in my experience it’ll look a lot man made

I have a whiteboard that I drew out/planned out my island on. I made a list of things I knew I wanted (farm, campsite, etc.) and the general location where I wanted it

I focused on the general shapes I like that I would terraform

I'm not cottage core so inspo will help you more

And don’t be afraid to change locations of stuff, especially if you use those island planners you’ll really look at the bigger picture which isn’t good

As I said, it usually translates poorly and shapes will be a lot bigger and blockier

You might not have use of this just yet, but when making rivers and waterfalls do not let them be straight, it ends up looking manmade, and sometimes you shouldn’t round out everything because it will also look manmade (imo)
