@wispy lotus a shell bed facing away on a cliff with two palm trees below on each side, then put hedge fencing along the cliff, put the palm trees 6 spaces wide apart and then put two hibiscus shrubs to the inner side of each palm tree, a tropical flower, and then a bench inbetween

It's always fun to put a lot of different trees and cliffs around it, with a little natural entrance near the front with a lil path going to it- though that gets troublesome if your resident services isn't in a good spot.

@wary summit Once you get the big it just doesn't seem to stop! I'm actually kind of sad I can't make new islands already while working on my first one. The possibilities are endless.

Man 520 hours, I have a lot of time to spare at the moment, so I'm trying to get as much done as quickly as possible so I can start working on the island. I've just been gathering resources and selling as much as I can, so I have bells for when the time comes

Biggest learning curve for me was getting used to the terraforming tools and realizing I didn't have to keep any of original the landscape if I didn't want to, and move any building. I've moved my house at least 4 times now. Also blew my mind how many things can be customized.

Highly recommend just taking your time and if you're stuck, move onto something else not related to decorating or terraforming, or move to another area. Also don't be afraid to change your theme or mix/match. It's your island and you make all the rules.

The whole bottom right quarter of my island is covered in weeds. They just grow much more naturally in varying stages than flowers do for a nature preserve.

@vague mist ive found that using a single color in an area works really well, personally i have all red, all blue, and all light blue areas so far. As for combinations, ive used purple and yellow, red orange and yellow, green and yellow, and pink blue and yellow. I do use a lot of flowers and fruit trees for color but heres some pics so you can atleast see how they look together

@runic fjord if you want more water, you can try splitting the bottom portion into smaller islands supporting a few cedar trees & fun stuff and connecting them with suspension bridges

@blissful schooner unsure what you mean by the dialogue thing bc I don't have a second player house, but if you don't like the second house the castle is definitely achievable with just one house! You can add more silos and maybe some wedding organs for structure :)

@junior dome oh! The theme currently still in my DA is 70% city and blocky haha. Some advice- I filled the rivers first and made a canal on one side (t-shaped, simple and v practical hehe) then blocked off the other bc I didn't have a need for it. After that definitely start with the airport and RS! Decide if you want to have a road that leads straight towards the RS and have intersections for different areas, or if you want a large "resting area"/grand entrance that has a street on the side that leads you places - then it'll be easier to plan out the rest of the streets and blocks bc city streets are straight
