I used a leaf pattern to kind of show the way on my island, I think it would blend in quite well in your area without being to striking, what I find confusing in that area i, that I don’t really know where to go in and out, like a clear path, guess this could help

@woven drift WIth your nearby bamboo, you could put down a bunch of bamboo furniature like a bamboo/chinese garden thing. Though you may need to tweak your house design.

Otherwise, can't go wrong with a fenced off garden for flower breeding, pumpkins, a pond, or turnip storage.

@edgy obsidian it’s so overwhelming starting I get you! It took me like 200+ hours to actually do anything other than my entrance, I recommend finding inspo deciding if u want a theme and starting from the back of your island and slowly working your way to the front (or from front to back)

@edgy obsidian i was overwhelmed as well i’ve been playing since release and my island isnt close to being done- take it by bits and try out new things i finally found out what i wanted to do by experimenting with terraforming and collecting new items as well as finding cool codes to lay down they definitely help

Idk what pics you want specifically but this is how I have my island split up, the transitions aren't anything extraordinary, I tried mostly to keep them separated by a river or bridges/inclines, but some of them have similar aspects and kind of blend in with each other.

I use a lot of long paths to connect areas too, there's one going from B1 to B5 and it connects the tropical resort (purple), the zodiac rock garden (yellow), the cemetery (grey) and ends at the lime green area which is just a forest area. I tried to keep things simple and have as few dead ends as possible, and avoided using paths that villagers can't normally walk through on their own.

the best thing I suggest is to try to clean up a space on your island, look up some inspiration for that one space and try and build something with it

and repeat that with other spaces on your island, but don’t clean up huge spaces, do it one by one like a medium space each time

@devout berry I personally just left everything the way it is and then changing it the moment I’m working on a specific area in which some cliffs or river are, I regretted to remove my rivers on my past islands, so I only remove some parts of my river which have to absolutely go away, it was very hard for me to create a natural river like it is on default.

i did end up resetting, and it really depends. When I reset I had over 100 hours already. Now personally i was able to finish the start faster and I had more experience so the starting was smoother, but if you’ve done a lot resetting might not be the best idea unless your willing to lose all that work

well! i dont know what theme to stick to.. i wanted to do a mix of nature filled fairycore but also with zelda influences like turn the museum into the hyrule castle but also want a goth vibe i have no idea how to do all of this in one island if that would even work??

You could do different sections. Maybe do a fairycore neighborhood for all of your villagers houses, and do the goth theme for the shops and hyrule castle for the museum and town hall?

@limber ginkgo jail bars and a single custom pattern work well with fake bridges on a cliff; for over the water I'd probably use log stakes or rope fencing! Here's my fake bridge built from a cliff, hope it helps~

I had each house separately fenced off and honestly it's a pain to go from one place to the next

How about a huge rectangle - bottom level is sort of similar to what you did - second layer is 4 homes and third layer is 6 homes and the borders of the rectangle are pine trees and then fencing. So the village is enveloped in pines (which should look really nice for Christmas)
